Speaking of lies and smears, a story went out last week about a Virginia driver with an anti-jihad sign on the back of his truck, who was made to change his license plate number after CAIR complained that his existing plate number contained coded neo-Nazi slogans. The implication of the story, of course, was that anti-jihadists are neo-Nazis -- which, despite the febrile fantasies of libelblogger Charles Johnson and his cohort, CAIR's amiable stomach-stapled beekeeper Honest Ibe Hooper, flies in the face of the facts: Muslims generally allied with the Nazis during World War II (and Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, was a major player in the planning of the Holocaust), and actual neo-Nazi groups like the Aryan Nations are pro-Muslim.
And now it turns out that CAIR's whole story was false in the first place: the driver in question, Douglas Story, is not a neo-Nazi at all, but a racing fan. The alleged code numbers for neo-Nazi slogans were actually favorite race car drivers' numbers.
Will Honest Ibe Hooper apologize to Douglas Story? Come on, Ibe! It would be the decent thing to do!

Douglas Story, a Chantilly dump truck driver for the Virginia Department of Transportation, says he wanted to grab people's attention when he paid $224.90 to have a mural of the burning World Trade Center detailed onto the tailgate of his Ford F-150 along with a sticker that reads: "Everything I ever needed to know about Islam I learned on 9/11."But he got more than he bargained for when a photo of his pickup went viral on the Web last week. Motorists and Muslim groups complained that his Virginia vanity license plate -- 14CV88 -- was really code for neo-Nazi, white supremacist sentiments. The state Department of Motor Vehicles voted last week to recall Story's plates and force him to buy new ones.
"There is absolutely no way I'd have anything to do with Hitler or Nazis," Story said Wednesday. He contacted The Washington Post after an article about his plate appeared last week; the state, citing privacy rules, had declined to release the identity of the plate's owner. "My sister-in-law and my niece are Jewish. I went to my niece's bat mitzvah when she turned 13 three years ago. Does that sound like something an anti-Semite would do?"
Story says the numbers 14 and 88 on his plate were not references to a white power slogan or "Heil Hitler," as the Council on American-Islamic Relations theorized, but an homage to his favorite NASCAR drivers: Tony Stewart, who drives car No. 14, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who drives No. 88.
Story applied for the vanity plate in March 2009, shortly after Earnhardt changed his car number from 8 to 88 and Stewart changed his from 20 to 14.
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said his group looked into the meaning of the numbers 14 and 88 after receiving complaints about Story's license plates. He said the group found that among neo-Nazis, 88 refers to "Heil Hitler," because H is the eighth letter of the alphabet. White supremacists sometimes use the number 14, Hooper said, as shorthand for the 14-word motto, "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children."...
Hooper said he doesn't buy Story's version "given the overt anti-Muslim bigotry displayed on the truck and the Confederate flags and their historic connotation of racism. But it's his right to make that appeal to the Virginia DMV."
Story said he has no intention of appealing. "I don't want my truck firebombed," he said.
Story received a certified letter last week from the DMV ordering him to get new plates. And his boss told him that he could no longer park on VDOT property with the anti-Islam mural. So Story spent an afternoon getting new randomized plates and peeling the mural off by hand.
"I feel naked," he said.
UPDATE April 30: The Washington Post has uncovered evidence that Douglas Story is indeed a white supremacist racist. In that case, he deserves whatever he gets from the DMV.
This story illustrates how CAIR will make up any bizarre conspiracy story to justify shutting up someone it doesn't like. It's clear that they targeted Story specifically on account of his truck decal, and simply poked around until they came up with a story that the befuddled folks in the Virginia DMV would actually buy. What a bunch of idiots they are.
Maybe Tony Steward and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. should gather together a few of their friends, who will have certainly been insulted by seeing their heroes disrespected like this, and pay CAIR a little visit to engage them in some cultural sensitivity discussions.
So much for freedom of speech. This guy showed a little cowardice too. If I were him I would have simply not parked in the VDOT parking lot. But I suppose he really should not be taken to task for this since it is well known that the religions of peace member might damage his anti Islam truck.
Thinking about 9/11, where is Hollywood? There should be tons of movies and series plots dealing with Allah akbaring terrorists trying to destroy various land marks and building all over the world, but how many we have gotten so far? Practically zilch.
It seems Hollywood also doesn't want to chance their own run in with religion of peacers. It seems we still have movies dealing with fighting Nazis in World War 2. Perhaps the recent South Park censorship is a harbinger of things to come. no 9/11 type plot, no London and Russia tube bombing plots, no Spain train bombing plots, we are still fighting Nazi Germany.

