If only the facts weren't so inconvenient, and Islamic jihadists weren't still so active around the world. Not that the facts matter to these "civil liberties groups."

"It's based on generalized suspicion and fear on the part of law enforcement, not on individualized evidence of criminal activity."
Khera spoke in an interview on the eve of a Capitol Hill appearance by FBI Director Robert Mueller, who was scheduled to testify Wednesday to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
In a statement, the bureau said its procedures are designed to ensure that FBI probes don't zero in on anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion or the exercise of any other constitutional right....
Khera said the FBI has lowered the bar for sending undercover agents or informants into mosques and has enabled the gathering of data about Muslims' charitable giving practices, financial transactions and jobs....

Since when is it 'news' that law enforcement infiltrates 'suspicious' groups
Drop the word fear, and you have how law enforcement works...They are supposed to be suspicious...If they were not suspicious, only eye witness crimes would ever be prosecuted...Suspicion is what drives the criminal justice system. Suspicion of Mahoundians and the activities in mosques is a good thing, only there needs to be more of it...
If nothing else, Islam and Mahoundians certainly are suspicious...

The fact that muslims are hiding behind a religious designation doesn't change the fact that they pose a significant domestic threat and need to be watched, as do other supremacist groups. It's worth noting that the FBI doesn't seem to be watching Protestant/Catholic/Shinto/Hindhu/Jewish/Pagan/Agnostic/Atheist followers. Hey, maybe that's because those "Belief Systems" haven't expressed a goal to overthrow world governments and install their own sort of theocracy! Maybe it's because those groups don't demand that their adherents kill non-believers! Why are these muslims whinging anyway? All I can say is that "cockroaches run from the light".
Many good Americans have an FBI file. If anyone has ever applied for a government job, been in the US military, or applied for a security clearance, they probably have an FBI file. I bet Robert has one, too, but he certainly doesn't seem to feel persecuted by the FBI! By the same token, people who have criminal histories or a reasonable suspicion of significant criminal activity also probably have FBI files.
So, what's the difference in how these various groups view the FBI? Could it be that people like Spencer or other honest citizens have nothing to hide, while muslims and criminals routinely practice a doctrine of deception & subversion? Could part of the problem also be that American prisons are the largest recruiting grounds in this country for converts to islam? Let's look at it from the average, law-abiding, American's point of view...large numbers of people with criminal histories all get together and hang around with each other in a largely secretive society, following a system of belief that demands they kill, convert or enslave us.....you're damned right I want the FBI keeping a very close eye on you!!!!!
It's muslims' fault that islamic dress/symbols in any form has become synonymous with terrorism, hatred, and insane rage....just like it is white Southerners' fault that the Ku Klux Klan was allowed to subvert symbols of the Confederacy into symbols of racial hatred. Decent people in both of those groups failed to stand up, speak up, and put a stop to the hatred. No one ever said that freedom wasn't scary. You just need big balls or big ovaries to handle it. If you don't have the required anatomy, then leave our shores and leave them for good. But never, ever make the mistake of thinking that you will enslave us.
There is nothing wrong with initiating or maintaining surveillance on a group of people (with OR without criminal histories) who have declared the abolition of the American form of government and the institution of an onerous dictatorship to be their ultimate goal. I only wish that US taxpayers could earmark our tax payments for certain government agencies as opposed to simply putting it into the general fund. The FBI would definitely be one of the agencies I would choose to fund!
