Hamid Mir, "moderate" top Pakistani TV anchor, caught aiding Taliban jihadists

Many non-Muslims in Europe and America have been taken in by Hamid Mir, a self-professed "moderate." I was on to him years ago. So was Pamela Geller. We were both lectured self-righteously about how we had to support "moderates." And now here we are. I hate to say "I told you so," but I don't hate it all that much.

"Hamid Mir's terrifying indiscretions," from the Daily Times, May 16 (thanks to Kisan):

LAHORE: A shocking audiotape of a conversation between Hamid Mir - one of the country's top TV anchors - and a man purportedly linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, has revealed that negative information that Mir passed on to the Taliban could have led to the execution of Khalid Khawaja, the retired Air Force official allegedly killed by a group calling themselves the 'Asian Tigers'.

The tape - which has Mir divulging dirt on Khawaja, ostensibly to someone who is going to cross examine him - was first posted by the Let Us Build Pakistan blog, and picked up by other online publications, including Café Pyala. It is still unclear who made the tape, with online speculation suggesting that it could be the militants themselves, or even intelligence agencies who released the recording.

Whatever the source may be, it is clear that one of the voices on the tape is Mir's, a fact corroborated by his allusions to events such as his sacking from the daily Ausaf. In the tape, the person on the other end asks Mir for information on Khalid Khawaja. The content of the conversation suggests that this call was made before Khawaja's execution earlier this month. Mir goes on to detail what he knows about Khawaja's background, linking him to the CIA, an international network of Qadianis and an American named Mansur Ejaz, who, Mir claims, even offered to solve the Kashmir issue.

At one point, the voice on the other end claims to have abducted Khawaja. Here, Mir volunteers further information linking Khawaja to the Lal Masjid operation, saying that Khawaja and his wife were the ones responsible for the death of Ghazi Rasheed and the humiliating capture of Maulana Abdul Aziz and his family. Mir then urges the man to cross-examine Khawaja about his relationship with Mansur Ejaz, Qadianis and a CIA agent named William Casey....

Will the American non-Muslims who pushed Mir tirelessly before conservative audiences and vociferously denounced those who exposed him now apologize? I won't be holding my breath.

This story of Hamid MIr is both incredible and not at all incredible. It is incredible in the sense that the story of Hamid Mir perfectly incapsulates, beyond anyone's wildest rhetorical dreams, the way in which Muslims are capable of fooling the world, or much of it. For Hamid Mir not only fooled, it appears, a great many people in the United States when he came on his mission, but also may have fooled, in a different way, even some fellow Muslims who, while they were prepared to indulge him as long as Al Qaeda and other groups consisting of people who took their Islam straight up were waging war on Americans, or Indians, are not prepared to see these groups also wage war on fellow Muslims, that is the landowners in feudal Pakistan, or the other zamindars and generals who never minded the anti-Infidel hatred, but do mind being made the object of attack.

But it is not at all incredible to those who have been coming to this website. We are not surprised, just in the way that Ayaan Hirsi Ali has said that when she heard, late on September 11, 2001of what had happened that morning, she was both surprised and not at all surprised, surprised at the operation itself, but not at all surprised in another sense, for she immediately understood who had done it, and why, for she had been living with the texts of Islam, and the attitudes of Muslims toward Infidels, all of her life.

When Hamid Mir came to the United States in 2006, no one in Pakistan saw him as anything more than a trusty true-blue Muslim. And in the United States, no one cared to see him as anything other than a plausible, nice guy, one more candidate in the "Moderate Muslim" competition. But he said this, and he said that, and for Spencer, that is for the well-informed, long used to detecting the telltale clues of what gives away the phoniness of various "moderate Muslims" -- and also the motivation, for some Mulims misrepresent Islam out of embarrassment and an inability intellectually to justify, to themselves, their own insistence on remaining Muslims, so they make up a private Islam, and present it as the real thing, thus misleading Infidels as badly, sometimes, as the most determined deliberate practitioner of Taqiyya, such as the sinister and colubrine Tariq Ramadan.