I find it doubtful that Mr. Story's boss can legally prevent him from parking his vehicle (with mural) in the employee parking lot. It seems that as long as the vehicle is not used for government business, displaying political stickers does not violate the Hatch Act. It then becomes a matter of freedom of speech.
I can't support Hooper in anything but I find it VERY hard to believe that a VIRGINIAN NASCAR FAN would be UNAWARE that 14 and 88 are POPULAR Neo Nazi codes. That would be about like a Bill Maher viewernot knowingwhat 420 meant.

In the wake of the South Park death threats and Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris' backing down over "Everybody Draw Muhammed Day", there has been a lot of discussion here about courage and cowardice and where to draw the line on personal safety—and there are no easy answers.
For my part, I consider Douglas Story a brave man for standing up against Jihad. I don't blame him for backing down in the face of these threats and slanders—but I am disgusted at the DMV and DOT for their complicity with CAIR in railroading this man.

I live considerably further south than Virginia. As a matter of fact, I'm so far south that I consider Virginia to be deep in Yankee territory. I used to live even further south, so I consider my present location to be Yankee territory, too. (Anything north of the Pea River is Yankee territory.) In spite of that, I had no idea of the sinister connotations of those numbers until I read Robert's posting.
Let me take this opportunity to send you to school right now. The Northern, Mid-West and Western states are the hotbeds of neo-Nazi activity, NOT the Southern states!

I don't know if I buy Story's version either. I don't know what the Confederate flag symbolizes to Story, but I have lived in both Southern and Northern states and to African-Americans the historic connotation of the Confederate flag is racism, hate, and white supremacy.
And that is all it stands for!
It does not stand for Southern Pride (at least not to blacks! And when I, a white person, lived in AL and LA I didn't accept it as such!).
And if the claim is made it is to memorialize the THOUSANDS of men who gave their lives (to defend and protect what they believed was their God-given right (Read the Bible folks) to own human beings)on the Confederate side of the Civil War I would think non-racist white Southerners would prefer to bury that flag beside those dead Confederate soldiers, especially the whites who had ancestors who fought and/or owned black people. Ok, I can somewhat understand the "88" because I have seen that used by neo-Nazis, but the "14" just sounds like complete bullcrap and one hell of a coincidence. Besides, if someone has "hidden" neo-Nazi lingo in their license plate, there is a very high chance of actual neo-Nazi symbols on the car, which this car was lacking.
Next, the photos of the burning Twin Towers with people jumping off will be deleted from everywhere as "Insulting to Muslims". It would probably not be wise to get a copy while you can, because the Muslim Police will raid your computer.

Hear Hear. I follow Jihad Watch also and I agree. I lived in Texas for 8 years and even I knew about the 14 and 88 association. However, I think he should be allowed to keep his license plate anyway. I thought freedom of expression is also covered under the 1st Amendment
OK AI so bobbie is an apologist - why? Because he thinks slavery was bad and that owning slaves was wrong? I also feel that the caste system in India is bad and I deplore my forefathers (even grandfather!) who followed this system. Nothing wrong with this attitude; it may help me proactively recognize human rights abuse.

People definitely have a right to fly this flag but non-white people like me also have every right to consider the flying of such a flag an intimidating gesture. Regardng this incident in Virginia, I think that the driver's license plate said it all. There is nothing really to see or "learn" but the most obvious. Regarding Hollywood's lack of attention to the truth, I notice how much energy is spent on labeling nazi's the bad guys, but somehow mozoids are different. I guess the movie-makers are trying to walk a thin line between the moral high ground and kissing its audiences asses. Aside from trying to avoid lawsuits, Hollywood is concerned with earning bucks, so it is catering to PC. As the majority of Americans are PC, I would imagine that the majority of movie-audiences are too. This is why movies are made about the World Trade Center tragedy without referring specifically to islam's universal ideological grounds for cold-blooded murder. This message would come into direct conflict with the on-going "truth is the new hate crime" atmosphere, which "oddly" began springing up post 9/11.

Vanity Car Plate Law all have than clause which give the BMVD the legal right to ban any vanity plates which doesnot meet any standard no plate will be allow that have " put to death all muslim" or "kill XXXX". You do have the right to appeal. This jewish men decide it isnot worthwhile to appeal
