Moderate Palestinian PM vows boycott of Israeli goods

But deep down, they really, really want peace!

Moderation = boycotting goods rather than suicide bombing. But at bottom this is just another play for victim status by what is in reality a relentless and intransigent jihad group. "Palestinian PM vows to step up 'peaceful resistance,'" from AFP, April 21 (thanks to Maxwell):

BILIN, West Bank (AFP) - Palestinian premier Salam Fayyad vowed on Wednesday to step up "peaceful resistance" against Israeli occupation by boycotting settlement goods throughout the West Bank.

"There has been progress in the boycott of settlement products, which comes from the idea of popular peaceful resistance, and I hope we will rid our markets of all settlement goods by the end of the year," he told an international conference in the West Bank village of Bilin.

The village has been the scene of weekly protests against Israel's controversial separation barrier, during which youths chant slogans and hurl stones at Israeli troops, who respond with tear gas and rubber bullets....

I actually disagree with Robert on this one. The Palestinians are ticked; the appropriate way for them to complain is through peaceful protests and consumer boycotts. That is much better than suicide bombers, don't you think?

Moreover, I'd like to see this protest generate some results. Much better that the Israelis respond to peaceful protests and boycotts, than to bombs and kidnappings, don't you think?

Robert (quite correctly) chides Muslims for their violent reaction to simple provocations. In this case, they are choosing non-violent protest over armed jihad. In so doing, they join civilized society.

I think this is progress.

If boycotts are acceptable governmental policies, maybe Israel should comply, totally, and stop selling any products to the palestinians. And, prohibit the sale of any palestinian products inside Israel.

What, not what they meant?

Fair's fair...

Israel needs to accept this gesture of reconciliation and respond in kind to show their sincerity and support for the concept of reciprocal policies.

I suppose that the boycott does not include the water, fuel, electricity, food that comes from Israel, the medical supplies and medical treatment of some “Palestinians” in Israeli hospitals?

No? I didn’t think so.

Let the palastinians boycott the Israeli goods. Let them purchase the technically superior products from countries such as Sudan, Indonesia, Yemen, Somalia and all the other up and coming superpowers.
I hardly doubt this boycott is much of a threat to the israeli economy.
And quit shooting the rock throwing little goons with rubber bullets, defend themselves with the real stuff.

The village has been the scene of weekly protests against Israel's controversial separation barrier...
...................

And what is that separation barrier and its checkpoints for? To stop suicide bombers from entering Israel itself. There have been suicide bombings at the checkpoints themselves, and some "sudden-Jihad syndrome" murders of Israeli Jews by Israeli Muslims hijacking construction equipment, and lots of rocket attacks from Gaza, but the barrier *has stopped cold* the bulk of suicide attacks in Israel.

So, of course the "Palestinians" are protesting the barrier. It has proven a great impediment to their killing Jews.

But, without the Jews to figure things out and get stuff done how will the "Palestinians" be able to feed and clothe themselves?

History of "Moderate Palestinians" long before Israel cam into existence:

"In the month of August, 1929, on a preconcerted signal given in the mosques, and the cry ed-dowle ma'ana, the government is with us, bands of Arab idlers and cofeehouse loafers, reinforced by the poorest of the peasant class and Bedouin, threw themselves on Jewish settlements, on Jewish property and Jewish individuals in various parts of the country. The outbreak was directed by the Mufti of Jerusalem who told me that ... Sir John Chancellor, the High Commissioner, was on leave of absence, and his place at the top was taken by Harry Luke, the Chief Secretary, as Acting High Commissioner. ... "Ah," he objected again, "but you must keep in mind that the government is neutral, must be impartial in this quarrel between Jews and Arabs". ...
"Neutral and impartial when it is a question of barbarism versus civilization, when it is a case of gangsters attacking peaceful, innocent citizens as those whose bodies I just saw piled up in a house in Hebron? ... You call that impartiality when a man like Captain Caffaretta of Hebron comes in and clamly relates how he watched the move invade a rabbi's house and slaughter twenty-seven persons there". "There were only twenty-six killed," interrupted Mr. Luke. "Yes, twenty-six adults and one baby of three months, that makes twenty-seven by my count. ... "We arreested some of the attackers said Mr. Luke. "You arrested first and foremost in every case that I investigared," I said, "the Jews who successfully defended themselves. You arrested fify Jews in Haifa the moment they defended themselves heroically agains the attack of a mob of some two thousand " (Pierre van Passen, The Forgotten Ally, Dial Press, New York, 1943 pp. 162-164 - "Britain's Role in Palestine".

A familiar story: The "Palestinians" attack Jewish innocent civilians, then armed by the British, the few remaining Jews are forced to evacuate Hebron and their land and homes are "legally"? occupied by the "Palestinians". It is only when the Jews liberate occupied territories that the occupation becomes "illegal". As before, British and European sense of justice only wakes up when the Jews successfully defend themselves. Only then we have our "Goldstone Reports" etc.

What has not changed is the part that is seldom reported. As more recently in Chabad House in Mumbai, the Jewish rabbi and his wife were first tortured, then had their genitals mutilated while still alive, and only then murdered, just like Hebron in 1929!

Were there any "occupied territories" in Mumbai? Of course not, but the modus operandi is traditional: Invented 1400 years ago by a plundering warlord and paedophile who wa also a self proclaimed prophet.

The agenda is still the same today, as clearly stated in Article Seven of the "Hamas Charter", and the unholy alliance of the self proclaimed left wing "liberals" and the Jihadists label with the modern Iscariots, Quislings and Goldstones label the Jews as "War Criminals" and "Human Rights Violators".

I suppose that the boycott does not include the water, fuel, electricity, food that comes from Israel, the medical supplies and medical treatment of some “Palestinians” in Israeli hospitals?

No, it doesn't. You will note that the article says that the boycott is only of "settlement products," not to goods and services produced in Israel itself.

Why is there no initiative to boycott the Pali-Arabs for once?

I know Robert can do better than this post. Did he forget his vitamins this morning?

On this site, there are so many cases where Robert clearly presents mounds of evidence of serious affronts to humanity. Why water down these accomplishments with insinuations of a questionable affront without proposing any evidence of bad motivation (that's the only thing I can detect as being the target of this post). I don't doubt that there is bad motivation involved, but here there is no proof or even insight into how or why that may be the case in the reported situation.

My skin is tough enough to withstand the flames which I'm sure to receive now from chauvinists who become indignant at any criticism of their side. To Robert specifically: I think you'll recognize that even if I am wrong, I'm attempting be constructive and I remain a student of your work regardless.

Enjoy!

Except that the belief that all of Israel is an illegal Jewish "settlement" is widespread and mainstream among Muslims. I am sure that Salam Fayyad holds this belief as well. Recall the assertion, made by so many members of the ulema, that Islam condemns the killing of "innocents." Courtesy of this website, we know full well that most of those Muslims who have asserted this do not for a moment consider the infidel victims of jihad terror to be innocent. Similarly, we must press those in the Palestinian Authority to define "settlements." Is not, as Hamas asserts in its charter, all of Palestine/Israel a waqf (religious land grant) in perpetuity, over which Jews can never, Allah forbid, have sovereignty? We should demand that Salam Fayyad tell us just what parts of Israel are "settlements," and, even more pointedly, which parts are not, where Jewish sovereignty is permanent, and undisputed.
