They have tried to defend themselves by saying they only were waging jihad, and jihad is not illegal in Pakistan. "Pakistani court charges 5 Americans with terrorism," by Zarar Khan for Associated Press, March 17 (thanks to Visvas):
ISLAMABAD - A Pakistani court charged five young Americans on Wednesday with planning terrorist attacks in the South Asian country and conspiring to wage war against nations allied with Pakistan, their defense lawyer said. The men -- all Muslims from the Washington, D.C., area -- pleaded not guilty to a total of five charges, the most severe of which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, defense lawyer Hasan Dastagir told The Associated Press....
The men, aged 19 to 25, were charged by an anti-terrorism court inside a prison in Sargodha, the city in Punjab province where they were arrested in December. They were reported missing by their families in November after one left behind a farewell video showing scenes of war and casualties and saying Muslims must be defended.
Their lawyer has said they were heading to Afghanistan and had no plans to stage attacks inside Pakistan.
The court also charged the men with planning attacks on Afghan and U.S. territory, said Dastagir. The charges did not specify what was meant by U.S. territory but could be a reference to American bases or diplomatic outposts in Afghanistan.
The men also were charged with contributing cash to banned organizations to be used for terrorism and with directing each other to commit terrorist acts.
"This last charge carries life in prison while the rest of the charges have lesser punishments," Dastagir said....

Well, okay then!
This is all show by Pakistanis. These five will be convicted and in a year or two will be released on some pretext as Pakistanis have done with many other terrorists.
Another form of taquiyya practiced by Pakistan government to placate kaffirs!!!
Or they will "escape" from prison while the Pakistani version of Sergeant Schultz repeats - "I know nothing, I know nothing".

Does this mean that the "world center" of terrorism has shifted again, this time not from Iraq to Afghanistan but now, somehow,to the United States? Why don't we pretend so, so that all the money now being lavished in Dar al-Islam is spent here at home, as we "re-construct" our own country, making it prosperous and stable and unified, with possibly a greater chance of success, and certainly exhibiting greater common sense, than we have in our reason efforts at messianic sentimentalism, in attempts to bring "freedom,", and impossibly optimistic changes to, such Muslim countries as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan.
Has anyone thought to "Thank" the D.C. Imam who assisted them along with their Jihad Path??
I am sure some of the family members of the five would like to give him "personal" thank yous by this time..
How would the Obamahdi view your suggestion?
With a look that is more in sorrow than in anger, our Dear Leader would lift his noble chin and sonorously intone that the United States of America is in much better shape now that his administration is working on yet another stimulus package and that yes, we can continue to borrow money from the Chinese to pay jizya to the Muslims.
Pakistan charges five U.S. Muslims with terrorism

.................
There's the rub. When devout Muslims condemn "terrorism", they often leave a handy out for "Jihad", which renders the whole thing moot.
What a strange position this is for countries like Pakistan, which, as Muslim countries, can hardly condemn Jihad—yet, in the name of Jihad, the government can always be under threat from those devout Muslims who consider it "insufficiently Islamic", and thus legitimate targets for Jihad themselves.
That doesn't mean I have any sympathy for any of this vicious idiocy—just that I recognize that there is no "winning" this game, unless a regime is willing to become the Taliban or Al-Shabab.
Still, that these Jihadists—challenging even the Muslim status of as "Islamic" a regime as Pakistan's are—no matter how nominally—*Americans* is entirely repugnant to me.

Well, then—that's OK. Surely Pakistan considers the Americans and their "apostate" Afghan collaborators to be legitimate targets of Jihad. It might be impolitic to mention that to the Americans, though, Hence, the legal proceedings...
A kangaroo court, wrapped in a circus, inside kabuki theater. Send these "boys" home and try them for treason.
Geert is RIGHT. Which Moslem can you ever trust? Remember that "moderate" Germans were bullied by Hitler and were so in fear that they complied. Yet the Naxis were somewhat of a minority.
Such is human nature. "moderate" Moslems will comply with the demands of the "islamists" if threatened. Of course by complying with the demands of the Islamists, even if under threat, they gain "booty" - which is ROBBING their neighbours and enslaving them. It is all in the Koran and the Hadiths so is a "holy" duty and, by Moslem standards perfectly OK. Comply or burn in hell!!! WHO could resist?
Must make clear that I believe that there ARE some totally decent Moslems with good values but I rather think that they may be ignorant of the real Islam or choose to ignore it - until, that is, they are threatened at which time self preservation kicks in. They'll, with a few exceptions, do what is demanded.
There really IS a need for realisation in the West
Actually if I burn in hell then I'll be surprised to say the least. When I drop off this mortal coil then I expect to experience nothing because I'll be gone totally. And I'm a Chistian (or rather believe in Christian values) but peppered with some common sense.
