Betrayal of an ally. "Israel recoils as US backs nuclear move," from Reuters, May 30 (thanks to Benedict):
Washington's unprecedented backing for a UN resolution for a nuclear-free Middle East that singles out Israel has both angered and deeply worried the Jewish state although officials are cagey about openly criticising their biggest ally. The resolution adopted by the United Nations on Friday calls on Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and urges it to open its facilities to inspection.
It also calls for a regional conference in 2012 to advance the goal of a nuclear-free Middle East.
Israel is widely believed to be the only nuclear power in the Middle East, with around 200 warheads, but has maintained a policy of deliberate ambiguity about its capabilities since the mid-1960s.
The document, which singles out Israel but makes no mention of Iran's controversial nuclear programme, drew a furious reaction from the Jewish state who decried it as "deeply flawed and hypocritical."
But it was US backing for the resolution which has caused the most consternation among Israeli officials and commentators, who interpreted the move as "a resounding slap around the face" which has dealt a very public blow to Israel's long-accepted policy of nuclear ambiguity. [...]
"It is an undeniably negative change to US policy" with regards to Israel's nuclear programme, said Eitan Gilboa, an analyst from Bar Ilan University near Tel Aviv.
Pointing to contradiction between Obama both applauding the resolution and criticising it for singling out Israel, Gilboa said Washington was "losing its leadership role because of the naive and unrealistic" outlook of its president....
Indeed.
Look, the whole thing is very simple. There are 350 million Arabs, who control 22 states and a land area more than a thousand times the area of Israel. There is Islam-maddened mahdi-maddened Iran, with a land area by itself twenty or thirty times the size of Israel. There are the vast oil resources that is a gift that keeps on giving, to Arabs and Iranians alike -- some thirteen trillion dollars since 1973 alone -- money that pays for diplomatic assaults, propaganda aided and abetted by Western hirelings, some of them true Believers and antisemites, others merely in it for the money. More than a trillion of that money has gone to buy Western arms, and to pay for projects related to nuclear weapons, and other weapons of mass destruction.
If you want Israel to survive, then you have to understand that there will never ever be a day when Israel can afford to give up its nuclear arsenal. Never.
If you are murderously hostile to Israel, or merely coldly and cruelly indifferent to its fate, then you will pretend not to understand this, and will aid and abet those Arabs and other Muslims who recognize that in order to destroy Israel they must first get rid of its nuclear arsenal. That will not bring peace but certain war, and the war will be one of Israel's destruction, and the mass killing -- have no doubt about it -- of the Jews of Israel.
That's it. There is nothing else you need to know.
Those who call for a nuclear-free Middle East are calling for the destruction of the Jews of Israel.
End of story.
Betrayal, what betray and what ally? Israelm's ugly radicalism within its system has all but destroyed the image of a country that proven so much.
As written in my item http://blootstellen.wordpress.com/2010/05/31/israel%e2%80%99s-increased-radicalization/ , the farce over pointing fingers at Iran and not Israel is one hypocrisy that is being dismantled.
Let us hope that after this, Israel will shed itself of radical Zionism (the Jewish older-brother of Islamism), have elections that shrug-off religous extremism that makes Israel in fact the most radically religous country on this planet, and start becoming a member of the unternational community of nations.

"The resolution adopted by the United Nations on Friday calls on Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and urges it to open its facilities to inspection."
The americans are upholding Israel to the same standards than the rest of the international community, is order to make progress with the nuclear iran problem and further stability in the region?
Betrayal!
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I was always pretty sure that Obama likes Israel even less than America. I think Israel ought to let the world know that, if forced, the only way they will get rid of their nuclear weapons is by expending them on Mecca, Medina and some other key areas.
Obama is a fool sucking up the Muslim nations this way. He knows that Israel will never abandon its nuclear arsenal out of necessary self defense. This nonsense only increases tensions and loses maybe a lot of liberal Jewish votes. Why so many (or any) American Jews are Obamacrats I can't imagine. Could this be a real wake up call for them?
I hope Israel won't blame Americans too much for Obama - they were just fooled. I'm fairly confident we'll get rid of him in 2012 and start behaving like a real ally again.
Ho hum, yet another trashy antisemite, who would love to see the ovens and showers of Auschwitz back in action again, crops up here. They're so predictable, and have the same enthusiasm of their hero Nasrallah in seeking the destruction of the Israeli state.
Hang in there Israel, a few more months and we are going to vote out the treasonous bastards running our government. Every single day the Obama administration seems to be distancing itself from the free world, while embracing the Islamic Nazi's of the world.
My best advice for Israel is, just ignore Obama he will go away in time ... Israel however will remain long after Obama is voted out on his Obunger.
Why don't you get out of here, you Islamic Barbarian?
Go back to your pathetic muzlim blog. Good Riddance.
Will Israel exist by 2012 or 2013? The clock is ticking down and Obama seems intent on speeding it up.
Perfectly expressed, Hugh.
