CAIRO - Al-Qaida's No. 2 has slammed France's push to ban the Islamic full-face veil and urged Muslim women to be "holy warriors" in the defense of their headdress against the "secular Western crusade" in a new audio message released Wednesday on militant websites.In the 47-minute recording, Ayman al-Zawahri said the drive by France and other European nations to ban the veil amounted to discrimination against Muslim women.
"Every single woman who defends her veil is a holy warrior ... in the face of the secular Western crusade," he said.
"France, with all its power and clout, can't touch the head-cover of a nun, but it can assault any face-veiled woman."
Al-Zawahri also urged Muslims in Europe to support their women in resisting the Western ban on the veil.
"We must call upon our girls, our sisters and our mothers to put on the veil. We must support them and defend them."
France, Belgium and Spain are debating legislation that would ban the veil. Other nations in Europe too have struggled to balance national identities with growing Muslim populations with cultural practices that clash with their own. [...]
And about Iraq he said:
"The Americans are leaving and the Mujahedden ... are the ones staying," he said....
And regarding the jihad attacks in the U.S. recently, he said:
"Leave our land and enjoy security in your countries," al-Zawahri said....
However, it is more likely that if Americans did leave Islamic lands, al-Zawahiri and others would find a new pretext and continue the jihad.
And he called for jihad in Yemen:
Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh, he said, was "ready to do anything to appease America.""Are you waiting for American soldiers to tour the streets of San'a in their tanks before you wage holy war against them?" He asked....
Look how important the women are to al-Zawahri. He knows that if they are free of the veil, they are free to buy bacon in the grocery stores, free to chat on the street with unmarried men, etc.
They mark their women with this veil business for the same reason they marked dhimmis, and the same reason Hitler marked the Jews and gays.
The only way to enforce inequality is to change the skin of the human.

Well, like, yeah. Nun's headscarfs (the clue is in the name) don't cover the face. That's the whole point here, being able to see the person's face is a security issue. And jihadis, bandits and bank-robbers know that, that's why they always cover their faces when abusing the rights of others.
Of course there are also those who like the faces of their victims to be hidden to lessen their own sense of guilt, perhaps Zawahri thinks of his women as gimps.
Those proposing such laws in the "free world" should make them more about ALL face coverings in public places - ski masks, commando balaclavas, crash helmets (when not riding a motorbike) etc. - burkas would still be included, but not be the primary issue. Making the burka the main issue only gives ammo to the jihadis and the pitiful emotional cripples of the dhimmitudinal left.

Good advice for any Muslim who cannot live in a Western country without covering his or her face. Go where the veil is welcomed. No one will stop you from leaving.

The head cover of a nun is akin to the hijab worn by Muslim women. It doesn't hide her face.

Big big problem with all this. Of the 1.5 billion Muslims a majority can neither read nor write as I hear. Even more don't actually understand the real message of their "religion". It actually becomes little more than superstition - much as all GENUINE religions - and I still classify myself as Christian at least from the moral standpoint. can still though think "cult".
Pretty well ALL todays' Muslims never actually had a choice in their religion and simply follow what the family insists. i was allowed to choose without parental interference. Bless my parents.

POSSIBLE that the allies' efforts in Afghanistan are making a difference but that is a small population compared to other Muslim lands. Why exactly aren't Western powers intervening in Somalia and even Zimbabwe (mainly "christian" - so far) but Islam provides rather more opportunities for rape and pillage - tis in "the holy book" and man's baser instincts often prevail so the book wins because it is "ordained" and the Word of God (or the Devil!) . As for scarves (not veils) Almost every woman in my first few years of life wore a headscarf particularly in winter and always in Church. Maybe they still do for Church (Catholic at least) but I no longer know.

As I recall, there was "not" security in our western countries and that was one of the prime motivations of invading their lands.
I think it all started in 1979, Nov. 4, in Tehran, Iran with the student revolts. The Islamic jihadists took advantage of this uprising against the Shah and succeeded in replacing his government with Sharia government under Ayatollah Khomeini. Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe that was the start of the quest for the New World Caliphate. The Muslim Brotherhood grew in popularity. Islamic countries began strictly enforcing sharia law where before it was almost non-existent. Jihadist groups like al-Qaeda (the base) began forming in Egypt (the assassination of Anwar Sadat in 1981) and elsewhere.
Iraq was a fraud, yes. It was mostly the oil that the British and U.S. oligarchy wanted. The allied forces got rid of one tyrant, in Saddam Hussein, and upon the removal of western forces, will replace it with a far worse tyrant.
For them to say, "Just leave our lands and live in peace", that is merely taqiyya. We know damned well that "the jihad against the west, and abroad" is not going to stop just because we leave Iraq and Afghanistan. It will continue until an Islamic Caliphate rules the world.
Then they will fight amongst themselves.
