Georgie Anne Geyer, known for decades for her anti-Israel and pro-Arab views, has come out with an article on the New York mosque that is not, as one might have expected it would be, a defense of the Ground Zero mosque as an inoffensive and innocent "free exercise of religion," but, she rightly senses, a depiction of the mosque as something more suspect and more worrisome.
She shows en passant that she continues to believe, or at least pays lip service to, the myth of Cordoba, that is, the myth of an Islamic Spain where Christians and Jews lived under benign Muslim overlords, a splendid example of "Convivencia" - and one presumably with implications for the brave-new-world we are allowing to be created, if we do nothing to halt it, in Western Europe.
But is this "convivencia" stuff true? Was Montgomery Watt, the Anglican clergyman who was, as his former student Ibn Warraq testifies, philo-Islamic because he had a horror mainly of atheism, correct in his depiction of Islamic Spain? And what about Maria Rosa Menocal, with her Ornament of the World? You can read about her at this site. Was Cordoba, was Islamic Spain itself, a place where "Muslims, Christians, and Jews" all lived in splendid harmony? Apparently the Christians didn't feel so, because otherwise why would they have spent 500 years in attempting to throw back the Muslim invaders? And what about the Jews, who had no army? Well, consider the most famous of those Jews -- there is a statute of him, by the way, in Cordoba, in the Juderia. What did Maimonides think of Cordoba, where he lived, as a place where under Muslim rule Muslims, Christians, and Jews lived in "harmony"? In his "Epistle to Yemen," Maimonides described his experience. The Jews were treated so well? If so, why did Maimonides denounce the hideous treatment of Jews by Muslims in Spain, and why did Christians tirelessly engage in the Reconquista over 500 years?
But other than that conventional unwisdom about Cordoba, Georgie Ann Geyer appears to have come, at least somewhat, to her senses. It will be interesting to see if she can ever drop her anti-Israel animus. She was offended, and rightly, by the display of arrogance and contempt for the feelings of non-Muslims, demonstrated by the not-quite-as-suave-as-necessary Muslim spokesman who appeared on television to attack those who question the motives, the funding, the goals, the everything, of those behind the Ground-Zero Mosque:
One organization is the Cordoba Initiative, which has a good reputation as an Islamic group that wants to meet with Christians in an atmosphere reminiscent of an Islamic "Y." (It is named after the liberal Islamic caliphate in Cordoba, Spain, ruling from the eighth to the 15th centuries, which respected Christians and Jews -- a good sign.)But no one has revealed where the $100 million for the mosque has come from, who is behind the idea, or who are the people leading the entire project. [...]
The so-named "spokesman" and "founder" for the Ground Zero Mosque initiative, interviewed on CNN, was far from courteously trying to convince other Americans of his group's good intentions. He was arrogant, smug and derisive of non-Muslim Americans. One came away from his interview feeling that he really wanted to, as the kids rather eloquently say, stick it to us.
Given these chasms of information -- and the attitude of the Muslims involved -- one can only be against this Ground Zero Mosque. The unequivocal fact is that the grounds where so many died so terribly is no place at this moment of history for any mosque....
And she ends her piece thus:
And here's perhaps the most important point. If the planners of this mosque, like the arrogant one on CNN, really consider themselves Americans, they would not bring up such an aberrant idea at such an emotional time, when the United States is fighting two wars against radical Islam, and when American Muslims remain a largely unknown quantity.Last weekend, for instance, a conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was scheduled to be held at the Dulles Expo Center near the capital, in Virginia, with 5,000 set to attend. The theme was: "Are Muslims required to obey non-Muslim governments?" The radical Hizb ut-Tahrir America (HTA) was also scheduled to hold a conference in Chicago earlier this month to hype the idea of spreading an Islamic state to the entire world, but it was suddenly canceled by the Marriott Oak Brook hotel for reasons unknown.
That these questions could even be asked among people who have taken citizenship oaths to defend the United States, and who enjoy all the benefits of this country, tells you that we must carefully observe the players to be sure we are playing with the same rules.
Keep in mind that there are few Christian churches, much less Jewish synagogues or other religious temples, anywhere in the Islamic world. Until Muslims are willing to provide for others, in countries where they are dominant, what they so arrogantly demand for themselves in the West, it would be the height of folly to allow such a dramatic and intrusive development as the Ground Zero Mosque.
But this note of "no one can say us nay" and "we are here to stay" and "we'll do what we want- if not right now, then soon enough, when our numbers and our power increase," is a theme that Muslims have been sounding for a long time, and quite deliberately. It is only recently that Infidels have noticed this theme, thanks to the Muslims' behavior toward non-Muslims all over the world. This behavior includes the many reported acts (and just how many similar acts do you think are never reported, that we never hear about?) of persecution and humiliation, and attacks on, and even murders of, non-Muslims in lands ruled by Muslims. It also includes the demands, each more outrageous than the next, for changes in the ways of life, in the laws and customs, of non-Muslim peoples and lands, into which - in a fit of nearly criminal negligence, Muslims in large numbers have been admitted and allowed to settle, by those who simply relied on pious assumptions about Islam. They had no real knowledge or understanding of either the ideology of the Total Belief-System of Islam, or of the goals of Jihad. It is only just now that many are prepared to listen carefully, and no longer to overlook such statements, and to begin to grasp how such attitudes arise naturally from the texts and tenets of Islam.
Take that Muslim "scholar" Tariq Ramadan. He is, in truth - see Frere Tariq by Caroline Fourest, which is now available in English -- a sly propagandist for Islam. He has had a chair specially endowed for him at Oxford by Arabs spending some of their oil-and-gas revenues. Oxford has done this to its shame and, one hopes, to its great and permanent dismay, once potential contributors, non-Arab and non-Muslim, find out about this bought-and-paid-for well-upholstered chair supplied to Tariq Ramadan. Listen closely to Tariq Ramadan. One of the things he keeps saying is the phrase: "It's over." Yes, he repeats it too: "It's over. It's over." What does he mean when he says that to opponents? He means that we Muslims are here, and what's more, there is nothing you can do about it, so don't even try to stop us in any way, and don't even think about halting our arrival, or dislodging us, or taking away the benefits we exploit or refusing to meet the demands that we make: "It's over. It's over."
This is a rhetorical weapon, the weapon of the triumphalist bully, attempting to demoralize Europeans into throwing up their hands in despair, and not being able to summon the will to halt Muslim immigration and then even to reverse it, through a series of intelligent, carefully-crafted, and perfectly-justified measures. No other group of immigrants poses anything like the implacable and permanent danger that Muslim immigrants so clearly pose to the political and legal institutions, the art, science, literature, freedoms, of the advanced West. That large-scale Muslim presence has created a situation for the indigenous non-Muslims (and for other, but non-Muslim, immigrants) that is far more unpleasant, expensive, and physically dangerous than would be the case without such a large-scale Muslim presence. No one should hearken to, though we all should listen to, the implied threats and menace underneath soft-spoken, but deeply sinister Tariq Ramadan with his "It's over. It's over."
One year ago, the city was buzzing when the newspapers published a letter by Bouchra Ismaili, a Rotterdam city councilman: "Listen up, crazy freaks, we're here to stay. You're the foreigners here, with Allah on my side I'm not afraid of anything. Take my advice: convert to Islam, and you will find peace."
It is not over. It is just now that people are educating themselves and waking up. Tariq Ramadan does not want that to even be considered as a possibility. He wants - and many other Muslims want - us to believe in historical inevitability, and in the inevitability of their triumph. This is exactly what Hitler and the Nazis believed; it is exactly what the Marxists believed. And it is, I'm afraid, present even among us, with those who obliquely invoke something called "History" as demanding this or requiring that, in that dangerous phrase that Obama likes to use: "getting on the right side of history." There is no "right side" of history. There is one damn thing after another, and some things are much more worrisome than other things, and require different kinds of analyses, a shouldering of different kinds of burdens. The historical inevitabilists, even in the weak or etiolated form of that "getting on the right side of history," are always dangerous, and especially so if they allow the tariq-ramadans of this world to keep the peoples of Western Europe from rousing themselves and admitting that over the past few decades they made colossal errors in their immigration policies, and in their domestic policies that have permitted, and even encouraged, Muslim colonies within the West to expand, and to do so at the expense - in every sense - of the indigenous non-Muslims.
But the halting of any growth in, and the peaceful, legal, and orderly reversal of the size of, the Muslim presence in Europe, is exactly what people are coming to understand has to be achieved. And achieved with or without the understanding, help, and support of the benighted American government, at least as presently constituted. (And Tariq Ramadan's suavity, by the way, can turn to hysteria in a New York minute, and I have seen or heard it happen repeatedly. In this respect he is like a great many of the seemingly smoothest Muslim propagandists, who when challenged by the well-prepared falls apart, and starts to rant, in tel qu'en lui-meme fashion.)
Listen carefully to Muslim rhetoric in this country and elsewhere in the West. It is always not-quite-what-it-seems-to-be: we hear, for example, the phrase "we are here to stay." What does that ambiguous phrase mean? Is that a rousing sign of loyalty to the American political and legal system? Or is it, rather, an aggressive and defiant expression -- we're here, we're not going anywhere, and we will do exactly as we please, in putting relentless pressure on the American legal and political system, on its educational system, on its social understandings, and will never give up, and don't think about trying to stop us -- because "we're here to stay" and the lands that, for now, you possess do not really belong to you, but belong to Allah and to the "best of peoples," that is, the Muslims. You have only temporary possession, perhaps not even a life estate; the fee simple belongs to us, the Umma, the people who received rightly the message, from the Seal of the Prophets, that Perfect Man (al-insan al-kamil), Muhammad. And while some Muslims say no Infidel laws should be obeyed, others, more prudent, think that for now such a demonstration would not be in Islam's best interests. They take a different tack: we will obey your silly manmade Infidel laws insofar as they either do not contradict any part of the Shari'a. And they then add, in a sub-rosa coda meant to be understood only by fellow Muslims: "and only because it makes more sense for now to temporarily do so, in the same spirit of Muhammad treating with the Meccans at Hudaibiyya, that is, insofar as our present relative weakness in the West requires that we temporarily must, in order to bide our time and fortify further our position."
Earlier in July there was a big furor in Great Britain about another planned mosque. There have been so many furors, so much anguish caused by Muslims all over as they conduct their campaign of conquest-from-within, one whose goals the less-prudent or more certain-of-triumph among them have not hidden:
DEFENCE chiefs are fighting plans to build a giant mosque overlooking Britain's top military academy. They claim the new centre poses a security threat to budding Army officers at world-famous Sandhurst. The building would have a huge dome and two 100ft minarets towering over the soldiers' parade ground.
The minarets will be sited within 400 yards of the Royal Military Academy in Surrey....
Campaign leader Alan Kirkland said: "A lot of people are questioning the size of the minarets which will overlook the whole of the academy."
Local MEP Nigel Farage said: "I am appalled at such an idea. Many fear it could pose a grave security risk."
A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "Sandhurst has put in an objection on the grounds of security."
Look at the comments by Muslims in any controversy, whether over this or that mosque, whether they are an affront to our sentiments, as with the Ground-Zero mosque, or a real threat to security, as with the mosque-and-minarets proposed to overlook the grounds of Sandhurst. You will find, once the slyly sweet-reason blague is not accepted at once, quite a different tone, one of triumphalism. A Jihad Watch poster ("dumbeldore's army") brought to my (and others') attention the comments that accompanied this article. "Dumbledore's Army" describes those comments thus:
There are plenty from native non-Muslims who have 'woken up' and are most alarmed and angry; but there are also some truly appalling remarks by obvious Mohammedan spin-doctors and brazen liars...as well as sneering Muslim triumphalists, boasting and taunting. The most telling of those is this one, by an identified Muslim, from which the sneering triumphalism blasts like heat from a furnace. I'm reproducing it here, because it's a classic of its kind.
"get over it. This is multicultural Britian in case you haven't noticed. Muslims are here to stay. If you don't like it, you should leave."
"There are not enough Mosques as it is.
"There are churches everywhere. We should be able to have just as many places to worship as all the other religions have."
"We have the right to do what ever our religion says"
"and there isn't a single thing you can do about it."
Think about that. It connects to Tariq Ramadan's "it's over. It's over." It connects to the predictions made by Houari Boumedienne, the ruler of Algeria, back in 1974, at the U.N., when he said that Europe would be conquered not through outright military conquest, but "through the wombs of our women." That triumphalist theme has been repeated by so many Muslim clerics, Muslim political figures, Muslim journalists, in the press, on the radio, on television - see that indispensable site, www.MEMRI.org, for many examples.
And you who come to this site often, are not surprised. You are not surprised, as perhaps Georgie Ann Geyer was surprised, at the arrogance and contempt shown by that Muslim spokesman on television:
The so-named "spokesman" and "founder" for the Ground Zero Mosque initiative, interviewed on CNN, was far from courteously trying to convince other Americans of his group's good intentions. He was arrogant, smug and derisive of non-Muslim Americans. One came away from his interview feeling that he really wanted to, as the kids rather eloquently say, stick it to us.
Nor are you surprised when you learn, from Geyer's same piece, that the Ahmadiya Muslims - yes, the so-called famously "moderate" Ahmadiya Muslims, who are even considered in Pakistan not to be real Muslims, so unorthodox are their beliefs said to be - held a meeting just outside Washington, D.C.:
Last weekend, for instance, a conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was scheduled to be held at the Dulles Expo Center near the capital, in Virginia, with 5,000 set to attend. The theme was: "Are Muslims required to obey non-Muslim governments?"
No, you know. But you have a task. You must make sure that everyone you know also knows what you have come, slowly, and with effort, to understand about the Total Belief-System of Islam, and that those others, in turn, having properly informed themselves, will begin to inform, and alarm, still others. Our government is not helping. Those who think they know better have so far proven that they are far behind many whom they presume to instruct and protect; they are not helping.
So it's up to you. It's all up to you.
And if you do not accept this task, in the United States, in Canada, in Australia, in the countries of Western Europe, then -- I'm afraid -- "it's over."
Islam will dominate - as the Buddhists of Central Asia found to their cost
"..But you have a task. You must make sure that everyone you know also knows.."

