Prosecutor of Arkansas jihad murderer: "Whether he claims to be a Martian who flew in here on a spaceship or whatever doesn't matter"

And yet it does matter. How can anyone work to prevent this kind of thing from happening again without knowing why it happened in this case? Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad's father says: "I want to know how, who and why this happened to my son. And I say to you, if it happened to my son today, tomorrow it can be your son." Indeed it can -- but to get answers to his questions would entail investigating the Islamic faith and what is going on in mosques inside the United States as well as overseas. And neither Larry Jegley nor anyone else has the stomach for that.

Thus we can be sure: it will happen to more young American men. Because nothing whatsoever is being done to try to make sure that it won't.

"A father grieves for his son -- and the soldiers he's accused of shooting," by Kristina Goetz for the Commercial Appeal, March 28 (thanks to Axel):

Every other Saturday, Melvin Bledsoe makes a two-hour drive from Memphis to visit the son he still calls by his given name. [...]

Bledsoe studies the face of this dark-haired, brown-eyed 24-year-old in blue prison scrubs and sometimes catches a glimpse of the happy-go-lucky Carlos he raised. Other times, it's Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, the Muslim convert charged in a shooting at a Little Rock Army recruiting center last summer that killed one soldier and injured another.

That day, two privates who'd recently completed basic training were taking a cigarette break outside when Muhammad drove in front of the building and allegedly opened fire.

Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, of Jacksonville, Ark., was wounded. Pvt. William A. Long, 23, of Conway, Ark., was shot dead. Long's mother was in the parking lot and heard the shots. She looked around and saw her son lying on the ground.

Bledsoe wants to understand how his son turned from middle-class Memphis roots to become a self-described member of al-Qaida who waged what he has described as a "jihadi attack on infidel forces."

"I want to know how, who and why this happened to my son," Bledsoe said. "And I say to you, if it happened to my son today, tomorrow it can be your son. This is something the American people need to wake up to. Tomorrow they could be looking for someone with blond hair and blue eyes."

Muhammad's trial, which is set for June 7, won't likely provide those answers. Pulaski County prosecutors, who are seeking the death penalty in the case in which Muhammad is charged with capital murder, attempted capital murder and 10 counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, won't explore his religious beliefs or his claimed extremist ties.

"There's just no need for me to worry about what he says or to try to understand his motivation or anything else," said Pulaski County Prosecutor Larry Jegley. "All I care about is what he did and what I think I can prove that he did. Whether he claims to be a Martian who flew in here on a spaceship or whatever doesn't matter."

If we were under Martian attack, that would be a criminally stupid statement. But of course we are under Islamic jihad attack, and no one (except me) will say that Jegley is criminally stupid for ignoring that. Instead, most will hail his freedom from "bigotry" and "Islamophobia."

Bledsoe, 54, says his heart "bleeds for the families of the victims." But he believes the case has broader implications than authorities admit. In the months since the shooting, he has begun his own investigation.

Bledsoe says his son began to change about a year and a half into his studies at Tennessee State University in Nashville, shortly after his first brush with the law.

"He decided to go off to Knoxville one night with a group of other guys and got into some trouble," Bledsoe said. "He was arrested for having illegal guns and a little marijuana."

But the charges were dropped and expunged from his record, according to Bledsoe. The incident "scared him straight." He wanted to change his life but didn't think he was getting enough from the Baptist church. He checked out a synagogue, then a Nashville mosque.

His son started watching Malcolm X movies and read the teachings of Louis Farrakhan but soon became a Sunni Muslim. Bledsoe believes that foreign nationals his son met in Nashville led him to extremist ideas.

Over time, his son became deeply observant, and family members became concerned that he was too focused on religion. But they never heard him talk about extremist ideas or doing harm to anyone. He was "just someone trying to find his way in life," Bledsoe said.

In 2007, Carlos Bledsoe legally changed his name to Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad. In September of that year, he traveled to Yemen to teach English and learn Arabic to better study the Quran. He told his family he wanted to find a wife.

