No apology forthcoming here
Facebook kowtows to violent intimidation and threats, and accepts Islamic restrictions on free speech. And Iran's Press TV is dead chuffed. Free Speech Death Watch Update: "Facebook apologizes over blasphemy," from PressTV, May 31:
Pakistan says Facebook has apologized to the country and has removed the blasphemous content that had prompted Islamabad to ban the social networking website."In response to our protest, Facebook has tendered their apology and informed us that all the sacrilegious material has been removed from the URL," Najibullah Malik, secretary of Pakistan's information technology ministry, was quoted by AP as saying on Monday.
Islamabad, in turn, lifted a ban it had imposed on the social networking website, after Facebook assured the Pakistani government that "nothing of this sort will happen in the future," Malik said....
Sheesh. And they left up the 3 pages of "Everybody Draw Jesus."
Guess they're not worried about the Jesus-terrorists... /sarc off
I have been a daily user of facebook but not anymore... I will boycot this webside...
Already had it boycotted myself.
Having only recently been dragged onto Facebook because suddenly every time you turn around it seems like that's what you have to be on to post anything, I can't say I'd miss the silly buggers if they drop off the face of the earth. Did anyone really expect them to show enough backbone to threaten their growth for a little thing like free speech?
Any place that can give you 500 instant "friends" is not to be trusted.
WTH??
When will people realize that appeasement will mean nothing?
This is insanity "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!"-group has been removed from facebook but "AGAINST Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!"-group can stay. I know it's a bit early but can I nominate facebook for the Dhimmi Internationale-award 2010?
I've never signed up for Facebook despite repeated urgings from friends/family, and the temptation of the SIOA campaign. I do not FB and I see I'm probably right. Zuckerburg or whatever his name is gives me the creeps.
Having said that, I think another campaign of "Draw Muhammad" has to happen soon, and then soon again after that.
The wrong message is being transmitted. What's the wrong message?
"WE ARE SO SORRY WE WILL NOT DO IT AGAIN NOR WE ALLOW ANYONE TO OFFEND YOU SO PAINFULLY IN THE FUTURE"
(And mohammedans are smiling everywhere)
We need to make them cry.
Eratta sheet:
should be "I do like not FB..."
Errata sheet:
Should be "Errata" not "Eratta."
Jeesh.
"I've never signed up for Facebook despite repeated urgings from friends/family, and the temptation of the SIOA campaign. I do not FB and I see I'm probably right."
Ditto. I think it's stupid, not to mention privacy concerns.
Now I know for sure I'll never sign up for Dhimmibook. You apologize to Mohammedans you can count me out.
Hmmm...
Boycott Facebook for traitorous ass kissing?
I guess so. I think I'll wait to see what SIOA decides and simply follow suit.
What is it with these tech heads? Why do so many turn out to be two-faced traitorous wieners?
Maybe it's just like any other cross section of the corporate world. Maybe my expectations of techies are unrealistically high. Dealing as they do in questions of logic so much of the time.
I suppose I leave the human capacity for compartmentalization out of account. About subjects A, B and C I'm going to be completely logical and honest, and outside of that, anything goes!
But really ... talk about selling your soul!
Beneath contempt.
"What is it with these tech heads? Why do so many turn out to be two-faced traitorous wieners?"
They were dorks and nerds to begin with, and they're still dorks and nerds.
Maybe I'm being too old fashioned about this, maybe the appropriate response is to set up a Facebook connected network dedicated to the subject of how the Facebook staff are traitorous, two-faced wieners.
It would get banned on Facebook to be sure, but one can use net technology and other social networking facilities to make a political theater event out of it.
Any young net-heads out there up for helping out with this?
Pakistan says Facebook has apologized to the country and has removed the blasphemous content that had prompted Islamabad to ban the social networking website.
...............
Who says the content was "blasphemous"? Not those who stand up for freedom of speech.
I joined FaceBook *only* so I could post an entry on "Everybody Draw Muhammed Day". I don't know who set up the EDMD site, but I hope they can find a new venue for EDMD 2011.
Long live freedom of speech! No apologies from me, either!
Why not invite Muslims for a pork bbq and a beer on July 4th? How could anyone be upset by that? We're just being neighborly!
Dorks and nerds perhaps ... but does dorkdom and nerdhood lead naturally to craven treason? Especially of such a gratuitous and disgusting sort?
Hard to imagine that there are no dorks and nerds on the side of the angels.
The backup "EDBD" Facebook page is still up and full of photos.

I came across this Noam Chomsky quote a few minutes ago and I thought, how appropriate a description of Facebook. And of Islam.
"The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.
the death threat for "all those who insult the 'prophet' (lol)" is alive and well. haha
Did it ever occur to anyone that Pakistan just might be lying? That the page might have been taken down after it's owner received death threats? The article noted that Facebook could not be reached for comment.
I've been to two "Everybody Draw Mohammed" pages that have been up and running all day. Here's one of pages
http://www.facebook.com/DrawMohammed?ref=search&sid=Tr6Szi4X534668Gc_579tA.4127551576..1
How 'bout if facebook relocates headquarters to Tehran.
All is not lost,
Use one of the lesser known disposable email site addys to create a dud facebook page with a muz name and hammer their holocaust page.
Just post up a Mo pix there when you get the urge. Pix of the mufti and Hitler might good also.
I doubt the Pakis will be too keen to block the holocaust page.

