Judge Ottmar Breidling becomes yet another in a long line of non-Muslim judges to take it upon themselves to lecture jihadis about the true nature of Islam and jihad. The arrogance and presumption is astounding, and one wonders also whether Breidling has ever wondered where this "strange, hate-filled notion of jihad" came from, and why so many Muslims seem to adhere to it. "German court jails Islamists for foiled U.S. attacks," by Matthias Inverardi for Reuters, March 4:
DUESSELDORF, Germany (Reuters) - Four Islamist militants who admitted planning "a monstrous bloodbath" with foiled car bomb attacks on U.S. targets in Germany were convicted on Thursday of conspiracy to murder.A court in the city of Duesseldorf also convicted the men of belonging to a foreign terrorist organization, and sentenced them to between five and 12 years in jail for the plot in September 2007.
The three Germans and one Turk were in at an advanced stage of planning to use three car bombs with 250 kg of explosives each to attack U.S. targets in Germany to kill hundreds of people. They were known as the "Sauerland group" after the area of western Germany where they were caught....
"You were planning a monstrous bloodbath that would have killed an unfathomable number of people," said Judge Ottmar Breidling at the conclusion of the 10-month trial. Their goal was to kill at least 150 American soldiers stationed in Germany, he added.
"Never before had there been a terror attack of that dimension in Germany," Breidling said. "You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled notion of jihad and you turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Islam."
The four wanted to time their car bomb attacks to coincide with a vote in parliament on whether Germany should extend its military presence in Afghanistan. They wanted to influence public opinion in Germany against the Afghan mission. Breidling sentenced the group's ringleader Fritz Gelowicz to 12 years in jail. He also handed Daniel Schneider a 12-year sentence because he fired at a police officer during an escape attempt. Both were converts to Islam.
And Misunderstanders of their new, peaceful faith!
The court also sentenced Adem Yilmaz, a Turkish citizen, to 11 years and Atilla Selek, a German citizen of Turkish origin, to five years. Prosecutors sought terms of 5-1/2 to 13 years. All four, who were members of the radical Islamic Jihad Union, reacted without any visible emotion to the verdict.
The four had identified discos and airports, even the U.S. Ramstein air base, as possible targets. They had faced a maximum of 15 years in jail. Confessions and their cooperation with prosecutors reduced their prison sentences, the judge said....
5 to 12? And what, I wonder, will the germans do with these misunderstanders once they are freed? Oh, I forgot, by then the magic pixie dust of multiculturalism will have turned these would-be homicidal mass murders into peace loving, tax paying pacifists. Whew, that was a close one!
"You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled notion of jihad and you turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Islam." - Judge Ottmar Breidling in Dusseldorf
Dear Judge: You are blinded by political correctness and by your own ignorance, because I sincerely doubt you have even looked in a Koran to see what it says.
In the Koran, nothing else is mentioned more than the topic of fighting. Fighting, Judge, fighting - not peace, fighting.
The Christian (I'm assuming) Judge is actually telling the Jihadists that they have "misunderstood" Islam!
Just how far down Alice's rabbit hole are we?
"one wonders also whether Breidling has ever wondered where this "strange, hate-filled notion of jihad" came from, and why so many Muslims seem to adhere to it."
People - We of JW are smarter than the current U.S. Dhimmi government and a deluded Judge in Germany.
Islam is SIMPLE to understand. Here's Islam:
"Ugh! We kill Infidel in name of our moon god (Jihad) until islam rules world." Ugh! And place of wimmen is under heel of man's boot, Ugh!"
Simple. I have to wonder what the IQ of this Judge is.
The irony - these terrorist wannabes get less prison time than an Infidel who touched a quran...
So close and yet so far...
More on the rhetoric of Judge Ottmar Breidling:
"Never before had there been a terror attack of that dimension in Germany," Breidling said. "You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled notion of jihad and you turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Islam."
What about the "terror attacks" that took place steadily on those who resisted Hitler all throughout the 1930s, usually by Stormtroopers?
What about the "terror attacks" of Kristallnacht in which many large synagogues were burned to the ground, and Jewish shops attacked, and many Jews beaten to death by delighted mobs of Nazis having as much fun as they could? Not attacks designed to "terrorize" the Jews of Germany? Judge Ottmar Breidling ought to have reminded everyone -- no one should forget for one minute -- the Nazi period, and the similarites to the attitudes and behavior, of the Nazis. He should have simply inserted a reference so that the statement now would read:
"Not since the days of the Nazis have there been terror attacks of that dimension in Germany," Breidling said.
And as for that second sentence, imagine the Judges at Nuremberg declaring "You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled notion of Nazism and you turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Nazism." No, that sentence should also have been subject to modification:
"You were in thrall to a strange, hate-filled ideology, an ideology that divides the world uncompromisingly between Muslim and non-Muslim, and mandates a state of permanent war between the two until such time as Islam everywhere dominates and Muslims rule everywhere. You turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Islam."
Put them together and here's how it should read:
""Not since the days of the Nazis have there been terror attacks of that dimension in Germany," Breidling said. "You were in thrall to a strange, hate-filled ideology, an ideology that divides the world uncompromisingly between those who believe in it and all others, that is between Muslim and non-Muslim, and mandates a state of permanent war between the two until such time as Islam everywhere dominates and Muslims rule everywhere. You turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Islam."
Much better.

