mayor, we pray and hope that they (our representatives in government) do not pick a supremecist religion which does not practice toleration of others, but instead intimidates, emasculates, subjugates and kills, in order to ascend to the highest position, such as those people who think that SHARIA law is "better" and more beneficial for the populace than that which people vote upon and agree to modify.

The Mayor is correct and right. The Mosque will be built near ground zero, no federal or state judge will stop it.

The government will not forbid the building of a mosque there. The First Amendment means it cannot be stopped, unless the builders choose on their own to withdraw. If there were overwhelming public sentiment against it, voluntary withdrawal is conceivable, if very unlikely. But unfortunately the public is somewhat split on the issue. If anything, people in Manhattan might be more in favor of allowing the mosque than of forbidding it.

I don't think someone like Bloomberg is "clueless," and neither do you. The reality is that a lot of money is coming into the coffers -- and in the minds of politicians, that is the only thing that matters.

To be honest, people like Bloomberg are merely selling out and attaining what they want -- power for the moment no matter the cost.

The mosque will be built. There will be protests for about six months -- if that long; and two years from now, maybe even five -- everyone will believe that the mosque was always there in the first place.

Ask a new generation of American kids a few years from today about 9/11, and they probably will have it confused with the American Revolution, which they will assume started when Perl Harbor was bombed starting the First World War, and ended at the Alamo, as North Vietnam invaded Texas from the South during the Civil War, killing Davey Crockett as he wait for George Washington to cross the Deleware and send reinforcements to South Korea.

Without clear LEGAL grounds a mob, no matter HOW JUSTIFIED, cannot simply declare a fundamental right void for one group... Use their ACTIONS to pursue LEGAL claims that pass muster with the Constitution. To the American Citizens,

We have let our guard down, not only to enemies outside of our country but also to enemies within our own country. The elected officials are not following the will of the people.

The biggest problems stem from our Commander in-Chief not being truthful with the American Citizens and not doing the will of the citizens. I believe President Obama makes a new problem each week to divide America and sap her resources dry. This is repeal “Don’t ask don’t tell” week. What a horrible idea.

The biggest lie of Obama to get elected was to say that he is a Christian. If pressed for clarification now, he would probably say that he was “only” a member of a Christian Church. He would not have been elected if he said he was a muslim. This isn't a politically correct statement,but, it is is a fact. Obama has a muslim idealism of what he wants America to be.

I wish no ill will to muslims. I wish that muslims would discover Jesus Christ and leave the cult of Islam. Islam is an evil and hateful religion that has muslims working to have the entire world in submission to Islam. The truth trumps being politically correct. Some people say that only radical muslims want to have the world submit to Islam and the moderate muslims just want to live in peace with all other faiths. I say there is no radical Islam or moderate Islam. There is only Islam. There are many muslims around the world making this same statement. The muslims even want to build a huge Mosque beside the 9/11 site. Not very tolerant and peaceful towards the feelings of family members of Americans murdered at the World Trade Center by radical muslims.

All Americans but especially Christians need to stand up together and challenge President Obama to his pre-election claim of being Christian. CHRISTIAN AND JEWISH LEADERS MUST GET INVOLVED AND LEAD. Encourage your Pastors, Priests, and Rabbis to get involved. If this effects a Churches "tax status" so be it. Obama will try to change the tax status of Churches soon enough. If Obama was willing to claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ to the American people when his actions clearly prove otherwise, then Obama is willing to say anything or do any evil to further his hidden agendas. God only knows all the evil plans of this man.

I pray that all Americans will wake up and demand answers and action from our government to the wicked path our country is on. Our country is spiraling out of control in so many areas that Americans can't keep up with what this President is doing. 1. Publicly professing that one’s religion is a private matter, as if to speak of his faith would be offensive to believers of other faiths. It is offensive not to know what a powerful government official believes .He is dividing the country by this stance. My worry is that Obama's next step would be to make it illegal to speak of one’s faith in public.

2. Supporting Islam over other religions. It is unconstitutional. Examples- Working to destroy Israel under the pretext of making peace in the Middle East. Obama’s bowing to Saudis literally, politically, and financially. Obama’s administration placed an “Ambassador to Islam” in the State Department with direct contact to the Secretary of State. There is no such ambassador to Christianity or Judaism. Obama is sending increased aid and support to muslim countries and organizations. Obama supports the Organization of Islamic Conference(OIC) which represents 1.5 billion muslims around the world. Obama has decreased support and aid to our historic allies.