On the subject of the Sandhurst Mosque in the UK.
It is not going ahead; they have not got legal permission to build it.
Why? Because local people organised. Apparently, over 1000 people attended the Council Meeting which ended with the decision that this building would not get permission to be built.
Strangely absent from this meeting, or indeed campaign, was the presence of the Member of Parliament for this area (Camberley) , one Mr Michael Gove.
Even stranger when you consider that Michael Gove was the author of a very good book about Islam, published in the aftermath of the July 2005 bombings, “Celsius 7/7.”
It also seems that the mega-mosque planned for East London, next to the Olympic site is not going ahead (despite the fact that Ken Livingstone basically supported it).
Still it shows people power, rather than useless politicians, can make a difference.
Moshe ben Maimon's family had to flee Cordoba after massacres and forced conversions perpetrated by the Almohads. They fled to Morocco and lived in Fez, where the Jewish community had also been subjected to horrific massacres. To this day, an astonishingly large segment of the Fezzan population is of Jewish ancestry. The Fazzi, as they are called, tend to be quite wealthy and only marry among their own familes, and are still called "al Yahud" by their fellow Muslims, even though they have been Muslim for some nine centuries. It was at this time that Christianity disappeared from the Maghrebian lands of what are now Morocco and Algeria, having been subjected to complete annhilation at the Almohad's hands.
In several sources, Maimonides writes of the "Sons of Ishmael" having caused more suffering to the Jewish people than any other nation on Earth. He refers to Islam's founding father as a charlatan and deceiver.
Maimonides did, however, also believe that both Christianity and Islam (though heretical) were preparing humanity for a better future in the long run.
"It's Over. It's Over. We're Here. Get Used To It."
Damn Straight.
Triumphalism was much easier when Islam arose: There was no central authority at all in Arabia in Mohammad's time, and the Roamn Empire had collapsed, leaving a huge power vacuum. And when the Ottoman Empire arose, Europe was gripped by religious wars.
Now, all it takes is some smarts and a little guts to oppose a spent force that has been resuscitated by a confluence of lucky events: Oil, the internet and stupid immigration policies. But do we have what it takes to cap this latest gulf oil spill?
One came away from his interview feeling that he really wanted to, as the kids rather eloquently say, stick it to us.
...............
Yes, indeed. People—all sorts of people, people one would believe would *never* wake up, are waking up.
"It's over. It's over."
...............
It ain't over 'til it's over. It ain't over yet. To take another lesson—a truer one—from the idea of "Cordoba": how it must have seemed to the indigenous Spaniards of Spain during the long *centuries* of Muslim rule, that it was indeed "over".
But it wasn't over. Spain is no longer "Al-Andalus". The Spaniards *took it back*. There is no "tide of history" that cannot *be turned*.
Tariq Ramadan and his ilk *are wrong*. It's *not* over. Not yet.
"It's Over."
It won't be over until the last imam is hanged with the entrails of the last mufti. [to paraphrase Denis Diderot}
In the end it will be "over" for Islam.
For now it bears repeating,
"Our government is not helping. Those who think they know better have so far proven that they are far behind many whom they presume to instruct and protect; they are not helping.
So it's up to you. It's all up to you.
"Georgie Anne Geyer, known for decades for her anti-Israel (anti-Semitic) views." Georgie Anne Geyer may not be not far off from meeting her Maker, in a manner of speaking. Call me cynical. How many bigots attempt to repent of their life-long senseless and causeless hatred in their later years?
We have accepted the task, Hugh. We know there is no alternative. As difficult as it is, one of the things that makes this outrageous interruption of our enjoyment of our lives bearable is the thought of kicking Muslim thugs like Islamic Empire right out of this country on his sorry ass. Hope you're not a citizen, IE, because before this is over that is a privilege that will undoubtedly be stripped from many who share your attitude.
I assume the Cordoba spokesman on CNN referred to by Geyer was Rauf? (He has set off her internal alarm that tells her something is terribly wrong even if she can't completely identify it yet. She's off to a good start.) One of the most alarming things I've heard that slimer say is that America is already very much like Islam. I think he is referring to his advocacy of the strategy of Sharia-izing existing democracy, but there is something even more sinister about that conceit. What, essentially, is it about us that he thinks he can use to grease the door for Islam?
No, as you gravenimage quite rightly say so, yet is still a longchalk away. Ramadam &Co can ponder on this and other morsels of theological deliquency between their dawn and their dusk as the hour approaches. If I were them I'd cop-on or ship-out.
No, no. But at a certain point, the evidence about Islam, and the news of Muslim behavior all over the world -- that is the behavior of those who take the texts and tenets fully to heart, and are not willing to put off out of prudential calculations their heartfelt participation in the Jihad -- that is, the "struggle" to remove all obstacles to both the spread and then the dominance of Islam -- accumulates, and sticks in the craw of those whose anti-Israel animus might reflect 1) ignorance of the legal, moral and historic claims 2) ignorance, more generally, of the nature of the war being waged on Israel 3) ignorance of the history of Islamic conquest 4) antisemitism, of the milder variety that is fortunately curable -- see Colonel Meinertzhagen, see Tomas Masaryk (he describes this "self-curing' in his memoirs), see a great many others. Of course the unmild variety tends to distort one's entire perception of things, things seemingly far removed from the subject of Jews. Not surprising. Just as Muslims take all Infidels as the cause of their woe, with crazed conspiratorial results that we can all see for ourselves, so do antisemites in the West take Jews as the source of all their woe, and end up with quite the same mad conclusions. I allow myself to believe that whatever explains Georgie Anne Geyer's coverage of the Middle East in the past (all kinds of things can influence one's personal take), it is not antisemitism of the walt-buchanan variety. But perhaps I'm too hopeful. I tend to be far too sweet and trusting. Everyone tells me that.
Sandhurst should be concerned for its security if a mosque were to be built close by. Could Britain be awaking from its sleep?
Can you imagine this concern being raised by proximity of any other religious building near the academy [a cathedral, ashram, or synagogue for instance]? Only the ROP justifies this kind of concern, because Islam is not like any other major belief system that could be described as "religion".
Like everything else originating with Satan, Islam promotes violence, hatred, mayhem, fear, and oppression. Pray daily for the conversion of millions of muslims -- these people need help (all they know is their pathetic "religion") !
There is no such thing as a "moderate" Muslim. The Ahmaddiyas who are persecuted in Pakistan etc as infidels, are not immune to Islamo-fascism either. Way back in the 1920's, there was a Hindu religious leader in colonial India, called Swami Shradhanana, who was leafing a campaign called the "Shudhi movement" for the reconversion to Hinduism of millions of Myslims in India, mostly descendants of Hindus forcibly converted by Muslim invaders. He was stabbed to death in a courtroom, in plain view of the British judge and audience. His assassin was s young Ahmaddiya.
Off topic but important: typepad is acting very strangely. At first I am refused because my password is wrong: combined with my name or my email. When I ask a new password I receive an email but that is based on my relation with some provider I used a long time ago for a very short time.
And now, with no change ofpassword or anything else I find myself logged in but not with my shortname fransg I used before but with my full name.
More then annoying. Worries me.
On topic. A celebrated muhammedan blog in the Netherlands calls itself "wijblijvenhier" = "We stay here". In itself I don't see it as a threat but the fact that it is most unlikely that it's a coincidence that this name goes so well with the examples here is.
Hugh, in his third paragraph, mentions Maria Rosa Menocal and her book 'The Ornament of the World: How Muslims, Jews and Christians Created a culture of Tolerance in Medieval Spain'.
This paean of prejudice, taken as a serious work of scholarship by too many who should know better, is notable at least in its 2002 paperback edition for an embarrassing blurb from Christopher Hitchens taken from a March 2002 review he did in The Nation. He wrote:
"It was the Abbasid caliphs of Baghdad in the ninth and tenth centuries who sponsored the translation of the whole corpus of Greek philosophy into Arabic, thus preserving it from the ban on philosophy that had been imposed by the first Christian emperors. It was the Arab-Andalusian scholar Averroës, known also as Ibn Rushd, who later, in the twelfth century, made his commentaries on Aristotle available to the Latin-speaking world, where they were yet again banned by the Church fathers before finally being recovered by Europe. So it is no exaggeration to say that what we presumptuously call 'Western' culture is owed in large measure to the Andalusian enlightenment."
http://www.thenation.com/article/god-squad
Hitchens, eventually seems to have severed his ties with that magazine, and may now wish, despite, or perhaps because of the severe medical situation he now finds himself in, to more dispassionately reconsider what he wrote there, driven as it was into error by his extreme animus against all things Christian.
He has already made up much ground post 9/11 and his eloquent defences of free speech (on Youtube for example) against the Islamic onslaught show that he does not lack the courage.
"Now, all it takes is some smarts and a little guts to oppose a spent force that has been resuscitated by a confluence of lucky events: Oil, the internet and stupid immigration policies."
That may be all it takes, but that is still more than Obama and his mob in Congress have to give. [Not that Bush and most of the Republicans were much better.]