"I did not like it," Bledsoe said. "But, you have a year's contract at this place where you're going to teach. I'm saying to myself, 'You aren't going to like it. In a year's time, you'll be dying to get back.'"

Muhammad kept in touch every so often. Then one night after he'd been in Yemen about a year, Bledsoe got a late-night phone call from a woman whose English was so broken he could hardly understand her. It was Muhammad's wife, Reena. They got disconnected. Bledsoe worried that something was terribly wrong.

A few days later, they reconnected. Reena told Bledsoe that his son was in prison because he'd overstayed his visa. He later learned that Muhammad also had a fake Somali passport. After more than three months in jail, Muhammad was deported.

About four months after his return, he was working at a new office of his father's tour bus company in Little Rock. His family had no sense of what was to come.

On June 1, law enforcement officials say, Muhammad allegedly waged his attack with an assault rifle.

Not long after his arrest, Muhammad made a collect call from jail to The Associated Press to say the killing was justified because of U.S. military action in the Middle East. In January, he wrote a letter to the judge, saying he wanted to plead guilty to all charges and was affiliated with al-Qaida.

"I wasn't insane or post-traumatic, nor was I forced to do this act, which I believe," he wrote, "and it is justified according to Islamic laws and the Islamic religion. Jihad -- to fight those who wage war on Islam and Muslims."...

Bledsoe's questions remain unanswered. He wants to know why his son's case isn't in federal court, and how he was able to buy a gun at a Walmart in Little Rock despite being interviewed previously by the FBI.

Bledsoe said Muhammad was interviewed by a Nashville-based FBI agent during his incarceration in Yemen and that the same agent interviewed him again in Nashville when he returned to the United States. Bledsoe says the FBI should be held accountable for what he believes is negligence in not preventing the attack.

"The FBI knew exactly what the hell was going on and they did nothing to stop it," he said. "No, they did not pull the trigger, but they allowed it to happen."...

Daris Long, father of the Army private killed in the shooting, has his own questions and criticisms. By classifying his son's death as nonhostile, the federal government has, he said, "abandoned my son on the battlefield."

"Being gunned down in uniform by a self-described Islamic warrior obviously does not rise to the level of a terrorist act as far as I can tell under this administration," the retired Marine officer said. "... The failure to include the death of a serving U.S. soldier and the wounding of another outside an Army office in America's heartland as a terrorist act by a home-grown jihadist who has ties to Yemen himself is beyond me."...

Me too, Mr. Long.

Whether he claims to be a Martian who flew in here on a spaceship or whatever doesn't matter."

So motivation does not matter...? How are they going to establish a case against him without motivation? Usually murder requires some kind of motivation that is directly connected to the act. If he had no motivation at all, then he is insane, and probably will end up in a mental hospital for a life of cake, ice cream and bingo games...

From article...His son started watching Malcolm X movies and read the teachings of Louis Farrakhan but soon became a Sunni Muslim.

Maybe 'that' is the motivation...Those same motivations remind me of someone else we all know...

I feel so much for the families involved-involvemt in a cult"Mansonhommed"

MELVIN BLEDSOE: "The FBI knew exactly what the hell was going on and they did nothing to stop it. No, they did not pull the trigger, but they allowed it to happen."

Carlos Bledsoe had yet to commit a crime when he was interviewed by the FBI. If he had been detained without cause, or prevented from purchasing a weapon without a criminal record, his father would no doubt have been screaming discrimination and litigating on behalf of his son.

For law-enforcement, you're damned if you do...and damned if you don't, particularly in the eyes of those who refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions...or as in this case, the actions of loved-ones. Carlos Beldsoe made the personal choice to embrace Islam and then went on to deliberately murder two of his fellow citizens. His father ought to stop looking for scapegoats.

ATTENTION ALL AMERICAN, CANADIAN, FOREIGN, MARTIAN, VENUTIAN, AND ZONTARIAN BORN MUSLIMS, AND K-MART SHOPPERS:

I am watching your every move, and trust me, I am everywhere.

