That didn't take long: Somali jihadists issue ban on watching World Cup soccer, start killing to enforce it

Priorities: "Football descended from the old Christian cultures and our Islamic administration will never allow watching it. We are giving our last warning to the people."

Now, that's going to make a stable, prosperous society: killing the people who watch soccer. "Somali Islamists kill two football fans for watching World Cup matches," from the African Press Agency, June 13:

APA-Mogadishu-(Somalia) Islamist militants of the Hezbal Islam rebel group have killed two football fans and arrested ten others after attacking a house where fans were watching the World Cup game between Argentina and Nigeria in the Huruwaa neighborhood north-east of the capital Mogadishu on Saturday.

Residents say that heavily armed militants stormed a house where football fans were secretly watching the match, which has been prohibited in the Islamist-controlled regions in Somalia.

"Two young men who tried to jump over the wall were shot and killed while ten others including my husband and my teenage son were taken to Islamist custody in the village" Halima Ahmed, a mother of five children said in a telephone interview with APA on Sunday morning.

Islamist militia leader Sheikh Mohamed Abu Abdalla said that those in custody have broken the law and will be dealt with in accordance with Islamic law.

Prior to the World Cup opening, the Islamists in Somalia warned people against watching the matches, saying that it was not compatible with Islamic law and that those founding watching football will be brought before Islamic courts.

For that matter, they can't be fans of the vuvuzela horn that has been so popular at the South African games.

"Football descended from the old Christian cultures and our Islamic administration will never allow watching it. We are giving our last warning to the people," Sheikh Abu Yahya Al Iraqi said, while addressing crowds in the Suqa Holaha village north of Mogadishu, hours before the World Cup kick off on Friday.

Interesting name.

The president of the Somali Football Federation Said Mahmoud Nur who was reached for comment while in South Africa, declined to comment on the matter because of security reasons.

Meanwhile, residents in the southern Jubba regions have sent a complaint letter to the Al Shabab administration in the regions demanding permission to watch the world's largest sporting event.

Reports say that representatives from the community including elders went to the Al Shabab administrative office in the southern port town of Kismayo Saturday requesting permission to watch the World Cup, but they were denied and told that they will be arrested if they ever again come with such demands.

In 2006, the Islamic Courts Union who were then controlling most of Somalia banned watching the World Cup, describing football as a "satanic act" and as a result, two football fans were also killed and scores arrested in the city of Dhusamareeb in central Somalia when heavily armed militants raided a cinema where they were watching a World Cup game.

Many times in the past Muslims have killed people watching soccer matches on TV...Muslims have attacked children playing Soccer...and do you recall the violence the Muslims invoked when soccer balls imprinted with the flags of many nations was given to children?.....

Muslims go beserk when something other than Allah or Muhammad is paid attention to....

Football has always had its share of injuries and the occasional death among players, and of course, many deaths among arena spectators in after-game riots.

In Somalia, the Al Shabab government is doing its part to help those unfortunates not able to attend games in person to experience the thrill of real death at home.

Being a couch potato just got serious!

Ayaan Hirsi Ali shows us how horrible Islam is, because the contrast between sweet, clever, funny, courageous straight-talking Ayaan, and the murderous, narrow-minded life-hating fun-hating Al Shabaab thugs, shows us the contrast between a Somali liberated from Islam, and a Somali in the thrall of Islam.

Ayaan shows us what a Somali person is like when he or she **abandons Islam** and sets out to live and think as a free human being. It's like seeing someone resurrected from the dead; like seeing an eagle released from a small, cramped, dark, dirty cage, and soaring joyously in great sweeping circles toward the sun.

God bless and protect Ayaan - and all the other Somali apostates from Islam, wherever they are, whether in the West (there are some...our own 'Alaskan Infidel' has met some of them) or even within Somalia, living as members of the hidden church.

Somali Christians in Somalia - many of whom have suffered death rather than renounce Christ - are some of the bravest people on earth. They shine like stars in the dark, dark night.

What do you think of that incident in the earliest Muslim biography of Muhammad, where Muhammad ordered Kinana tortured, so that Kinana would reveal where Kinana's tribe's treasure was? According to the earliest Muslim biography (by the devout Muslim ibn Ishaq), a fire was then kindled on Kinana's chest with flint and steel until he was nearly dead. Then Muhammad had Kinana beheaded. What do you think of that, DustanH1?
