The Department of Homeland Security is trying to deport the son of a Hamas founder who told of his conversion to Christianity and decade of spying for Israel in a New York Times best-seller."Son of Hamas" author Mosab Hassan Yousef revealed on a blog hosted by his publisher he is scheduled to appear June 30 before Immigration Judge Rico J. Bartolomei at the DHS Immigration Court in San Diego.
Yousef said the DHS informed him Feb. 23, 2009, he was barred from asylum in the U.S. because there were reasonable grounds for believing he was "a danger to the security of the United States" and "engaged in terrorist activity."
An incredulous Yousef said the U.S. government's belief he is a terrorist is based on a complete misinterpretation of passages of his book in which he describes his work as a counterterrorism agent for the Israeli internal intelligence service Shin Bet.
Yousef said he's not so much worried about himself as he is "outraged" about "a security system that is so primitive and naive that it endangers the lives of countless Americans."
"If Homeland Security cannot tell the difference between a terrorist and a man who spent his life fighting terrorism, how can they protect their own people?" he asked in his blog post.
Yousef said whatever Judge Bartolomei decides will be appealed, "and this insane merry-go-round can go on like that for decades."...

I read 'Son of Hamas' in one night.
There was something about the guy, something in his style, that lacked credibility....describing his Shin Bet handlers as his "buddies" just a couple of weeks after hoping to feign defection in order to kill them, was a bit weird. I don't know, maybe it's a cultural thing.
Having said that, I'm firmly convinced that Mosab Yusef is the real deal...a legitimate Muslim convert to Christianity who indeed saved countless lives. His perspective is so much more realistic than the powers-that-be. No doubt, he must be feeling pretty cynical as of late.
Now, I am a full supporter of Isreal, but who is this guy spying agaist? I assume the US. If that's true, even if it is for an ally he should face prosecution.

If DHS believed that he really posed a threat to the U.S., then they should arrest him and hold him so he can't plant bombs and kill Americans.

Foolster, there is absolutely no reason to believe that Yousef is spying against the U.S. If you read his book you'll understand that he was spying for Israel against Hamas. He came to the U.S. because he decided that he needed to speak out and expose the truth about Islam. We need more people like him. It would be beyond stupid to deport him and they will never prosecute him because there is no evidence of him doing anything wrong.
If the Obama admin want him out, he must be a good guy.

"Mosab Hassan Yousef " - I saw this guy once on a chat show, don't remember which, he sounded like the guys we want to keep. Obviously, some high powered political wrangling is going on about him. This is a big deal and we should all get behind Mosab. If this courageous young man's bid to avoid deportation fails, then SHAME on the Obama administration. I only pray that another country - one that isn't yet packed to the rafters with Muslim extremists - does the decent thing and steps in to offer him asylum if his bid fails. Maybe Switzerland, who've already banned the construction of more mosques despite not having much of a Muslim presence there. Or maybe Italy - they took in the Afghan apostate guy from a few years ago.