(secret ex Head of the CIA ... morphing, as I am typing this, into ... not so secret ex Head of the CIA)

If you read this, I may have to kill you, after His Obamination has his ass handed to him in 2012, and a president with gonads is elected.

They also never want to follow up on motivation when it involves black on white crime. Even though statistics prove that there is an out of proportion of black on white crime including rape of white women, the idea that it is anything other than just "random" crime with no racial motivation is vigorously ignored. Any white that commits any crime however is scrutinized for any and all evil white racist "thoughts" which can be added to the charges of any actual crimes that occurred and which can also be used to make the case a slam dunk with the race sensitive jury. Looks like Islam and Jihadists will luckily fall into the same treatment that blacks get due to them also being a "chosen" minority group. I like the way Islam is a minority "racial" group even though they always brag about how many billions and trillions of Muslims there are.

Mr. Jegley isn't up to the task to face what has fallen into his lap. I urge everyone to let him know that his ineptitude as Robert correctly points out, will directly contribute to the deaths of more innocents.

This local prosecutor is actually correct in keeping the focus of his case on this creature's acts, rather than his motivations. He's a lot more likely to get a conviction that way, and a lot less likely to have it overturned on appeal. It is the federal government who ought to be connecting the jihad dots in this case and many others and is refusing to do so, "to our great detriment," as Stephen Coughlin has pointed out in detail:

http://www.strategycenter.net/research/pubID.176/pub_detail.asp

"I want to know how, who and why this happened to my son," Bledsoe said"

What did you teach your son? Did you try hard to ingrain on him "deeply" your own values, your own passions for what a great ideology the American constitution is? What are your values? Are you like most progressives that stand for a big middle mushy nothing?

" he didn't think he was getting enough from the Baptist church. He checked out a synagogue"

Why? Did this lost soul, this vacuous shell of a man now need system that controlled his every move, thought, and direction because he was never given anything solid to believe in for himself.

"He wanted to change his life but didn't think he was getting enough from the Baptist church. He checked out a synagogue, then a Nashville mosque.

His son started watching Malcolm X movies and read the teachings of Louis Farrakhan but soon became a Sunni Muslim...
Over time, his son became deeply observant, and family members became concerned that he was too focused on religion.."

As a Roman Catholic Christian these three paragraphs jumped out at me. Yes, young people want to be challenged. Mushy-gushy pc kristianity-lite doesn't do it for them. I think that is what is meant by "not getting enough from the Baptist church". But I bet there were plenty of strong Baptist churches in the Nashville area. To go to a synagogue and then a mosque shows that one has not really been brought up to believe in and embrace the Truth of Christ's Passion and Resurrection. THAT is the parents' responsibility long before the kid even enters his teens; NOT the FBI's.

I speak from post-Vat II experience when lots of Catholics fell away. Even as an adult my parents kept challenging me to stay true to my Roman Catholic faith amidst a lot of liturgical and clergical craziness. And so, though I wandered in the liturgical desert for 20 years, I still KNEW I wasn't going to give up on Christ or His Church. And thank God, I found the Latin Mass and devout parish priests who brought me back into the fold. Young people are flocking to our parish and the new Order our pastor founded with JPII and then Card Ratzinger's blessing.

This young man, like millions of young Christians, was not truly catechized and in the midst of what Osama called "the strong horse" of Islam, he was indeed attracted to what appeared to be strength and rigor. Though the atheists and agnostics may not want to admit it, strong, devout Christians are the bulwark of America's defense against jihad. The mushy-gushy middle will not hold.

Oh, Paleo, it might be ovaries rather than gonads. :-)

Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Jegley has been in the political scene here in Arkansas for quite a while. He has portrayed himself as an avid defender of justice for years. He is a good attorney, but he is as politically correct as you can imagine.

Arkansas has been invaded in recent years by the Muslim hordes. Not the Arkansas of twenty or thirty years ago. Many gas stations, resturants, hotels etc., now owned by Muslims. The medical center attracts them, as well as state government.

Was working in Little Rock, when this terrorist attack happened, and you hardly ever heard the word terrorist mentioned. That can be attributed to Obama, and his leftist Muslim leaning tendancies. This can also be atrributed to the fact that Democrats currently are the majority here in Arkansas.

