UK: Muslim woman barred from flight after refusing body scan

This is good. The body scans are odious, and they should be scrapped, as they ultimately will prove ineffective to stop the ever-innovative jihad terrorists. Jihadis are blazing new trails in the illustrious history of Islamic inventions by always devising new ways to elude airport security procedures and murder flying Infidels. But as long as the scanners are in place, no single group should be able to bypass them and then fly -- and that is what Muslim groups have been angling for, an exemption from the scanners for Muslims specifically, which demonstrates breathtaking chutzpah in light of the fact that it is Islamic jihadists who have made them necessary in the first place, and a breathtaking audacity in the openness of its attempt to smooth the path for jihad terrorists in airports.

"Muslim woman barred from flight after refusing body scan," from the Telegraph, March 3 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A Muslim woman is thought to have become the first passenger to be stopped from boarding a flight after refusing to go through a full body scanner for religious reasons.

The passenger was at Manchester Airport for a flight to Islamabad when she was selected at random to pass through the security screen.

She was warned she would not be allowed to board the Pakistan International Airlines flight if she did not comply with the request but she decided to forfeit her ticket.

Her female travelling companion also left the airport after she cited ''medical reasons'' for not wanting to go through the scanner.

More than 15,000 people have already passed through the £80,000 Rapiscan machine at the airport's Terminal 2. The Government introduced the scanner at Heathrow and Manchester airports last month.

Security staff use the X-ray machine to check for any concealed weapons or explosives but it has attracted criticism for also showing clear outlines of passengers' genitals. Civil liberties campaigners have criticised the scanners as an invasion of privacy.

Sources at Manchester Airport said the flight to Pakistan about two weeks ago was busy and that no other passengers objected when chosen to go through the full body scanner after check-in....

Why "at random"? Aren't the security people looking for Muslim terrorists? If someone offers outward and visible signs of someone being a Muslim, then shouldn't that someone not be subject to searches only because chosen "at random" but rather, because it makes perfect sense, for the safety of all the passengers, the crew, and the plane, to subject all Muslims to such searches? No doubt there is the problem of over-inclusiveness, but that's a problem we can all live with. The problem of under-inclusiveness, when it comes to screening for possible Muslim terrorists, is not a problem we can all live with.

SHE?

Can anyone prove it was a she?

The scanner could "prove it" ha ha ha
Let them start their own airline.

"Her female travelling companion also left the airport after she cited ''medical reasons'' for not wanting to go through the scanner."

Is carrying bombs or weapons a "medical reason"? Oh, that's right. It is Islamic medicine.

Totally agree with the profiling. Target resources where they will have the greatest effect.

However, in the UK you can be assured that some Muslim organisation or other will already be compiling a database of any of the "brothers and sisters" that are selected for this "assault on their dignity".

Then they can compare it with the numbers of kuffar that have been selected in order to claim "Islamophobia, hate crime, demonisation of Muslims, human rights, etc, etc".

Of course, that will then "offend the entire Muslim community" to which the only responses will be demands for 'special concessions for Muslims' and 'compensation'.

A demand for a public inquiry requiring justification in the case of each and every "brother and sister" will probably be the next move.

Hugh is right, this should not be at random. It should be everybody, whether they look like a Mohammedan or not.

And anybody who refuses the body scan should automatically be searched. It sounds as this wasn't done, and this so obvious that I can't believe they could be so stupid!

A "flight to Pakistan".

No Infidels should be flying to Pakistan, nor to anywhere else in the Dar-al-Islam -- at least not in anything other than a military aircraft or a private jet as part of an intelligence operation. It's like these stories we keep reading, about some hapless white Western numbskulls hiking in the hills of Iran or trampling through the jungles of Sudan, who get abducted and are lucky they get out alive without their genitals hacked off.

Therefore, I frankly don't give a damn if such planes are blown up by exploding Muslims.

If and when our government caves in to their demand of being excluded from this scan, we'll have a farcical situation where potential terrorists will be able to board planes without being scanned but my dotty 80 year old granny will be xrayed!

You can just image the scene, women in burkha and men in full Arabic gear breezing past the security while the rest of us have to queue up for hours waiting to be scanned, photographed and patted.

They're laughing at us.

What are the odds that muslims will get their way on this?

Time for Hugh Fitzgerald's "Muslim Only" Airlines!

Come on, Muslim brothers! Think of the business opportunity! I'm sure Muslims would rather fly on a "superior" airline with their fellow Muslims serving as flight crews (of course, the stewardesses would be wearing burqas and the pilots would not be that good at landing.......... but it would be halal). There is always a chance of being destroyed by mean, old kuffars if you deviated from your flight plan, but the benefits out weigh the occasional exploding jihadi. And you might not be permitted to land in New York or any other kuffar country......... but going on the haji - no problem. Unless some jihadis want to seize the most holy mosque at Mecca (they have before, remember?). But the risk of suddenly blowing up is always present in Islam.

One muslim woman refusing to be scanned sounds like an attention grab.

A muslim woman refusing to be scanned AND her female travelling companion refusing (for a completely different reason) to be scanned sounds very suspicious.

Also, isn't there an alternative to a scan, such as a body search by a security officer of the same sex?

Having flown to/from the UK in the last month to/from airports without a body scanner, EVERYONE had to go through the normal scanners AND have a pat down search. No one objected and most welcomed it in the interests of their safety. Of course it was not going to a Muslim-majority country as in this case.

I think that, in the event of refusing the body scan for "medical reasons", she might have been given the option of a fairly heavy pat down and an electronic search. NOT the option of no search.

In this case they adopted the most sensible approach of "Refuse body scan = No fly".