In regard to oil, our "leaders" refuse action both to increase the domestic supply, and to reduce consumption. Huge areas, both on- and off-shore, have been declared off-limits to oil exploration and extraction. More areas are currently being closed off -- just last April, Obama signed orders declaring another 2 million acres of federal land in the West as National Monuments, making them off-limits. Clinton, in one of his last stabs in the American back, just before leaving office, likewise declared several million acres as NM's. Even all that is not enough for the "environmentalists" who are pushing legislation to declare tens of millions more acres as wilderness areas. On the consumption side of the equation, investment in electrified mass transit -- the only real means of reducing oil consumption -- has been held to a trickle, barely enough to perform maintenance on existing systems and replace worn-out equipment, for decades. Meanwhile, hundreds of billions have been lavished on new and expanded expressways, which only encourages more oil consumption, and thus more payments to OPEC, and thus more money available for the Islamic offensive in all its forms.
On the immigration front, the proposed reforms would only make matters worse. What is needed is a return to the policies of the '50's and early '60's, but no one is proposing that. Instead we're offered mere tweaks of the existing arrangements, which have flooded the country with millions of 3rd world freeloaders at best, and thousands of terrorists at worst. Thanks, Teddy Kennedy, we really needed that.
As far as the internet goes, so far it's been an improvement. After all, JW, ROP, Atlas Shrugs, American Thinker, et al are available thanks to the internet. Of course, the Left is busy trying to silence its critics on the internet. We must remain vigilant.
Muslims are here, shariat courts are here, mainstream banks are offering Islamic bonds, 16 year olds are wearing the burka by choice - ofcourse they are here - and to stay.
When muslims start to come into a certain area - rather than bothering to integrate, the non-muslims (particularily the English begin to move out).
So anyway the muslim brothers drive the taxis band together to buy a house , and then another and then a shop. Obvioulsy Allah has to be thanked for these gifts , so then a mosque is build by the locals contribution.
This in turn prompts more English to leave and move into the "posh" area of the town.
The more posh muslims also want to live in these posh areas leaving the English being squeezed.
Honestly I can see a time when in most cities the English will live together like the pips in an orange, in a central area surrounded by us muslims pleading with you guys to engage with us at all levels - schools, faith, shop areas, choosing a muslim-son-in-law for your daughters, learning more about our faith etc.
I'm afraid you have chosen to "keep us at bay" and join forces with Nick Griffin's descipible BNP or that other mob in Dudley the EDL in preference to joining us.
Still no matter, we are used to it, and we know how to prevail - see Egypt, Lebonan, Sudan, Somalia, Turkey, India etc for examples.
I hope that we can be best of friends, that is my hope and wish, but lets see where we are when the fat lady sings.
Best regards - your next door neighbour Roland.
MBR -- I'm sure Hitchens has good reason other than his present medical condition to regret his previous comments and perhaps his ties with The Nation. (Any reason being good enough, one would think.) His more recent comments on Islam have been anything but conciliatory, and he's not the first one to have fallen for the whole Andalusian enlightenment mythos.
And I do hope no one intends to suggest that Hitchens needs to repent and find Christ now that he is ill. That would be condescending and presumptuous. I'm not saying anyone would, but then again some do.
That's the funniest post I have read in a long time, you should send 'Comedy Central' a sample of your comedic talents...You are one funny guy...
but lets see where we are when the fat lady sings.
Roland...didn't anyone tell you that the fat lady passed away in 1922...How long have you been waiting for her to sing?
Good points, Ebony. I would add a couple things, however.
On the internet front, while it's true that we have sites like this one, and Ali Sina'a Faith Freedom International and a few others, the internet has probably been a net win for Islamic propaganda. As Hugh has pointed out, many Muslims who have heretofore been only nominally faithful, are now being indoctrinated as never before via the internet with the real, toxic Islamic story.
Also, I don't buy the domestic energy story. I'm afraid we will eventually just have to seize the oil fields if we want to cut off the continuing wealth transfer to our enemies.
In any case, the real battle is ideological, one that must be fought to the finish.
"It's over." Yes, he repeats it too: "It's over. It's over."
Sounds like a Loverboy song.
Poor Roland, assuming the sale but missing the memo. Yeah, the Muslims thought they were in Granada to stay back in the early 1490's, too. They forgot about that chick-with-a-pair and her equally motivated husband, Isabella and Ferdinand. They gave the phrase "a clean sweep" a whole new meaning. ; )
You wrote "And I do hope no one intends to suggest that Hitchens needs to repent and find Christ now that he is ill. That would be condescending and presumptuous. I'm not saying anyone would, but then again some do."
You are quite right. On a personal note, three years ago I had the same condition as Hitchens but treated, successfully to date, with radiation, not chemo as for Hitchens. I felt no need to "find Christ" then or now, agnostic that I am.
But I will be the first to oppose those who bad-mouth Christians who prefer Christ as a role model, especially when those critics give a pass to those who take Mohammed as their model.
roland -- Long before it gets to the point where Western families are "choosing a muslim son-in-law for your daughters" I expect the British lads will have deported your sorry asses after a very unpleasant series of confrontations. At least I hope so. You may have noticed, by the way, that Western daughters are the ones who choose the sons-in-law. Unless they are complete morons they do not choose muslims. Of course since all you have to talk to is a houseful of fellow taxi drivers you might not be aware of this.
We have learned about your "faith". We know what you do in Egypt, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Turkey and all the rest of your sandlot hellholes. We should have been paying better attention so we would be able to do this the easy way. Now it looks more and more like it will have to be done the hard way. I'm sorry for whatever damage that may do to Britain. What it does to you and your miserable "brothers" I could not possibly care less.
...lol! :-D
"It is not over. It is just now that people are educating themselves and waking up."
Right, Hugh ...it is ANYTHING but over!
Not just attempting to demoralise.
Attempting to 'program', to hypnotise...to produce the paralysis of despair.
Malcolm Gladwell is a very useful populariser whose books contain some interesting things.
In both of his books ' Blink' and 'Tipping Point' I have found food for thought as I reflect on the predicament of the Islamowary, and on the slow progress of the Resistance.
In connection with the rhetoric employed by the likes of Tariq Ramadan - an approach I have mentally dubbed 'assuming the sale' - I encourage people to find 'Blink' - any public library should have it - and look for the chapter called 'The Locked Door'. In the section entitled 'primed for action' you will find a discussion of an experiment carried out by one John Bargh, Mark Chen and Lara Burrows, at New York State University.
One such experiment involves giving someone a sheet of paper with a bunch of scrambled-up sentences. The subject thinks their task is simply to unscramble the sentences. But each sentence in the group contains a 'cue' word: a word that, for example, will be associated by the subconscious with a topic or a behaviour pattern. All the cue words connect to the *same* topic. Bargh and co. found out that their subjects picked up on the 'cues' and - perceptibly - acted them out (e.g. if the 'cues' were all to do with old age, the subject would walk out of the room afterward perceptibly more slowly than they had done when they entered it; if the 'cues' were all to do with politeness, the subject - when accosted by an annoying person straight after having done the test - would be much more polite than usual; if the 'cues' were about cooperating, and the subjects who had done the 'test' [of course, not having been told that this was what they'd been soaking up] then played a board game, they would be noticeably more cooperative with one another.
Which in a way is merely demonstrating the obvious: that words have weight, words have extraordinary power.
Words and phrases we hear over and over can 'prime' our subconscious into certain moods, certain behaviours.
Muslims like Ramadan who in effect chant over and over 'submit! submit! Do not resist! It's over! There's nothing you can do!' are *deliberately* attempting to produce the state of paralysis that will *enable* their victory.
They are playing exactly the same game as, say, WWII's 'Tokyo Rose'.
And in this connection I would issue a caveat to some of our angrier, unhappier and more pessimistic posters.
Please, I beg you, be very, very careful about your use of any language that will reinforce that concept of a 'done deal'. Do *not* continually use words like 'will' and 'must' and 'can't', or phrases like 'X [aspect of Islamification] WILL happen', or 'France is done', or 'England is lost' - for if you say them over and over, you may *produce* the defeat that you think you are merely describing or predicting, when that defeat was not, in fact, necessary or inevitable at all...
I'm not asking people to be Pollyannas. But, please, beware... lest the one, or ten, or twenty people who read you, and *believe* (due to the 'priming' effect that Bargh and company discovered) that it *is* indeed 'all over', Europe is lost, England is lost, France is done, etc., proceed to...do nothing to stop that process, nothing to resist it, give up even before starting, because they have subliminally learned from *you* that there is nothing to be done (when in fact, if they had NOT despaired, they might have discovered that there were all kinds of things that they could do, and done them, and produced...a different outcome).
We know what is probably going to happen.
The problem for you is, we know what kind of cowards you are.
Not to mention inept.