Not unusual to see Muslims in their tent suits parading around the state to show their ability at assimilation. Recently a friend had their car keyed, causing major damage to the car in broad daylight by a Muslim male. Did not know the person at all, yet the car was keyed. Shows the great extent of their assimalation into society here in Arkansas.

My heart goes out to the family of the victims of this terrorist act. It is not surprising viewing the large muslim population in Little Rock, and Memphis. More events of this type will more than likely happen. We are getting people that now convert to Islam, who are native, but there is a large influx of Muslim immigrants to the state also. The ivasion is taking place here in Arkansas just as in all states.

This war will never be won, with political correctness, with officials ignoring the cause of such events, with communities such as the the Black community not policing themselves. The father wonders how it happened. It happened because of past differences in race, it happened because of a blatant immigration policy, it happened because of political correctness, it happened since Obama views Muslims with deep sympathy.

NEWSFLASH

Obambi in Afghanistan.

What a joke.

Blame Bush/Copy Bush ... Blame Bush/Copy Bush

What a pompous effete clown.

Yeah, Bambi, we can't figure out just how disingenuous you really are.

Go for it!

I'll bet the troops are soooooo glad to see him, knowing that their commander in chief will make sure that whatever military response they're sent to fight in, it will be one of halfway measures. You know, so as not to project such a large fingerprint, and all. To keep up appearances for that annoying other half of America, at the expense of those that put their lives on the line. I'm sure they love him and his crew.

Cornelius is correct that this guy's father should stop looking for scapegoats. The explantion for all this is quite simple. Here we have a real loser with a potential for violence and he found a natural ally----Islam. End of story.

Muslims = Martians. Well, Mars is the god of war.

Blame it all on violent video games and rap music.

All the father of this the man has to do is attend a mosque or a jihad/communist lecture at one of the University campuses and he'll find out the real reason why his son went the way he did.
Read some of the pamphlets being handed out.
Watch some of the videos he was watching on YouTube.
Chat with some of his new "so-called friends".
He'll get his own answers to his questions. All he has to do is look.

I think you are right in many cases, Think Thrice. But Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula was Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad's other victim, who was wounded in the attack. Muhammad tried to murder Private Ezeagwula as well—and he is black.

Here's a picture of Pvt. Ezeagwula:

Here he is back with his family after being released from the hospital—he is second from the left, still looking very somber:

The former Carlos Bledsoe shot Pvt. Ezeagwula three times. I think his main concern was killing Kafirs.

Right Krazy,

I also think presidents playing general is a real bad idea.

But I always thought good coaches would make good presidents.

So Reagan was Knute Rockne, ...

but I see Obama as Marques Des Queensbury.

ThinkThrice's point stands, however, for the reason that the sociopolitical process that has led our society to evade the problem of black racism against whites while absurdly exaggerating white racism against blacks, is a part of the same sociopolitical process that continues, in a myriad ways, to suppress rational thought in the face of the problem of Islam.

And no matter how many times we repeat the genuinely true mantra that "Islam is not a race", it seems to have little or no effect on the PC MC perception of Muslims as a wonderful rainbow of Ethnic Peoples or even, in the sense of a Lévi-Straussian construct, as members of a Race. And this PC MC perception is not merely a fanciful crotchet pulled out of thin air: it is enormously reinforced by the fact that 9 times out of 10, when we see a Muslim, we see someone who looks "ethnic".

Note to FBI:
Bledsoe's new middle name is Mujahid. It means "holy warrior for Allah." Got that? Red Flag. Also, tip for the future: flag anyone named "Shahid" or, if female, "Shahida." It means "martyr." As in "suicide bomber." Remember 9-11? Learned anything since then? Hello?

Amen, Wellington; as often, your insights are spot-on. I would sure like to know what was going on in young Bledsoe's mind during that time he was searching for his spiritual home. That would make some interesting, if depressing, reading, I'd wager.

Whether he claims to be a Martian who flew in here on a spaceship or whatever doesn't matter.

