This incident is what can be called village justice, which is pretty common here in Indonesia,in many cases village justice is more effective than the law courts.

Now please notice I wrote "in many cases village justice is more effective"

What is alarming is, as in this case, sharia is trying to overrule village and state law that has functioned pretty well

Unlike most here, I have lived in an indonesian village, with running water and electricty for nearly two years.

Also I would like to add, Java is more safe than many places in the USA or Britain.

The homicide rate in the USA remains over 15,000 people per year down from the 1991 peak of 24,700.

The USA, Australia and UK should issue travel warnings on themselves! They should also offer subsidized evacuation status to all citizens who would like to be somewhere relatively safe, like Indonesia.

Crime statistics per 100,000 capita in Indonesia according to Interpol:

Homicide: 4 x safer than Aus., 14 x safer than UK, 6 x safer than US

Rape: 18x safer 12x safer and 32x safer respectively

Assault: 170x safer 30x safer and 89x safer respectively

I think that, as a publicly practising Christian who wears a cross, and attends a church every Sunday, I will stay in Australia, warts and all, where I do not, at least at the moment, need to fear that a Muslim in a mosque down the road will decide that my church should not be permitted to exist and that as a result a howling mob of those justice-enforcing Muslim villagers will start smashing and burning.

I do not forget the thousands upon thousands of Moluccan Christians who were murdered by Lashkar Jihad fanatics - with the full connivance and indeed active assistance - of the Indonesian Army, not so very many years ago; and the thousands who were forcibly 'converted' (with those nice down-to-earth Muslim Indonesian village women 'circumcising' the women so converted, and the men doing the men), and the churches that were burned, and the Mohammedan mob that (egged on by mosque loudspeakers) destroyed a seminary *in Java*, wonderful Java, on the outskirts of Jarkarta.

I do not forget what happened when Muslim Indonesia ruled Catholic and animist East Timor, Timor Lorosae, and up to one third of the population was murdered; and when per miraculum the Indonesia occupiers were forced to disgorge, they destroyed, before they left, everything they possibly could, and looted and took with them everything they possibly could, in an act of appalling vindictiveness and spite.

I do not ignore what is happening to animist and Christian Melanesian Papuan indigenes, as they are subjected to classic Muslim hegira-jihad right now.

Nor do I forget Bali, and the bombs, and the fire; or the Hotel Marriott, and the bombs there.

I know exactly what is going on here, I have seen some of it first hand.

What you remind us of, the massacres, the destruction of churches, etc etc has nothing at all to do with "village justice" but every thing to do with islam.

"Village justice" is also another victim of islam, and Western greed

The violence you describe was nothing to do with village justice but committed by non-indigenous People(moslems)from Java and Bali, and the .

In Indonesia nowadays the Indonesian government controls Indonesian society within the smallest villages and the most distant islands, and replacing traditional local values and "village justice" with islam and sharia. Muc of the violence occurs when the indigenous people fight back.

I put a lot of blame on America for the present, because of their role in the 1965 massacre, where the CIA aided Suharto and the moslems.
