Does Iran have offical "stoners" or does Iran issue a "stoner summons" much like the western "jury summons" in which you must appear and carry out your role in the legal system...or does Iran just have plenty of stone throwing volunteers whenever the call arrives...?...

And *this* is how such cases will be decided—on the whim of some barbarian "judge", who feels "in his gut"—a "gut" which has been steeped in the savagery of Islam from its earliest days—that stoning some woman, even on little evidence, constitutes Islamic "justice".

Once again, I would urge everyone here to see "The Stoning of Soraya M". This is not a perfect film—it is clunky in places, and does not explicitly charge Islam itself as the basis of such horror—but it is a brave and principled film, and gives a very good sense of just how obscene the practice of stoning is.

The film—not surprisingly—is not for the faint of heart. But it gives a very good sense of the savagery we are facing.

"The Stoning of Soraya M." should be mandatory viewing in all public schools.

'Judge's intuition'. Could this be code for "guilty conscience"?

It appears this woman is a menace to society, a society of members of the Worship-the-Penis-Club in good standing. If these judges let her go there will be other women who might escape the fate of death-by-seeking-affection and these "men" can't have that. Their whole sexual house of cards would come crashing down if they ever admitted sex had anything to do with love and affection as opposed to control, subjugation and, torture as foreplay.

It's hard to see how Islam could be any more degraded than it already is.

'A deep hole is dug in the ground. A 30 year old lady, tied up from feet to shoulders, as a stick, is lowered alive into this hole, in a standing position. Only her neck and head are visible. Can you imagine a human head sticking above ground?

'When the order is given, a man throws a fist-sized stone at her protruding head. The stone hits her head with a thud. She screams in pain as the blood oozes down her face.

'Another man picks up a stone and scrap[e]s the side of her head drawing a lateral line of blood. She cries and screams in excruciating pain.

'Since it is a free for all, a teenage spectator from this open playing field, tries his luck, but misses her head completely. Another aims at her and flings it with force. The stone hits its intended target, her forehead.

'Blood spurting out, down her eyes, nose, cheeks, mouth and down to the ground. She cries out for mercy but to not avail.

'This time the blood comes down from inside and outside her nose. Probably, her nasal bridge-bone is broken, causing the bleeding from inside her nostrils as well.

'Though her wounds are grave, as you can imagine, her screems by now are not as vociferous as earlier, and her tears help to wash some of the blood on her cheeks. Her vision has completely gone with the blood coating.

'The next stone hits her again. A piece of flesh pops out. No, its not, oh god, it really can't be her eye-ball. It is so bloody that you cann't really make out.

'By this time, blood has covered her entire face and the ground in front of her.

'She still makes groaning sounds. More time pass. Stoning her, continues.

'Her sounds are less and less audible. Her face has become unrecognisable. Flesh, like mashed meat is her face, but only more bloody, as she now literally has no human face. Small strips of flesh, like locks of hair are hanging from her.

'Her head is now drooping forward. At this stage a hit on her make splashes of blood.

'She has stopped making a sound for the last two stone pelting.

'Two hours have passed. The Islamic authorities check her neck for pulse. It is still beating but barely, due to the loss of blood. A flesh piece drops off her head, as the stoning process continues.

'Finally,death comes to this lady.

'She is then left there for a few more hours for the spectators to see, because this is a public lesson for all muslim females, who commit adultery. {yes: and we know what 'adultery' may consist of; for all we know, this lady may have been raped; or she may have been sentenced to death on the basis of someone's febrile imagining or in the capital court of village gossip - dda}.

'Then her father and relatives are allowed to dig her body, and bring it above ground.

'Pieces of her flesh, lying on the ground, is collected and because she has no face, it is put back on the front of her head, and bundled up.

'Now readers, imagine that is your mother, or your daughter, or sister, or even you, yourself.

'DNA is not accepted in Islam, but at least 4 witnesses of reputable character, should give testimony of the actual penetration of the sexual intercourse to convict him.

'You might ask, who has sexual intercourse in front of 4 witnesses?

'I can also ask you "how can you consider 4 men watching others' sexual intercourse, as reputable characters?"

'But, there is no question or denying that this is not a traditonal, customary, cultural or a kangaroo court, but a legal Islamic court, with legal Islamic judges and legal expert Islamic officials, in the muslim state of Bakori ( Nigeria), of the legal Government, democratically elected by the Muslim citizens of this state.

'These are the undeniable authentic facts, which no amount of words or actions can ever repudiate.

Volume 8, Book 82, Number 809:
Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
A Jew and a Jewess were brought to Allah's Apostle on a charge of committing an illegal sexual intercourse. The Prophet asked them. "What is the legal punishment (for this sin) in your Book (Torah)?" They replied, "Our priests have innovated the punishment of blackening the faces with charcoal and Tajbiya." 'Abdullah bin Salam said, "O Allah's Apostle, tell them to bring the Torah." The Torah was brought, and then one of the Jews put his hand over the Divine Verse of the Rajam (stoning to death) and started reading what preceded and what followed it. On that, Ibn Salam said to the Jew, "Lift up your hand." Behold! The Divine Verse of the Rajam was under his hand. So Allah's Apostle [Muhammad] ordered that the two (sinners) be stoned to death, and so they were stoned. Ibn 'Umar added: So both of them were stoned at the Balat and I saw the Jew sheltering the Jewess.

