Al-Qaeda in Iraq top dog says the jihad will go on

Not giving up. "Al-Qaida leader in Iraq calls for continued jihad," from AP, March 23:

CAIRO -- The self-described leader of an al-Qaida front group has called for continued jihad against Iraq's American "occupiers" after the March 7 election that he claims was boycotted by most Sunni Arabs.

In a 24-minute audio tape posted Tuesday on militant Web sites, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi said the parliamentary election and its results meant nothing for the mujahideen, or holy fighters, and that the next government would be no different from the previous one....

"The Jihad will go on." Well, of course it will. La lutte continue.

But the main thing, and the pleasing thing for us is that the Sunnis, with their new Sunni-in-Shi'a clothing Iyad Allawi, won't allow the Shi'a to continue ruling unchallenged as before, for the Sunnis, even if they have to back a "secular" Shi'a candidate to obtain, at this point, their goals -- they'll try peaceful means at first -- will never accept their new, diminished status. And the Shi'a will now become slightly more unified, even possibly joining with the Kurds (who are predominantly Sunni, but their Kurdish identity takes precedence, in their mental makeup, over which branch of Islam they belong to), to make sure that they never have to yield the power that they inexorably acquired when the regime of Saddam Hussein fell.

And all that stuff about how "the surge worked" and about the bringing of "freedom" to "ordinary moms and dads" in the Middle East, and the Light-Unto-the-Muslim-Nations project will, only two trillion dollars and 5,000 dead and 30,000 severely wounded later, be proven to be the will-o'-the-wisps they always were understood, by a few, to be.

Swell. James Horner can write the song for them and Cameron can do the movie.

We're here...
We love to cause fear
And we know the Jihad will go onnnnnnnnnnn.....

We need to stay but make Iraq pay for it, it is that simple.
