In Human Events yesterday I discussed the recent life sentences given to the father and brother of Aqsa Parvez. They murdered her for Islamic honor:
Muhammad Parvez and his son Waqas murdered Aqsa Parvez, Muhammad's daughter and Waqas's sister, on December 10, 2007, because she wasn't behaving the way a good Muslim girl should. Last Wednesday, a Canadian court gave them both life sentences for this honor killing. But what is being done to stop the next Islamic honor killing in North America? Next to nothing.The Koran commands women to "draw their veils over their bosoms" (24:31). While there are varying interpretations of this among Islamic authorities, Islamic traditions attributed to Muhammad amplify this to require that a woman should cover her head in public. Muhammad Parvez was determined to force Aqsa to do so, and to make sure she conformed to other Islamic norms as well. That she didn't, enraged him: "This is my insult. My community will say you have not been able to control your daughter. This is my insult. She is making me naked."
Aqsa ran away from home, telling friends that Muhammad Parvez had sworn on the Koran to murder her if she did so. But on that December day, Waqas brought Aqsa home from her school bus stop. Less than an hour later she was dead.
Muhammad Parvez clearly believed that by murdering his daughter he was doing the right thing from an Islamic standpoint. And he had abundant reason for getting that idea. A manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law. Syria in July 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but "the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour 'provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.'"
In Jordan in 2003, the Parliament voted down, specifically on Islamic grounds, a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."This is why honor killings keep happening -- because they are broadly tolerated, even encouraged, by Islamic teachings and attitudes. Yet no authorities are calling Islamic leaders to account for this. The life sentences given to Muhammad and Waqas Parvez give Muslim spokesmen in Canada and the United States a new opportunity to speak out. They have a new chance to acknowledge that Islam's shame/honor culture and devaluation of women has created communities in which abuse of women is accepted as normal. They could call for a searching reevaluation of the meaning and continued relevance of material from the Koran and Sunnah that devalues and dehumanizes women, and call in no uncertain terms for Muslims to reject explicitly and definitively the literal meaning of such texts. They could call for sweeping reform and reexamination of the status of women in Islam. They could call upon every mosque in the West to institute classes teaching against honor killing and directly challenging the teachings and assumptions that give it justification....
But they won't. Read it all.
That supremacist Islam condones and even promotes filicide is testament to it's utterly perverse and evil nature.

They won't because if they do, some other Moslem leaders will declare them apostates, making them targets for murder by any true-believing Moslem. Any would-be moderates are terrorized into keeping quiet in the same way, and by the same means, as girls are terrorized into wearing burkhas and accepting marriage to uncles. Terrorism is the heart of the Islamic darkness. Without the constant threat, and use, of terror, Islam would disintegrate.
Christians: Thou shalt not kill
Jews: Thou shalt not murder
Islam: Kill your mother, father, brother, sister, uncle or anyone who leaves Islam.
Kill the unbelievers. Kill da Jooozzz. Kill, kill, kill...

And how then is the father viewed by his brothers when he is sheltering an apostate, and can't or won't do anything about it? Soon the brothers in the mosque will start pressuring him...If he does not restore his honor and cover his nakedness, he will be shunned and possibly become a target himself...
Mahoundians like to claim that honor killings have nothing to do with Islam...But if Allah is the 'God' of the universe, liked claimed, he set things up this way because he 'wills' honor killings...If he did not will them, they would not happen...

That can happen when your neighbors are Muslims who follow the teachings of the Qur'an....
The Jewish Torah says thou shall not murder.
And the Christian Bible says thou shall not kill.
Two religions claiming to be monotheist but the third religion claiming this dignity the newest one on the block teaches from its god to kill the unbeleiver even your own family and Allah will be pleased.Hmmmm! Makes me think! Maybe the god of Islam is in truth the oppossiate of our

I call for a police investigation that her mother may have abetted in the killings. Who's with me?
We constantly hear that Muslima's wear these headscarves voluntarily and that they are proud to do so.
But here was one girl who refused and look where how she ended up. I think it's fair to suspect a lot of Muslima's are really forced to wear the headscarves. They certainly are in Iran and Saudi Arabia and many other Islamic countries.
I think for people knowing the facts by now Muslims have forfeited almost all trust in many of their intentions. They are highly untrustworthy in many respects. They must be told to start (re)building trust in them. Only I don't know how they can do it, short of apostasy.
l have a question, where the koran says a women needs to cover her bosom, how is a bosom a face? does bosom mean a face? just curious?

As veteran of the Second Wave feminist vanguard, the Women's Liberation Movement, I am always dismayed to see the amount of neutral-zone positions a lot of Third Wave feminists take. Its as though the baby-boomers Liberal-minded ambiguity has filtered right down into this generation of younger feminists. The "progressive open-mindedness" which accepts "diversity" is also inadvertently condoning certain patriarchal cultures' misogyny. Acting as if burquas are cool is identical to a 1970's (psuedo) feminist saying that the secret of keeping a man happy in a relationship is to discreetly keep building up his ego--- "men are just like little boys and we women are really the one's in power" This BS is maintatined regardless of whether his actions are negative or positive. This denial and minimization encourages him - the "powerless little boy" - to further oppress her and to perpetrate against other women. Missing the obvious is deadly and trying to avoid the truth by making up stupid rationalizations for game-playing just compounds the problem. islam's hatred of women is exemplified by the costumes of subjugation they are forced to wear under threat of punishment/death. I guess a sado-masochist or someone into fetishes could consider a symbol of death as being "sexy".
