What's the problem? The US extended an invitation to visit Washington with an assurance that the Pakis wouldn't have to be scanned. The Pakis then decided to go somewhere else not included in the original invitation. They should have gotten an extension of the assurance in the original invitation.

They were just looking for an excuse to be offended!

...or maybe they just didn't want any kaffir to see their jiggly parts.

So it turns out that the TSA has not granted a general exemption to Muslims for airport body scanners. As Wafa Sultan is reported via this website "...Unfortunately, she stated, after a fatwa was issued claiming these scanners violate Muslim teachings regarding modesty, our TSA agreed to capitulate and substitute pat-downs by members of the same sex for Muslims."

I had a feeling this was not correct because even after 2-3 requests on this website no one was able to come up with any substantiation of this claim.

Unfortunately this careless claim by Ms Sultan has only damaged her credibility.

Also, since they were an official delegation, why didn't the Pakistani government provide a plane so that they wouldn't need to take a commercial flight? I'll bet Nancy Pelosi doesn't get scanned when she boards one of the Air Force planes she's requisitioned for her travels.

For fifty years the Pakistani military (and latterly, some of its zamindars who, when civilian rule is temporarily allowed, are always the rulers) has been inveigling the Americans to send military equipment, money, more advanced military equipment, more money. It began long ago, with that CENTO military alliance, of no discerinible worth save to the countries -- Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Turkey -- that received that military aid and money from Great Britain and the United States. But the belief that the Dulles brothers swallowed, and those in the State Department's Arab desk who were eager to have the American government transfer its support from Israel to the Arabs -- any Arabs would do, but especially to the Arabs in wonderful Saudi Arabia (this was in the period before the "Palestinian people" had been invented), was that "Islam is a bulwark against Communism" which turned out to be not quite true (see Nasser's link to the Soviet Union, see all the PLO personnnel given military and terrorist training in Soviet and Soviet-bloc camps) and also was a case of massively missing-the-point, for Islam is also a "bulwark" against liberal democracy.

It was the American taxpayer who paid for metallurgist A. Q. Khan's little science project and the subsequent quite expensive production of the "Islamic bomb" now possessed by the Muslim state of Pakistan.

It was the American taxpayer, unwittingly and therefore unprotestingly, who has seen his government transfer, since 9/11/2001, tens of billions of dollars -- much of it hidden in the general Pentagon budgtet -- to the malevolent and meretricious government, or rather successive governments, in Pakistan.

And now we have the Pakistanis, in poll after poll, expressing their distrust and even hatred for the Americans. Why? Because despite those tens of billions, we as Infidels are always to be mistrusted and hated, no matter what we do, and it is the failure of the American government to grasp that, and construct policies that will halt the continued flow of aid to Pakistan, especialloy of all military aid, and recognize that the historic role of Pakistan in creating, nurturing, and putting into power the Taliban has not really ended, and that the only reason there is some tentative effort by the Pakistani military, here and there, is to maintain the flow of aid from the Americans (and the desire of Pakistani military men to get their hot little hands on ever-more advanced planes, drones, and other American weaponry), and because the Taliban here and there, as in the Valley of Swat, the Taliban threatened the old order, the landowners and the traditional local leaders, and this was regarded as damaging the interests of the Pakistani ruling class, and could not be tolerated. It has nothing to do with a change in attitude toward the American Infidels, and it has nothing to do with any moral revulsion at Muslim terrorists, of the Al Qaeda or any other variety, and in Pakistan itself, there exist, and are broadly popular, a baker's dozen of terrorist groups -- Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad, and so on (it is again missing-the-point to tediously spend time trying to parse precisely what, in aim or immediate victim distinguishes such groups from each other or from Al Qaeda).

The most telling thing in Pakistan today, a country whose economy would collapse if the Americans and other Westerners ceased to provide aid and comfort of every kind, is the mass fury at the Americans for daring to arrest, and put on trial, and convict Ms. Siddiqui, the sinister lady who, despite being allowed into our country, despite being given every advantage, as a scholarship student at MIT and then Brandeis, despite that is having had a charmed existence, harbored her malevolence against Infidels, and allowed (possibly through her husband) such malevolence to become a hatred that made her an accomplice of would-be mass-murderers, and this is the person for whom rallies are being staged all over Pakistan, and the Americans denounced. Well, we should take this in, take it in and ponder deeply the nature of Pakistan, its history of treachery toward us, and its deep permanent hostility, and figure out the source of that treachery and that deep and to some inexplicable hostility. It is the responsibility of those who presume to instruct and protect us to not be puzzled by the world, but to understand it, and to make policies based on that understanding. And in the case of Pakistan, the one thing to understand is Islam, Islam, Islam.

My first thought was COOL! I'll feel much safer on a plane if these Muslims and all Muslims would quit boarding plans. But then I realized that Islam has exceptions.
