Misunderstander of Islam in Toronto pleads guilty to plotting mass murder for his god. "Toronto 18 ringleader pleads guilty in terror trial," by Isabel Teotonio for the Toronto Star, May 10 (thanks to Sr. Soph):

In a surprise about-turn, Fahim Ahmad, the ringleader of the so-called Toronto 18 has pleaded guilty.
The reversal of his plea was revealed Monday morning to jurors in what is a landmark trial -- the first terrorism case in Canada to be decided by a jury.

Ahmad, described both as a "time bomb waiting to go off" and a "fantasist," wanted to attack nuclear stations and storm Parliament, taking politicians hostage until they gave into his demands to pull troops from Afghanistan....

Ahmad was charged with contributing to a terrorist group for the purpose of carrying out an act of terror; importing firearms for a terrorist group, and instructing co-accused to carry out an activity for a terrorist group....

The Brampton court was told that in August 2005 Ahmad rented a car for two men, who were stopped at the U.S. border trying to re-enter Canada with three loaded semi-automatic guns....

He got the initial phase of his plan underway in late December 2005, when he organized a training camp in the woods near Washago, Ont. Attendees, as young as 15, listened to jihadi lectures and participated in military-style exercises and firearms training, led by Shaikh, who was then working for the RCMP....

But Ahmad's intents would have been clear to most after he delivered an impassioned speech, exhorting attendees by saying, "We're here to kick it off. . . Victory is near . . . Our mission is great, whether we get arrested, tortured or killed. . . Rome has to be defeated."

Hoping to show off how serious they were to potential recruits, local imams and jihadi leaders overseas, they captured their exploits on camera.

Videos, later seized by police, contain Ahmad's fiery speech and shows them training with a 9-mm handgun and playing paintball war games.

In early February 2006, Ahmad turned his attention to securing a safe house and court was told he drove with Chand, Shaikh and another man to Opasatika, near Kapuskasing. Ahmad said he also planned to use the house for storage of a mass shipment of weapons he claimed to have ordered.

During the trip, a car probe captures Ahmad asking, "Hey, wanna be part of the group that goes up to Parliament, man, cut off some heads?"

When asked what happens there, Ahmad replies, "We go and kill everybody."...

At the time of the initial arrests, the families of the accused were outraged. Toronto media was full of burka clad mothers and sisters loudly complaining about discrimination and police harrassment of their innocent young men.

What are these women saying now?

HAH! In 2008 I had an ongoing argument with a columnist at the Toronto Star about this guy. The columnist was absolutely SURE that he was innocent.

Off-topic, but I have a question for Robert Spencer, or anyone else who can answer it.
In Robert's book "The Truth about Muhammad", Robert states that the poetess Asma bint Marwan was pregnant when she was murdered on Muhammad's orders.
Where is it stated in the original sources that she way pregnant? I can't find any justification for the statement that she was pregnant. Is this an error on Robert's part?

I'm half-way through "Unmasking Muhammad" and it IS good. Written in the style of a 'psycho-biography' it makes a strong case for Muhammad's narcissistic deviancy not unlike other cult leaders through time - but still clearly worse. It's intelligently written but could use the editorial cleanup it would have received were it ever properly published. Still, I find the odd ESLishness kind of endearing. Muhammad, not so much.

Just what I was thinking—how is Fahim Ahmad a "fantasist"? It seems he was putting something pretty concrete together with his Jihad terror training camp.

I thought I was fairly much up on this case, when I run across this about one of the Jihad-camp trainers *working for the RCMP*. Good God—are the Mounties unwittingly training other Jihadists in the name of "diversity" and political correctness?

I admit I haven't read "The Truth about Muhammad" yet—but it is on my "to read" list.

I have never heard that Asma bint Marwan was pregnant when she was murdered, but she *was* nursing her baby, who was ripped from her breast as she was sleeping. Here's the Hadith:

From Ibn Sa`d's Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir, translated by S. Moinul Haq, volume 2, pages 30-31.

SARIYYAH OF `UMAYR IBN `ADI

Then (occurred) the sariyyah of `Umayr ibn `Adi Ibn Kharashah al-Khatmi against `Asma' Bint Marwan, of Banu Umayyah Ibn Zayd, when five nights had remained from the month of Ramadan, in the beginning of the nineteenth month from the hijrah of the apostle of Allah. `Asma' was the wife of Yazid Ibn Zayd Ibn Hisn al-Khatmi. She used to revile Islam, offend the prophet and instigate the (people) against him. She composed verses. Umayr Ibn Adi came to her in the night and entered her house. Her children were sleeping around her.

"There was one whom she was suckling. He searched her with his hand because he was blind, and separated the child from her. He thrust his sword in her chest till it pierced up to her back. Then he offered the morning prayers with the prophet at al-Medina. The apostle of Allah said to him: "Have you slain the daughter of Marwan?" He said: "Yes. Is there something more for me to do?" He [Muhammad] said: "No. Two goats will butt together about her. This was the word that was first heard from the apostle of Allah. The apostle of Allah called him `Umayr, "basir" (the seeing)."

It's an appalling incident—and sets the precedent for hundreds of thousands of murders over the centuries of those who have "insulted" or "mocked" Islam or the loathsome "Prophet" Muhammed.

The death threats aimed at Salman Rushdie, at Kurt Westergaard and the rest of the MoToon cartoonists, at Lars Vilks, at Matt Stone and Trey Parker of South Park, all date from this savage murder, ordered by Muhammed. The line "two goats will butt together about her" indicates that "no one will care about this woman's death".

Of course, the "Prophet" was wrong about that.
