The Don Rickles of Tehran
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be incinerated in a nuclear holocaust. "Iran says new US policy a nuclear threat," by Ali Akbar Dareini for Associated Press, April 11 (thanks to Maxwell):
TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's supreme leader said Sunday that President Barack Obama has "implicitly threatened" his country with nuclear weapons in a newly outlined U.S. policy and Tehran said it intends to file a formal complaint with the U.N.Obama announced a new U.S. nuclear strategy last week, including a vow not to use nuclear weapons against countries that do not have them. Iran and North Korea were pointedly excepted from that pledge because Washington accuses them of not cooperating with the international community on nonproliferation standards.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the final say on all state matters in Iran, said Obama's language was "disgraceful" and proof the U.S. cannot be trusted.
"The U.S. president has implicitly threatened the Iranian nation with nuclear weapons. These remarks are very strange," Khamenei said on state television.
Even stranger is Khamenei's attempt to portray Obama's cringing dhimmitude as belligerence.
"The world should not ignore it because in the 21st century, ... the head of a state is threatening a nuclear attack. The U.S. president's remarks are disgraceful," he added. "These remarks mean the U.S. government is a villain government that can't be trusted."The U.S. and its allies suspect Iran's nuclear program is geared toward producing weapons, though Iran denies that.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast claimed Obama's stance on Iran was a "threat to global peace and security," the semiofficial Fars news agency reported.
"We will formally hand over our complaint to the United Nations in response to these threats," Mehmanparast said....
Oh, they will eat this stuff up there.
I, nabi ZK (pbum), thought the same. At fist the nuke posture seems to suggest that there would be no use of nukes against non-nuke states, even in the event of war. But wait. Rogue states, Iran and NK, are excluded from this assurance. Reading between the lines one does come off with the impression that a threat to nuke these countries remains explicitly on the table. Good!
nabi ZK (pbum)
Sooooo, Mr. President, how's that "Open Hand to the Muslim World" thingie workin' out for ya?
Guess Obama will have to work on being a better dhimmi than he has been.
"These remarks mean the U.S. government is a villain government that can't be trusted."
That's what I think too, but I will get over it later in 2010/2012, or sooner...
If the Ayatollah is worried, he should try and destabilize
the Rasool administration...He could start by demanding to see Rasool's eligibility papers, and start referring to him as 'The Kenyan in the White House'...The Ayatollah could declare himself a 'birther'...a first in Ayatollah land, but maybe not the last...
This is nothing but an Iranian publicity stunt. I do think that Iran is developing both a nuclear weapon and nuclear energy. I don't think they will use a nuclear weapon on Israel or anyone else for that matter. It would be counter productive for them. Over the last 20 years Iran has quietly been tightening their control over oil and natural gas coming from and traveling through the middle east. They have become the leaders of the Shia Muslims throughout the the entire middle east including the Arab Shia. Thanks to our invasion of Iraq they are pretty much in control of southern Iraq and its oil. At this point they are by far the strongest country in the middle east and due their control of oil one of the most powerful countries on the planet. It would make no sense for them to nuke anyone.
Obama announced a new U.S. nuclear strategy last week, including a vow not to use nuclear weapons against countries that do not have them. Iran and North Korea were pointedly excepted from that pledge because Washington accuses them of not cooperating with the international community on nonproliferation standards.

Obama's unilaterally rolling over on the threat from non-nuclear states was clearly insufficient...he should be rolling over to nuclear armed states as well!

Even stranger is Khamenei's attempt to portray Obama's cringing dhimmitude as belligerence.
.......................
Cringing dhimmitude indeed—but Obama is still an American (well, after a fashion, anyway) and as such can never be cringing and appeasing enough to suit the taste of the Mullahs.
The exceptions for Iran and North Korea in Obama's new defense policy show how useless it is.
The main purpose of having a credible policy is to establish principles that will be universal and firm, yet flexible enough to handle all conceivable threats to the country. From the Monroe Doctrine on we have made our red lines clear and bold so that any country, friend or enemy, knows exactly what to expect.
By making a policy that leaves out two rogue regimes, we are admitting that the rest of this doctrine is inadequate as a general principle of deterrence.
Two consequences will follow: First, regimes that are hostile but not so obviously crazy will be encouraged to test us, and second, the regimes that are singled out will notice the obvious weaknesses in the overall policy.
And in the mean time they threaten to wipe countries of the map (Iran-Israel) or wage jihad against them (Libya-Switzerland).
-Wants to file a formal complaint with the UN.- Time to move the UN to some other location. Perhaps one of the islands that is disappearing due to rising sea levels. Any avenue that gives these nuts an audience, and an appearance of legitimacy, should be eleminated. The thought process of these nut jobs is scary. That they actually believe their own nonsense is scary. Have never been one for isolationism, but the more one thinks about it, it does have advantages. Could it be that the attention factor partially drives these nuts to continue? Could it be that ignoring their dribble, might be the best possible action?
"The world should not ignore it because in the 21st century, ... the head of a state is threatening a nuclear attack. The U.S. president's remarks are disgraceful," he added. "These remarks mean the U.S. government is a villain government that can't be trusted."
Has he listened to what his own prime minister has been spewing for year now? Another Projection Alert.
"Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the final say on all state matters in Iran, said Obama's language was "disgraceful" and proof the U.S. cannot be trusted."
This is supremely funny coming from a country that has openly stated its desire to "wipe Israel off of the map".
Perhaps obama should curl up with a good book to comfort himself by reading Lewis Carroll's, Through The Looking-Glass, lol ....
Like the Iranians have ANY sense at all? Are you a dumbass?
Heaven help us.
They have enough sense to be on verge of controlling about 40% of the Middle East's oil and natural gas. Do some research on what the CIA thinks about Iran and its power in the Middle East. Use your brain for thinking instead of winging insults and thoughtless comments.
Clearly the Ayatollah has no respect whatsoever for Obama, sensing him to be nothing but a big talker who doesn't need to be taken seriously. The thing to watch for now is if, in response to this tongue lashing, Obama will start to back away from or abandon the already pathetically weak sanctions being pursued to try to persuade Iran to back down on their nuclear development program.
Meanwhile, the nuclear clock keeps ticking...