Haha, tanstaafl - MAD magazine was WAY ahead of you! They published this back in the 70's:

http://www.snapdrive.net/files/505931/MAD%20airline.jpg

That would probably happen on the first muslim only flight...

The real solution here is the deliberate profiling of Muslims, but this won't occur until many more infidels have been blown up, courtesy of more misunderstanders of the religion of peace and tolerance. And it might not even occur then if PC/MC nonsense continues to trump common sense and justifiable suspicion. In any case, one thing remains certain and that is that Islam is the world's biggest pain in the ass.

Couldn't agree more!!!!

Good for the security officials, but I agree with Hugh. Why should it be at random?

But a Muslim airlines? You mean a separate airlines with airplanes designed and built by infidels in Dar-al-Harb, fueled by petrol extracted and refined by infidel technology and using radar and satellite communications equipment built by infidels in Dar-al-Harb, flown by pilots trained in Dar-al-Harb? Pshaw...How about instead upgrading the Silk Road and using camel trains to go back and forth to Islamabad? I'm sure the same Muslims who are so devout as to insist on dressing in Seventh Century garb would feel much more comfortable using Seventh Century transportation, as well. Besides, it could be pointed to with great pride as being completely "Made in Dar-al-Islam." It's a great business opportunity waiting for the right entrepreneur.

'You can just image the scene, women in burkha and men in full Arabic gear breezing past the security while the rest of us have to queue up for hours waiting to be scanned, photographed and patted.'

Isn't it terrible that this is the reaction we expect from our government ?
We EXPECT them to cave in to the muslims .

plus ..........
The infiltration of the muslims into the labour party in a London borough - the subversion of the democratic process -very important
NOTHING on the news
Just like the projected inviting 50 million more muslims into Europe via the lisbon treaty - NOTHING .

One muslim woman refusing to be scanned sounds like an attention grab.

This was an attention grab.

She went to the airport, knowing full well that she would be asked to submit to a full body scan, and with the intention of refusing, hoping that she would be denied permission to board. Now she has an excuse to sue, which was the goal in the first place.

This entire affair was planned, including the use of a woman as the "victim".

Hell, no. I'm sure that an all-Muslim designed and built airplane would fly. It would look kind of odd, a biplane with jet engines, but.............

We can keep on improving the locks on our doors, all the while we are told that criminals are victims and are not to blame.

Pointless really, nothing more then 'catch up' with jihadists.
We sacrifice freedom and comfort so freely, jihadist are wining this war.

Terror is a tactic jihadists use, the goal is to install fear. This goal, they have achieved successfully. We live in fear, we accepted all the discomfort that is now involved in flying.
This will keep getting worse. They will keep winning.

Scanners don't stop jihdists, just slows them. Continue this line, we will all be driving in tanks.

Flying Donkey Airlines. motto: "Screw the FRIENDLY Skies"

"Welcome to FDA, sir. Smoking or non-smoking?"
"Huh?"
"Your luggage. Is it smoking or non-smoking?"
"Smoking, please."
"I'm terribly sorry sir, but you can only bring one wife with you as carry-on. You'll have to check the rest".
"May Allah curse you to the deepest pits of Hell with pointy things in your head!"
"Yes sir. But you'll still have to check them."
"OK. What's the in-flight movie?"
"'The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich'".
"WHAT?"
"Don't worry, sir. We'll only be showing the first half."
"Oh, OK. By the way, do you sell flight accident insurance?"
"Ha ha ha. That's a good one, sir. Well, have a safe flight."
"I will, Allah-willing."
"Quite right sir. Well, happy landings!"
"Happy WHAT?"
"Land... Never mind. Praise be to Allah."
"betchyer ass."

General background information.

Manchester Airport is the airport for movement between the UK and Pakistan for the very large muslim population in the north of England.

The last time I passed through there I was struck by 2 things. Firstly one departure hall was entirely taken up by 40+ check-ins for Pakistan International Airlines and secondly a large number of the security staff checking passengers were "Asians". I suppose given the first point the second is logical but it did make me a little uneasy.

BTW Flights to and from Ireland via Manchester have been subject to extra security and profiling for 30+ years and no has complained about that.

In this case they adopted the most sensible approach of "Refuse body scan = No fly".
I think the sensible approach is Refuse body scan = No fly, full and thorough search at a later time convienient to airport security, and arrest if anything is found.

Otherwise terrorists and smugglers just need to try a couple of times until they're not picked, or send a team in and leave behind the ones selected for scanning.

If labour win the next election (joke) muslims will be excused from these hideous scans. It is their right to carry bombs on to planes. It must be in their war manual somewhere (quran)Even though planes were not invented then. muslims should not be allowed to fly, period. Except on a Trident missile. If a tiger escapes from a zoo, you do not go looking for a goat or pig!!!

I can't share a lot of the pro-search views expressed here (other than the equality sentiments). Why? Because of the most important and wisest thing Robert wrote:

"The body scans are odious, and they should be scrapped, as they ultimately will prove ineffective to stop the ever-innovative jihad terrorists. Jihadis are blazing new trails in the illustrious history of Islamic inventions by always devising new ways to elude airport security procedures and murder flying Infidels."

We need to face the fact that jihadists need to be hunted down before they show up at the airport with a boarding pass - or an employment application. That may be out of fashion right now, but it is still true.

I agree, I too think that this situation with the women was planned so that they could sue the airline. These m---er f---ers should definitely have their own flight companies. One airline company could be called "M.F." for "Mozoid Flights". We'll know, however, what the "M.F." REALLY stands for. When is the UK going to start showing its real ballocks? We know they exist because every once in a while we see them.

I travelled extensivey when I was young.A search is no big deal: it's a brief stop like going through customs and anyone who objects mustb surely be suspect.
