Dearborn Mayor lies about Christians arrested for proselytizing

It's time to send a deluge of e-mails or calls to the Deaborn mayor and tell him that he is a bold face liar and a bigot. He and his ilk should be sued for blatant discrimination against Christians.

the intent to disrupt a local cultural festival and misrepresent facts in order to further their mission of raising funds through emotional response.

Uh huh...So these Christians with selfish motivations, show up at Mahoundian and gay festivals, pass out Christian literature, misrepresent facts, and accept donations from the admiring crowd who has such a collective emotional spasm, that they can't help but to throw money...Sounds like a winner...Where do I sign up?

Has anyone mentioned that Dearborn's Chief of Police is named Ronald Haddad?

Here is what I imagine happened:

CAIR Dood: mayor our precious arab fest is coming up and we don't want those Acts 17 people mucking up our festival again

mayor: yeah i know. we will do our best cair dood

CAIR Dood: yeah i know you will mayor. would be a shame if 40% of the voters voted for someone else because of Acts 17.

Kind of fitting immigrant muslims chose the city of Henry Ford for their new home.

Under attack?

What does does Mayor O'reilly mean in the use of such a dramatic term? what kind visions do you get from the term under attack?

I have read several articles on this as well as watched several videos that can be found on youtube.

Let's assume for discussion purposes everything that the mayor said was true, in my opinion none of it still rises to the level of being detained or arrested in anyway for the Apologetics 17 groups actions.

Nadeel says that the group contacted Chief Haddad and asked if they would be in violation of any city ordinances, or state laws if they passed out literature at such an event, Nadeel said the Chief said no. The group has gone to the trouble of looking very carefully at city ordinances that show they where in compliance with those guidelines when confronted by the Dearborn Police.

There are a couple of videos that have been put out where Muslims try to say Nadeel and David Wood are liars about any confrontations. They produced a video claiming that Woods had a confrontation in Chicago-- I watched the so-called evidence and it reflects no such thing. The only confrontations that was simply verbal come between private security or police and not any Muslims.

The real bottom line is why would there be any confrontation in the first place. Muslims are not forced to listen or accept Christian Literature and yet somehow the Mayor refers to Apologetic 17 attacking Islamic groups-- simply amazing!

The mayor using such overly dramatic terms such as "under attack" clearly reflects a combative behavior against this Christian Group and where he stands-- One thinks you would be calling out the National Guard with such aggressive and defining terms.

For years we have watched clashing and opposing groups mingle, and yell at each other over some polarizing issue but as long as there was no physical confrontation the police stand by.

The Dearborn mayor should be sued for defamation or libel. So should the Dearborn Police Department for violating Acts 17's first amendment rights.

Well, I just visited both sites. It appears that the four missionaries of Acts 17 are already being represented by the Thomas More Law Center. Great! May God give them victory!

Surely, if this issue goes to a court the mayer can loose more than the case against Nageen. That will be a great news for all of us.

The police people that arrested Negeen should also be sued for sexual harrassment for what they did to her and made her do at the police department.

The Mayor is correct over you racist. Durning than culture event outdoor the sidewalk are not public anymore untril the event ended. It is called crowd control to maintrain public safely. There are 5 christian group who follow thje rule who where handing out they papers in the correct area and two muslim group doing the same.I believe the federal court need to disband Act 17 as than orginlate for they illegal action of stirring up religious hater.

Had the festival been held on private property, the owners/organizers of the event would have had a legal right to evict anyone whose presence was unwanted.

Had missionaries shown up at a Jewish festival, there presence would have been equally unwelcome and provocative. Such festivals are usually held on the private grounds of a JCC or synagogue, however, and therefore a different legal standard applies.

This festival was held, however, on public property, and Mr. Nabeel and his friends apparently had every legal right to be there.

The city and police are obviousely wrong in their assessment of the "danger" presented by the Christian missionaries, and their assertions are so clearly disproven by the tape.

Something to consider: What is the legal side of taping people in a public event? I don't know if any legal questions are, or could be, at play there.

Regarding the person who made a comment on the police chief's surname of Haddad: Sarit Haddad, a Jewish Israeli, is one of Israel's most popular modern singers and entertainers. Haddad is simply an Arab name, and its bearer is usually not Muslim. Christians and Jews living in Arab lands usually have Arabic names that are specific to those communities and which identify them as members of either community, though the names themselves merely sound Arabic (and therefore "Muslim"?) to any Westerner who is unfamiliar with them.

Whatever the issues involved, it is clear that the authorities falsified information in order to get Nabeel and his friends out of the festival.

I think this Christian group has legal recourse here.

There is a prominent Michigan blogger, Ed Brayton, who blogs at Dispatches from the Culture Wars.  He often covers these news items, and he almost always takes the Muslim party line.  I'm sure some of the folks from here have their dog-eared Korans handy and can show how this Muslim harassment is every bit as religiously motivated as Richard Freshwater burning his students with a Tesla coil.  Straightening him out would at least take away another credulous repeater of taqiyya.

Have the Dearborn police released the Acts 17 Apologetics' camcorder and tape?

TM Law Center said they won the right to have a copy of the original tape. This would rectify a lot.

If anyone in that video is causing trouble, it's the red shirt guy making accusitory "when did you stop beating your wife" questions and outright making accusations of causing trouble. If anyone should have been possibly escorted out of the fair, it should have been HIM.

Furthermore, they evidently KNEW they were doing wrong, evdenced by their arrest 15 minutes before of Ms. Nageen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RTc575lhfA&feature=player_embedded) so there would be no video footage of the arrest.

Furthermore, the police officers refused to tell Ms. Nageen what the criminal complaint was against her. I ask that you do the right thing and apollogize to Acts 17 and the people you have mislead and admit that your first statements in your recorded press statement and letter were wrong, and arrest those police officers involved. Thank you.

Hey, folks, there's _more_. Thanks to a reader at my blog for the following _additional_ evidence of the mayor's lies. It just gets better and better. Wait until you see this--police reassuring Nabeel and David that they're "fine" after the police have already arrested Negeen (but Nabeel and David don't know that). David asks if they need to move, and the police tell them no, they're fine. The mayor says they deliberately blocked a tent entrance, deliberately violating the laws, to get arrested. The video totally contradicts this. How can the city keep this up?

I think it's all about money changing hands. Somebody should check the mayor's bank accounts, his family's also, a total investigation into the mayor financial situation.

I just want to say a couple of words about Kim and Champ. These tough ladies are attack-dogs to trolls here--and I mean that in the most respectful way. When they catch the scent of "troll," they pounce! They are fierce opposers of islam, they pull no punches, can play rough (like the enemy) and won't back-down. I'd want them in my foxhole in any battle--with Undaunted as Company Commander!

Thanks to the nature of our islamic enemy, there's a high sensitivity to trolls here. Sometimes even finely-tuned senses can yield
false-positives. But I think it's true that, "Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get us!"

The mayor is probably doing it for votes.

As long as the muslims can deliver a bloc of votes in return for dhimmitude, the mayor will pander.  He will do it even if it means spending lots of public money to pay off judgements for police abuses.  The only thing that matters is staying in office (which means [a] not being removed and [b] getting votes in the next election).  If the state police investigate him for conspiracy to violate civil rights, it might remove the muslims' cover and force them to act on their own behalf.  Then the mosques become vulnerable.

Imagine a bunch of Christians getting judgements against the mosques, and foreclosing on leins.  I think this would be both just and hilarious... and I'm an atheist!

Also, Ed Brayton is dissing the anti-Ground Zero mosque forces again.  Go fill his readers in about the people behind it, and Islamic theology.