I always wonder about these people whom would love to see Muslims overwhelm Israel in a genocidal wave of Islamic violence. If they love the totalitarian systems Muslims rule themselves by why don't they immigrate to the Islamic world, and put up or shut the hell up? Why stink up the free-world with their inane rantings?
"Hang in there Israel, a few more months and we are going to vote out the treasonous bastards running our government. Every single day the Obama administration seems to be distancing itself from the free world, while embracing the Islamic Nazi's of the world."
Bravo! Hussein and his infernal minions are TRAITORS. YOU TRAITORS - HUSSEIN, HOLDER, AXELROD, GIBBS, CLINTON AND INCOMPETANO.
And may I ask what standards does the US hold Islamic and Communist dictatorships to? Obviously far less than Israel. For 45 years or more, Islamic terrorists and those who support them have been given a free pass by successive US administrations. Bugger all was done whilst US citizens were being butchered in cold blood. What was the response to the murder of 241 US peacekeepers in Beirut, whilst the response to 9/11 has been to pursue a folly of 'nation building' when they should have been bombing the hell out of Saudi Arabia - the font of hate where 15 of the 19 terrorists came from. The US has never stood up for those persecuted by Muslim despots. They are running scared of Hamas and Hezbollah and the tyrants of Iran, but undermining Israel and bombing the Orthodox Christian Serbs (and I notice there was no nation building in Serbia) is fine in the corridors of power in Washington.
"Ho hum, yet another trashy antisemite [Blootstellen], who would love to see the ovens and showers of Auschwitz back in action again, crops up here."
Exactly. EVIL "Blootstellen." - Go back to your evil blog, Mohammedan.
Never!
Misquoting Jumanah Imad Albahri, 'do Israelis want to put themselves on a cross'?
Then there's Obama? If he uses this as a stick he'll regret it. He's obviously worried about the falling ratings amongst US Jews, hence the Netanyahu meeting planned this week as a repairing manouvre.
As for Israelis? How low can he sink in their estimation?
He's got a choice, side with Turkey or side with Israel.
This is his new rock and hard place.
Lets see which he chooses, then we'll know for sure the true measure of the man.
My hat is off to Israel. This is serious time that they are going through. I am confident they will come throu' till our next election 2012. So, hang in there we are here all with you.
Obama is not America. We can still vote for decent representatives in government, and by doing so we can stop the worst of his ambitions, assuming we aren't at war by then against Israel.
If it should come to pass that we don't rid this world of Obama and his coterie of Left dhimmi fascists, then perhaps it'll be time to move on to some other form of action, something more direct, as it were.
Every time Israel protects itself the worms come out of the woodwork to protest...The slippery slimy critters have all kinds of nasty gunk to smear on Israel or Jews...often the US as well...I see them in comments sections all over the place including JW...You can tell them because they leave a slime trail behind them...I think I spotted a couple of slime trails on this thread...I'm going to sprinkle some salt around, worms and salt don't mix well...
I have three words for Israel...'Israel, defend thyself'...almost sounds religious...
Israel cannot depend on Rasool Obama...except to be undependable...he is more dependable to Pakistan and the Taliban than he is to Israel...
More Obama Bin Laden Taqiyya in subtle increments so as to not raise the eyebrows of the American 'sleeping dog' until his conscious and/or unconscious financial looting and destrucive policies have been accomplished.
Obama's no fool. He knows exactly what he is doing. The fools are the American voters who supported him and who continue to believe that he supports Israel. All of them will get exactly what they deserve - NOTHING.
If my country is going to abandon Israel and side with her enemies then I think it's time Israel tells Obama and CO. to go pound sand.
"We will seek new alliances without consideration for the interests of our former American allies. This is a regrettable situation, but we must act in our own best interests."
Sonofwalker is so correct that Obamanation is NOT America. In fact, it's clear that he HATES America! He may or may not be a muslim himself but he's a perfect metaphor for islam; he taints and damages everything he touches.
Oh, and BTW, he chose not to honor our servicemen and women at Arlington today. He chose to hang with his pal "Calypso Louie"
Farakhan. Just as he refused to participate in the National Day of Prayer. Anyone out there getting a clue?
Obama is a Muslim or a want- be Muslim. Israel should simple say that they are an independent nation and that they will do or not do want ever is in the best security interest of their country and people.
By mentioning 9/11, 15 of the 19 mass-murderers and where they came from, you are coming close to the decisive-moment in US response to islamic terror.