But, what if it was apparent after the murder that the Martian was impelled by an ideology that called for the destruction of all believers in non-Martian belief systems?

What then?

*** 92:8 ***

Reading comprehension tests should be administered to all law school applicants. No pass; no go. That'd cut down on the delusion now rife in these islands of Marxism.

If we start conflating the struggle against Islamic law with racial issues, we hugely burden the struggle against the spread of political Islam (jihad and sharia). Why burden that struggle, which is already difficult enough? Unlike Islam, race does not threaten fundamental Western values of freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, etc.

And diverting the fight against totalitarian Islam into racial issues will understandably turn off many potential allies who might have been interested in resisting Islam. Not because those potential allies are PC. If you try to turn jihad and sharia into a racial issue, one may wonder if you are a biological or racial determinist. And if that is what you are, what place does freedom of spirit have in your worldview? Too little. And that's what makes a certain kind of emphasis on racial distinctions misguided. If human beings have within them no real freedom, no non-physical core of spirit, then of course race and genes matter more than anything, because then we are merely biologically beings subject to a rigid physiological determinism. Then biology, race, and genes are destiny. But if we are free beings, or beings at any rate partly free, we cannot be completely reduced to our genes or our race.

I don't see how your expression of racial resentments or racial disdain here, at this website, helps the resistance against Islam, and I do see how it hinders that resistance. Do you really think that whatever benefit there might be from expressing those resentments here, and uncovering at this website one or another PC deception with regard to race, outweighs the damage done to the resistance against Islam?

I'm not saying there is no place for greater honesty or openness about racial issues. Shelby Steele, who like Obama, is half white and half black, but unlike Obama, is conservative, has become well-known for delving insightfully into the psychological complexes many whites and blacks have developed in relation to each other on the basis of race. All that is interesting. But does it help the resistance against Islam to express racial resentments here?

I'm not sure why race has come into this discussion, and why you repeatedly bring it up here at Jihad Watch, as I've never heard Spencer talk about race (except to point out that Islam is not a race, it's an ideology) nor have I ever sensed any racial agenda whatsoever in anything he has said or written. He is clearly not about race. He's about protecting freedom of religion from the spread of supremacist Islam. I think most of us here value your highly perceptive and insightful writing, Hesperado, but I find this tendency of yours to bring up race misguided, at least for this website and for the resistance against political Islam.

If I've mischaracterized your statements or position, I imagine you'll enlighten me and others who might be wondering...

In Sahih Bukhari, the most canonical of hadith collections, Muhammad said, "Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him."

Both Daris Long and Melvin Bledsoe have my deepest, heartfelt sympathy.

But, to Daris Long, I also say he is 100% right about the pusillanimity of our government.

I hope Spencie shows up at the courtroom to convince the DA of his mistakes.

traeh,

Thanks for your questions -- they'll give me an opportunity to clear up some misconceptions about my position.

"If we start conflating the struggle against Islamic law with racial issues, we hugely burden the struggle against the spread of political Islam (jihad and sharia)."

I'm not conflating them; I'm pointing out how PC MC conflates them.

"Why burden that struggle, which is already difficult enough?"

Our struggle is burdened in great part precisely because of the conflation by PC MC of racial issues and Islam.

"...one may wonder if you are a biological or racial determinist."

I don't see the symbolism "race" as having much to do with biology. I don't subscribe to any theory that claims to gnostically explain why Mankind is mysteriously differentiated. At best, we can have recourse to an analysis of behaviors of cultures and subcultures, and go from there. There has developed a definable, and sociopolitically powerful, ideology of anti-"racism" in the past century, where the "racism" to which they are opposed has morphed irrationally out of contact with the reality of racism: and this irrational hypersensitivity to an imagined white Western "racism" allegedly of monumental proportions requiring massive government actions is directly related to the very similar posture, by the same PC MC types, of an irrational hypersensitivity to an imagined "Islamophobia".