3. Trying to make Americans totally dependent on the government and destroy our economy. Health care bill. Obama is raising national debt to record highs. Obama inaction in response to the “Gulf” oil spill.

4. Trying to take rights and freedoms from Americans. Healthcare bill. Wanting to regulate free speech on Internet. Nominating candidates for the Supreme Court that will clearly work to take away people's rights.

5. Failure to secure our borders and the saboteur of American efforts to secure borders. He would rather focus on the safety, rights, and dignity of those who illegally enter America with no thought of American safety, rights or dignity. Obama would rather give a voice to the illegal immigrants than U.S. citizens. He gave a world stage to the Mexican president. How does the Mexican president deal with illegal immigrants in Mexico? Do visitors have to have paperwork?

6. Trying to destroy the Christian values America was founded on at home and around the world. He is the biggest supporter of abortion by an America President in history. He has a record of apologizing to Europe and the Middle East for the U.S. supporting freedom around the world and our free way of life. Do not forget the blood that Americans have shed all over the world in the name of freedom. I would like to see a list of all the places Americans have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending other countries. What foreigners have paid that price defending American soil? He has told the world that America is not a Christian Nation. Why would a person elected to office as a “Christian” say that?

7. Trying to demoralize and destroy U.S. Military. Obama is trying to shape a military force that will be loyal to him and not the American people. Since Obama's taking office, a plethora of changes has happened in the Armed Forces to weaken and confuse the military. He has made it hard to be a Christian in the military. I'm sure he would like to enact a "Don't ask-Don't tell" clause for religion in the military. Paganism now an acknowledged faith at a U.S. Military Academy(Air Force Academy). American soldiers have now been sent in harm’s way without bullets in their guns(Barney Fife brigade). There are American soldiers training Palestinian soldiers (terrorists) for war. Obama refuses to properly name the enemy in this war we are fighting. He refuses to acknowledge Radical Islam or Jihad Terrorism happening in America or abroad. He is pushing for homosexual rights in the military. I can't wait for the Army Gay Pride Parade. Obama is trying to strip the military of men and women that have a character of honor and integrity. Who, in their right mind, would now want their child to serve in the American military? It hurts me to have to say that. Think about the vacuum left by good American people leaving and avoiding the military. What do you think that vacuum will be filled with?

In drafting the First Amendment, the founding fathers did not have in mind the protection of a religion which mandates killing people of other religions. That would be paradoxical.

I love the "day they don't pick yours" line...as if that is a legitimate concern. Frankly, if most Americans TRULY understood the threat that Islam poses to the civilized world, I am convinced they WOULD be willing to make an exception to the First Amendment.

The issue here is one of education and awareness. Most people in America mean well, but they aren't familiar with Islam and assume it must be somewhat similar to their own religion.

I think there is wishful thinking on the part of Mayor Bloomberg and other Americans who halfheartedly support this misplace 911 Mosque. They think in pluralistic terms that our democracy is strong enough to absorb this 'immigrant' group as it has others in our nation's history without damaging us in the long run. Naively, they compare Islam to other world religions. So how bad can it be to absorb one more cultural group into our American experience, adding to the cultural diversity already here? After, we are all immigrants, even the Native Americans migrated across the Bering Straits thousands of years ago. So what's the big deal?

The problem with this is that the Islamic center is not a small canary in the coal mine, but a large gorilla. Islam has proven itself unable to adapt to other cultures, to fit and integrate into them, but looks down upon such cultures with disdain. This is not a religious observation, but a political one. Islam fails as a religion, but succeeds terribly well as a political control ideology. And that is why it is a gorilla, because it will do whatever it can devise to destabilize our society, especially our constitutionally protected freedoms, to install its own version of political justice, Sharia.

