The propagation of non-Islamic faiths is forbidden under Islamic law, and "moderate" Morocco seems to be taking the opportunity to purge Christian aid workers in general. "Christian aid worker purge? Morocco orders dozens in five cities to be deported," by Eric German for the Christian Science Monitor, March 11:
Rabat, Morocco - Moroccan authorities have ordered dozens of foreign Christian aid workers deported in at least five major cities this week, calling into question an unspoken but long-standing truce between missionaries and their Muslim hosts.
"This is a change in policy from the top of the government," says Jack Wald, who has spent 10 years as pastor of Rabat International Church, a protestant congregation here in the capital. "It's like going to sleep, waking up, and all of the sudden you're in a different country."
The largest incident took place at an orphanage for 33 abandoned children in the Middle Atlas mountains on Monday. Moroccan police showed up in the village of Ain Leuh, located 50 miles south of the ancient city of Fez, and separated orphans from their adoptive parents before delivering a grim piece of news: the Moroccan authorities had accused the volunteers of spreading Christianity - a crime in this overwhelmingly Muslim nation.
Witnesses described an anguished scene as Dutch, British, Kiwi, and American volunteers hastily emptied households under stormy skies and hugged weeping Moroccan kids for the last time. [...]
Moroccan officials say they're merely targeting isolated instances of law-breaking.
"This is not a move against Christians, it's a move against people who don't respect the law of this country," said Morocco's Communication Minister Khalid Naciri in a telephone interview.
But Christians see a sudden, coordinated campaign that has reversed an unwritten understanding. [...]
Another wave of expulsions?
In the past week, police have expelled foreign Christians suspected of seeking converts from the cities of Fez, Tangiers, Essaouira, Rabat, and Marrakesh, according to interviews with pastors in several cities.
In recent days the Moroccan government has marked at least "several dozen" foreign nationals for expulsion, said one Western official who requested anonymity.
The spokesman for the US Embassy in Rabat, David Ranz, confirmed that Americans are among those Christians whom Morocco has declared unwelcome. Mr. Ranz declined to release specific numbers or names, but said Moroccan authorities have told the embassy "additional people will be expelled."
Orphanage office manager: 'We weren't proselytizing'
Mr. Naciri, the government spokesman, said people of all faiths remain welcome to worship freely in Morocco so long as they don't seek to "undermine" Moroccan Islam.
He cited recent moves the government has made against Islamist groups as evidence Christians aren't being singled out, saying "the Moroccan government today deals harshly with anyone who manipulates the religion of the people."
Equating jihadist groups with Christian aid workers: impressive.
I advocate a tit-for-tat response. The West should respond with the immediate deportation of all foreign-born Muslim clerics and activists.
Errata Sheet [Describing, Another Expulsion Undertaken With Far Greater Justice In A Not-So-Distant Future):
For "This is not a move against Christians, it's a move against people who don't respect the law of this country," said Morocco's Communication Minister Khalid Naciri in a telephone interview."
Read ""This is not a move against Muslims, it's a move against people who don't respect the laws of our non-Muslim nation-states," said the European Community's Minister For A Sustainable European Survival said in a telephone interview."
Excellent idea.
Australia could start with Sheikh Catmeat and Keysar Trad, and proceed from there.
The clerics of the mosques attended by assorted groups of jihad plotters, and the cleric/s of the mosques from which Muslim rioters are known to have issued forth to attack Australians during the so-called 'Cronulla riots' could be deported with no loss to anyone.
Yes, yes. Reciprocation is the fair way to go.
As I noted here, James Madison's original draft of the religious freedom article of the Virginia Declaration of Rights (itself a precursor to the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution) included the following passage:
" ... all men are equally entitled to enjoy the free exercise of religion, according to the dictates of conscience, unpunished and unrestrained by the magistrate, Unless the preservation of equal liberty and the existence of the State are manifestly endangered ...
The italicized words were omitted from the final article. Doubtless their omission has prevented much mischief since then, but today, the free exercise of a "religion" does indeed manifestly endanger "the preservation of equal liberty." A qualifier such as Madison wrote should accordingly be adopted as a constitutional amendment, that the menace posed by Islam's totalitarian religious ideology may be countervailed.
Morocco is worried because among the Berbers, who constitute far more than 50% of Morocco's population, more and more are coming to recognize that Islam is and always has been a vehicle for Arab supremacism, and this makes Berbers -- in Morocco, in the Kabyle region of Algeria, and even in France itself -- more amenable to thinking about all the ways that Christianity is superior to Islam, for Berbers possess, as some but not all of the 90% of the world's Muslims who are non-Arab possess, resentment against Arab linguistic and cultural imperialism, and it is getting harder and harder to suppress that spreading recognition. Those Muslim peoples who have a strong alternate identity to point to -- the Berbers, the Kurds, the Iranians -- are those who are ripest for listening to Christian missionaries. Arab identity, 'Uruba, may reinforce Islam and be reinforced by it. And those non-Arab Muslims who have lost all interest or even knowledge of their own pre-Islamic pasts, such as Pakistanis, are less likely than Berbers and Kurds and even Iranians to think of conversion. But still, there are those Muslims who start to think about what ails their societies and they come to see that the explanation for so much of the political, economic, social, intellectual, and moral failures lies in Islam itself. Naturally it is the most morally advanced people, even if they are simple and humble, who feel this the keenest. Apparently things were, from a Muslim point of view, getting out of hand in Morocco.