PM slams world silence on Iran, by ABE SELIG:
Netanyahu warns Iran’s genocidal intentions reminiscent of holocaust.
Marking the start of Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Day before a crowd of hundreds that gathered in the Warsaw Ghetto Square at Yad Vashem on Sunday night, Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu chided the international community for its relative silence in the face of Iranian threats to destroy the Jewish State and the Islamic regime's ongoing race towards nuclear weapons.
"We are witness today to the new, old fire of hatred," Netanyahu said from the podium. "Hatred of Jews inflamed by organizations and regimes of Islamic extremists – most of all Iran and its satellites."
"Iran's leaders are rushing to develop nuclear weapons as they freely announce their desire to destroy Israel," he continued. "But in the face of these calls to erase the Jewish State from the face of the earth time and time again, we see at best mild protests, and these too seem to be fading."
"We don't hear the forceful protests that are required, we don't hear strong denouncement, or the angry voice," he added. "But as usual, there are those who direct their criticisms against us, against Israel."
"The world accepts Iran's declarations of annihilation yet we still do not see the international determination required to prevent Iran from arming. I call on the enlightened nations to rise up and denounce this intention to destroy, and to act with real determination to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons."

Hello Gravenimage, I know that you and Bosch Fawstin are talented artists.
I just thought of something that might make a funny cartoon caricature. Feel free to take a run at it. >>>
A drawing of Muhammad standing over a toilet, face grimaced, trying to pinch a loaf. Instead of dropping a turd, he craps out the Islamic star and crescent symbol.
Cheers and Regards. lol

The caption could read:

Enslave women. Kill infidels.
All non-Muslims are lost low-lives and must be enslaved unless they covert to Islam or accept Dhimmitude and “feel themselves subdued.”

Will the UN bite the hand that feeds it and gives it sexual satisfaction?
I will pop some corn and wait to see how this plays out.
Hugh,
Something offtopic. I found this statement of yours in archives
"Let's see how the Muslims have suffered, or not suffered, from "Western colonialism." In India, the arrival of the British did indeed dislodge Muslim rule, and allowed Hindus, for the first time in many centuries, to be treated decently."
This is part of the whining of many subcontinent muslims "British snatched away the Indian empire from muslims". On closer examination, we find this to be a myth.
The Mughal empire in India entered it's period of demise in 1707 with the death of Aurangzeb. The british gained a foothold in India in 1757 with the battle of Plassey. At that time, and for the next several decades, it was Hindus and Sikhs who were dominant powers in the subcontinent. Sikhs even conquered areas upto Afghanistan. It was with the Hindus and Sikhs that british had their major power struggles. By this time, the writ of erstwhile mughal empire had ceased to exist beyond the city of Delhi, and hardly posed any challenge to british.
After several centuries of muslim rule, Hindus and Sikhs had gained back their rightful posessions. It looked like Islam would be kicked out off the subcontinent or atleast greatly diminished. At that crucial time, british came to the scene and effectively rescued muslims. So atleast they don't have much reason to complain about 'colonialism'.
No need to file any complaint with UN; where is his great Allah?. He can pray and end the prayer by calling "Allah Akbar, death to America".
Iran has said it will file a formal complaint with the UN against the US, citing what it calls President Barack Obama's threat to use "nuclear attack" against it.
It would be just like the U.N. to side with Iran and rebuke the U.S. for its remarks, while it continues to ignore the death threats that have been emanating from Iran for years.
Isn’t this akin to the pot calling the kettle black. Iran has on numerous occasions threatened to annihilate Israel.
Iran’s Ahmadinejad has even sponsored a conference titled, “The World without Zionism.” He is not talking about integration here - but annihilation. It has yet to be rebuked or reprimanded by the U.N. for this comment or the many other comments that point to Israel's demise.
I hope that Iran gets the same treatment from the U.N. when they file their complaint.
