For years now we have seen non-Muslim law enforcement officials gingerly, politely make this request. And yet as year after year passes, no one ever says, "Time's up!" and begins to call the Muslim community to account for its non-support of anti-terror efforts. No one ever asks himself why the Muslim communities in the U.K. and the U.S. don't do more to aid anti-terror efforts. No one ever starts to question the bedrock assumption that these communities are on our side in what used to be called the war on terror, despite the lack of any actual evidence that they really are on our side.
"Police chief calls on Muslims to support terror offensive," from Emergency Services News, February 8 (thanks to Twostellas):
The Muslim community 'could do more' to help identify extremist individuals, a senior officer has said.Sir Norman Bettison, the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, said that while he is conscious there is a fine line between winning the support of the Muslim community and alienating it, there was also a need for the community to work with the police.
"I'm looking for the community to work much more closely with the police in identifying young people that they have concerns about in terms of the people that they're mixing with, the sort of websites that they're going on to and the material that they're reading," he said.
"Now that information can only come from the community itself."...
Epiphany!
Major terrorist attacks are the most obvious manifestation of Jihad, but there's also an under-reported war known as 'Street Jihad', waged by the 'Muslim Community' against the kuffars: http://crombouke.blogspot.com/2010/01/muslim-street-jihad.html
To the police, an unprovoked attack by a pack of Muslim men on a kuffar boy is totally different from a bomb on a bus. But to the Muslims they're all part of the same continuum of hostility and aggression. The Ummah is at war with the kuffars and always will be.
LOL...same thing the rest of them are reading. It's the KKKoran you fool.
In any essay on National Character (a useful notion that has unusefully gone out of fashion), as an example of the Litotic Englishman who invites comparison with the Hyperbolic American, the phrase can be put to good use:
"The Muslim community 'could do more' to help identify extremist individuals, a senior officer has said."
Sir Norman Bettison, the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, who have entered a future Bartlett's. When constabulary duty's to be done, to be done, you, judging by your title, Sir Norman Bettison, Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, have done your share and more.
But now there is something in the offing better than a knighthood. Your words will enter Bartlett's; they will be included in Handbooks of Rhetoric, under "Figures of Speech: Litotes." You have become immortal.
What are those soon-to-be-immortal words again?
"The Muslim community could do more to help identify extremist individuals."
"Could do more..."
Errata Sheet:
For "Sir Norman Bettison, the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, who have entered a future Bartlett's. When constabulary duty's to be done, to be done, you, judging by your title, Sir Norman Bettison, Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, have done your share and more."
Read "When constabulary duty's to be done, to be done, you, judging by your title, Sir Norman Bettison, Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, have done your share and more."
That first line, or a variant of it, was moved below and in my haste I didn't strike out completely its now confused and confusing appearance. Sorry.

It's so applicable here.

Who Are the Real Infidels?
Infidel - from the latin infidelis. Fidelis, Faithful, Loyal, True. Infidelis, Unfaithful, Disloyal, Untrue.
Major Nidal Malik Hasan may have indulged himself in tirades against the "infidels", yet in fact Hasan himself was the perfect embodiment of the infidel, the unfaithful and the disloyal. Nidal Malik Hasan betrayed the country of his birth and his oath of enlistment, he plotted treachery against those to whom he owed his service, he repaid the generosity of the country that had taken in his parents and of the United States military by plotting murder against them.
Hasan, like so many other Muslim terrorists, including Bilal Abdullah, the British born Muslim doctor who carried out the 2007 Glasgow airport attack, Alaa Abu Dhein who murdered 8 students in a Jerusalem Yeshiva or Leeds born Mohammad Sidique Khan, who carried out the 7/7 bombings, proved himself the true infidel-- incapable of gratitude, loyalty or human feelings toward anyone outside his murderous ideology. These men demonstrated that being an Islamist precludes being a good citizen of any non-Muslim country, and that their spoken word and sworn oath, their professional obligations and personal connections have no worth whatsoever. Truly no creature is as worthless an infidel as the fervent Muslim who believes in no higher duty than murdering those who have refused to accept the supremacy of his religion and culture.

UK: Police chief says Muslim community "could do more" .
to aid anti-terror efforts
Why? Why should we demand from Muslims that they betray the first tenets of their faith, betray their compatriots in faith, and thus jeopardize their chance of paradise.
Is this police chief some kind of Islamophobe?

Thanks for posting this, Sean. I had heard of a number of these cases—this horror is becoming ever more pervasive. Clearly, this is Jihad, as surely as bombing the Tube is—and helps explain why Sir Norman Bettison is never going to get the support from "the community" that he seeks.
Many Muslims don't want to work with the police to discourage Jihad terror, because Jihad terror is just fine with them—and those who do are often cowed by the threat of just this sort of violence from "the community" themselves.
And yet, after that litany of violence and crime directed at native Britons, here is one of the comments:
"what sh*t is this are you trying to insight (sic) violence among muslims and other religions"
The old tactic-the idea that you can cow the Cassandras by implying that identifying a situation—somehow—causes it. Of course, what this poster really means is "don't fight back".
I wonder.
In the UK corrupt Muslims have achieved high office in the Police Force and imported corrupt practices. Now one has FINALLY, after several attempts been gaoled.

"UK: Police chief says Muslim community "could do more" to aid anti-terror efforts"
That must be some of that under-stated British sarcasm we hear so much about.
Good luck with that, infidel.
An interview with Sir Norman Bettison on BBC World Service featured his contention that "it will take a generation, twenty years or more, to turn the tide of radicalisation of British Muslim youths".
However, the interview did NOT feature his theory of just how this should/would be done.
Yes, I agree, read Sultan Knish's article The "Sultan" is one of my most favorite bloggers.