----------------------------------------------------------
What if the arrival of sharia infested muslims was planned?
We could have gone on for 1000 years had muslims never been encouraged to settle into colonies here in the land of the Free. Foreign Aid would have flowed forever had the good People of World Charity Land never met the recipient's Curious Cultural Conundrums.
How would America see the world for what it really is if the world wasn't brought here for Examination. Mark my words muslim, you are being examined.
I submit that the attempt to defile America with the GZ Mosk is evidence of ineptness of grand arrogance. The main problem with no real command structure amongst the Ummah is that you have renegade groups who move ahead of greater plans (which would have been figured out anyways) with opportunistic Jihad ventures. The building was too good an opportunity to pass up I realize, but the consequence is a new plateau of Sharia awareness.
I submit that modernized muslims are utter cowards. Well, you know this anyways, that's why you need your enclaves. I submit that cloistered muslims are cowards. Avoiding non-islamic ideas is a coward's act.
We need you muslim. We surely do. We need you to show Americans what they are missing from their view of the world. This arrangement was inevitable.
What will start here will end in mecca. muslims by coming to America and keeping their slavery have come to the place that muhammad did not anticipate.... A true free people living under an ideal impossible to achieve, but nonetheless still within reach.... A world without evil.
You were brought here muslim... You were brought here to display that which opposes Life, Liberty, and definitely the pursuit of happiness. islam is on display here, and it's going to force those who hate Christianity and Judaism to choose with detached objectivity, finally, what is truly evil in this world.
islam brings a reckoning for the socialists. I blame it on muhammad. How could some stupid man ever envision that open ended Jihad would bring about the eventual destruction of islam? He couldn't. I can.
Of course the right side will win, that is to say reduce the threat to manageable proportions, and put the Muslim genie, demoralized as all get out, back in its little bottle, and it would not surprise me of numbers of non-Arab Muslims -- beginning with Iranians -- leave Islam, and it becomes more and more recognized as what Anwar Shaikh called it, "the Arab national religion."
But the question is: at what cost? At great cost, and with war in Western Europe, or with the reduction of Israel to an indefensible rump even smaller than what it now is, or perhaps disappearing altogether? And at what economic cost, given that three trillion dollars (I find Stiglitz and Blimes' calculations convincing, and the official figures put out by the American government -- which hide a great deal of the cost in the general Pentagon budget, and do not take into account many of the things Stiglitz and Blimes recognize as part of the cost) has already been spent or committed, thus making these "wars against terrorism" -- that is, these mostly ineffective wars against those who use terrorism as their preferred instrument of Jihad -- 3/4 as expensive as World War II (fought against the gigantic military might of Nazi Germany and militarist Japan, with all the resources that they commanded, not least from the countries they quickly conquered), and more expensive than all the other wars America has ever fought in, combined.
This is the direct result of those making policy being ignorant, irresponsible, and unimaginative. The squandering of resources has to stop, and strategies based on two things -- the first being a recognition of, and grim pleasure taken in, the pre-existing fissures (ethnic, sectarian, economic) that exist within the Camp of Islam, and the second, the recognition of the need to grasp, and openly discuss, with calm self-assurance, all the ways that the many failures.-- political, economic, social, intellectual, moral -- of Muslim states and societies, can be explained as a result of Islam itself.
I've repeated this several hundred times. I'll never tire of doing so. Why not? Oh, because it happens to be true.
A propos Muslim triumphalism, as described above by Hugh and as sensed, dimly, by Anne Geyer who does, after all, it appears, have the instincts necessary for a journalist, for she put her finger squarely not just on the Money Question (*how* are they funding this mosque? nobody's telling us who's stumping up) but on the arrogance of Mr Rauf who as she put it was 'arrogant, smug and derisive' and 'really wanted to...stick it to us'.
I will re-post, here, part of an assessment of Islam that appeared in the Israeli journal Ma'ariv on October 7 1955, written by a Dr A Carlebach who had clearly been exercising what Sir Joshua Reynolds once called "common observation and a plain understanding". Carlebach's analysis was - foolishly - quoted at length by Edward Said in 'The Question of Palestine' (Said obviously did not understand that to include it was to shoot himself in the foot), where it came to the attention of Hugh Fitzgerald, who posted it here on jihadwatch.
Anyway, here - preceded by part of Hugh's introduction - are the paragraphs that deal with Muslim psychology and behaviour (I will not reproduce the passages that deal with the political implications of *those*, for the predicament of the state of Israel). New readers at this site may find it useful. Who knows, maybe Ms Geyer may sneak in here, having heard her name being taken in vain, and may learn something from it.
"...Fortunately for us (said Mr Fitzgerald) [Edward] Said often provides quotes from various European and Zionist sources that are so deadly, so convincing, particularly in the light of all we have learned about Islam over the past few years, that as a work of propaganda it no longer serves its purpose.
"Here is what Said quoted from Carlebach, and what Said obviously thought was self-evidently absurd, but we read it now with quite a different frame of mind:
QUOTE 'These Arab Islamic countries do not suffer from poverty, or disease, or illiteracy, or exploitation; they only suffer from the worst of all plagues: Islam.
'Wherever Islamic psychology rules, there is the inevitable rule of despotism and criminal aggression.
‘The danger lies in Islamic psychology, which cannot integrate itself into the world of efficiency and progress,
'**that lives in a world of illusion, perturbed by attacks of inferiority complexes and megalomania** {my emphasis - dda}, lost in dreams of the holy sword.
‘The danger stems from the totalitarian conception of the world, the passion for murder deeply rooted in their blood, from the lack of logic, the easily inflamed brains, **the boasting** {my emphasis - dda}, and above all: the blasphemous disregard for all that is sacred to the civilized world...their reactions -- to anything -- have nothing to do with good sense.
'They are all emotion, unbalanced, instantaneous, senseless. It is always the lunatic that speaks from their throat.
'You can talk 'business' with everyone, and even with the devil. But not with Allah...
'This is what every grain in this country [i.e. Israel] shouts.
'There were many great cultures here, and invaders of all kinds. All of them -- even the Crusaders -- left signs of culture and blossoming.
'But on the path of Islam, even the trees have died.'...".
'Megalomania'. 'Boasting'.
Poster 'Roland', above, by his contribution in this very thread chose to give us a very ample illustration (or should we regard it as a specimen for clinical purposes?) of the points made by Ms Geyer, by Mr Fitzgerald, and by Dr Carlebach.
Post scriptum:
I would urge Israeli readers to track down, perhaps in a municipal or university library, the relevant back issue of Ma'ariv - 7 October 1955 - to find the entire article by Dr A Carlebach; and if you could possibly make a digital copy thereof (is it in English or in Hebrew? or both?) and send it to Mr Spencer or Mr Fitzgerald, we would all be most obliged.
Muslims like Ramadan who in effect chant over and over 'submit! submit! Do not resist! It's over! There's nothing you can do!' are *deliberately* attempting to produce the state of paralysis that will *enable* their victory.
Let us not forget that Ramadan's tactics do not proceed in a vacuum, but are enabled by two factors:
1) PC MC (Western gullibility)
2) Muslim terror.
#1 tends to ensure Ramadan's plausible deniability -- to that extent, he remains the "Good Cop" disconnected from the "extremists" who are engaging in violence: indeed, not only disconnected, but perceived to be of positive use to us as we flounder around seeking ways to protect ourselves from Muslim terrorism.
#2, meanwhile, through the slow stillicide and attrition of the tension & trauma caused by terror attacks, Ramadan's audience is further weakened and willing to give in to the mirage of the fait accompli.
New York jihadwatchers (in particular).
Do write to Ms Geyers. Praise her for what she got right. Urge her to keep her nose to the 'Money Trail' re. this mosque. Any journalist worth their salt - and his or her editor - would be yelping down that trail in full cry, in hopes of Scoops and Exposes and Startling Revelations and, just possibly, Pulitzer Prizes.
And tell her that her instincts about Mr Rauf's arrogance, smugness and derision are correct; that she's reading him right. Tell her to trust her gut. He's an insufferably arrogant, sadistic b*st*rd; because that's what Islam teaches him to be. He's been told he's one of the 'best of people' - and that non-Muslims are 'the worst of creatures' - since before he could walk; he's all puffed up, 'high' on his own and Islam's imaginary superiority. Time his bubble was pricked.
If Ms Geyer finds that her assessment of Mr Rauf is shared by many, many rational and intelligently-spoken others, then she may be even quicker to switch on her BS detectors the *next* time she encounters a Muslim snake-oil salesman.
Arabia is desert because of islam. The waters will return to Arabia when Satan has departed mecca.
Swami,
I would not take Roland like people and Roland like mindset lightly. As has been discussed elsewhere on this site, that mindset, so incomprehensible to free minded non-Muslims, is very real and a very real threat.
Every right thinking non-Muslim should start preparing for a showdown with these people.
Sanjay
Thanks for your comments, jewdog.
I must admit it that I think it unlikely that we'll be able to do without oil imports altogether. But I do think we could reduce our imports drastically, thus de-funding both OPEC and Islamic terrorism, as well as helping our economy in general by keeping jobs in this country and reducing our balance of payments deficit.
At present we are consuming about 22 million bbl/day, of which we produce ca. 8 million bbl/day, import 3 or 4 million bbl/day from our NAFTA partners, and import 10 or 11 million bbl/day from overseas. If we could (1)reduce our consumption by 1 to 2 million/day, through better mileage or the substitution of electric transit for the private vehicle or air travel; (2) increase domestic production by 1 to 2 million bbl/day, whether from off-shore in Alaska, California, or the Gulf of Mexico, or on-shore in the Rockies or the Bakken formation; and (3) increase NAFTA imports by 1 to 2 million bbl/day; we could reduce our OPEC imports by ca. 5 million bbl/day, saving us $140 - 150 billion/year in payments to OPEC.