"I don't see how your expression of racial resentments or racial disdain here, at this website, helps the resistance against Islam"

I haven't expressed any racial resentments or racial disdain that I can think of. As Spencer says to those who accuse him of Islamophobic resentments and disdain, if you could prove I have through my writings, I'd appreciate it. What I have been doing, however, is pointing out the racial resentments and disdain by PC MCs against Western whites, through their ideology and agenda of anti-"racism", and how that ideology and agenda has a direct relationship to why they persist in defending Muslims and in vilifying critics of Islam.

"I'm not sure why race has come into this discussion, and why you repeatedly bring it up here at Jihad Watch..."

I hope my responses above clarifies this.

OF COURSE it matters...jeez! As we all know, WHENEVER any Muslim does anything bad, he did it BECAUSE he is a muslim...case closed! No need for any further investigation of causation.

What a brain trust you people are. This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Whenever a Muslim commits a terrorist act, he does it because of the exhortations to war in Islamic scripture and tradition, i.e. Qur'an 9:5, 9:29, 9:111, etc., etc., ad nauseam -- as Bledsoe/Muhammad candidly stated:

I wasn't insane or post-traumatic, nor was I forced to do this act, which I believe, and it is justified according to Islamic laws and the Islamic religion.

Right back at you, boy.

Thank you for the clarification.

If I understood you, you have no belief in a return to racially segregated societies. Your discussions of race are critiques of PC-MC exaggerations and hypersensitivity. In putting "race" between quotation marks, and then referring to "cultures and subcultures," you seem to be putting in doubt the very concept of "race," and denying the significance that racists give to that concept. Perhaps you agree with those scientists who deny strict scientific meaning to the concept of race, insofar as all the races have intermingled and none are pure anymore. Insofar as the concept of race assumes a non-existent racial purity, and absolutely differentiated racial groups, there is no such thing as race. You include all the "races" within the category "Mankind," which implies that you have no agenda -- such as the U.S. Constitution once had -- of giving unequal rights to people on the basis of race. If so, all that seems to me good.

I agree with what you have been saying about hypersensitivity and unreality of the PCMC position on race, and at the same time, I wonder if you underestimate the significance of the fact that in the U.S. people who are dark-skinned only got full equality in law about a generation ago, after a century of Jim Crow and centuries of slavery. Some hypersensitivity is to be expected. Jim Crow was no joke. And of course even after full equality in law, there was for a long time not yet a sense of full equality in society. Yet the changes for the better, I think, have been incredibly fast. In my lifetime, I have seen race relations change significantly in roughly ten year phases. Every decade the cumulative changes for the better, on both sides, black and white (more like pink and brown, as conservative Thomas Sowell once put it), have been noticeable. I think the hypersensitivity has been diminishing.

I think you are right to critique that hypersensitivity as part of your critique of PCMC, but you should understand that despite your explanations, you will generally be misunderstood, precisely because of PCMC, partly because you often say things that are subtle, complex, and therefore not totally or immediately transparent. What you are saying will often, indeed perhaps most of the time, be taken as having an underlying racial agenda of some sort. PCMC has compelled racists often to be crypto-racists, people who refer only indirectly and equivocally to their racial beliefs. So when you criticize the PCMC attitudes about race, many, perhaps most people will understand you to be someone who wants to go back to Jim Crow, or to apartheid, or to some sort of segregation, or to eugenic elimination, or to God knows what, unless you explicitly say, no, I am against those things, I believe in full legal equality for the races.

You may think you are doing enough to prevent that misconstrual of your position. I suppose I must disagree. We mustn't give anyone reason to suspect in us some racist agenda. It must be clear and explicitly stated, especially when one critiques current "progressive" views about race, that one believes in full legal equality for the races. Otherwise people will naturally wonder just how "anti-progressive" one is. Does one want to go back to before the civil rights revolution? Back to Jim Crow? Back further? One then becomes responsible for burdening the resistance to political Islam with the racial agenda others will mistakenly perceive in one's position.

traeh,

In putting "race" between quotation marks, and then referring to "cultures and subcultures," you seem to be putting in doubt the very concept of "race," and denying the significance that racists give to that concept.