Appropriate response whould have been, at the veay least, to recall US ambassador from Saudi Arabia, kick Bandar-Bush out of US, freeze Saudi assets in US and put Saudi Arabia, on notice. However, then POTUS/Commander-in-chief lectured bruised and battered Americans on 9/17, from Islamic center:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_ZoroJdVnA
This was preceeded by letting Bin-Ladens off to safety (when all US flights were grounded) and followed by blanking pages on Saudi in 9/11 interim report. As if the slap on 9/17 was not enough, the same visas exploited by 9/11 mass-murders, were doubled:
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2006/06/number-of-us-visas-to-saudis-doubles.html
Meanwhile, Obama's citizenship case quietly reaches supreme court: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/barackobama/a/obama_citizenship_questioned.htm
TO BLOODSTELLEN,
Just because you think it alright for all of westerm civilization to go the way of globalism- no borders,no countries, just the UN islamic laws does not make it right. We in the west should be doimg more to save our civiization rather than going the way of barbarians. We have more crime, more drugs, less true news, political correctess except for the minorities, more ghettos, more poverty in our countries since the left has taken over. We will never be as rich as our parents because of feeding the poor welfare countries of the the third world. It is the wests burden to feed the starving of the world while our roads, schools medicaire are going to the dogs. Affirmative action is taking away jobs to those people who deserve the jobs so that people who can not build their own civilization come here to rip us off. We have over 100 languages in an english country. Our welfare system is overburderned because of the immigrants. They tell us that the whites won't do those jobs but I do not believe it. Israel is the smartest country in the judeo christian world in wanting to preserve their heritage.
You make a great point, Alert! GWB did his fair share of Dhimmi-ing! After 9/11 he had the license and the opportunity to take all the measures you listed and then some. He could have set the tone for resistance and retribution to islam. Instead, he stood there with 2 disgusting (they're all disgusting) imams and declared that islam is a "religion of peace." That was a lie then & it's a lie now.
I'm not comparing GWB unfavorably to Obama.
I wouldn't compare almost ANYONE unfavorably to Obama! And I'm not a big fan of alternative history. But I can't help wondering how much better-off America (and the world) would be if GWB had embraced the truth and acted on it 9 years ago...
Alert, you may want to go back and examine that story carefully. It's dated December, 2009, almost six months old. Also, note the commentary at the end of page 2 of the story. If this were a viable story it would seem there would have been a followup.
Anyone else have comments about this?
"The resolution adopted by the United Nations on Friday calls on Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and urges it to open its facilities to inspection."
That matter is up to Israel, they are a free nation. If they sign the NPT, they will pay a price.
"It also calls for a regional conference in 2012 to advance the goal of a nuclear-free Middle East."
Good to see that in two YEARS the powers that be will get around to having a chat about a nuclear (arms?) free M.E.
The desert sands may glow at night by then.
I just posted this in another Israel-related thread. I think I shall post the whole thing here, in full. Satire at its blackest.

We Are Not Anti-Semites
By Steven Plaut
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, December 11, 2008
"We have nothing against Jews as such.
We just hate Zionism and Zionists.
We think Israel does not have a right to exist.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
Heavens to Mergatroyd. Marx Forbid. We are humanists. Progressives. Peace lovers.
Anti-Semitism is the hatred of Jews.
Anti-Zionism is opposition to Zionism and Israeli policies.
The two have nothing to do with one another. Venus and Mars. Night and day.
Trust us.
Sure, we think the only country on the earth that must be annihilated is Israel.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
Sure, we think that the only children on earth whose being blown up is okay if it serves a good cause are Jewish children.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
Sure, we think that if Palestinians have legitimate grievances this entitles them to mass murder Jews.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
Naturally, we think that the only people on earth who should never be allowed to exercise the right of self-defense are the Jews.
Jews should only resolve the aggression against them through capitulation, never through self-defense.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We only denounce racist apartheid in the one country in the Middle East that is not a racist apartheid country.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We refuse to acknowledge the Jews as a people, and think they are only a religion.
We do not have an answer as to how people who do not practice the Jewish religion can still be regarded as Jews.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We think that all peoples have the right to self-determination, except Jews, and including even the make-pretend Palestinian "people".
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We hate it when people blame the victim,
except of course when people blame the Jews for the jihads and terrorist campaigns against them.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We think the only country in the Middle East that is a fascist anti-democratic one is the one that has free elections.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We demand that the only country in the Middle East with free speech, free press, or free courts be destroyed in the name of democracy.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We oppose military aggression,
except when it is directed against Israel.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We really understand suicide bombers who murder bus-loads of Jewish children and we insist that their demands be met in full.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We think the only conflict on earth that must be solved through dismembering one of the parties to that conflict is the one involving Israel.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We do not think that Jews have any human rights that need to be respected, and especially not the right to ride a bus or sit in a cafe without being murdered.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
There exist Jewish, leftist anti-Zionists and we consider this proof that anti-Zionists could not possibly be anti-Semitic; not even the ones who cheer when Jews are mass murdered.
These leftist anti-Zionists and the Neturei Karta are the only Jews we think need be acknowledged or respected.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We do not think murder proves how righteous and just the cause of the murderer is, except when it comes to murderers of Jews.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We do not think the Jews are entitled to their own state and must submit to being a minority in a Rwanda-style "bi-national state," although no other state on earth, including the 22 Arab countries, should be similarly expected to be deprived of sovereignty.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We think that Israel's having a Jewish majority and a six-point star on its flag makes it a racist apartheid state.