I must emphasize that I don't think this is any pipe-dream; it's completely do-able, if only we have the resolve.
Number (3), above is especially possible. Alberta is already stepping up its tar-sands oil production. And exploration in Saskatchewan shows it has potential to equal Alberta. [Although so far the enviro-leftists there are doing their best to stop any development, saying "we don't want to be another Alberta". This, from the poorest province in western Canada in reference to the richest.]
To expedite my proposals, I would suggest we begin imposing an import tariff on all non-NAFTA oil, starting at $5/bbl, and increasing by $1/bbl every year for the foreseeable future. Spread over our entire consumption, this would increase gas prices by about 6 cents/gallon the first year --hardly unbearable. And it would generate ca. $19 billion/yr to fund expansion and improvement of electric rapid transit, commuter rail, and inter-city rail.
Personally I would support a tariff of double or triple the amount I suggested, but I'm trying to stay with political possibility. At the daydreaming level, I can imagine technological improvements that make oil extraction from oil shale economically competitive. Were that to happen, we wouldn't need OPEC -- or even our NAFTA partners -- at all.
Every right thinking non-Muslim should start preparing for a showdown with these people.
That's what I'm doing, but like Frank Sinatra sang, 'I did it my way'...I do it my way... :)
A really interesting book to read is "Christian Martyrs in Muslim Spain" by Kenneth Baxter Wolf. If you can stomach all the apologies Wolf makes for the Muslims and his poo pooing the anti-dhimma bigotry and laws, you can glean some really interesting information about Cordoba during the Muslim rule.
This is a quote from
Eulogius, a Catholic priest living in 9th century Cordoba (it's almost like Eulogius is addressing Wolf)
You do not regard as provocation the destruction of churches, the hate directed towards the priests, and the fact that we pay a monthly tribute with great hardship? Death is more profitable for us than the laborious peril of such a deprived life . . . Who, among all the persecutors of the faithful, has assailed the church as cruelly as this abomination? Who has heaped up so much in subversion of the catholics as this unfortunate one? For no one of us may walk secure in their midst, no one is left in peace, no one may pass through their walls without being dishonored. Whenever the need for any ordinary thing compels us to go forth in public, when it is necessary to go out into the forum from our abodes for any household necessity, the moment they notice the symbols of our sacred order, they attack, as if madmen or fools, calling out derision; not to mention the daily mockery of children, for whom it is not enough to inflict verbal abuse and heap up shameful examples of scurrility, but who do not even refrain from pelting us with rocks from behind. Which reminds me of what they do as an insult to the holy sign. For when the psalmody schedule dictates that we give the signal to the faithful, and the approaching hour of prayer obliges us to make the customary indication, these liars, misled by superstition, listen intently to the clang of the reverberating metal and begin to exercise their tongues in every curse and obscenity. Therefore, not unsuitably are they cursed who, with such hate, direct their followers against the clergy. We are calumnied incessantly by them, and everywhere we suffer their ferocity for the sake of religion. Many of them judge us unworthy to touch their garments and curse to themselves if we approach too closely. They deem it pollution if we mix in any of their affairs.
Memoriale sanctorum 1.21 (PL 115:754-5; CSM 2:385-6). Cf., Indiculus luminosus 6-7 (PL 12 1:520-2; CSM 1:278-9)
Also, a layman named Alvaris wrote of an "unbearable tax" that weighed heavily on Christian necks, and about Muslims throwing rocks and dung at Christians during Christian funeral processions.
Indiculus luminosus 3 (PL 121:518 CSM 1:275)
Indiculus luminosus 6 (PL 121:521; CSM 1:278).
During their conquest of Cordoba, the Muslims destroyed all (or at least most, there is disagreement on this) of the churches except the Church of St. Vincent. Immediately, half of this church was appropriated for use by the conquering Muslim army. There were so many Arab immigrants to Cordoba in the first years following conquest, that only two generations later, the rest of the church was taken over by the Muslims. This was after "negotiations" (as if the Christians had any choice in the matter) where the Emir "graciously" promised that one of the churches outside the city that had previously been destroyed could be rebuilt. Not sure if it was or not, but less than 100 years later, another emir ordered all newly built churches destroyed (although not all of them were because the Muslim army was too busy elsewhere quashing the rebellions of those pesky Spaniards who didn't appreciate the peace harmony and enlightenment the Muslims had brought to Spain). Two emirs in row considered killing all of the Christian men in the city and selling all the women into slavery because a few Christians were blaspheming Islam and simply beheading them apparently wasn't enough of a deterrent to the remaining Christians.
roland's "resistance is futile" shtick is ludicrous.
On a side note, do you suppose "roland"—quite possibly a more bellicose version of the departed "Mr Barcode"—perversely named himself after the hero in "The Song of Roland"?
The hero and his uncle Charlemagne prevent the Muslim Saracens from driving north into France, and Islamiziing the whole of Europe. The tale is one of the first works in the vernacular in Europe, and was enormously influential in the development of the chanson and the later novel.
If so, I would like to turn that mockery around, and have "roland" realize the power of Western resistance to Islam.
This is a reply - specifically for the muslim creep called roland. We know you are there, we know that you cannot integrate, and we know that we will have to destroy you. You and your ilk do not wish for friendship, you wish only for conquest, and you have only survived as parasites in every country or land that you have infected. Roland, you and your ilk will be dead soon and it will be through your hand! You are an unwelcome neighbor and we will get rid of you. You might be here for the moment but it will not take too much effort to see that you are gone. Your platitudes for friendship means nothing roland, you are a liar, a thief, a rapist, and a murderer. Your time is nearly up, and when you and your ilk are gone human kind can concentrate on the real challenges that face us instead of being continually distracted by a stupid, violent, viscous, criminal, and evil group of child molesting rapists called muslims. Yes roland, you are here now but soon YOU WILL BE GONE!
Another brilliant article by Hugh and some very inteligent comments by the usual suspects. The question as to how we fight the Muslims on all fronts is a vexing problem. We have to fight the media, the governments, academia, ignorance of the general population, various bodies such as the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, Liberty and various NGO's amongst others. Those of us that are aware of the existential threat posed by the ROP seem to spend more time calling each other out, rather than fighting the good fight against the looming menace. There seems to be a lot of snobbery involved as well. There are political organisations in the UK who are only too well aware as to what is going on. The English Defence League and the BNP are the two major ones. Whether you like it or not the BNP is changing the way people view Islam and immigration generally. Currently it has about 20,000 paid up members and got one million votes at the last General Election despite everything the establishment could throw at it. This vote will rise as time goes on and more people of whatever stripe join the party. This tendency for what the establishment media call "the far right" to keep getting more votes and members is being replicated right across Europe. The question being posed here is "what is the attitude of sites such as this to the rise of these so-called Fascist, right wing parties". It is clear that a lot of people commenting on sites such as this talk a good fight, write a good fight but in effect do little else. They look with horror and disdain on those organisations that actually do go out onto the streets, who do fundraise, who challenge the establishment and who put thier lives, jobs and wellbeing on the line. Why ? Because they refuse to have anything to do with "the extreme right" that in their minds is totally tied up with anti-semitism -whereas in fact the real anti-semites are the Liberals, Marxists, Anarchists and Muslims. There are people of questionable views in all political parties (Galloway was a Labour MP) Livingstone is a closet anti-semite, Simon Hughes is an anti-semite and supporter of Islam. I bet if you took a good look at the Lib/Lab/Con MPs you would find many with questionable or even outright anti-semitic/racist views. But I bet a lot of people coming onto this site voted for these useless parasitical, treasonous parties without demure on the basis of thier being free from the taint of anti-semitism. In my view the only way we are going to beat Islam and the threat to the West generally is to build mass political parties within the existing increasingly ideologically hollowed out, rotten structure of the Western Democracies. This is the logic that underlines the rise of sites such as this - though it is never stated as such. How many times have I come across outrage, disgust and hatred against Islam and all its evil works. But the question has to be asked. What are you gonna do about it ? Put up or shut up.
You do make Islam sound like a plague or a case of malignant cancer. Was that your intention? Also, Islam has cost Central Asia a great deal, such as a normal life expectancy, economic development, and for most people basic literacy. Islam seems to cost more than almost any other faith, aside from those that pursue cannabalism.
How do we know that you are "straight"? Are you like those lovely truck drivers in Afghanistan who love their dancing "boys"? Just asking.
"Still no matter, we are used to it, and we know how to prevail - see Egypt, Lebonan, Sudan, Somalia, Turkey, India etc for examples."
Yes, when you prevail everything goes downhill fast. Is Somalia really something you wish to brag about? As for sixteen year old girls wearing the burka, they wear them far sooner than that my friend. Also, as for being willing. Would you like to see a woman actually try not wearing on in Somalia? Acid in the face, physical assaults, or the quite ordinary and accepted honor killing would come about in fairly short order. Also, have you reflected upon why you are so odious to your neighbors, whether Hindu, Jew, Buddhist, or Christian? That reaction arises whether one is in Thailand or India. Are you just unclean? This is not a matter of personal hygiene, just to clarify things for you.