Volume 8, Book 82, Number 813:
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:
When Ma'iz bin Malik came to the Prophet (in order to confess), the Prophet said to him, "Probably you have only kissed (the lady), or winked, or looked at her?" He said, "No, O Allah's Apostle!" The Prophet said, using no euphemism, "Did you have sexual intercourse with her?" The narrator added: At that, (i.e. after his confession) the Prophet [Muhammad] ordered that he be stoned (to death).

Volume 8, Book 82, Number 815:
Narrated Abu Huraira and Zaid bin Khalid:
While we were with the Prophet [Muhammad], a man stood up and said (to the Prophet), "I beseech you by Allah, that you should judge us according to Allah's Laws." Then the man's opponent who was wiser than him, got up saying (to Allah's Apostle) "Judge us according to Allah's Law and kindly allow me (to speak)." The Prophet said, "'Speak." He said, "My son was a laborer working for this man and he committed an illegal sexual intercourse with his wife, and I gave one-hundred sheep and a slave as a ransom for my son's sin. Then I asked a learned man about this case and he informed me that my son should receive one hundred lashes and be exiled for one year, and the man's wife should be stoned to death." The Prophet [Muhammad] said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I will judge you according to the Laws of Allah. Your one-hundred sheep and the slave are to be returned to you, and your son has to receive one-hundred lashes and be exiled for one year. O Unais! Go to the wife of this man, and if she confesses, then stone her to death." Unais went to her and she confessed. He then stoned her to death.

Volume 8, Book 82, Number 817:
[excerpt from long hadith]...Allah sent Muhammad with the Truth and revealed the Holy Book to him, and among what Allah revealed, was the Verse of the Rajam (the stoning of married person (male & female) who commits illegal sexual intercourse, and we did recite this Verse and understood and memorized it. Allah's Apostle [Muhammad] did carry out the punishment of stoning and so did we after him. I am afraid that after a long time has passed, somebody will say, 'By Allah, we do not find the Verse of the Rajam in Allah's Book,' and thus they will go astray by leaving an obligation which Allah has revealed. And the punishment of the Rajam is to be inflicted to any married person (male & female), who commits illegal sexual intercourse, if the required evidence is available or there is conception or confession...

Also from the wikipedia under adultery: "Punishing by stoning is not mentioned in the Quran, and is based solely upon hadith."

This is not precisely true. Stoning is mentioned in the Quran as a method of punishment or of killing, but Muslims are not explicitly instructed to use it as a method of punishment or killing. (Nor are they instructed not to use it). For that matter, many of the Quran's instructions to kill do not state explicitly which weapons or implements should be used. (Several verses imply the use of the sword in killing and punishing, such as 5:38, 5:33, 8:12, 47:4, but, according to my search of multiple translations, the word sword, or saif, is not explicitly mentioned in the Quran). Some verses suggest the Muslim may use anything in his power as weapons (8:60, 9:5). It is probably reasonable to suppose that any standard method of killing available in the historical context in which the Quran was revealed would be acceptable, unless stated otherwise in the Quran or Hadith, and as long as the killing is for an Islamically "just" cause (6:151, 17:32-33, 5:32).

Verse 17:32 calls adultery an abomination and an evil sin, and is immediately followed by a verse that prohibits killing except for a just cause. Yet there is no direct explicit instruction in the Quran to use stoning to kill adulterers.

Verse 24:2 is understood to refer to fornication or illegal sexual intercourse, though often translated as "adultery." The punishment there is for fornication, but not adultery. The distinction is made in the Hadith; adulterers are to be stoned to death, fornicators are to be flogged.

The Hadith and Sira make it clear that Muhammad ordered the death penalty by stoning as the punishment for adultery. Muhammad appealed to the Torah command of punishment of stoning to death for adultery, requiring that Jews also implement the penalty, not just Muslims. Note that the Quran itself appeals to extra-Quranic sources, (1) confirming the Torah and Gospel*, even in matters of killing; and (2) pointing to the importance of following Muhammad's orders (4:80, 7:157-158), example conduct (33:21), and al hikmah (the wisdom, e.g., see 3:164 and many others that refer to the Book/Scripture and the wisdom) which was to be gleaned from Muhammad's words and deeds.

*Apparently Muhammad didn't take to the "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" argument here, instead preferring the harsh injunction from the Torah which, as the Hadith and Sira suggest, the Jews themselves at the time weren't implementing, until Muhammad ordered them to implement it.

These are barbarians ruling Iran. They have failed to evolve into humans and yet we want dialogue with them over their nuclear ambitions. Wake up world and get rid of these sub-humans running this country.