We do not think any other country having an ethnic-religious majority or having crosses or crescents or "Allah Akbar" on its flag is racist or needs dismemberment.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We only condemn the "mistreatment" of women in the country of the Middle East in which they are not mistreated.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We only condemn the "mistreatment" of minorities in the country in the Middle East in which minorities are not brutally suppressed and mass murdered.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We demand equal citizen rights, which is why the only country in the Middle East in need of extermination is the only one in which such rights exist.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
We have no trouble with the fact that there is no freedom of religion in any Arab countries. But we are mad as hell at Israel for violating religious freedom, and never mind that we are never quite sure where or when it does so.
But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.
So how can you possibly say we are anti-Semites? We are simply anti-Zionists. We seek peace and justice, that's all.
And surely that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such."/ SARC OFF/

And here's something else, from Jewish comedian Larry Miller, as shared here by our Jewish poster 'jdamn' in December 2008.
Larry Miller on Israel: November 26, 2002
"A brief overview of the situation is always valuable, so as a service to all Americans who still don't get it, I now offer you the story of the Middle East in just a few paragraphs, which is all you really need.
'Don't thank me. I'm a giver. Here we go:
'The Palestinians want their own country.
'There's just one thing about that: There are no Palestinians. It's a made up word.
'Israel was called Palestine for two thousand years.
'Like "Wiccan", "Palestinian" sounds ancient but is really a modern invention.
'Before the Israelis won the land in war, Gaza was owned by Egypt, and there were no "Palestinians" then, and the West Bank was owned by Jordan, and there were no "Palestinians" then.
'As soon as the Jews took over and started growing oranges as big as basketballs, what do you know, say hello to the "Palestinians," weeping for their deep bond with their lost "land" and "nation."
'So for the sake of honesty, let's not use the word "Palestinian" any more to describe these delightful folks, who dance for joy at our deaths until someone points out they're being taped.
'Instead, let's call them what they are: "Other Arabs Who Can't Accomplish Anything In Life And Would Rather Wrap Themselves In The Seductive Melodrama Of Eternal Struggle And Death."
'I know that's a bit unwieldy to expect to see on CNN.
'How about this, then: "Adjacent Jew-Haters".
'Okay, so the adjacent Jew-Haters want their own country.
'Oops, just one more thing.
'No, they don't.
'They could've had their own country any time in the last thirty years, especially, two years ago at Camp David.
'But if you have your own country, you have to have traffic lights and garbage trucks and Chambers of Commerce, and, worse, you actually have to figure out some way to make a living. That's no fun.
'No, they want what all the other Jew-Haters in the region want: Israel.
'They also want a big pile of dead Jews, of course--that's where the real fun is -- but mostly they want Israel. Why?
'For one thing, trying to destroy Israel - or "The Zionist Entity" as their textbooks call it -- for the last fifty years has allowed the rulers of Arab countries to divert the attention of their own people away from the fact that they're the blue-ribbon most illiterate, poorest, and tribally backward on God's Earth, and if you've ever been around God's Earth, you know that's really saying something.
'It makes me roll my eyes every time one of our pundits waxes poetic about the great history and culture of the Muslim Mideast.
'Unless I'm missing something, the Arabs haven't given anything to the world since Algebra, and, by the way, thanks a hell of a lot for that one.
'Chew this around and spit it out: Five hundred million Arabs; five million Jews.
'Think of all the Arab countries as a football field, and Israel as a pack of matches sitting in the middle of it.
'And now these same folks swear that if Israel gives them half of that pack of matches, everyone will be pals.
'Really? Wow, what neat news.
'Hey, but what about the string of wars to obliterate the tiny country and the constant din of rabid blood oaths to drive every Jew into the sea?
'Oh, that? We were just kidding.
'My friend Kevin Rooney made a gorgeous point the other day:
'Just reverse the numbers.
' Imagine five hundred million Jews and five million Arabs.
'I was stunned at the simple brilliance of it.
'Can anyone picture the Jews strapping belts of razor blades and dynamite to themselves? Of course not. Or marshaling every fiber and force at their disposal for generations to drive a tiny Arab State into the sea? Nonsense.
'Or dancing for joy at the murder of innocents? Impossible.
'Or spreading and believing horrible lies about the Arabs baking their bread with the blood of children? Disgusting.
'No, as you know, left to themselves in a world of peace, the worst Jews would ever do to people is debate them to death.
'Mr. Bush, God bless him, is walking a tightrope. I understand that with vital operations coming up against Iraq and others, it's in our interest, as Americans, to try to stabilize our Arab allies as much as possible, and, after all, that can't be much harder than stabilizing a roomful of supermodels who've just had their drugs taken away.
'However, in any big-picture strategy, there's always a danger of losing moral weight.
'We've already lost some.
'After September 11 our president told us and the world he was going to root out all terrorists and the countries that supported them. Beautiful.
'Then the Israelis, after months and months of having the equivalent of an Oklahoma City every week (and then every day) start to do the same thing we did, and we tell them to show restraint.
'If America were being attacked with an Oklahoma City every day, we would all very shortly be screaming for the administration to just be done with it and kill everything south of the Mediterranean and east of the Jordan. (Hey, wait a minute, that's actually not such a bad id . . .ooh, that is, what a horrible thought, yeah, horrible.)"

