Pakistan: Taliban amputates hands of three men accused of theft

Of course, like many practices in Sharia law that violate modern standards of human rights and prohibitions on cruel and unusual punishment, amputation for theft persists in the Islamic world because it is enshrined in the Qur'an (5:38). "Taliban court orders amputation for thieves," from the Zimbabwe Star, May 5:

Taliban militants have cut off the hands of three men in Pakistan.
Pakistani police from the tribal region of Orakzai, near the Afghanistan border, have confirmed the incident, which was ordered by a Taliban sharia court.
The court ordered the right hands of three local tribesmen should be cut off as punishment for an alleged theft.
After the amputations, the men were transported to a hospital for treatment.
The resultant blood loss following the amputations has put the men in danger of losing their lives.

Islams swell...ain't it?

I think this would make a very good SIOE bus sign; all centered:

The Qur'an
Chapter 5 Verse 38
"As to the thief, Male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in power.

And an appropriate picture.

CAIR and other organizations can't claim it offends them and it gets the point across.

Yeah, swell. I'm being fitted for my burqa, this afternoon.

I believe there are photos available, too. It seems that some Iraqi amputees were fitted with prosthetic hands (by their "occupiers!")in post-Saddam Iraq.

Surely there are "before" images.

Here's a picture of a Taliban with his victim's amputated hands, courtesy of RAWA:

It takes a moment of looking at this to even realize what you're looking at—it's that unnatural. The brutal Taliban looks quite happy with himself, though. What a horror.

Kind of funny the next verse, 5:39 says, “But if the thief repents after his crime, and amends his conduct, Allah turneth to him in forgiveness; for Allah is oft-forgiving, most merciful.” So I’m guessing the Taliban isn’t as forgiving as Allah.

Oh, for the good old days......when Afghanistan was the only Taliban dominated hellhole.

Oh, for the good old days......when Afghanistan was the only Taliban dominated hellhole.

Yes. And it's only a matter of time until we can add the UK and most of Europe, and eventually the US, to the list of "Taliban dominated hellholes" as well.

Oh, the "perfect" system of Islam. How lawful and orderly everyone is in Islam-o-world! Can't you just feel the love? Despite the police state, Muslims still can commit all sorts of crimes against the infidels. In the Qur'an, it is all halal. Isn't that special?

As violent a punishment, some criminals need this. Our jails are filled with repeat offenders, not to mention the years & years of appeals of criminals on death row. NO, I am not a Muslim, I am a Roman Catholic and my parents came from Italy LEGALLY in 1920. I believe in Capital Punishment. Take a look at the inmates at Gitmo, they are living better than they ever did.

As violent a punishment, some criminals deserve this. Our jails are filled with repeat offenders, not to mention the years & years of appeals of criminals on death row. From post above...As violent a punishment, some criminals deserve this.

'Off with their heads/hands' yelled the Red Queen...
HMM Robert, one problem with implementing that kind of punishment in the west, is who do you hire to do that kind of work? Back in the old days, when torturer was a respected position, it was easy to get trainee's. A full time job in a dungeon was considered honorable work... After thirty years of hard work torturing people every day they could retire with a generous pension...Not so today...Torture has gotten a bad rap...the only people interested in torture today are government agents who don't torture to punish, Mahoundians who do torture to punish, and those who you would not invite home to dinner, or leave your children alone with for five minutes...I don't think it's a good idea for the state to establish, the 'Dept of Amputations and Punishment'...Sounds too much like Sharia...

How to stump a Muslim:

Ask them- since Mohammad stole his religion from the Jews and gnostic Christians, shouldn't he have been the first person, under this draconian Law, to have his own hands lopped off.

Homicidal hypocrites.

the number of even handed Islamic men has just been reduced by three...the number of odd handed Islamic men has just increased by three

"How to stump a Muslim:"

too easy....use a sharp machete...

Pakistan: Taliban amputates hands of three men accused of theft
...................

Does anyone remember this idiotic story from back in January in the New York Times?

"Taliban Overhaul Image to Win Allies"

"...The Taliban’s spiritual leader, Mullah Muhammad Omar, issued a lengthy directive late last spring outlining a new code of conduct for the Taliban. The dictates include bans on suicide bombings against civilians, burning down schools, or cutting off ears, lips and tongues."

I guess cutting off *hands* is still AOK!

Are you listening, barak hussein? Explain to us again how these are our new allies.

So you think that it's a good idea that anyone who steals anything should have a hand cut off? And another hand, if they offend again? I wouldn't cut off someone's hand if they stole my car! All I want is my car back!

For your information, since you claim to be a Catholic, neither the Hebrew laws of the Old Testament nor the moral instructions given by St Paul in the pastoral epistles, envisage either the execution or the mutilation of a thief.

In the legal portions of the Hebrew scriptures, the punishment for theft involves being made to restore what was stolen, plus something extra on top.

St Paul teaches that penitent thieves within the Christian community must work hard in order to support themselves and so that they may have something to give to the needy. (In other words: instead of being takers, they are to become producers and givers...which would be rather hard to do, if your hand had been cut off).

Paul doesn't say what might be done with an unrepentant thief who's been caught; after all, at that point he was living inside the pagan Roman Empire under pagan laws.

But do you think that if St Paul, who was trained as a Jewish rabbi, had been in a position to advise lawmakers, he would have advised them to inflict a Muslim-style chopping off of the thief's hands - or even a 18th-century Enlightenment England hanging or exile of the thief - in preference to the Biblical injunction that the thief must pay back what he stole?

DDA: "I wouldn't cut off someone's hand if they stole my car! All I want is my car back!"

LOL... Heck, in a carjacking, I would hand over my keys, and call my insurance company.

Notice that the right hands were cut off, leaving only the "najis" hand to use for eating, as well as for wiping the arse.

So, is that an amputation, or is it meant to be death by starvation, since it's haram to eat with the left hand?

No details as to what the other uses for the left hand might be, please!