Like most ideologies, including irrational or gnostic ideologies, they are not utterly devoid of truth. They are a mish-mash of fact and fiction. As I said, Mankind is mysteriously differentiated: there do seem to be differences and different groupings. That over the centuries there has occurred lots of intermixing doesn't wipe the slate of differences blank.

Perhaps you agree with those scientists who deny strict scientific meaning to the concept of race, insofar as all the races have intermingled and none are pure anymore.

Your formulation expresses an apparent contradiction: if there is no meaning to the concept of race, then there cannot be "races" that have intermingled and are no longer pure.

Insofar as the concept of race assumes a non-existent racial purity, and absolutely differentiated racial groups, there is no such thing as race.

That strikes me as an unwarranted, or unnecessarily restrictive, "Insofar as". The ostensible fact of Mankind has two components:

1) a differentiation into groupings that have physiological components

2) varying and complex degrees of intermixing among these groupings that tend to obscure, but not eliminate, "purity" of any one grouping, if by "purity" is meant any criteria at all by which to distinguish the groupings. "Purity" in this context is not perfect, but nevertheless must be posited as a factor, else there would be no differentiations into groupings.

...I wonder if you underestimate the significance of the fact that in the U.S. people who are dark-skinned only got full equality in law about a generation ago, after a century of Jim Crow and centuries of slavery. Some hypersensitivity is to be expected.

Even granted expected reactions against an unjust past, there is the problem of over-reactions. And that is what has developed throughout the West: a massive, mainstream, pathological over-reaction, which directly impacts upon the West's inability to condemn Muslims for the Islam they support. Also, the massive irony and paradox of this post-modern development of Western anti-racism seems lost on the Leftist/PC MC ideologue: the racist West changed and became anti-racist! And furthermore, no other culture now or in all history, has achieved such a degree of enlightened freedom from xenophobia and tribalism as the post-modern West has. Instead of relaxing and being proud of that massive fact, the Leftist/PCMC maintains a paranoid vigilance about elements in his own society that must be monitored and controlled, lest this tenuous progress slip away into ultra-right-wing lynch mobs and Evangelical militia groups who are always lurking ready to plunge the West back into its former evil self. Meanwhile, a very real, and not fantasy-based, danger presents itself massively all over the world and within the West, but because the people who concretize that danger don't fit the anti-racist template and stereotype (White, Far Right, Christian), the danger they present is not only ignored, it is positively supported and protected, while those sounding the alarm are vilified and smeared as "racists". If you can't see this as a profound and reckless disease of the heart & mind throughout Western culture, I don't know what would convince you.

What you are saying will often, indeed perhaps most of the time, be taken as having an underlying racial agenda of some sort.

Because of my faith in the West, and because I see PC MC as an irrational hiccup in history that cannot last long (it has only been dominant and mainstream for the past 50 years in the West), I refuse to comport myself according to its irrational rules. Besides, even the most careful anti-Islam critics (such as Spencer and Pipes), including those who go out of their way to avoid uttering anything remotely even smelling of racism, are regularly accused of "racism" and bigotry by PC MC.

...unless you explicitly say, no, I am against those things, I believe in full legal equality for the races.

Nah, that will hardly placate the voraciously irrational maw of PC MC. They have a non-negotiable axiom: Any condemnation of anything Islamic is ipso facto racist. The anti-Islam person who would try to protest sincerely that he is not racist would just be assumed to be lying.

A few years ago I wrote a long essay delving into these issues. If you're interested (warning -- it is very long!), here's the link:

Racism

Thanks Hesperado,
I'll have a look...

Abdal, you silly muslim! No other "religion" in the world today universally promotes and executes terrorist attacks except...that's right...ISLAM! Munich, The Achille Lauro, Rome, Lockerbie, Nairobi, 9/11, Nigeria, to name but a recent few. We know what the common denominator is here, don't we? Is it any wonder that when the word 'terrorism' comes up, MUSLIM is the first word associated? Wives beheaded, genitals mutilated, cartoonists attacked with axes, adulterers stoned to death, again, to name but a few. All performed by muslims--muslims who are so proud of their "accomplishments" that they jump to claim "credit" for their atrocities. What a sorry record for this ugly, disgusting lot.

