Julia Gorin on the Ground Zero mosque and Kosovo: "What we did to Balkans Christianity when we joined the jihad against it on five fronts was the beginning of the end for all of us"

In "Ground Zero Mosque: Americans Get a Taste of Serbdom" at Republican Riot, June 13, Julia Gorin exposes some chickens that are coming home to roost in Kosovo, and that may soon be laying eggs at Ground Zero:

Last week I blogged about the radical Islam that, thanks to our interventions in the Balkans, has entrenched itself in Kosovo and is now proceeding according to plan. That is, targeting not the Christians whom we helped them target originally, but the ultimately intended victims: the area’s non-radicalized Muslims. I also mentioned the connection of this trend to the participation of Albanians on the Gaza Flotilla.

The very day that I posted these items, there was a new blog acknowledging the same problem — from none other than the Weekly Standard’s Stephen “Suleyman Ahmad al-Kosovi” Schwartz. Schwartz spent the 1990s making radicalization of the Balkans inevitable by shilling for the “national” interests of the nominal Muslims there — who surely would be immune to the radicals we were infesting the region with!

An excerpt:

From Kosovo to Gaza

BY Stephen Schwartz, June 9, 2010

Kosovo media have reported that an Islamist ideologue from that country, Fuad Ramiqi, was among the participants in the ill-fated attempt to break Israel's naval blockade at Gaza. Ramiqi was joined by three Albanian Muslims from Macedonia — Sami Emini, Jasmin Rexhepi, and Sead Asipi.

Fuad Ramiqi is the representative in Kosovo of the European Muslim Network, a fundamentalist organization…Ramiqi, a soldier in the Yugoslav army who joined the Bosnian army during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, runs his own Brotherhood franchise, the Muslim Forum of Kosovo (MFK), created in 2006.…

Late in May, local police rounded up five Wahhabis…in the environs of the Kosovo city of Prizren. The Islamist suspects included three Bosnian Muslims…and two Kosovars…According to a Bosnian Islamist web report, the police action was officially described as a response to an assault by the five Wahhabis on a Kosovo government employee who distributed the Bible to his neighbors during his off hours…Wahhabi attacks on individuals, including another Christian, have made headlines across Kosovo throughout the past two years.

Confrontations between Wahhabi intruders and local Muslims have been visible in all the Western Balkan countries, including Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Albania. The presence of three Macedonian Albanians at the scene of the Gaza bloodshed is unsurprising to observers of Islam in the Balkans, since Macedonian Muslims have succumbed almost totally to the influence of Arab money. The pattern of unwanted radical immigration into the Balkans continues. Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty last month reported…that Wahhabis have disrupted Islamic religious life in the resort town of Ulcinj, on the Montenegrin coast near the northern border of Albania…Leaders of the official and moderate Islamic religious community in the town complained to local media as well as RFE/RL that Wahhabis had threatened and physically attacked local imams, and invaded administrative meetings…

Mustafa Canka, a Muslim journalist from Ulcinj, blamed Islamic officials for “institutional weakness, idleness and neglect, based on personal interests and selfishness.” He described the local Muslims as afflicted by “disorientation, inadequate response to contemporary problems, and ignorance.”…He said the radicals now have many supporters, but that their influence will not endure. He repeated his criticism of local Muslim religious functionaries, who he said were trained in the local form of Islam and did not recognize the danger when they “opened the door wide” to radical newcomers. […]

In response to this Jewish Muslim and patron saint of Balkans Islam, Jim Jatras questioned why radical Islam only becomes a problem when the local Muslims start suffering from it — but not while we’re helping to put the local non-Muslims under the rule of the Muslims? Indeed, what we were doing to Balkans Christians while furthering the Muslim causes in the region was never of any concern to the shameless al-Kosovi Schwartz.

