Report: Obama intends to impose new peace plan:

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that US President Barack Obama is seriously considering imposing a new comprehensive peace plan on Israel and the Palestinians in six months.

According to the report, Obama asked a room full of his own and past presidential advisors last month what they thought about introducing a new peace proposal. They all are said to have backed the idea, so long as the plan is based on previous US-authored peace plans, such as the Wye River Accords, the "Road Map" and the Annapolis understandings.

Israeli media noted that this approach would be a reversal of how Obama has gone about overseeing Middle East peace so far. Up until now, the Obama Administration has tried to squeeze concessions from Israel and, to a lesser degree, the Palestinians in an effort to get both sides to sit down and hammer out a deal between themselves.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains strongly opposed to an imposed peace plan, and is not likely to be very welcoming of Obama's efforts. But the thinking is that Obama may tie Israel's acceptance of the new plan to stronger action against Iran's nuclear program.

Even were Netanyahu's first name Daniel, he'd be a fool to walk into this lions' den.

And the latest? Israel's Maariv is reporting that technicians and scientists from Israel's Nuclear Research Center are having increasing difficulty getting student visas to study in the US.

Israel Withdraws – From Obama Conference

Obama is hosting a big D.C. conference of 47 countries next week on securing nuclear materials and how to keep them out of the hands of terrorists. Meanwhile, of course, his marshmallow soft policies are hastening the day when the terrorist sponsoring regime in Iran will have nuclear weapons!

As the D.C. meeting nears, rumors have started circulating that Muslim nations attending will use the gathering to go on the verbal attack – not against Hamas, Hezbollah or Al Qaeda – but against Israel. And given the hostility oozing out of Obama’s White House every day towards our Israeli ally, who knows whether the president would have defended Israel or piled on the anti-Israel attack. In addition, White House officials had made it clear that Obama would not meet privately with the Israeli prime minister.

Late yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, perhaps sensing a trap, announced that he wasn’t going to attend the Obama conference and would send the deputy prime minister instead. I think he made the right decision, and Israel’s strongest friends in Congress agree.

When Netanyahu does come back to Washington for another meeting with Obama, I hope he will put time in his schedule to go on the U.S. talk show circuit and speak directly to the American people, whose affection for Israel surpasses Obama’s disdain.

US Refuses Visas to all Israeli Nuclear Scientists

In a new and ridiculous policy, the US is denying Israeli scientists who work at the Dimona reactor site an opportunity to refresh their knowedge, Joshua Pundit reports:

Ma'ariv reported today that the Israeli government was stunned when every nuclear technician at Israel's Dimona reactor who had submitted visa requests to visit the United States for ongoing university education in Physics, Chemistry and Nuclear Engineering had their visa applications summarily rejected, specifically because of their association with the Dimona reactor.

This is a new policy decision of the Obama administration. Up until now, it was routine for Israeli nuclear scientists and technicians to receive such visas and to study at US universities.[snip]eportedly the US has an unofficial embargo on selling anything to be used at the site.

Professor Zeev Alfasi, the head of Nuclear Engineering at Ben-Gurion University in the Negev stated that "the United States doesn't sell anything nuclear-related to the Dimona reactor, and that means absolutely nothing. Radiation detectors, for example have to be purchased now in France because the USA refuses to sell these to Israel."
