It does not single out the Limeys, but its refusal to enforce foreign defamation judgments that are "repugnant to the public policy of this state" is clearly aimed at them. Other states have passed, or are considering, similar legislation in response to a libel award rendered in London against the American writer Rachel Ehrenfeld.
It must be embarrassing for the British when American legislators lump them together with the avatars of medieval repression, but plenty of them are evidently aware it is fair, at least in the context of libel law. As a general election approaches, all three major parties in the UK promise to reform laws that have created "libel tourism" on the very island where John Milton wrote the book on press freedom, "Areopagitica." That was in 1644, so it's about time the government got the hang of it....

There are aspects of American law that simply don't fit muslim custom.
For example American law simply takes too long for passing judgement and at other times judgements are not clear at all; just a fuddy duddy list of if's, buts, dos and don'ts on a piece of non enforcable paper.
At other times American law simply isn't fair to specific groups; I know (for example) that gays are trying to get aspects of your laws changed to suit them e.g. recognition of gay marriage (sic) and "rearing" children;
I think many muslims are simply stunned by it. "American law - what law?"
YOu need laws that people are comfortable with, laws that people can work with and laws that fulfill their objective - deterrence.
You have open prisions, walk in prisons, modern prisions that are more luxirious than home, - I mean people don't want to leave - yeah great deterrents those.
I am not saying that all sharia should be taken on board - but aspects of it into your lax, non-deterrent laws should definately be considered.

I am seeing a guy like Wenti on this website first time. We have many of them on other websites and in India. Here are the characteristics:
1. They will not get heated up easily, they will remain cool so long as we are showing anger.
2. They are educated (using "kuffar" invented and run institutions, of course)
3. They will calmly demand the right to live in "kuffar" lands citing modernity as the rationale. In equally calm tone, they will demand that all of us get used to them and adopt their laws and customs. In equally calm tone, they will insist that ours and their laws can be harmonized. In equally calm tone, they will deny that there is anything wrong with Islam or Islamic law.
4. When you point out the many features of Islam which are simply incompatible with modernity, they will tell you, in equally calm tone, that same features exist in all religions and systems, to the same degree, so there is nothing especially different or wrong with Islam.
5. When you point out the many brutalities that Islam has committed, they will remind you, in equally calm tone, about Drone attacks, Iraq's children, Abu Ghraib and suchlike. With us Indians, Gujarat especially comes to be mentioned.
The likes of, let us say, Fareed Zakaria are a highly sophisticated version of this kind.
If I may take the liberty to suggest, the best way to handle them is to remain calm and point out the aspects of Islam that are a. completely incompatible with modernity b. Integral part of Islam c. Can be abandoned only if Muslims agree that Mohammed could not have been a messenger of Allah d. Muslim world cannot progress unless those aspects of Islam are abandoned (in other words, you cannot remain a believing Muslim AND be a modern, rational, secular or even a humane person)
I have taken on many of them on altmuslim and they always ended up getting heated up and finally dropped their veneer of cool, rational thinking and started calling me names and telling lies about their religion. It was always fun to see the transition.

- You can't marry off your 9 year old daughter to your nephew, or indeed anyone else for that matter. If you dare, you belong in jail.

The English have never been very good at law. As a race they kinda peaked on the justice thing way back in 1215 AD with the Magna Carta, when they introduced the concept of the constitituational rule.
But, typically English, they excepted themselves from their own rules, and to this day have no consititution. Imperialism, like sex, has consequences. Thus England is filled with voids and lousy with Moslems.

Actually, these two issues are not unrelated, as I'm sure Wooton understands. Libel laws in Britain have been widely used by Muslims to shut down freedom of speech in the West, as well as claim large amounts of Jizya in the form of settlements.

5) No kidnapping. Moslem fathers often kidnap children following the dissolution of a marriage. This is bad for the children
6) No pedophilia. Child "marriages" are forbidden because it's bad for the children (Duh)
7) No honor killings. There's no "honor" in it. It's called "m-u-r-d-e-r"
8) No killings for apostasy. This is also called "m-u-r-d-e-r"
9) No killings for "blasphemy." This is also called "m-u-r-d-e-r." Besides, if we allow this for Moslems, then we'll have to allow it for everybody who thinks Moslem beliefs are blasphemous. And that, as a cop friend of mine says, is just way too much paper work

It's true that Americans are better at protecting their rights than the English. We did once have a bill of rights, though (in 1689), which guaranteed freedom of speech, the right to weapons for self defence, freedom of religion, democratic rights, and more. All adding greatly to the constitution started by Magna Carta.
It would be good for our country if we could scrap all the repressive recent legislation and re-uphold our bill of rights, which has never been repealed but sadly seems to be forgotten.

For instance when he said that the numbers of grand children of a 10 % minority could well approach the same numbers of grand children of the majority of a country, when the minority has 3,5 fertility rate and the majority 1,3 %.
But we are told again and again by PCMC's and no-worry-types that the Muslims in the West indeed are already transforming and that this will continue. But the difference between PCMC's and you and I is that the PCMC's envision that the Muslims will stay being Muslims in massive numbers, while we think reform of Islam is well-nigh impossible and think it is much better if Muslims eventually apostasize in big percentages.
And I like to add that Robert Wright in his book Non-zero-sum-games pointed out that outward dangers tend to unite people in a country, in reaction to a common threat. This too is my great hope; that there somehow is some "divine" reason why Islam is threathening the democratic system so much, having these demographic and oil-money advantages.
Could it be that it is this that makes free people, and especially free women, finally realise how important the democratic system, the Golden Rule and Human rights are? And that THIS threat is the only reason that is strong enough to unite them under good noble principles and groups who adhere to them?

Good for Louisiana! Looks like the southerners are less namby-pamby about what government takes precedent in the United States. Virginians seem to have their dukes up too. My prediction is that it will be the southern states and some of the midwestern states that will lead the fight against islma on state government levels. I think this is because the more "intellectual" and "progressive" a state seems to be, the more room for rationalizing and PC behavior. I sincerely hope that the idea of COMMON SENSE will take hold nationally; applying common sense to situations in which mozoid barbarians are looking to gain a strong hold will be the most efficacious means of fending them off. Sometimes thinking too much about a problem can cause people to miss the obvious. Of course, this is assuming that Americans WANT to solve the impending sharia problem. I believe there should be a steady grass roots drum beat in India and every other country that has been a victim of the current Islamic Jihad demanding reparations from Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan (at the point of a bayonet, of course). The most common mistake made by Western politicians or other individuals, is believing they can solve our differences with the Islam by dialog.

I have to say that desidude has created a probable scenario that is very credible and western governments should plan so as to prevent that.
In India, there are many such enclaves. Think parts of Kerala, think places like Azamgarh. Even small neighborhoods which have Muslim concentration begin to look like an alien place.