and then read down some more.
Here is the portion that could be copied, and printed off, and read aloud by someone, or more than one person, on the steps of the United Nations building in New York:
"When one reads about some U.N. vote, in the Security Council or in the General Assembly,
"where the votes against Israel are usually on the order of 189 to 2, with a few abstentions,
"one is prompted to ask aloud of those ambassadors from civilized, or quasi-civilized lands,
" whether they can, when they return home to their New York apartments that night, and perhaps, mimicking Jean-Paul Belmondo in a famous scene in Breathless, looking closely at themselves in the mirror, how can they stand it?
"How can they bear to be participants in such hypocrisy and stupidity?
"Do they really believe the Arab propaganda?
"Is there something in the very atmosphere of the U.N. that causes people to lose their moral sense?
"And even if they are forced to follow orders from the foreign ministries at home, do they never protest? Never think to try to change those policies? Never seek to understand what is really going on in the endless siege of Israel?
"Never once try to identify with the Israelis, whose state was created because the civilized nations of the world, with men such as Clemenceau and Lloyd George, thought that it was, on the whole, the right and proper thing to do -- and the League of Nations regarded all of western Palestine, from the Jordan to the sea, as the very least that could be set aside
(when the Mandatory Power, Great Britain, unilaterally declared that the mandatory provisions regarding Jewish immigration and settlement would not apply to the area east of the Jordan, the Mandates Commission was horrified -- curious that no one bothers to consult, or make public, their remarks at the time).
"Do you look at yourself in the mirror, grimacing in the Belmondo manner, and reassure yourself about the day's events: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
"Are you proud of having joined the pack of wolves as they snapped at Israel, trying to bring it down to go in for the final kill?
"Or do you really believe that this war on Israel is really about "two tiny peoples, blah blah blah"?
"Exactly how stupid, or unseeing, are you?
"Do you ever -- you ambassadors from Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France, Poland, Hungary, Spain, and so on-- ever think about Islamic teachings as the basis for the permanent refusal to permit Israel to exist, whatever its size?
"And if it is its existence that matters, not its dimensions, then surely the Israelis should choose those dimensions that will both make their own defense strongest, and also make the other side believe those defenses are at their strongest.
"For only darura, necessity, keeps Arab states from attacking.
"The only thing keeping the peace in the MIddle East between the Muslim Arabs and the Jewish state, is fear by the Arabs of the consequences, and the ability of their leaders to note that Israel still is more powerful.
"But if that state is reduced in size, it is not only Israel that will suffer, but the Arab leaders who may not really wish to go to war.
"For, with a reduced and seemingly vulnerable Israel, they will no longer have the excuse (for the few who might want one) of darura.
"The very pressure put on Israel to further retreat is in fact leading not to peace but to war.
"There is no "two-state solution" -- and how can there be?
"What would Muhammad say -- yes, it's okay for the Infidels to have their own state, where the shari'a does not apply, and they are free to live as they wish, on land that was once part of dar al-Islam? Nonsense. Double nonsense.
"Were I a schoolboy, and in my school at every assembly there was a denunciation by 188 of my 189 classmates, of the one small scholarly schoolboy, sitting in the third row on the right, who seemed to want only to be left in peace to study, and who was constantly being harassed and bullied and threatened by a gang of 22 of the most unpleasant and violent of my classmates (who, let it be said, did not confine their aggression to that one schoolboy),
"I would behave as the American ambassador so often behaves {behaved, alas; this is now 2010, and under Obama the USA has joined the lynch mob - dda}, refusing to agree to the bullying, the lynch-mob mentality, the pious lies uttered and repeated and blandly accepted, about the "threat" coming from this single small boy, supposedly directed at those 22 bullies.
"Not to take that boy's side would have been intolerable. I couldn't stand it.
"But a great many of you ambassadors, and the Chris Pattens and Mary Robinsons of this great wide wonderful world we live in, find no difficulty in beating up, and beating up, that boy (and I won't go in to that boy's tortured, difficult life, or what happened to so many of his relatives, through time and space).
"How do you stand it, week after week, month after month, year after year, the nonsense and corruption and timewasting and hypocrisy and stupidity and paralysis and stench of failure on the East River? I couldn't stand it."
The argument, like shown in some responses above to my own post, is that as soon as you make a reference about Israel in the negative, even if it is only against the current government's policy is instantly shouted-down as anti-Semite. It has become an excuse by those with an agenda.
In my article about recent events regarding radicalization in Israel even starts off with :
"Israel is always a tough subject for countless reasons. As soon as you criticize the country you are assumed by many to criticize all Jews, the existence of the Jewish State and that you are pro-Palestinian, Hamas, Hezbollah and so on. Why can one not be worried, critical of and upset with the existing political structure and government of Israel? There is another side, of course, that being the victim status of Jews stemming from the holocaust and the victim status of a country that has been defending itself from day one against its neighbors."
