Perhaps unwittingly, the Kuwaiti Students Union is stating the bold truth: This is a war of religion (in the singular). It's not a war BETWEEN religions (as in the over-used and false expression "sectarian strife"), but a war of ONE religion, specifically Islam. It's a war that Islam started, and that Islam has continued.

He's not a very good poet, none of his verses rhyme...I would guess that he is a poet because there are no jobs available for shoe repair boys, and the janitorial positions, both of them, are already filled...I can tell by the way he is dressed that any actual work is out of the question, no one who intends to work dresses like that...I wonder how much 'poet' pays in Kuwait?
He's right that this is a religious war...on the Mahoundians part...Allah and Mahound told them to fight this religious war a long time ago, and so far has not canceled those orders.

The call to war and bloodshed couldn't be clearer. As taanstafl said, there's a chilling similarity in these rants to those of Hitler. Some then thought he was a madman who could be temporarily appeased and then the world would right itself again. But they were wrong, of course.

Many appeasers in the West would have us repeat the same mistake again, this time with Islam and its push for world domination.

I've read the Sirat Rasul many times before, but I always relish it when Robert gives us a history lesson from Islam's own sources...to showcase the contemptible and violent nature of Muhammad. Your question was obviously rhetorical, for we all know this Administration certainly has no answers. I guess we're left biding our time until that great epiphany-in-waiting so many of us are naively counting on, when it will suddenly dawn on the broader society what had dawned on us here long ago.

Some suggest that an atrocity of calamitous degree will be the catalyst. I answer, "what the fuck was 9-11?"

Others are hoping for the steady drip of blood-stained reality that will eventually result in a tipping point when the majority finally "get it". But even then, even in a Democracy, popular wisdom is not necessarily the panacea for the determined policies of a self-deluded elite (as Europe is becoming increasingly aware).

The prognosis is not good, folks.

Still, one wonders if the eccentricities and vagaries of human nature might eventually conspire against the RoP, succeeding where all our official efforts failed, exposing Islam for the intellectual/spiritual straight-jacket it is, and someday rendering it obsolete.

Can you imagine the outrage from the Left-wing had a similar document detailing a visit on how to occupy a Muslim Cleric's time if it included :

Front seat at an honour killing.
Opening a Hospital Ward for 10 - 12 year old female genital castration.
Guest of honour at a bomb assembly plant.

So what happened to the genius with his great plans for occupying the Pope ?

When Westerners hear about Muslims criticizing rulers in the Muslim world, they almost always assume that those Muslims are calling for more freedom and democracy.

Often, what they are really calling for—as we see here—is more and more Islam. For Muslim rulers to throw themselves and their nations into full Jihad, and not even pretend to deal in a reasonable, diplomatic manner with Infidels—whether minority populations in the their own countries, or foreign Infidel nations.

Notice "poet" Ahmad Al-Kandari' call against "heresy"—anything that might temper the full violent impulse of Islam.

Despite muslim rantings, Israel lives forever! True Hindus strongly support Israel and our Jewish brothers/sisters. Long live Israel!! I firmly believe that only a US/India/Israel alliance can defeat islamists resoundingly, although under the present US administration such an alliance is unlikely.

People need to know the truth about what Islam says about Jews,Gays,Woman's rights and people who leave Islam to join another faith.

Some further thoughts on the population problem, in particular what concrete measures could be taken to reverse the imbalance between Muslim birthrates and those of the rest of the world (Latin America excepted).

There are several competing factors involved. First, simply ramping up the birthrates in the West might work in the short run (short run meaning 50 years, or about two generations), and it could perhaps be done by something as simple as giving tax credits for children, or even paying parents to have children. The problem with this is that it adds to the already dangerously overpopulated planet as a whole, and hastens the day of reckoning when we are unable to cope with minor glitches in the economic system or large scale natural disasters that lead to wide spread "involuntary" reduction in populations.

A better solution would be to find a way to reduce the population growth of every country with a high growth rate, with the goal of stabilizing at some level that is demonstrably sustainable indefinitely. I know this is flirting with some of the ideas that the Green folks have, but in this they happen to be right - you can't go on increasing the population of the world indefinitely without the Four Horsemen being unleashed at some point. But I am at a loss about what concrete measures could realistically be taken to limit the population growth in the high growth countries. The Left thinks it can be done solely by economic means, and this is what they have put their hopes on. On some days I tend to agree with the view of the Left on this, but only because of the lack of alternatives.

But as readers here know, this doesn't take into account the pernicious social forces inside Islam that resist limiting population growth. Muslims even crow about swamping the West demographically. On most days a cynical view dominates, where the Islam vs the Rest of the World problem will be solved in the time-honored fashion of an outright clash. This might alleviate the problem, but it would probably only be temporary and would not be a pretty thing to see (or live through).

Allowing Saddam to keep Kuwait would have made him a regional super-power with a fantastically wealthy financial portfolio to go along with his then-formidable military...and would also have set a dangerous precedent for border revisionism in the region. As you suggest, there is every possibility that after consolidating his control of Kuwait, he would have moved on his other neighbors. Where was it to have stopped?

I don't happen to desire the emergence of an Arab strongman...or Arab unity of any type. It would only enhance their capacity for concerted action and an effective marshaling of resources. I prefer the Arab world weak and divided.