Perhaps the French, too, are helping to spread the Word, for raisons d'etat. . Even the atheist, if bemused and not fanatical, if he wishes to preserve the West, should be sensibly and stoutly supporting those intrepid souls, those Christian aid workers and missionaries, who dare to spread, sometimes only by their example, their vocation of charity, the word and The Word.
"Moroccan authorities had accused the volunteers of spreading Christianity - a crime in this overwhelmingly Muslim nation."
...and every other "overwhelmingly Muslim nation" for that matter.
Anti-proselytizing laws (for any religion except Islam), prohibitions on Muslim women marrying non-Muslim men, etc...we in the States should refer to such blatant discrimination at every opportunity as the Muslim version of "Jim Crow", in order to magnify the context of Islamic supremacism through the prism of our own cultural experience.
What a shame we in the West cannot reciprocate by expelling muslims for proselytizing or at least for inciting hate and jihad in mosques. Not only are muslims free to proselytize, they are free to meet in their temples of hate and openly discuss their plans to overthrow our governments and implement islamic law after they kill as many of us as necessary to achieve this goal. But that's ok; we're a nation of immigrants and we cannot survive without an endless influx of immigrants, even incompatible miscreants that hate us. They contribute a special flavor of diversity to add to the beautiful mosaic of multiculturalism. Everyone is welcome in the West; come on in and join the dark forces that are working day and night to bring us down. Don't worry, nobody will stand in your way or complain because if they did, they would be called "racist" and their reputations and lives would be ruined forever.
Maybe some day Western people will wake up and stop this madness. It is very depressing that the political class and Western media are still apologists for the islamic death cult. Their defense of the most evil religion ever invented and the people who practice it is the most shameful, perfidious betrayal I have ever witnessed.
Ideally, there would be reciprocity: no Moroccan government official -- unless he publicly rejects censorship of non-Muslims in Morocco -- should be permitted to visit any non-Muslim nation.
And the Christians spread the Word not only in Arabic (the local dialect) but ALSO in...the Berber language. I think *that* - right across North Africa, in Algeria as well as Morocco - is a really big draw.
Berbers who feel unhappy about having to listen to Arabic all day long, can just twiddle the dial and voila! there is their ancestral Mother Tongue coming out of the radio, saying all sorts of interesting things. They hear that the God of the Christians seems to be quite happy to talk Berber, and is perfectly comfortable with prayers made in Berber language.
And then, too, the Gospel stations play lots of lovely music in traditional and non-traditional idioms; since Christianity - like Judaism - actively delights in music and uses it in worship.
I wonder what would happen if someone dubbed Fr Botros' shows into two or three of the main Berber dialects and broadcast them 24/ 7?
Of course the Government of Morocco is worried....
If you were given a choice between Islam and ANYTHING ELSE, what would you do?
Hi all:
Well I can tell you that the Berbers in Europe integrate much better than the Moroccans. In Catalunya, there's one who's speaks an impeccable Catalan and even won the Ramon Llull prize (the richest literary prize) for her book I have it and it was kindly autographed by her.
I disagree with everyone about deporting for proletyzting; on the contrary I welcome it as the Moslem apologists will have to demonstrate that Islam is reasonable and rational. Since we know that Islam actively discourages rational enquiry , its apologists will be at a disadvantage. That's why alot of them suddenly threaten people who don't accept the da'wa. Islam isn't obvious or self-evident as its adherents believe.
Finally, there's always the economic factor:The Moroccans export their fruits to the EU. Maybe some enforced custom and health inspections are in order. Also, immediate deportation of Moroccan illegals back home will get their attention
At the orphanage school, the children spoke Moroccan Arabic, studied the Koran, and learned Muslim prayers as stipulated by Moroccan law, Mr. Broadbent says.
Like all Islamic states, Morocco institutionalizes the study of religion and prayers. This is so alien to us in the West who value secular teachings and a scientific approach to studies rather than dogmatic teachings. This proves that Morocco is still a backwards Medieval state not yet evolved to modern standards. This label is true for all Islamic states, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, North African heavy Muslim states, Central Asia, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Asian island states, Malaysia, Indonesia, and even secular-in-name Turkey. Once Islam is institutionalized, there is no turning back from its Medieval imperative of dogma ruling people's beliefs and way of life, including their education. All past efforts to modernize and elevate society to world standards of economic and social advancements are suddenly arrested and reversed. This is what happens when society 'reverts' back to Islam. Islam is a violation of all our modern human rights.
No more Western infidel aid should go to Morocco, nor should it go to any Muslim country for that matter. Its time they were made to stand on their own. When disaster strikes these countries, not another cent or penny should be sent there in aid. They're not grateful for it. They think it is theirs by rights, and no matter how much we give them, they'll still dance in the street and hand out sweets to their kids should another 9/11 take place, and more infidels are seen on our televisions jumping to their deaths from 100 floors up. I hate the thought that my taxes are being used to bail these murderous infidel-hating parasites out when so much needs putting right here, and in the knowledge they'd soon chop off my head for so much as sneezing outside a mosque.
And yet ANOTHER fine example of what we're up against..sorry no "latest update"..the 'ol mob rule cult tactics (kultikz?} strike again..

And who will take care of these weeping orphans, now that their Christian benefactors have been deported?
Most of the fruits of "Zakat"—often mistranslated as "charity" here in the West—go to fund Jihad, not take care of orphaned children.