I consider Zionism to be the older brother to Islamism - because it simply means the "political" version of the Faith - or in other words, the installing the faith itself as the corner-stone of the political philosophy. I have gon so far as to point out, in another article about Islamism, Salafis and Wahhabis that the root concept of Islamism (and I will say the same with Zionism) may be sound and fine for a certain environment but as soon as it affects the non-faithful it falls in a heap.
Being anti-Zionist has nothing to do with being anti-Semitic, nothing to do with wanting the destruction of Israel and has nothing to do with supporting the enemies of Israel or the Jewish people in general. The "either your with us or against us" is an argument that has only ever worked for and is ever pushed by radicals themselves, usually as a last straw because logically arguing their agenda is failing.
Personally I find the list of comments as arguments give by you as a failure, as it is contextually a failure and does not the cause of Israel any benefit either. Radicalism, be it Islamism or Zionism always fails and is morally repugnant and is agenda driven, thus the logic itself fails.
The object is to look factual, within context, dispassionately and then place the arguments clear. The list you have given I have seen time and time again, by both sides, radical Islamist Palestinians put the same argument, mostly emotive, mostly partial examples of events and never in full context and thus in the end valueless except for exciting emotions and moving "the mob".
If come down to the dispassionate, the academic, the facts within full context the issues to me do not become simple but certainly more clear.
Israel has the right to exist, not because God said so under the Zionist theme, but because simply put events put them there.
Israel has the right to defend itself, according to international standards, morals and protocol. Sure each country will push those limits if it suits it, but should be held accountable to the agreements they sign and participate in.
Israel is currently failing to be part of the international community, standards, morals and protocols. It is not the only one, it should not be singled out, it should not be attacked every single day by terrorists, its people should be able to live in peace and tranquility, but nevertheless it is failing.
Israel is losing its victim status quickly, the holocaust is no longer an excuse. It should not be forgotten but it is no longer a justification and the behaviour of the current regime in that country is ensuring that any such victim status is now gone and buried.
Israel cannot internationally justify its actions to defend itself the way it is doing it whilst it carries nuclear weapons that are illicit, not held accountable as the rest of the world does and whilst it is occupying others.
Equally, the Palestinians can not claim victim status nor as a nation whilst it engages in terrorism, is hijacked by violent islamism and does not actively seek a solution.
Just as equally, Israel should be treated as a rogue State until it stops in violent Zionism (settler movement, those demanding the West Bank, Gaza, Hebron as part of "the real Israel"), whilst it engages in collective punishment and does not also submit to international inspections and joins the NPT.
It comes down to radicalism. The arguments about Islam being radical is of course an agenda-based scam just as much as the argument that Israelis are all Zionist land-grabbing radicals. The a great section of the Musim world has been hijacked by radicalism over the last 30-odd years, that is for sure. To generalize, like by the blogger Spencer, is to suite another agenda. Equally, to blame the people of Israel for the ugliness of its politics and the radical infiltration by religous-political Zionist extremists within their politic system is just as dangerous, just as much a barrier to peace and should be exposed, "blootstellen" in Dutch, for what it is.

Nonsense.
You ignore the jihad ideology of Islam.
Islam hasn't been 'hijacked' at all. The motivations of the Barbary Pirates in the late 18th century were the same as those of the hijackers on September 11. The ideology that drove Muslims to attack Sind and the rest of India - and to keep on pillaging, destroying and killing helpless noncombatants by the tens and hundreds of thousands - is the same ideology that drove them to keep on attacking and attacking and attacking Byzantium, for *seven centuries*.
Flush with oil money, Islam is merely undergoing a period of revived jihad ambition and activity. It is what it always has been, since the 7th century. Most of the non-Muslims murdered by Muslims were murdered before the 18th century; millions upon millions upon millions, in three continents.
Islam lies low when it perceives itself as weak; Islam *attacks* as soon as it perceives itself to have an advantage.
That pattern is perceptible throughout its entire history.
And right now, the Ummah, the Mohammedan Mob, is feeling strong and tasting blood - Jewish blood every time a Jew is killed by Muslims whether within or beyond Israel, Christian blood in Egypt and Pakistan and in the various jihadist raids (Beslan, the Philippines, New York, London, Madrid, Moscow...), Hindu blood in Pakistan and India (Mumbai, for example), Buddhist blood in S Thailand.
It is, through and through, a religion of war, a system of physical, mental and spiritual enslavement that is, I think, possibly crueller and more total than any other that humans have invented and inflicted on themselves, and which believes itself destined to enslave every human being on the face of the earth. That is what it is. That is what it always has been.
And it **hates** Jews, qua Jews. Its very first mass-murders were of Jews. It hates Christians, too, of course; and Hindus, and anybody else who isn't a Muslim and who refuses to knuckle under. But it hates Jews, first and most of all. Goebbels academic pet , Johann von Leers, converted to Islam at least in part because he just *loved* the thorough-going viciousness with which the Muslims had crushed the dhimmi Jews in Muslim-ruled lands.
If you're concerned about Iran getting nukes, why not support a nuclear free zone in the region? Seems pretty sensible. Nobody can touch Israel from a military perspective anyway.
