Head of Algeria's Superior Islamic Council a Misunderstander of Islam, says that prison for violent husbands violates Qur'an

"Good women are obedient....As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them." -- Qur'an 4:34

But...but...doesn't Qaher Sharif know that Islam protects women's rights? He must be some kind of Islamophobe!

"Algeria: Prison for Violent Husbands Is Against Koran, Mufti," from ANSAmed, March 15 (thanks to Block Ness):

(ANSAmed) - ALGIERS, MARCH 15 - The proposal to introduce prison terms for men who beat their wives goes against the Koran and the teachings of the prophet Mohamed, according to the head of Algeriàs Superior Islamic Council. Qaher Sharif fiercely criticised the bill presented to the head of state Abdelaziz Bouteflikàs by the head of the Consultative Council on Human Rights Farouk Qustantiti. "This man's aim is to violate a law of the Koran and of the Sunnah, and he meddles in subjects that are beyond his competence", Sharif said in an interview with the Arab-language edition of the daily newspaper El Khabar. "Hés done it before with the death penalty, and now with beatings," he added, asking "what difference can it make to him what goes on between a man and his wife?" The President of the Islamic Council said that he was stunned by Qustantinìs proposal, because "God has already pointed out precisely the way that a husband must behave towards his wife". He quoted verses 34 and 35 of the Surah on women, in which men are advised to "admonish women, confine them to their bed and beat them" should they commit "nushooz", a term signifying both infidelity and a refusal of sexual intercourse. Sharif pointed out that the text is so precise that it indicates the method of punishment to be used against the wife, and that this should be neither "too insistent, nor provoke disfigurement".

... the method of punishment to be used against the wife ... should be neither "too insistent, nor provoke disfigurement".

All Moslems, both male and female, are disfigured. By Islam.

*** 4:15 ***

The above report stands as proof of this.

Besides, the prisons would be jammed.

There was a long debate at this site on the proper translation of "dhraba" which is the verb "beat" or "scourge" in Arabic used in quran 4:34: "But chide those for whose refractoriness you have cause to fear; remove them into beds apart, and scourge them" (Rodwell's version of the Koran, Quran, 4:34)

[treat your wife like a wayward little girl - whip her and put her to bed to cry alone]

By long debate, I mean a ridiculous back and forth exchange with abdullah mikhail the paid disinformer from CAIR who, finally, pinned in his corner, came out with this ridiculous pile of steaming taqiyya claiming that "dharaba" really means "knock" and is a colloquial way of saying "f-ck" them, so that the verse would read:

"But chide those for whose refractoriness you have cause to fear; remove them into beds apart, and screw them"

so that the punishment for disobedient wives is that they are to be raped.

When I pointed this out to the paid disinformer from CAIR Dallas, he said that it was just something he found on the bookshelf of his office and he couldn't vouch for it personally.

The guy was contemptible as is the organization he works for. But watching muhammadan taqiyaa on display is amusing.

...and beat them." -- Qur'an 4:34 Yusuf Ali adds the word 'lightly'...This is a feel good addition...because it sounds almost benevolent, but in reality 'lightly' is not defined...It can mean anything the beater wants it to mean...
Anything short of disfigurement...So just don't hit her in the face and your in the clear...

Narrated Aisha: I have seen no women suffer like the believing women...

Q: What do you ask a new convert to Islam?

A: "Have you started beating your wife?"

Late next month I am giving a short presentation to some of the ladies from the parish church I attend, ladies from our branch of the 'Mothers' Union'.

I will be talking about what Islam does to women: what it teaches about women, and how it says women are to be treated by men.

Maybe this newspaper report from Algeria, in which a proposed law to punish men who beat wives is being condemned by a Muslim cleric as a heinous contravention of Muslim religious doctrine, will help the ladies to understand why Islam is very, very bad thing for women and families, and why *any* demand, from any Muslim in Australia, for official recognition of *any* aspect of 'sharia' in Australia, must be turned down flat. And why permitting further immigration of Muslims into our country is such a very bad idea...