Are you, then, the islamic brain-trust here?
You make shooting fish in a barrel look difficult--it's like dueling with an unarmed man!

Hesperado,
I've been reading the essay you linked to. I have a question about the following statement.

In this particular dynamic, an intrinsic paradox becomes evident—the paradox between unity and differentiation: this is a paradox precisely because the differentiation exerts a centrifugal effect on the unity, while the unity imposes a counterforce to that centrifugal effect. To the extent that racism veers into a pernicious vector, then the centrifugal effect of race mythology acquires dominance and threatens to undermine the unity (as in such concrete ideological movements as German Nazism and Islam’s division of Mankind into Muslims and Infidels). When the opposite effect is undertaken—the veering into a counter-racism, as with PC, then an artificial unity threatens to undermine the differentiation.

You seem to be treating the Islamic division of the world -- Muslims vs. Infidels -- as a racial division. I don't understand that.

You also speak of

the paradox between amorphous boundaries and distinct entities

That seems to me a paradox central to all that is. In some forms of existence, that paradox is relatively latent, in others, relatively patent. But it seems always to be there. I'm reminded of the color spectrum: distinct colors, yet they flow into one another without definite break. Infinitely divisible, and for that reason paradoxically an absolute unity inwardly differentiated.

I enjoyed your essay, read all of it. I left a comment at your website (after the essay). Normally I might have more to say, but am a bit under the weather.

"OF COURSE it matters...jeez! As we all know, WHENEVER any Muslim does anything bad, he did it BECAUSE he is a muslim...case closed! No need for any further investigation of causation."

It is cute how "Islam" or "Muslims" collectively, as a group, try to pass off any problems in their societies as being remnants of the civilization from before the time that Islam arrived. Honor killings for instance, they stomp their feet and wail that it has nothing, nothing nothing nothing to do with Islam, it is all religions, it is from before Islam came. Well if Islam was so great then it would have by whatever doctrines or beliefs make it so great found some way to stop those bad practices from before. So the problem is not Islam's fault, sure, check, got that. Then, at the same time, even though Islam did nothing but conquer a land and subjugate it, making all forms of study and progress near impossible, they do claim as "Islamic" all sorts of advancements from civilizations they conquered and subjugated but whose advancements only survived in spite of Islam not because of it. Just like Muhammad himself, the ideology he created is utterly delusional.

And one more thing, when Islam fights so bitterly and ceaselessly to gain and maintain absolute total 100% control of a society, that every single move anyone makes is scrutinized and held up against the demands of Islam, then when things go wrong they still find someone or something else to blame.

traeh,

"You seem to be treating the Islamic division of the world -- Muslims vs. Infidels -- as a racial division. I don't understand that."

As I argue elsewhere in that essay, "race" is not merely a biological category, it also has become a mythological / ideological category. If we were to rigorously require that the concept of "race" be only about physical biology, then of course the Islamic division of Mankind would not be a racial category. But I use the term as ideologues have twisted it -- for when ideologues create their alternative realities and cause sociopolitical disturbances in the world, then alternative realities become, unfortunately, part of reality. And the Islamic division of Mankind is not totally disconnected from perceived physical differences, insofar as Muslims tend to believe that the physical matter of Infidels is impure and can have actual concrete effects, such as the soiling of the Koran when an Infidel touches it, or the ruining of a Muslim's prayer if he comes in contact with the skin or hair of an Infidel just before or during prayer -- or even more radical manifestations, such as avoidance of contact at any time; and of course, the general revulsion, hatred and paranoia Muslims feel about Infidels that attends these physical manifestations.

"You also speak of

the paradox between amorphous boundaries and distinct entities

That seems to me a paradox central to all that is."

Yes; and my point was that PC MC tends to suppress one half of that paradox (the mysterious phenomenon and persistence of differences), while genuine racism tends to suppress the other half (the unity aspect in tension with the differences).