"jihad ideology in Islam".
Reading to much from this blog I suspect. Jihad in Islamic texts is about 1) personal inner struggle to be a better person and 2) to defend one's faith from attack.
Do not confuse the actions of radical Islamism with mainstream Islam. That is why Salafi and Wahhabi followers are not mainstream. A reality check would be nice.
Your failure to know history does not help your cause as well. Pirates were pirates. Do as I do, go see things for yourself, go to the Moroccan city of Salé next to Rabat, the capital of the Barbary Pirates (the "Sallee Rovers" as the Brits called them) and get a reality check. Some of these Pirates were Christian and even Jews, not that you will find that if you just read blogs.
Trying to use history as a tool and failing to use context is academically a fools game, history has no friends and if you do not support all of it, better you just make it up.
Attempting to give historical examples of men leading armies and putting gneralized causes to suit what "you want to believe" has been tried for generations and we all know better now that we have matured a bit. We can play the tit-for-tat game of who's army did what under God's name and frankly speaking the one who shows what so-called Christian Armies have done always wins.
Like the word "infidel" was a Crusader word describing non-faithfuls that incorporated "Jews", Bizantine was charging religous duties on Jews and Muslims and even to only a few centuries ago, my own country of The Netherlands had taxes on Jews and they had to ask permission to move about Amsterdam.
Because Robert likes to selectively cut & paste does not make him an academic, he is not. You will find anti-Jewish rhetoric in my own Christian scriptures as it describes the life and death of Christ as much as unified praise. Robert never quotes the Muslim's scriptures pointing out that all good Jews and Christians will stand shoulder to shoulder at the gates of heaven, or how they are referred to (along with Christians) as People of the Book. That Muslims believe in the prophethood of Abraham, Moses and Christ as well.
Reality sucks when you try and distort it eh?
A last point, quoting names and examples creates another tit-for-tat, we can start with St Abda (Abd-al-Masih) is a Christian saint and martyr. He was a converted Jewish youth who was killed by his father for his faith
I agree, a nuclear free middle-east would be the best option, at least that nightmare scenario would be taken out.
As for Israel's militaryS strength, I disagree. It is only the nukes that give the edge. Yes Jordan, Kuwait and Lebanon are no match but most scenarios put any conflict with Israel as a join effort and things turn around. Military analysts also point out that Syria could clean out the skies of Israeli planes as could the UAE and the larger numbers of troops would thus make the difference.
The other issue of course is now that Israel's own radicalization has taken the inherent victim status that they used and abused, other nations such as Turkey are now potential parties in any conflict with Israel. Turkey, apart from having the largest standing army in the region that is NATO equipped and trained, could hold out against a non-nuclear conflict with Russia, what would it and could it do to Israel?
This is all hypothetical of course, treaties and other international issues, obligations and economics are the factors that control who is is and out of any regionalised conflict.
Getting back to it, a nuclear free MENA region is and should be everyone's goal but I do not see it happening actually. It will happen only, though, if major states back Israel's defence and then that is never going to happen now unless there is peace effort and the radical coalition that makes up Israel's government is designed to not do that.
Cheers
Nuclear free from military use, or the use of nuclear in power generation?
The hiding of intentions behind a cloud of "peaceful nuclear electricty" is just deception. I do not support civil nuclear power, only the military uses, for then you know what to deal with.
The non-proliferation treaty, of which Iran is a signatory but Israel is not, permits uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes. Iran as a signer should have the rights of any other signer.
The old illegality racist white power South Africe was willing to buy nuclear weapon from Israel in 1974. Than why did Israel illegality try to stop than jewish scholar from releaseing this new to the world. Israel is the new old South Africian government. It I was president of the United State I woulde send than message to Israel in an language the only language they understand since 9 person where murder by Israel on the relif ship 9 Israel diplmat will be sent home in pine boxes.
Ho hum, it is time for defenderofbarbarity's deportation papers. If I were President of the United States, worthless trash like yourself would be kicked out of the US, along with the rest of the leeching, workshy, benefits-sucking Jihad-minded and hateful loafers who make up your family.
Now we know from blootstellen how 75% of Holland's Jews were murdered by the Nazis during World War II with hardly a ripple. Like the rest of Europe who were conditioned and still are conditioned into hatred of the Jew, 90% of the Dutch would willingly betray a hundred Jews for less than a glass of water.
As I mentioned, as soon as you express a dislike for the current regime in Israel out comes the school-yard mob-mentality of claiming Jew-hater. In this particular case the person obviously does not read or more to the point only reads what the "want to" or "think what is there".
I personally find pathetic those that do the "your with us or your against us" mentality, it is part and parcel of the philosophy of radicalism that in pushing their "lie" they must try and convince "the audience" that they are right even if it is through threats, nationlistic rhetoric or character assassination of any opposition.