don't accuse everyone here (remember, this place has been getting *100 000* unique readers *a day* of late! there are thousands more people lobbing in here and quietly reading over our shoulders, than ever take a nom de plume and step out onto the comments floor - hi, lurkers! we know you're there!) of doing nothing but talk.
Don't assume that everyone is doing nothing, because they don't necessarily choose to do what *you're* doing or support whichever party *you* support.
Remember: you're not just addressing your fellow Britons, here. You're addressing a *lot* of Yankees, as well as Australians, Canadians, Filipinos, Indians, Italians, Scandinavians, Germans, French, you-name-it. In each country the political 'scene' is different.
Each of us in our particular context does what we can.
Remember, too: people here don't necessarily *want* to go into detail about what they are doing, in terms of practical on-the-ground action. The less the Enemy (who is busy eavesdropping from behind the hedges, I am sure) knows about the specifics of what each person here is doing, the better. Let our hostile Muslim lurkers wonder about that! Let them worry! Let them stew and fret and imagine the worst!
Many, many people here are busy patiently, steadily, raising awareness: by leaflets and in conversation and by other means.
Many here donate to Mr Spencer's blog and/or to others, to keep the 'clearing house' of information and analysis up and humming.
Many donate regularly to Geert Wilders' defence fund.
Many of the Americans here present are - I am sure - now involved either with SIOA or with Brigitte Gabriel's ACT for America.
Many here *have* gone out on the street in rallies of different kinds, such as the big rally against the 9/11 mosque; at least one of the Australians here, being on the spot, was able to take part in a rally and street march conducted by Copts within Australia, protesting against (and thereby raising awareness about) Muslim persecution of Copts in Egypt, and a Canadian jihadwatcher took part in a big Copt protest rally in Canada. I think that sort of thing is going to happen more and more. One of our French posters took part in the 'sausage protest' in Paris, and reported on it afterwards.
One of the regulars here has been interviewed on Aussie TV on the subject of sharia finance.
And we are *all* watching our politicians (and aspiring politicians) and looking for people with potential.
Me, I have identified four people so far in the current Australian parliament who are clearly clued-up about Islam (they are all relatively young and ambitious) and I have done my best to further inform and to encourage them. It's called 'getting behind and pushing'. Also known as 'positive reinforcement'.
You get on with what you're doing and leave others to do what *they're* doing.
This article and all of the remarks by those who arrogantly crow "it's over" reminds me of a football game...a specific one...when Roger Staubach ( of America's team: Dallas Cowboys) threw the "Hail Mary" pass in the last few seconds of the game...which the other team (I can't recall who they were playing)...thought they had won. They thought the "fat lady had sung" but Staubach and Pearson proved them wrong with that touchdown pass.
There are always surprises that those who feel arrogantly superior do not expect and for which they are unprepared. Evil never wins the final battle.
"This article and all of the remarks by those who arrogantly crow "it's over"..."
The article itself does not endorse, and does not accept as a likely outcome, the statements, whether shrill or sweetly-sinister, that it offers for analysis, of Muslim triumphalism. That should be obvious.
What crap.
That mosque must be stopped. These people want to destroy our civilization, take us back to the seventh century.
Consider this:
Saudi Arabia, the center of the Islam, has now created a government-run SMS system, funded by the taxpayers, which keeps tabs on women. The SMS messages are automatically relayed to the husband so that he can figure out where his property has strayed. Women are legally classified as property in the Koran along with cattle, slaves- Saudi Arabia refuses to sign the anti-slavery conventions since Islam approves of slavery-, goats, and other goods that may be bought and traded. It is important in Islam, where a man can have many wives, cattle and goats, to know if his durable goods are on the loose.
I wonder if the Western leftist, anti-America, anti-Israel rabble are ready to allow their masters to receive SMS messages when they stray? If it's good enough for their Muslim heroes, I assume that it's good enough for them, too.

Common sense by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, about non-Muslim lands and Muslim immigration, without any need to use the word "Muslim" and offering a view presented, both directly and obliquely, many times previously, here. But when Ayaan Hirsi Ali makes the very same suggestions, given what might be called her "authenticity," then it is harder -- it becomes impossible -- for the usual dumb knee-jerking and knee-capping suspects, i soliti ignoti, to rebuff or refute or repudiate or refudiate her.

Hugh, you're the best!

Thanks for that link, KT.
If anyone else hasn't followed the link, I recommend that they go back and do so. The video is excellent.

I just read that report, at NER, a report originally published in Australia's main national newspaper. Ms Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who has visited Australia several times before (we love her!) is visiting again...**right in the middle of a fast-and-furious Aussie election campaign** in which the subject of Immigration and Asylum-Seeking, both legal and illegal, is one of the major issues.
Dear god I hope Ms Gillard and Mr Abbott and a slew of our other politicians, both those seeking re-election and those aspiring to office, will **pay attention to Ayaan Hirsi Ali's advice**.
I would feel much, much happier if I knew that both Ms Gillard and Mr Abbott had scheduled nice quiet private chats with Ms Hirsi Ali, to discuss the topic of Islam, Jihad, and Sharia, and the Defence of the West.
When O when will some bright person in my country think of asking her to address the National Press Club in Canberra?
And the *really* smart people would ask her to address a select gathering of all the key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander movers and shakers, especially those in media. Too many of them have been listening to the plausible nonsense of smiling Muslims, of late. They need a bracing description - delivered by a black person - of what it is like to be a little black school girl in Saudi Arabia and to be beaten by your Saudi Arab teacher (who is a fellow Muslim) and contemptuously sneered at and called 'abid', 'black-slave' (i.e. the Arabic equivalent of 'nigger'). I think Ayaan might be able to make them understand what Muslims *really* think about black people: namely, **inferior to Arab Muslims, and intended to be SLAVES**.
Now THAT was a vivid and admirable comment displaying just how fair and tolerant y'all are willing to be. The only thing I find shocking is that y'all make statements like this and then have the audacity to act SURPRISED when Muslims feel animosity toward y'all. But you know what? I LOVE IT!!! Lay aside the pretenses, call it what it is: a totally polarized battle of Good against Evil. Of Course we each feel like our side is good and each other the evil, but that's just how the human mind works.
Allah Bless America!!!
'Saudi Arabia refuses to sign the anti-slavery conventions since Islam approves of slavery'
-----
Not so. Slavery is 'illegal' in Saudi Arabia, having been abolished in 1962.
Note that I'm not saying it doesn't go on just as much as it has for the last couple of thousand years because it does. After all, Mohammed himself, the Perfect Man (al insane, al camel, or whatever the phrase is) was a slave owner. But under Saudi law, adopted I believe due to pressure from civilized countries, it is not allowed...
Apparently the law is even more blind in Saudi than at the Old Bailey!
Which behaviour is more disgusting - refusing to give up slavery, or promising to do so and then just carrying on?
Hi Roland, its nice to make your acquaintance; particularly in this particular scenario. You must feel lonely and abused as the Kuffar tend not to understand your point of view. Its a terrible thing to be misunderstood and vilified by those whom are intelectually and morally inferior to you. Though I must admit this only tends to happen to me when I have to discuss or comment on some of the comments posted by you.
Anyway here is something to cheer you up;
A Jewish man was riding on the subway reading a Middle East Arabic newspaper.
A friend of his, who happened to be riding in the same subway car, noticed and angrily called out, "Moshe, have you lost your mind?
"Why are you reading an Arabic newspaper?"
Moshe replied: "I used to read Jewish newspapers, but what did I find? Jews being persecuted worldwide , Israel being attacked, Jews disappearing through assimilation and intermarriage, Jews living in poverty. So I switched to the Arabic newspaper. Now what do I find? Jews own all the banks, Jews control the media, Jews are all rich and powerful, Jews rule the world.
"Ahhh... The Arabic news is so much better!".
And another

Reports say the stench from the thousands of bodies in Pakistan is unbearable. Police report that it's likely to get worse now that there are dead ones.
A Russian, a Cuban, an Englishman and a Pakistani are on a train.
The Russian takes out a bottle of his best vodka, drinks a bit and throws the rest off the train and says, "There's plenty more of that where I come from."
Everyone is impressed. The Cuban takes out one of the finest Havana cigars, takes one puff and throws it off the train and says, "There's plenty more of those where I come from."
Again everyone is rather impressed. So the Englishman stands up and throws the Pakistani off the train
Q: What book is shorter than "French Military Victories?"
A: Modern Islamic Inventions.
Before you protest, be aware that with more than a billion Muslims, the Islamic world barely garnered 3 Muslim Nobel Prize Laureates in the non-Peace categories while Jews, with one-third of one percent of the world population has more than 169.
Have a nice day.

Hi Dumblesdoresarmy,
I have no doubt that some of the people visiting and commenting on this site are active. These people have my admiration no matter what thier politics. My comments were not aimed at them as is apparent from what I said. Rather it is aimed at those who comment, whine and moan and then do nothing. Words are only powerful when backed up by action.
"Words are only powerful when backed up by action"
No.
Words are "powerful" in all kinds of ways, including the effect they may have on a single good reader. Why should one expect, or demand, or require "action" in the banal sense to follow upon a reading of "Anna Karenina" or "Ulysses" or "The Gift" or Hardy's "At Tea" for these works to be justified. They justify themselves.
The kinds of words you surely have in mind are words about the grimmest political matters. But those words, too, constitute an action, for providing a lucid explanation for something, or suggesting courses of action, are itself actions without which we are likely to get the sound, fury, expense, and nonsense, that characterizes a great deal of the squandering huffing-and-puffing that constitutes the American response, so far, to tbe menace of Islam and its adherents. And when words, furthermore, are carefully selected, and trained, and arranged on the battlefield of public opinion to be impossible to ignore and difficult to deny, they become even more obviously an act or as you would ahve it, an action.
When Thomas Paine wrote "Common Sense" and published it, anonymously, at the beginning of 1776, there was little sentiment for independence in the American colonies. But sx months later, in considerable part because of his book that sold in great quantities, certain ideas and even phrases entered into general currency and, without attention being given to the deliberately anonymous writer, they became part of the atmosphere, part of what people thought they themselves had come up with or understood right along. It was part of what "everyone knew" though few or none had known it before Paine published. He didn't care. It was the result that mattered.
Newsflash, to all Muslims. The United States is, and will always be "Christian Lands." Apologies to my Jewish friends, but you know who will protect you and who will eliminate you. Hundreds of millions in this country will die on their feet rather that live on their knees. No more mosques and no more Muslim immigration. Sorry, the gate is now closed.
...Just then Tom Paine himself came runnin' from across the field...
Great insight, grungyoldvan.
islam brings a reckoning for the socialists. I blame it on muhammad. How could some stupid man ever envision that open ended Jihad would bring about the eventual destruction of islam? He couldn't. I can.
Seventh century muhammad could never envision his world Jihad would be outflanked by freedom and constitutional liberties. He never saw such a thing coming in his day, because it did not yet exist. I too envision this battle between liberty and islam is their 'last days'. "It's over", but not yet. There is a long struggle ahead to come. Great post.
Thank you for the humor, imnokuffar. I do apologise to other readers for a rather primitive and nasty comment regarding "roland", the erstwhile muslim. However, many of us are trying to make the public aware of what the real situation on the ground is. This situation is recognized by the enemy who is now working overtime to limit the ability of the public to express themselves freely in the the open media. The true situation, however, is far worse and I know that the infiltration begins at the lowest levels. This means that we all need to express an opinion at the lowest levels of government - we can no longer shut our eyes and hope that democracy will work ... it cannot without informed participation. We must get involved with our own governance, otherwise all that our parents and fore-fathers have fought for will be lost. To those who think that this cannot happen I suggest you study Lebanon - a Christian majority was decimated by muslim over-population and muslim induced conflict, which made a basket-case out of one of the bread baskets of the Middle East. Indeed we see the first signs of own own cities succumbing to the malaise called islam with significant no-go regions for non-muslims and an inability of the police to control these regions. At present the police are hampered by the fools who make government policy and who believe that the best way to placate a rabid dog is to sate its appetite. But what happens when it gets hungry again? The best way to limit the ground that muslims can make is to deny them the opportunities that they can abuse, and this is best achievable by making our voices heard.
On a final note, and because I have personal experience with islamists who cannot be described as pleasant humans by any accord, I simply wish to inform "roland" that his favorite camel has run away and is pressing charges at the local society for protection against cruelty to camels. I believe the director is a relative of Moshe Dyan. Have a nice day roland.
A promise is a cloud; fulfillment is rain. ~Arabian Proverb
Hugh,
I was not meaning to imply that the article was endorsing, etc. any "outcome." I just meant that reading about what muslims think of the current situation....getting their 'mind' on matters of where they believe they stand as far as what is going to happen based on their numbers and how much is being given over, lost to them, etc....reminds me of the football game and that it isn't over until it's over and they will be surprised by the final outcome.
I hope my point is now clear.
When your grandfathers went to India and Africa - did they simply say " we are here and we say hello and we promise to live by your Ts & Cs and laws".
No they said that they knew better, had their own laws and imposed those over the locals.
They planted sweet williams and other English plants and brought over furniture from England so that it was "home from home".
Well guess what! we are doing the same - no more but no less. We too want to make it home from home; such that the only thing different from a modern city like Islamabad and Luton is the weather.
You can help in this building of our home with us (much like how so many hindoos did in India for the English) if you want or you can slow it down; but crucially you cannot stop it.
Despite the bluster and bravado displayed by some here "in the know" we are here to stay - and there is little you can do about this.
Like I said before, please help us, integrate with us, and continue to provide those grants to help us stand the magnificent mosques and faith schools and (Mashallah)in bringing to No. 1 the name of Muhammed of the newly born.
Indeed you are fortunate to live in a time of fundamental change within only 3 decades - Allah is indeed bountiful.
Whereas in previous generations we were mostly taxi drivers and butchers, now we are directors, and Lords, Lord Mayors and Land owners.
So what if the Dudley and Olympic mosques are not built! What about the Birmingham one, and the Sheffield one and the Winchester one etc - can you stop them all?
Come now, there is no need for antagonism; we are your friends and your children are learning Islamic studies in School. I appeal especially to the femme - don't waste your future or your fridays - it is not club day but Juma.
Re: MrsEener's comments about St. Eulogius of Cordoba's comments...
Tomorrow, July 27, is the feast day of four Cordoban martyrs whom Eulogius knew personally: the married couples Ss. Aurelius and Natalia Sabigota and Ss. Felix and Liliosa; and a monk who was visiting them, St. George. They were nominally arrested because Natalia and Liliosa refused to wear Muslim-style veils out on the street anymore. According to Eulogius' account -- during their trials, tortures, and eventual martyrdom, these five martyrs got themselves particularly beaten up just by asking why the Muslims were using compulsion in religion.
A lot of the other martyrs suffered fates that were equally ripped from today's headlines. In fact, Eulogius' Memoriale Sanctorum is three books' worth of martyrs getting killed by the "tolerant" Muslims. The local bishop at the beginning of the persecution, Reccafredus, thought that everything would get better if everybody just acted like good dhimmis. He was wrong. Eulogius himself managed just barely to finish his chronicles of the local martyrs while in prison, before being martyred himself. His feast is in January.
Martyrs of Cordoba, pray for us!
Sorry to interrupt your muslim wet-dream there, hummus-breath, but it's time to wake-up and do your taxi-shift...

the point I wanted to make was that UNLESS any poster here chooses to describe what he or she is doing, you won't and can't know what they are doing.
Just because everyone who comments here is not, day by day, week by week, giving a blow by blow description of whatever it is they're doing 'on the ground', doesn't automatically mean they're doing nothing! It just means that they don't talk about it.
You. don't. know. what. people. are. doing. outside of this forum. unless. they. tell. you.
And here's the other Great Unknown: besides the pool of named 'regulars' who discuss and analyse and criticise the Jihad News - and frequently brainstorm a whole range of ideas about Things To Do - there are the thousands and thousands of others who lob in here every day, of whose very *existence* and reactions we have no way of knowing, because they lurk and do not post. But we don't know what ideas they take away; or what they then choose to do, as a result of what they have learned! An idea flung off by a poster in Canada or Australia, in one of the brainstorming sessions that happen here, may catch the imagination of somebody in France, or New Zealand, or the Philippines, or India, and lead to social and political action that the original brainstormer may never even hear about.
In any case: this forum's primary purpose, so far as I can see, is to educate and inform by intelligently analyzing and discussing the day's Jihad News; and in so doing, it raises the alarm. It functions like the Horn-call of Buckland in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings - 'Awake! Fear! Fire! Foes! Awake!'.
And I think it's doing that quite well.

Why would we want to abandon our glorious, advanced civilization for the barbarism, savagery, and stagnation of dark ages Arabia?
It is no use reacting to Roland. He is just using the postings here as a vent for his seething supremacist impulse.
However, he has been and continues to be a good confirmation of just how much supremacism does seethe in Muslim minds and hearts.

Ah roland, roland. You must have slept through your history class... driving cab all night is very tiring. But Africa and India both sent the colonists packing. It will happen to yours too, probably sooner rather than later, and just maybe with less blood. But Allah needs blood, so maybe not. The era of colonialism is over, it's over. Go home.

"IMAM" BLOOMBERG'S SHARIA MOSQUE !
Mayor "Napoleon" Bloomberg and his backstabbing cronies must have a $tupendou$ rea$on which they can't reveal for wanting a sharia-hugging mosque near Ground Zero!
But the sharia "cobra" they're toying with can quickly grow its fangs and then say "Smile, you're on Candid Scimitar and will soon be buried in a scimitary, ha ha ha!" - proving that one good backstabbing deserves another!
God-haters and America-haters may not realize how high the collective temperature has now risen in the hearts of true American patriots - many of whom are now willing to die for America right here in America if they get pushed completely over the line!
Since the nation's headquarters for treason is the White House, readers can enjoy related material if they Google "Obama Avoids Bible Verses" & "Obama Supports Public Depravity" and also Google "Sandra Bernhard, Larry David, Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher, Sarah Silverman" in addition to Googling "Obama...destined to become a black-slavery avenger."
And by all means visit Googleland and type in "Government-Approved Illegals" and "Un-Americans Fight Franklin Graham."
I hope Mayor Bloomberg, dressed as Napoleon, will thoroughly enjoy his mosquerade party!
PS - Since Jane Fonda still loves leftist causes, here's a one-liner I penned during the Vietnam War era that the big Kansas City paper ran: "I'm not Fonda Jane; her Laosy remarks Hanoi me!"
PPS - Interestingly, many conservative evangelicals have lately given up belief in a "pretribulation rapture" (the 180-year-old, fringe-British-invented, escapist-and-thus-subversive theological aberration behind the rapture bestsellers by Lindsey, LaHaye etc.) and now believe they will be on earth, standing against evil, during at least a portion of Antichrist's diabolical reign. Widely read Google articles like "Pretrib Rapture - Hidden Facts," "Pretrib Rapture Secrecy" and "Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty" have helped to bring about this "pretrib" mutiny.

Excellent point, Dumbledore's Army—and one that cannot be reiterated frequently enough.
There must have been times, in the middle of the last century, when it seemed that Fascism—embraced by Germany and Italy, and with strong support in Britain and even the United States, was simply inevitable throughout the industrialized world.
This must have seemed even more the case in the dark early days of WWII, when the Nazis were cutting a swath across Europe. Yet just a few years later, the Axis was defeated, and there has not been a single fully-avowed Fascist country since.
One can draw similar lessons from Communism, which must have seemed all but inevitable on a global scale at one point.
Not so. There is no "Tide of History" that cannot be turned. The same is true of Islam.
Re: "But this note of "no one can say us nay" and "we are here to stay" and "we'll do what we want- if not right now, then soon enough, when our numbers and our power increase," is a theme that Muslims have been sounding for a long time, and quite deliberately."
Well, yes; that would be a "threat;" and a threat is used to induce perpetual, psychological FEAR in one's opponent (aka: "Terrorism").
Threats are Attacks, and attacks (except in Defense of other's initial attacks) are called "Crimes."
The Sandhurst Academy mosque - much as the New York one - WILL go ahead anyway, because in the West, we are all beholden to the Almighty D'Allah; we are all ruled by Salesmen.
These traders always have - and always WILL - sell us all out as they sell off all our traditions, disregarding our concerns - for mere Money.
"La ilaha il Moolah; Mammon Rasul Moolah."
All Salesmen advertise fear to sell us the 'greedy' relief from their own threats (pre-emptive attacks) all the time anyway; our so-called leaders are all old hands at the perpetual Terror game; "Why deny the muslims their crack (pardon the pun) at the American Dream?" is how they ever-rationalize & self-justify their grafty indulgences...all of which, of course, are at our expense.
"Sales Before Safety! Sales Before Sanity!" has long been their greed-creed motto; so why change things now?
Inertia and fear of change; worship of the business-as-usual status-quo, and of that same-old form over substance, image over reality, is what our own endless, treasonous concessions to the righteous irresponsibilities to the callow cult of "Hollywood Culture" have bought for us and for our children.
The defiantly, proudly indolent slacker-society has doomed itself to a whimpering death by ennui.
Islam awaits.

I agree Frans; I've been getting punked by Typepad EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to log in. It tells me my account doesn't exist. When I try to re-register using my email addy, it informs me someone (i.e: ME) already has that. Then I get them to send me a mew PW, which I promptly change back to my old one. Works OK for that day only. Repeat problem endlessly EVERY day! I wonder if they have muslim admins there (?) Ain't reverse-discrimination, impertinent category hiring quotas a blast? Could be soon if not now.

What is the source of your information regarding the story of that Swami? What's the proof that his assassin was Ahmadi?
This article struck a personal chord with me. I wrote my first letter to editor on the "peace process" in December of 1987, a few weeks after the start of the intifada, in response to an outrageous piece by the same Georgi Anne Geyer. "...putting full blame on Isreal for the Gaza riots, Khomeinism in Iran and the rise of Muslime fundamentalism throughout the Middle East, ( did she forget Mt. St. Helens?) he betrays her bias and ignorance..."
There is yet hope when this "rabidly anti-Israel columnist," my words in the letter, begins to see the danger of what we, and before us Israel, are up against.
