U.S. searching overseas for "radicalized" Americans

But they still manifest no awareness of stealth jihad activity in the U.S. "US searching for 'radicalized' Americans," from AP, March 5 (thanks to Block Ness):

LOS ANGELES - The top U.S. diplomat in Pakistan says the Obama administration does not know how many Americans might have disappeared overseas to train with al-Qaida or other terrorist groups.

The number is not thought to be large, but Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson outlined a possible "nightmare scenario" -- people holding U.S. passports receiving terrorist training then returning legally to the U.S. to commit violent acts.

She said in a speech Friday to the Pacific Council in Los Angeles that the U.S. is working with Pakistan and other governments to figure out how to identify such people.

She said after the speech "there are more out there than we know about."...

Oh, yes. And many are right here in this country.

Yeah, it would be nice if the same sense of urgency were expressed within the United States, but I understand our ambassador's point. Lashkar-e-Taiba used American David Headley as their terrorist advance man into Mumbai before the 26/11 terrorist attacks because, having American papers, he faced little screening on the way into India. The Pakistan terror organizations are soliciting American members because of their freedom to move around the world...

"...the U.S. is working with Pakistan and other governments to figure out how to identify such people."

Why doesn't the US just throw some more money at the Pakis? It worked so well when they ponied up almost 2 billion just this last year to get rid of the Taleban.

I am sure ISI will encounter insurmountable difficulties in picking out those blond-haired blue-eyed yankees from the swarthy features of the native Afghani and Paki Taleban rank and file.

Is this just more window-dressing by the Obama administration to keep the folks at home quiet until they have given away enough of the US to formally declare their success at making the US a "Muslim Nation"?

I'm still laughing at the report of US choppers attacking an ACORN voter registration center in Syria during Obama's campaign.

"Radicalized Americans?"

Did they check the White House yet?

That the reason they are looking overseas and not here.

"Radicalized Americans?"

Did they check the White House yet? - shiek

That's a good one, shiek yer'mami. Especially check in a certain room called the "Oval Office." I betcha there's a little prayer rug in there utilized 5 times a day.

From article...The number is not thought to be large..

Translation...'We don't have a clue'....

It's just those 'minute minority' of misunderstanders acting up again...

"U.S. searching overseas for "radicalized" Americans"

Why? Are we running low?

"The top U.S. diplomat in Pakistan says the Obama administration does not know how many Americans might have disappeared overseas to train with al-Qaida or other terrorist groups"

It is a sure bet they didn't disappear overseas to train with the Jehovah Witnesses...

Pakistan, the tourist hotspot that it is, should be alerted any time a foreigner arrives...

Slight of hand, diversion tactic.

Why don't they go to one of the dozen or more live-fire terrorist training camps in the USA? There's one in PA, another in NY, and others scattered over the eastern two-thirds of the country.
Seems a bother to travel all the way to Somalia just to do a bit of live-fire. The classroom stuff and exercises can be done anywhere, even the local mosque. Well, maybe bomb-making school has to be outside the USA because the neighbors would complain about the loud noises from over the hill.

The time has arrived to institute the kind of security measures Israel has had in place for decades. Israel actually has an advantage since terrorists don't receive Israeli passports. Our terrorists do have US passports and can leave the country to receive terrorist training and then return to kill us, all with US passports. Yet, we continue to issue passports and then claim "there are more of them than we realize". So let's add even more to that number by God! We are being victimized not only by domestic jihadists but a government which is too politically correct and imbecilic to know how to protect us. Yet, since we cannot impeach or demand resignations, we are held like hostages to this same 'government'. We are the ones experiencing anxiety and fear while the terrorists move about freely and gleefully plotting our destruction.

The most important thing that "radicalizes" Americans is the presence of mosques, and a growing number of Muslims, not all of them quite as "moderate" as the government would have you believe. The more Muslims, the more mosques, funded by the Saudis or not (Shi'a mosques are also perfectly good at "radicalizing" young Americans), the greater the number of likely converts or "reverts" and the greater the danger to Americans. It's not hard to understand. What is hard to understand are those who, in our government, and especially those who might interdict Saudi money, and also change our immigration and naturalization policies so that they reflect a modicum of common sense, refuse to recognize this for fear of what they might then have to do, and that for them would be difficult, that for them would be too taxing. And thus the threat grows and grows, in North America as, at a much faster rate, in Western Europe. This does not have to be. Members of the political class can, like Geert Wilders, begin to see things aright, without any parti pris. What's keeping them?

The whole problem is a carryover from the Bush administration mindset ... namely, all religions are basically "good" so that some sort of perversion must take place to convert "The Religion of Peace" in this instance, to "radicalization". Since America is basically good, this radicalization must occur somewhere offshore.

Another idea blurring the analysis is the "Man is basically good" idea. I am not sure where I come down on man being basically good, but I am certain with the right/wrong training, man comes out right or wrong, depending on circumstances.

I still think Islam must be confronted on a purist level. You say to the law abiding muslims, look, all men are created equal, and you have freedom to the point that your freedom does not impair the quality of life of your neighbor.

Tom Tancredo still has the acid test for muslims in this country ... "Do you support implementaion of shariah law, so as to supercede the Constituion?"

Answer: NO

OK, but we reserve the right to closely observe your behavior here, because your Koran, your "Bible", has lots of anti-constitutional features that we abhor.

Answer: YES

OK, we are deporting you immediately.
