PHOENIX--Today, Akram Musa Abdallah, a.k.a. Abu Saiaf, 55, of Mesa, Arizona, was sentenced to 18 months in prison as a result of his guilty plea to false statements to a government agency, in federal district court in Phoenix. In sentencing Abdallah, U.S. District Judge Neil V. Wake applied an enhancement because the offense related to international terrorism. This is the first time in the District of Arizona that the terrorism enhancement has been applied for this offense.Dennis K. Burke, United States Attorney for the District of Arizona, stated, "This sentence should serve as a strong warning to anyone who knowingly lies during a terrorism investigation. It is important that the public cooperate in investigations involving national security for the safety and security of all people in the United States, and that in those investigations members of the public are truthful and complete in their statements to law enforcement."

During interviews with the FBI, Abdallah denied that he was involved in fund raising activities for the HLF. In fact, between approximately 1994 and 1997, Abdallah was involved in numerous fund raising activities, including collecting donations and organizing, facilitating and coordinating fund raising events on behalf of the HLF in the Phoenix metropolitan area....
It's nice to see that the Muslim enemy has been taken out of circulation, for a little while, but the poison will soon re-enter the system. Too bad they didn't give him an option of deportation instead of jail.

American citizen? If not, expel him or figure out what legislation is needed to expel all those who are found guilty in some way of a connection to terrorist plots or, more broadly, "attempt to further the same goals as the terrorists who struck on 9/11/2001." If he has managed to obtain American citizenship, find out how he got here, who helped get him into the country from whatever country he comes from, , and how it is that he btained American citizenship, and what we can conclude about many different aspects of our Immigration and Naturalization Services and current legislation, inclluding the 1964 changes in the immigration laws that now need to be re-examined, and revised, in the light of new perils and new understandings of what cultural and other forms of cohesion require.