When Robert grasped what Hamid Mir was about, he said so, thus no doubt earning him, back at that panel in 2006, a little distancing scorn from fellow panelists. But for posterity he made the happy choice not to leave it at that, but to put up a posting about it. So now it is there for all to see, and one hopes that Hamid-Mir will enter the language, as other names -- Quisling, Martinet, Guillotin, Elbridge Gerry- have done. Let it stand for the problem of the Muslim "moderate" who plies his deceptive trade with great success, and no doubt would continue to do so uninterrupted, were he not finally unmasked. And in the case of Hamid Mir, the original, it took a fortuitous tape-recording in one country, in 2010, but for those willing to listen, only the observations on Hamid Mir's telltale remarks, by the well-informed Robert Spencer, made four years earlier, in another.

Mir is Osama bin Laden's biographer, the senior editor of GEO-TELEVISION in Pakistan, and a well known Triple-Crosser.

No Pakistani, individual or faction can be trusted. That being said, no Westerner, especially those in our Intel agencies (Who employ Pakistanis on "loan" from the ISI), can provide the sort of information that a duplicitous piece of garbage such as Mir can.

You must walk deep in the sewers to catch a rat.

All the best,

Michael

"Will the American non-Muslims who pushed Mir tirelessly before conservative audiences and vociferously denounced those who exposed him now apologize?"

That would be Jeffrey wouldn't it??

All the info needed for the Muslims to carry out an execution...Islamic style...brutal and bloody...

Islam rules through the enforcement of death decrees...and anyone who strays from the Islamic path and seeks alternatives to the everyday onslaught of Islamic death subjects himself to those very death sentences....and being Muslim will not save him...

Muslim kill Muslims every day...it is how they keep control of the Muslim masses...

afterall...Peace and anything Non Muslim is Un-Islamic...

And so continues the fabulous myth of the 'moderate moslem'.

Next we'll discuss Unicorns and where best to find one.

As we all know, Pakistan and its tribal regions are most assuredly the belly of the beast where radical Islam is concerned. That Mir was included in the 2006 event in Las Vegas simply offered a glimpse into the Pakistani mindset, for what that was worth...if it was worth anything.

Personally, I was pleased that I kept Mr. Mir at arm's length during the event, albeit interesting as it was.

Perhaps the value of his inclusion was that those in attendance could see first hand how easily al Taqiyya is executed. Or, even, that jihadists and those who abet them routinely tell Westerneers what they are about to do before they do it in calm general terms.

Bottom line, there is always something to learn from an experience. In meeting and listening to Mir, I certainly learned something...nefarious as it was.

As for those who "pushed Mir tirelessly before conservative audiences and vociferously denounced those who exposed him...", well, there were a lot of things not on the up and up with the "chief" producer of those symposiums, but then, I should have known better from the start...

"Breathe in, breathe out, move on..."

"Qadianis" is an appellation for Ahmadi Muslims, considered apostates by many if not most mainstream Muslims.

Which is not to say that Ahmadis are "moderate" in any realistic western sense. Although they generally oppose violent tactics to achieve their goal, that goal is shariah for the world.

What was the nom de plume of the British-Pakistani Ahmadi woman who formerly took it upon herself to defend Islam here at Jihadwatch?

I think that was naseem or wentee(sp)
She's no doubt knitting under a guillotine somewhere.

Problem with Pakistani media is lot more complex than just Hamid Mir.

Pakistan's three top media outlets are run by the younger brothers of Pakistan army's chief spokesperson.

DAWN- top Pakistani newspaper
Geo TV- main TV channel in Pakistan
ARY - number 2 TV channel in Pakistan

Zaffar Abbas heads Dawn, Azhar Abbas heads Geo and Mazhar Abbas has a prominent position in ARY.

Major General Athar Abbas is incharge of Pakistan Army information. He is the boss man! And, guess what his three brothers lead three main media outlets. Go figure!