Perfect.
Can someone translate that into German and send it to Judge Breidling?
In his memoir, Yousef, the 32-year-old son of a Hamas founder, claims he was one of the Shin Bet security agency's best assets and was dubbed The Green Prince, a reference to his Hamas pedigree and the Islamists' signature green color.
During his 50-minute interview, for which he arrived with armed security, Yousef took shots at Hamas leaders including political chief Khaled Meshaal. He lashed out at Hamas, saying the organization lives in the Middle Ages.
And he hurled his most inflammatory comments at Islam, which he called a religion that teaches people to kill.
"It is not a religion of peace," said Yousef, who converted to Christianity. "The biggest terrorist is the God of the Quran. I know this is very dangerous and this will offend many people. The more you follow the steps of the prophet of Islam and the God of Islam, the more you get close to being a terrorist."

Judge Ottmar Breidling, could you read the following ayas from the Qur'an and tell me if you really think that Islam is a peaceful religion?
Quran 9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."
9:112 "The Believers fight in Allah's cause; they slay and are slain, kill and are killed."
8:39 "So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)."
8:65 "O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding."
9:38 "Believers, what is the matter with you, that when you are asked to go forth and fight in Allah's Cause you cling to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? Unless you go forth, He will afflict and punish you with a painful doom, and put others in your place."
47:4 "When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah's Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter, either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam."
What are you "misunderstanding" about that "smite their necks" thing?
"You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled notion of jihad...
Is there any notion of jihad that's not strange, and hate filled? Even the notion of 'inner struggle jihad', is strange.
Allah is strange, the Quran and hadith are strange, and all hate filled...How can 'inner struggle' help anyone when the basics of what they are struggling with is strange and hate filled? This is a lot like trying to dry off from a shower while you are still in it...It would seem that all this 'inner struggle' has no effect except to perpetuate strangeness and hate...So the judge was right, but I bet he does not understand just how right he really is...
Hugh and Darcy, even more recently than the Nazis, there was the terrorism of the Communists and the Stasis in the former East Germany.
"You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled notion of jihad and you turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Islam"
Let's make that: "You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled religion named Islam."
Much better.
"You were blinded by a strange, hate-filled notion of jihad and you turned yourselves into angels of death in the name of Islam."
yeah ... like, besides Satan and his minions, what other kind of self-respecting angel would be associated with Islam, anyway?
DEFINITION OF NOTION
1 an individual's conception or impression of something known, experienced, or imagined
(2 : an inclusive general concept
(3) : a theory or belief held by a person or group b : a personal inclination
(4):A whim,
Apparently the judge was clueless about the 164 jihad versus in the Qu'ran . Did these defendants operate on a whim?or something imagined,or a theory?
10 months in court should have produced a mound of empirical evidence that cannot be defined a Notion.
Sorry, this is a bit off topic ... just a bit. Excellent article by the way, this has become one of my favorite points to make to Islamic apologists. It isn't the responsibility of non-Muslims to define what is and what isn't "radical" Islam or what is and what isn't a misinterpretation. For us it is just Islam, it is up to Muslims to define it, when you act as a Muslim we have the right to assume it is because of your faith, we don't need labels like "radical", and you are responsible because you Muslims are not animals, you are human beings ... in spite of your faith.
Anyways I thought some of you might like to add your 2 cents here.

The politcal consequences should be obvious: the more people become aware of the nature of the ever-present deadly threat from Islamic jihadists, like the ones in Germany, the more people are turning (as in today's local Dutch election results) to anti-Islam politicians like Geert Wilders, in neighbouring Netherlands.
The German public is slowly waking up. The tide is slowly turning. The role of Islam as a motivation for these terrorists is openly being discussed in the mainstream media. At the moment, it is still being branded as "radical Islam". Nevertheless, the notion that this has to do with the Islamic religion is no longer contested as politically incorrect.
It is going to take a while until the major television channels and newspapers in Germany understand that this is a problem of "mainstream Islam". But, this is only a question of time. The overall sentiment is changing.