Israel certainly has the right to exist, it is there and it will not go away even though it is a recent creation. History is full of such cases, we can call Belgium and The Lebanon creations as well. Israel also has the right to defend itself and it most certainly is under threat. In my article on my blogsite - just link above - I point out that the current regime in Israel is just as much a threat to the security of the country as outsiders, because its radicalism will cause it to become a Rogue State and when it does and the tap is turned-off from the US and Europe completely under embargos then the economy of Israel will die within months.
The reality is there but talking "Israel" in the negative is always hijacked politically and by well placed lobby groups. Such realities include the simple indesputable fact that there is more religious-based radical political parties within the make up of the coalition government of Israel then any other country except perhaps Somalia which we could argue is not a government.

Prof. Hans Jansen - On Stopping The Advance Of Islam
Prof. Dr. Hans Jansen is a Professor in Leiden, the Netherlands, and a specialist in political Islam.
He was Houtsma professor for Contemporary Islamic Thought in the Department of Arabic, Persian and Turkish at the University of Utrecht until his retirement in 2008.
The essay “De opmars van de islam” (“The advance of Islam”), was published in: Profetisch Perspectief, Volume 14, Spring 2009, Number 62, pp. 45-50; and on the Dutch website HoeiBoei, March 20, 2009.
And the testimony of El-Gohary, apostate from Islam to Christianity, upon the radically different bases of the two faiths:
http://www.compassdirect.org/english/country/egypt/20750/
“El-Gohary read the account of Jesus meeting the woman caught committing adultery,
“and the level of mercy that Jesus showed her transformed him, he said.
‘“Jesus said, ‘If anyone among you is without sin, then let him throw the first stone.’
"The amount of forgiveness and love in this story really opened my eyes to the nature of Christianity,” El-Gohary said. “The main law that Jesus talked about was loving God ‘with all your heart, soul and mind.’
‘The basis of Christianity is love and forgiveness, unlike Islam, where it is based on revenge, fighting and war.”
Who do we believe, ladies and gentlemen?
The idiotic Blootstellen, swearing black and blue that jihad terror has nothing to do with mainstream Islam, it's all the work of those dreadful Salafis and Wahabbis distorting a fundamentally peaceful religion? or the born-and-raised-a-Muslim, El-Gohary, telling us flatly that the basis of **Islam** (not 'Wahabbism', not 'Salafism', not this or that -ism, but just 'Islam', plain and simple) is "Revenge, fighting and war"?
Other apostates from Islam, such as Magdi Cristiano Allam, Wafa Sultan, Nonie Darwish, Mark Gabriel, Daniel Shayesteh, and Canon Dr Patrick Sookhdeo, author of 'Faith, Power and Territory' and 'Global Jihad', are equally blunt about the aggression that Islam has historically taught and practised and that it continues to teach and practise in many places today.
Blootstellen seriously wants us to believe that **Israel** is the same kind of thing as **Somalia**.
ROFLMAO.
George,
That GWB did his fair share of Dhimmi-ing, is an understatement. It is not hard to prove that Bush was nothing more than a spoilt, rich Saudi puppet, but that is another debate.
I won't lie.. I was all for Bush during the phony 'war-on-terror' and wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. However, it did not take me long to re-consider and when the court threw out case by 9/11 family, to freeze Saudi assets, only because Bush administration did not see any Saudi involvement, I could not take it any longer and re-visited Bush's relationship with SaudiArabia and Islam What I found was that Bush was a spoilt, spineless Saudi-puppet. And it was not just me... Wafa Sultan penned her concerns also: http://sheikyermami.com/2008/12/11/bush-empowers-islamic-terrorists-charges-wafa-sultan/
For those interested, there is a lot more to 9/11 POTUS's response to 9/11 but moving on, Obama is a known apologist. Add to that a muslim with illegal immigrant relatives and 'God D**n America' church, what do Americans expect? Finally, note Barry's Bow in my post above (Writing on the wall). But all that is academic, as the critical moment came and went when Bush drove a dagger in bleeding America's back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_ZoroJdVnA
I am not into school-yard bullying and twisting words. I refered to the religious make up of the Knesset, the words are there, what you wrote reflects yourself, nothing else.
As for Professor JJJ as he likes to be called on Evangelical Radio here in Holland - get the drift... is an example of how Universities world wide allow academics whom follow the education standards freedom to express their own views or those of the agenda that they have followed. I have no problem with that, he has been shot down many times for his out-of-class views and you will not find even his current University calling him "most esteemed contemporary scholars of Islam" as Spencer does. I can think of a few more professors and experts in my country way more respected than him and can do so academically and not on public radio. Mind you it shows, like his Evangelical links, that he likes to lower his standards by refering to a fringe blog site like dhimmiwatch because it praises him as such.
As for the remainder of your sources, it is like quoting your own book as sources justifying your own .... you guessed it ... book. Radical fringe dwellers tend to interbreed.
Oh, last point, if the object is attack, I do not play that game. I will respond to logical arguments and debate here or on my own blog. According to Robert's own rules - see below above the post line, such behaviour is not acceptable and rightly so.
Re your comment.
I think Dry Bones the cartoonist just about sums it up:
