Actually Faiz Mohammad appears to be another Misunderstander of Islam. More on this story. "Man arrested in Pakistan trying to board plane with batteries and electrical circuit in shoes," from the Telegraph, May 9:
Pakistani officers arrested a man at Karachi airport after batteries and an electrical circuit were found in his shoes as he tried to board a plane for the Middle East, an official said. The 30-year-old civil engineer allegedly told interrogators he came from Pakistan's northwestern province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Taliban and Islamist militants have a presence, and had been scheduled to travel to Muscat by Thai Airways.Mohammad Munir, Airport Security Force spokesman, said the bearded man, whom he named as Faiz Mohammad, was arrested when a scanner sounded an alarm.
The suspect was not found in possession of explosives, but Munir described the circuit discovery as "worrying"."He was on the way to board flight TG 507 for Muscat. After the machine gave the alarm, we checked him manually," said the spokesman.
"We have recovered four live batteries and a circuit, with a button to switch it on and off," Munir said....
Probably the Muslim edition of hands-free computing
Could have been just a test - a trial run - to see if this technique worked. Or there could have been an accomplice, who carried the rest of the stuff, the explosives, a la Nigerian Xmas jihadi.
That's because the difference between Muslims and human beings is that human beings have the opposable thumb.
Quite right. It would be a simple matter to have the various components carried on by others and meet onboard.
The IRA used a similar system to outmaneuver the law in Northern Ireland. One man or better still a woman carried the weapon to the designated user and another brought the magazine and ammunition. That way if either was caught they could not be charged with being in possession of a weapon.
Coulda been that, or a probe to see if a new wiring array/component could make it through a scanner, or to test the capabilities of a new type of scanner.
It wasn't a dry run. There are no weapons in a dry run, which is basically a walk-thru.
Either way...

A probe is when they try to see if some tactic or item works, not a dry run. Probes come first, then dry runs.
The IRA system, where one man (or, preferably, woman) carries the WEAPON, while another carries the MAGAZINE and the AMMUNITION, won't work for most Islamic terrorists. Most IRA terrorists first attend Christian schools, where they are taught to read.
Most Muslim governments keep their subjects illiterate, only-too-well aware that if their masses ever learned to read, and could read freely, it would not be very long before they switched from attacking their leaders' enemies to attacking the leaders themselves.
Nor has this lesson been lost on business and political elites all around the world.
Clearly, Faiz Mohammad must be an American operative.
Here's this story:

Wait! Isn't there a hadith that makes it halal for Muslims to wire their shoes for electricity?
This ..."no wait' headings gives a wrong message. Hope Robert
consider this.
@margaritha,
Long time posters here understand the "...no, wait..." headings are meant to be humourous.
Sometimes we need a little humour to help deal with the evils we learn about every day.
I have been reading JihadWatch for some time now, but it the constant sarcasm has become somewhat tedious. I make no case for extremists and terrorists, but please just "report the news" so to speak. "XYZ -- no wait..." and "Misunderstander of Islam" and "Religion of Peace" in posts may be taken more or less for granted. To read this sarcasm in post after post after post simply becomes tedious. Please just report the news without all the unnecessary sarcasm. Thank you.
dry run..
