Yesterday in Human Events I discussed the ongoing willful ignorance:
Now that would-be Times Square car bomb jihadist Faisal Shahzad has been exposed as an Islamic jihadist, the liberal media are searching for an explanation, any explanation, for his attempted attack that doesn't involve Islamic jihad.Shahzad himself said he was acting in revenge for American drone attacks against Islamic jihadists in Pakistan. This establishes his jihadist leanings all the more vividly. But, according to clinical psychologist James Monahan of the University of New Haven, Shahzad was "the runt of the litter; the child who couldn't meet his parents' expectations." Or "maybe he was starting to see the hopes of living the good life in America die and he began feeling like a failure."
Ezra Klein, writing in the Washington Post, was even more fanciful. Noting that Shahzad defaulted on the mortgage on his home in Connecticut and that the property is now in foreclosure, Klein discovered a brand-new motivation for jihadist violence: "Foreclosures generate an enormous amount of misery and anxiety and depression that can tip people into all sorts of dangerous behaviors that don't make headlines but do ruin lives. And for all that we've done to save the financial sector, we've not done nearly enough to help struggling homeowners."
In other words, the U.S. government had better bail out struggling homeowners, or car bombs will start going off all over the U.S....
"Now that would-be Times Square car bomb jihadist Faisal Shahzad has been exposed as an Islamic jihadist, the liberal media are searching for an explanation, any explanation, for his attempted attack that doesn't involve Islamic jihad."
How 'bout - can anyone explain this American mass psychosis?
His reason is obvious. He hated that car.
"Foreclosures generate an enormous amount of misery and anxiety and depression that can tip people into all sorts of dangerous behaviors that don't make headlines but do ruin lives. And for all that we've done to save the financial sector, we've not done nearly enough to help struggling homeowners." (or jihadists)
I dont want to pay my morgage, so thats why I say "Death to America." Whaaa...
Were the people that he was trying to kill bankers or somthing?
Misery, anxiety, depression, dangerous behavior, struggling homeowners. Ohhh the fear. *Shudder*
What the hell does that have to do with bombing time square?
"Foreclosures generate an enormous amount of misery and anxiety and depression"
Faisal Shahzad quit his job as financial analyst, he was not laid off.
His wife didn't leave him, he left her to go back to Pakistan to get bomb training from the Taliban.
Shahzad stopped paying the mortgage and told the bank to take the house, because he was moving back to Pakistan. The bank didn't foreclose on him, he foreclosed on the bank.
These weren't events that were happening to him, causing him depression. These are actions that he chose to take.
The man didn't pay his mortgage because he knew he wasn't going to be living in the house!
How stupid are these people, that they can't see this?
Most likely he had been a stealth jihadist for years, blending in, getting a job, buying a house, raising a family, while at the same time clandestinely training for the day he got the signal to attack...There are most likely many more just like him...waiting in the wings for their signal...
Or it could be that he was suffering a severe toothache...A new phenomena identified for the first time by the incomparable Geraldo, (Jerry Rivers), when he was looking for excuses for the murderous behavior of the Jihadist Hasan, of Ft Hood...These people don't need prison, they need a dentist...
LOL, swami!
What dhimmitude from a section of the media! For these clowns, muslims are always blameless; it must be others' fault. Have these clowns in the media ever wondered how many Buddhists, Hindus, or Christians have placed car bombs anywhere because their house was foreclosed? It is islam, stupid!
Right Indian Tiger, the game they play is called: "Don't blame Islam for what Muslims do". But just as it is extreme to blame Islam for everything that is done by persons who happen to be Muslims, it is equally extreme, absurd to try to prove that: either nothing Muslims do is due to Islam (so also not his/ her good deeds)
or the extent of what Muslims do that is influenced by Islam is rougly equivalent with what followers of other religions do under influence of their religion.
And then they, being Muslims, civil servants and journalists, go implicitly on to demand from the other citizens to keep trusting all Muslims blindly!
When their suspicion is so logically aroused, they must now wait until total certainty before reacting one bit that is one bit detrimental or disrespectful to one Muslim!
Whereas with all other potential dangers the normal reaction would be to take no chances, here the public may take or ask no appropriate precautions!

I've noticed the growth of this grotesquely false argument as well. As posters Special Guest and I'm No Dhimmi well note, this argument confuses cause and effect. Shahzad defaulted on his mortgage *because he was a Jihadist*—because he had decided to return to Pakistan for Jihad training, and that there was no further reason to continue to pay his Kufr mortgage holder, when he could use those dollars to fund Jihad instead.
He did not decide to become a Jihadist *because he lost his home*. Not only is this, as noted above, a completely fraudulent argument in Shahzad's case, but is a grotesque argument *in any case*. It puts the onus for his Jihad on the American housing crisis—rather than on Islam, where it belongs.
Earlier this year, my husband was laid off. It was an anxious time. Even though we have fairly substantial savings, one of the things we could not help but think of was losing our home if he couldn't find another position in a bad economy.
He was able to find another job fairly quickly, but it was scary. I can tell you, though—whatever might have happened—even including the bank foreclosing on us and our winding up in some tiny rental apartment in a skeevy part of town—or, hell, even on the street—it never would have occurred to us that the proper response to this would be to fill an SUV with explosives and park it in Times Square, in a bid to murder our fellow citizens.
I believe much of the housing crisis was preventable, but that is hardly the issue here. Whatever the West's current fiscal failings might be, this has little effect on the call to Jihad one way or another. Large numbers of Americans have lost their homes in this housing crisis—how many have turned to terrorism as a result?
In reality, Faisal Shahzad had a good career, a nice home and an attractive family in America, and it was not enough to keep him from returning to Islamic hell-hole Pakistan for training to kill Infidels. Jihad proved stronger than the American Dream.
We have seen this over and over again, with Muslims in the United States, in Canada, in Europe, in Australia—Muslims who leave a comfortable, safe life in the civilized West to answer the siren call of Jihad back in Dar-al-Islam—and, in many cases, to bring their jihad back to the civilized West that nurtured them and gave them opportunities.
NY Times Columnist Compares to al-Qaeda Leader to Jesus, Flatly Rejects Jihadism Had Anything to do With Times Square Bomb Plot…

If I get foreclosed on I'll just go rent a place, and probably for less money. These do-gooder idiots in the blind liberal press will wake up eventually though... when THEY become the victims of the very thing (Islam) they so stupidly support right now. Keep bowing down...
WHAT EVERYONE OF YOU ALWAYS IGNORES ! Why are you all always surprised when Muslims act like your friend and then try to cut your throats with a slow sawing Motion? Consider: They all have a Bible that tells them to murder any fellow "Bible of Murder" Worshiper if they should vary from the primary behavioral requirements writ down in this book by the will God Himself who also said that whoever changes this Bible (called the Koran), or hurts it, must be murdered. I ask you, "What kind of crazy person would dare to deviate from what this Magic Mighty Bible demands of everyone who at sometime in his or her life bowed down to it and worshiped it as if it were not a dead thing, but a real living divine entity? Should not the answer be obvious? And, when you get right down to it, what does said bible require except that all non believers in said living Bible be killed or enslaved or made into an inferior third class? Give me a break! Time to buy a gun, and scrape that dangerous anti-Muslim bumper sticker off.
The media practically and in effect declares that the self-professed jihadist, is fighting for his "right" (as a Muslim) to be privileged and take revenge upon infidels.
