The local imam incited the Islamic supremacists to attack the Christians. So yet another imam is exposed as a Misunderstander of the Religion of Peace™. Why didn't his Qur'anic study tell him to respect the People of the Book, and not to wage jihad against or expect them to assume dhimmi status? Aren't Islamic apologists in the West forever telling us that the only people who believe that Muslims hold to jihad against Jews and Christians, and in dhimmitude, are greasy Islamophobes? How is it then that so many Muslims, including even imams, turn out to be greasy Islamophobes?

Cairo (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Egyptian security forces have arrested 13 Coptic Christians - including four minors, subsequently released - victims of the attack on 12 March. They are being charged with illegal religious assembly, damage to public property, arson and assault. About a dozen Muslims, from a total of 2000 perpetrators, have been detained over the assault against 400 Coptic faithful at the Church of St. Michael in Mersa Matrouh in the north-west of Egypt.The violence was sparked by extremists, incited by the local Imam, Mohamad Khamis Khamis, during Friday prayers. From the microphones of the mosque of Al-Ansar, located near the church of Saint Micheal, near the building that housed the Copts, the Islamist leader urged the faithful to "holy war" against the Christian place of worship, ordering its destruction, and calling for the expulsion of the "infidels."
The crowd was trapped inside the church and the Copts attacked them, raiding the homes before setting them on fire. The raid resulted in the wounding of 23 Christians, including two seriously, so who have been sent to Victoria Hospital in Alexandria, 200 km away. Sources of the local church denounced the complete devastation of 18 houses, four shops and 18 cars. "These people are completely ruined," says the activist Wagih Yacoub.
The attack on the Coptic Christian community lasted over 14 hours. The - delayed - intervention of the security forces prevented carnage. The police transported the parishioners from the church, located in the suburb of Rifiyah, to their homes, which they are patrolling to prevent new attacks by extremists.
Matta Zakaria, a local priest, reported to the agency AINA "the arrest of four children, aged between 13 and 17 years by the police." By "deception", the agents conducted the youths to the police station asking them to identify the Muslim assailants. Among young people there was also a young man who was not in church during the assault. The boys speak of "insults and beatings" by police, who ordered the release after the intervention of Copt several priests. The police have opened a file of investigation against those arrested - Christians and Muslims - on charges of illegal religious assembly, damage to public property, arson and assault. The pre-trial detention will last 15 days....

I am unclear about what transpired as related in the third paragraph: "The crowd was trapped inside the church and the Copts attacked them, raiding the homes before setting them on fire." ???Did the Copts attack the attackers or is this a typo?

I hope everyone here who has a mosque built in their neighbourhood (and mosques are frequently built, as this one in Egypt was clearly built, as near to churches or synagogues as the Muslims can get, and bigger and higher if at all possible) took particular notice of *this* bit:

Who here, with a mosque in their neighbourhood, perhaps a mosque fitted with loudspeakers, a mosque that broadcasts or is angling to broadcast the azhan, a mosque squatting sneeringly close to, or overlooking, church, synagogue or temple (like the bully who shoves his face into yours at the bar), does not feel distinctly uneasy, after reading about this incident in Egypt?
Copy and keep this article. Print it out and put it in a file, labelled, perhaps, 'Muslim mobs incited/ marshalled by commands broadcast from Mosque loudspeakers'; together with other similar cases, from Pakistan and Indonesia and Israel (and there would be others) where hysterical incitement and then commands as to who to attack, where, and in what way, were given to rampaging Muslim mobs from the loudspeakers of mosques.
Send this article, and other articles relating similar incidents, to your local city or shire or county council, if so be they are mulling over Muslim proposals for the building of a mosque, and especially when there are Muslim demands for the installation of mosque loudspeakers so as 'to broadcast the 'Call to Prayer'.
No mosque, no minarets (i.e. no sniper towers) and no loudspeakers = less capacity for Muslims to marshal and command the screaming mobs.

I always knew it was quite possible that Oakland, California would develop a recognizably Muslim neighborhood. After all, it has the largest population of Eritreans in the nation, and is home to the notorious Your Black Muslim Bakery, whose leader had investigative journalist Chauncey Bailey murdered. Most cab drivers are Muslim, and most liquor store owners are Yemeni—yeah, ironic, I know.
What I didn't anticipate is that the Muslim neighborhood would develop *just blocks* from my home.

The large Oasis Market was built with help from a *$75,000 grant from the city*. Keep in mind, this is a private business. Most small businesses in Oakland are lucky if they can get *a loan* from the city.
One of the most ludicrous aspects of this article is the idea that Muslims have *improved* this neighborhood.
In truth, the district has been gentrifying for years—former Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown had a condo right in this neighborhood.
The real improvers of the neighborhood have been artists—this has been called "The Uptown Arts District", among other things-and Korean restaurateurs and shopkeepers. When the city put up Koreatown banners recently, the only ones in this diverse neighborhood to complain were Muslims. The banners were duly taken down.