Jatras added:

What’s amazing is that he can peddle this swill to dumb-ass Americanos who will read it, nod their heads about all this worrying “Islamism” (imported, mind you) without ever asking:

1. How come nobody worries about importing “Islamism”…among non-Muslims — just Muslims?

2. Might this be less of a problem if the West (mainly the US) had not placed Muslims in political power in Bosnia and Kosovo, at the expense of their Christian neighbors?

3. [Weren’t] people like Mr Schwartz, now gravely warning of the “Islamist” danger, enthusiastic advocates of Item 2, above?

Even more richly, in a Tuesday debate about the Ground Zero mosque on “Russia Today,” Stephen Schwartz was listed as a moderate Muslim who has publicly voiced his opposition to the mosque. Opponents of the Ground Zero mosque view it as a sort of flag marking an area of conquest.

Ah. So as usual, it’s good for the Serbs but not good for Americans.

Because if the subject is monuments to conquest — and on sacred ground — please consider the countless statues, monuments and street names dotting the landscape of the conquered Serbian holy land of Kosovo — tributes to the killers of Serb civilians and Albanian “collaborators” who merely sold groceries to Serbs or were married to them. These fallen KLA “heroes” and fathers of a Muslim Albanian Kosovo are memorialized everywhere, along with international politicians who helped make it happen (streets are named after Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Bob Dole, Eliot Engel, Wesley Clark, George W. Bush, Madeleine Albright, Tony Blair, and ex-ambassador/CIA operative William Walker). [...]

If the Ground Zero mosque goes ahead, Americans will get the slightest sense of what it feels like to be a Serb living on Serbian land, occupied by one’s tormentors. Some might call it poetic justice. I call it the logical conclusion of Western policies in the Balkans, where the demise of the Free World was sealed by our own hand. What we did to Balkans Christianity when we joined the jihad against it on five fronts was the beginning of the end for all of us.

Indeed. Read it all.

Those who are truly "moderate" Muslims and want to foreclose the possiblity of their children or grandchildren ever becoming "immoderate" Muslims, and those who are merely "Muslims-for-identification-purposes-only" Muslims and have been alarmed by the appearance of Arabs aggressively, and even violently, bringing The Real Thing, have a possiblity: recognize that your own non-Muslim ancestors -- Serbs and Croats -- were forcibly converted to Islam by the Ottoman Turks, and by forcible conversion one naturally includes the cases of those who converted in order to avoid the pains of being non-Muslim dhimmis in a Muslim-run state. And once you have recognized that, make the choice to give up Islam. What, after all, does Islam mean for the mental and moral development of your own children? The Muslim Turks no longer rule; why continue in the faith imposed on your ancestors?

The model should be Emir Kusturica, who a few years ago had himself baptized in the Serbian Church because, he said, why should he stay with Islam just because, 250 years ago, some ancestor had been forcibly converted? To him it made no sense.

Why should it make sense to advanced, and therefore unenthusaistic and largely unobservant, Muslims in the Balkans today. No need to stick with it. Why be loyal to a totalitarian belief-system, instead of being loyal to one's ancestors -- the ones who came before those who were forcibly converted?

Speaking of Ground Zero and 9/11... Get a load of this: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/greenhouse/post/2010/06/obama-gulf-oil-spill-echoes-911/1

If Obama is reelected in 2012, I am moving. To where I don't know, but not here. I refuse to be associated with a country run by such an incredible imbecile.

This is a really good article, I've been saying this for at least 5 years now. It is really good to have someone of note actually say it in a larger public arena.

What was done to the Serbs in the late 90s was shameless.

*** 92:8 ***

The behavior of Western gubmints there was made possible by the fraudulent reporting carried out by the mainstream media. The lack of objectivity and truthfulness in their presentation, now as well as back then, can only lead to perverted policy. The grotesque progeny that our misadventure in the Balkans delivered is a deformed babe we now call Kosovo.

*** 8:39 ***

Look for this new nation to become a beach head of agression operating from Europe's underbelly.

Look for this new nation to become a beach head of agression operating from Europe's underbelly.