Bloomberg and Stringer, and all who are behind the Board's approval of this mega-mosque project at Ground Zero are either happily oblivious or complicitly guilty, so they can't hear the alarm bells going off, voiced by so many who are not Islam-ignorant. This thirteen storied mega-mosque does not belong downtown Manhattan, anymore than it belongs in Madrid, or Paris, or London, or Jerusalem, or Beslan. Maybe in Tehran, but not on our soil, which once given up to Islam is theirs. What will happen, instead of a peaceful coexistence between the mosque's culture and the surrounding American culture, will be a gradually increase rate of friction, until it heats up into a full fledged battle. There is no peace with Islam, and giving them such a large piece of real estate in one of the most expensive cities in the world will not appease them. Nor will it ameliorate them towards the American Constitution and Bill of Rights, which they consider subordinate to 'Allah's laws' and its extended Sharia. They will never accept our freedoms and way of life, because they are programmed by their religio-politcial ideology to reject them. And giving them land in this prime real estate for their mosque will not change that. This gorilla will demand it be fed, by consuming our freedoms, and will not feel satiated until such time all those freedoms are gone. And that will be a very long war. Bloomberg et al are clueless on any of this.

So it is wishful thinking on the part of Bloomberg et al that somehow this time it will be different, that the 911 Mosque is not a symbol of Islamic supremacy, nay even victory, over our free society, and they will do what it takes to make it so. In time, this will become amply evident, and pray that by then it is not too late. Bloomberg et al will go down in history for their foolish infamy. Even if not on the take for Saudi 'generosity', they are clueless at best. Too bad, New York.

Under U.S. law, the government can't give religious reasons (for example, arguing that Islam is a cult) for stopping the building of the mosque.

Some day, when people are more aware of the totalitarian drive of Islam, the building of mosques that promote an Islamic state might be stopped under U.S. law.

At the rally, I hope Robert Spencer will use the venue to speak on a broader topic than just this one mosque: the ways in which many mosques in the U.S. violate U.S. law, since those mosques, which like other religious organizations are tax-exempt, promote an Islamic state and are thus political organizations, and are therefore not entitled to tax exempt status. It would be great if Robert could consult with his current lawyers about any possible kinds of legal challenges to mosques or to certain typical mosque activities, such as the promotion of jihad and sharia. Then Robert could tell the crowd at the rally about those legal possibilities, and ask Americans to demand legal action against any Islamic-law mongering mosque from California to New York, from Texas to Minnesota. That might naturally segue into some words from Robert about the Ground Zero imam's statements about Islamic law. Then it might be good to hear Robert say something like, "This mosque should not be built, but if it is, against the wishes of many of the families of 9/11 victims, what guarantees will the imam give to New Yorkers and Americans that Islamic law will not be promoted by the literature and imams of the mosque?"

Opposition to this mosque breaks the First Three Commandments of PC MC:

1) Thou Shalt Never Criticize Islam Itself.

2) Thou Shalt Only Criticize a Small Minority of Extremists Who Are Trying to Hijack Islam.

3) Thou Shalt Never Use Islam or anything centrally Islamic to Explain the Motivations of that Small Minority of Extremists.

Unless it is proved that this mosque and the Muslims behind it (Imam Rauf, etc.) fit the PC MC definition of "extremist" -- which is unlikely -- there is no reason in the PC MC view to oppose it, and every reason to vilify the opposition as "bigoted".

Whenever there are attempts to make an end run around these Commandments -- such as, for example, claims made that mainstream Islamic law in fact mandates indefinite war against non-Muslims; or that mainstream Islamic law is extremist and anti-liberal -- the PC MCs have a complex arsenal of pseudo-arguments and evasions to obfuscate the implication of those claims, for that implication is too horrible for the PC MC mind to face: the implication, namely, that the central mainstream culture of an entire People who are perceived to be an Ethnic People (or a wonderfully diverse Rainbow of Ethnic Peoples) is unjust and inimical to our laws and to our most cherished values -- including most of the very liberal values dear to the PC MCs themselves.

The Opposition to the Ground Zero Mosque thus seems to be pursuing a somewhat incoherent double track:

a) implying a direct and massive link between Islam and the Tiny Minority of Extremists who perpetrated 911

b) using the mosque issue in order to oppose certain Muslims (e.g., Imam Rauf) who are not, obviously, being directly branded as in cahoots with the 911 terrorists, but only as purveyors of some amorphous set of ideas inimical to Western laws and values (e.g., Sharia law).

Since PC MC remains dominant and mainstream throughout the West, anything that smells like (a) will not only be vehemently opposed and its proponents vilified, it will remain incomprehensible to the PC MCs, and in order to grasp why people are proposing (a), recourse will be had to labels such as "far right" and, of course, "bigots". Needless to say, the hypersensitivity of PC MCs to (a) is set so high, they will tend to brand even the milder (b) as consanguineous with (a).