Noam Chomsky is one SCARY supremacist "philosopher." His ideas sort of remind me of the writings of Josef Goebbels, actually.

28 pics of the pedophile mass murderer Muhammad
I agree w/ Eleanor. Somehow, I was never into Facebook - the very idea of having a site like an on-line diary chronicling everything going on in my life, not to mention the ability to 'befriend' celebrities that I know ain't remotely interested in me - just strikes me a tad narcissist.
So what if these have been taken down from Facebook? Flood other portals - both dhimmi and others - w/ more of these - be it WordPress, Blogspot, Typepad, as well as Tinypic, Photobucket and so on. Have these spread like viruses. Once they're everywhere, it'll not only be harder to remove, but even Mohammedans will be forced to co-exist w/ them. They are on top now since these ain't that many, but once they are, they'll be at a loss.
I agree with Roxane. I'd like to see the evidence that Facebook has apologised. Pakistan has a history of claiming that apologies have been made when they have not.
The continued existence of at least one Draw Mohammed Day page on Facebook gives lie to Malik's claim.
The "Everybody Draw Holocaust Day" is up and running too. Though not very popular.
Wasn't there a call to boycott Google a while back? How did that one pan out? Then there was, for a brief moment Bing as well. Soon we'll boycott ourselves out of the internet, then the banking system, then schools, then what?
Ground Zero mosque, did any jihadi dish out death threats to Bloomberg? That's a no, I guess. Bloomberg just followed his instincts, his instincts to suck up to muslims.
What we are up against is our own demons, our own fears and our own insecurities. Indians, after centuries of suffering subjugation, forced conversions and enslavements, not to mention mass murder and religious cleansing by the muslim invaders, still do not get it. Vast majority of them still suck up to muslims like they're going out of fashion. What chance has the west that is still in deep slumber?
It is only when our religious leaders, our Popes, our Bishops, the Arch ones and the clergy wake up and smell the proverbial will things begin to change. You look at muslims, everyone to the last man (and woman) stands united despite their co-religionists' most heinous excesses like killing school kids in Russia (remember that?), despite evidence of barbaric butchery of innocent people, not one has apologised, not a single one.
And that is the difference between them and us. They see themselves as superior, like the Nazis, to the rest of us. They have a deep feeling that they will inherit the earth. Break that will, that belief and you'll begin a long march back to sanity.
I have not received the daily emails from Jihad Watch for a few days. Any one else experiened this?
The Everybody Draw Mohammad Day page is still up and running:

What's kinda of ironic for me is that I resisted joining facebook since it's inception. I've ignored family and friends requests to join, with them saying that it is easier to stay in touch on FB. Blah blah blah!! I tell them, just like before FB you can email me, you can write me, or you can call me (preferred actually!!)
About two months ago I broke down and joined. Why? Wait for it...........because that was the only way to join SIOA!!
Now, I'm not that computer savvy so I don't know if there is another way but it does not seem like a good place to promote by telling people to join FB so they can join SIOA. Once everybody joins to become part of SIOA FB edits or completely removes pages which constitute the reason for joining in the first place.
See what happens when you immitate, to the fierce amusement of the rest of us, Defender of Islam?
Instead of caving in to Muslims, the Western companies should leave the business in Islamic countries that choose to curtail freedom of expression. Just for a few bucks our companies sell their soul to these jihadis. Shocking but not surprising!!!
Are they going to cancel us all if we put our own drawings of Mohammad on every anti-jihadist member page on Facebook?
Let's all do it!
The Everybody Draw Mohammad Day - May 20th, 2010 page is still up.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Everybody-Draw-Mohammad-Day-May-20th-2010/120352401315688
It seems that Pakistan lied about the apology.
A correction or update of the title of this post might be in order.
Roxane, thanks for posting the EDMD page. The most recent posting is from a pious member of the "Religion of Peaceâ„¢":
FUCK YOU ALL
Insulting YOU MY RELIGION
Hopefully the punishment of GOD GIVES YOU ALL IN
................
Very edifying.
My absolute favorite entry (I won't call them "submissions") is a spoof on the old "Draw a pirate" 'art tests' you used to find in the back of comic books and pulp magazines, except that here it's "Draw Muhammed". Brilliant—I wish I'd thought of it!
Love that message from a member of the "religion of peace!"
Wake up West - the mass-murdering Mohammedans are out to kill us all.
I enjoy Facebook because it has allowed me to locate and make contact with people from whom I have been separated for a long time, including people I knew when in NYC, or Israel, or Germany, or from my high school or the military. It allows me to keep in touch with others as well as network with those with whom I share interests, or with current coworkers.
Since Facebook allows all manner of blasphemies directed against others than Muslims, including Holocaust denial, anti-Christian attacks, etc. I fail to understand why it takes such a pro-active role in acting against things that offend Muslims. That's hardly fair, is it?
Anyway, I am against censorship of any kind.
