U.K.: Al-Qaeda cell came "within days" of attack around Easter of 2009

This was the case where officials were sent scrambling due to an assistant police commissioner being photographed with highly-classified documents visible. The new details illustrate what a close call this may have been, no thanks to said commissioner. "Al-Qaeda came within days of terror attack on Britain last year, court hears," by Duncan Gardham for the Telegraph, March 9 (thanks to all who sent this in):

An alleged al-Qaeda terrorist cell arrested in the North West was within days of launching an attack on Britain a senior officer in MI5 has told a tribunal.
The men, who were arrested in Manchester and Liverpool in April last year, were said to be in direct contact with al-Qaeda in Pakistan, using coded email messages that talked about cars and girls.
They were said to be "operating in a similar manner" to those planning the mass casualty attacks of July 7 2005 and the trans-Atlantic airline plot of 2006.
Sources at the time said the gang was targeting Easter shoppers but police found no sign of bomb-making equipment and they were never charged.
The operation had to be brought forward after Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick, then Britain's most senior counter-terrorism officer, was photographed entering Downing Street with details of the operation visible.

The "Al-Qaeda Pipeline," still in action:

Four of the men, who had all arrived from Pakistan on student visas, are now appealing against a government decision to deport them on national security grounds. [...]
He said they were "planning a terrorist attack on the UK, directed and orchestrated by al-Qaeda and part of that direction was by coded email passages and the attack was most likely to take place between 15 and 20 April 2009 on which basis the arrests came days before the attacks were due to take place.
"There is a recognition that at the time of the arrests, the appellants on that day were not ready to launch an attack but that doesn't preclude doing it at the time they said.
"The service retains an open mind about what would happen between the 15th and 20th but our view remains that it was an attack on the UK. There is no other credible explanation."
Referring to the emails about girls, the officer added: "On the face of it without the surrounding context. these emails were designed to look like a conversation about girls but I do not assess these were young men talking about girls, I believe it was attack planning in some detail."
He said the men were acting in a similar way to those involved in the July 7 and airlines plots, adding: "They were all planning terrorist attacks in the UK under the direction of al-Qaeda, aiming for mass casualties....

Unfortunately, it will take several more catastrophic attacks by Muslims to wake up the sleeping masses.

The world doesn't learn from near misses such as Operation Bojinka. Most can't understand the significance of a non-successful attack. An American Beslan still might not convince liberals that Islam does not mean peace, but submission and that it's intrinsically violent and deadly.

OBL has been given permission to kill up to 10,000,000 Americans.

Yet Obama administration feels it necessary to prosecute 3 Navy SEALs for giving a terrorist a fat lip.

Supplementary report.

"Pakistani men arrested 'within days of massive Al Qaeda terror attack on Britain'"

When will infidels realise that terrorism is an intrinsic and essential part of Islam? And - the $64000 question - what practical measures can they take when they do realise it? Will governments still remain in politically correct denial of what the majority of their people know?

On the basis of past actions by the current (useless) UK government, the actions that they take will be a concoction from the following:

1) Refer to these individuals as "a few isolated extremists" that are not reflective of the "majority of moderate Muslims".

2) Chant "Islam is a religion of peace" a few times.

3) Set up a "multi-agency task-force" consisting of the usual collection of uninformed time-wasters. These will no doubt include imams, community leaders, Muslim "rights" advocates, apologists, etc. Plus a good sprinkling of Muslim politicians and hidden stealth jihadists.

4) Produce "remits", "working papers", "key stakeholder talking points", "inclusiveness and diversity agendas", etc.

5) Debate until the noise dies down.

6) Release the accused into the care and supervision of "local community leaders" for de-radicalisation.

The accused will then travel to Pakistan for a "rest and holiday" with family members.

They wil then return to the UK with better bomb-making skills.

Repeat the above until people are killed. Then convene a "post-incident inquiry" involving all of the above in order to "learn lessons going forward".

Four of the men, who had all arrived from Pakistan on student visas, are now appealing against a government decision to deport them on national security grounds. [...]

Right Sean, thats what likely to happen.

If these Muslims claim that they will be tortured in Pakistan, they will be allowed to stay. They will then be eligible to all the Welfare that Britain normally gives to Muslim terrorists.

"Unfortunately, it will take several more catastrophic attacks by Muslims to wake up the sleeping masses."

Fortunately, as Muzzlems recognize the obvious truth of your observation, they demote the catastrophic attacks, but concentrate on increasingly more successful jihad-by-moslem-inundation of Western institutions, armed forces and government.

Unfortunately, that may mean that "the sleeping masses" will never wake up.

Or when they finally wake up it will be next to muzzlem masses that never slept. Unfortunately.

deport, deport, deport would be the chant that the Brits need to tell their politicians.

Cars and Girls.

Prefab Sprout - 1988.

Misappropriated by these grubs.

From the article -

'Referring to the emails about girls, the officer added: "On the face of it without the surrounding context. these emails were designed to look like a conversation about girls but I do not assess these were young men talking about girls, I believe it was attack planning in some detail."'

Oh, I think these jihad-plotters probably did have girls in mind - only the 'girls' they meant were the houris of Paradise, allah's plastic sex dolls with perpetually self-renewing virginity, who are promised as reward for those Mohammedans who immolate themselves in the process of attempting to human-sacrifice as many non-Muslims as possible.

Pursuant to my posting above.

In speaking of 'girls' the Muslim plotters may well have been referring to the heavenly houris. But they might also have had something else, a little more mundane, in mind.

I have just checked the file where I keep stories like this.

In September 2009 the Vancouver Sun reported upon the trial of a jihad plotter, one Ali Mohamed Dirie, a Somali Muslim living in Canada.

"While he was imprisoned for gun smuggling, Dirie spoke repeatedly with the alleged ringleader, and talked often about buying more guns, which they referred to using code words such as "girls," "wives" or "black chicks."