They already are. 65% of all the world's heroin (from Afghanistan) is channeled through Kosovo and 90% of all drugs that reach Europe are shipped via Kosovo.

Killing us from within.
And making a lot of money in the process...

Judeo-Christians shooting up so that they can nod off into dreamland and be able to forget about the Islamization taking place around them, at least temporarily.

*** 92:8 ***

We should start an office pool on which Western European nation will succumb to Sharia first. My money's on Belgium.

Truly clueless: Schwartz. Truly a bad idea: an independent Kosovo. Reason for both of the above: ignorance of the real nature of Islam.

And Hugh's right. Time for loads of Balkan Muslims to realize they and their ancestors have been had and so leaving Islam is the only way to go for those with pride, knowledge and guts.

I silently wept, when during the Russian involvement in Afghanistan the CIA aided and abetted Muslims, teaching them the valuable leson that a superpower could be defeated. It was obvious back then that the weaponry being supplied by the US administration would be used against it down the track. Years later one could only feel similar despair at the idiocy of the Clinton administration attacking a Christian people who, with the bonds of communism falling away and were showing the effects of centuries of trauma by Muslims, with the objective of re-installing Islamic rule in the Balkans where such rule had caused grievious psychic injury over the centuries. Returning to the Afghanistan monumental stupidity it just the administration either - a terrible disappointment came over me in 2007 to see the trailers for the Tom Hanks produced Charlie Wilson's War, a so-called comedy when it was depicting a story that was actually a tradgedy. I've never been able to watch a Hanks movie again after that. What will it take for the US to learn from history?

But it should always be kept in mind that the USSR was an evil totalitarian system itself (big time) and thus worthy of efforts to eradicate its expansionist designs, the finding of whatever allies the US could to accomplish this quite understandable. Ditto for siding with Stalin against Hitler during WWII.

Thus is the way of the world until all polities are democracies, which have an overwhelming tendency to work out their differences without resorting to martial conflict. Of course, as long as Islam prevails, true democracy in countries which are now majority Muslim will never occur.

The big picture here is that ANY totalitarian system is incapable of democracy, equality under the law and real liberty. This would include such warped systems of thought as Marxism, fascism and Islam. And, as such, the free world must sometimes makes allies with putridites in order to eliminate another putridity from the face of the earth. Welcome to Realpolitik.

Islam, being "eternal" and backed by a "God" is far more dangerous than any secular, earthly tyranny, whether communistic, fascistic or socialistic.

And has been since 622 A.D.

"Using" Islam to fight a less-threatening, non-"eternal" enemy was a fatal mistake.

Allowing it to "emigrate" into (AKA invade) the West is as deadly an error as the division between Christian kingdoms which allowed the rescued Holy Land, after the successful Crusades, to collapse into internecine disputes and collapse back into the clutches of the Mohammadens and that later permitted Constantinople to fall to the Muslim hordes.

If we had had any historical perspective we would have helped the soviets destroy the Afghani/Pakistani mujahideen.

And aided the Serbs in crushing resurgent Mohammadism in the Balkans.

Failure is not always and necessarily final. Not yet.

I refuse to believe that all is lost.

The future remains open: **unless** we choose despair, pointless self-flagellation and/ or vengefulness/ Schadenfreude, and the obstinate refusal to attempt either forgiveness (on the part of those injured, such as the Serbs) and repentance (on the part of those, such as the USA and certain others, who enabled Jihad against others through either malice or simple folly).

In New York City, Serb Christians - no matter what justified bitterness they may feel over America's folly in siding with Muslims in the Balkan War - should be in the forefront of the rallies against the 9/11 mosque. *No-one* who has escaped dhimmitude should ever wish for it to be inflicted upon another.

I would suggest that everyone who attends the New York anti-mosque rallies - whether atheist or religious, Christian of Eastern or Western communion, or Jew or Hindu or Buddhist or Sikh - should make a point of donating lavishly to the two churches , one representing Eastern Christendom, one representing Western Christendom, that are inextricably interlinked with the events of September 11 2001 - St Nicholas's Greek Orthodox Church, which was so close to the Towers that it was totally destroyed , and St Paul's Episcopal Chapel and graveyard, which - being a little further away - barely survived.

Here is what happened to St Nicholas's:

"On September 11th, the entire weight of World Trade Center Tower 2 came down on St. Nicholas Church, completely destroying the building and its contents. Only a handful of damaged icons and religious items were found amongst the rubble."

"Luckily, no one in the Church was hurt when the Towers collapsed.** The caretaker and an electrician managed to escape only minutes before the tragedy.(!!)**".

St Nicholas's had a Russian as well as a Greek connection:

"Among the church's most valuable physical possessions were some of the relics (remains) of St Nicholas, St Catherine, and St Sava, **which had been donated to the church by Nicholas II, the last czar of Russia.** {my emphasis - dda} These relics were removed from their safe on holy days for veneration; they were never recovered after the attack."

The St Nicholas's congregation desperately wish to rebuild - and, personally, I think they should have been permitted to rebuild *exactly* where their original church stood, as it is, I gather they have been pushed off to one side of the original site.

http://www.stnicholasnyc.com/

Those in America who feel grief for the harm done to Eastern Orthodox Christians, by the West, both recently in the Balkans and on other memorable occasions in the past where western Christians have betrayed their co-religionists rather than assist them against the Jihad, might make a first small, concrete step toward reconciliation, by chipping in to help this tiny Greek Orthodox church, that was wrecked right along with the Twin Towers, to rise again out of the ashes. It should be rebuilt bigger than it was - preferably with a bell-tower taller than the projected 9/11 mosque, and a good loud ring of bells.

There is also nothing to stop European, Australian, Canadian and American jihadwatchers from visiting the Serb and Macedonian and Greek and Bulgarian and Russian Orthodox Christians - and Copts, and Ethiopians, and Assyrian and Maronite Christians - at their churches in our countries, and letting them know, in a friendly way, that we have been learning about the sheer unadulterated hell that they endure and/ or endured, from Muslims, for century upon century, and that we will stand with them.

Why not visit a Serb church, if there is one in your neighbourhood, and light a candle, and look around to see if they have any information about charities that help needy Serb Christians, especially refugees from Kosovo?

Don't forget little Catholic East Timor. I cannot remember which US President gave Indonesia the green light to invade that country in order to prevent it from going communist. Strangely, while the US was throwing Christians ( even the Russians are Christians though they were supressed for a time ) to the lions, I mean to the Islamists, to prevent the spread of Communism, Communism seems to have seeped into the US in a big way spreading the wealth and taking over all the private industries. How did it happen ?

I couldn't agree more. When I first read that there would be a movie about Charlie Wilson, I thought it would be a very negative portrayal of him and the unintended consequences of helping the mujahadeen.

So, following Julia Gorin's line of argument- we should have let the late(and deservedly unlamented) Slobodan Milosevic "ethnically cleanse "Kosovo in his pursuit of a "Greater Serbia"??? Talk about what Americans term "Monday morning quarterbacking"!!!

Terry

Terry,

Milosevic never wanted to "ethnically cleanse Kosovo". Serbia was fighting against KLA terrorists (some of whom later plotted Fort Dix attack against the USA). Quite the opposite - 300,000 Serbs were ethnically cleansed from Kosovo in 1999.

Sadly, I was on the wrong side in the Balkan war. I thought that the Serbs were too brutal. Maybe they were at first. But hindsight has changed my mind. We have to oppose Islam everywhere we find it.

Wellington you are than supid idiot for beliveing that Democracies never war against each other, I bet your far rightwing treacher told you so.

Brava, Julia! Brava, Love!

You are a truth-telling heroine, pride of the Jewish race!

Love,

Ruslan.
