Iran backs down, won't stone "adulterous" mother -- but she is not safe yet

International pressure works. But the Sharia punishment for adultery is still in place. An update on this story. "Iran backs down: World fury forces Tehran to spare 'adulterous' mother from being stoned - but will they hang her instead?," by Wil Longbottom for the Daily Mail, July 9 (thanks to Alexandre):

A woman convicted of adultery has been spared execution by stoning after Iran backed down in the face of rising international outrage.
A statement issued by the Iranian embassy in London said that 'according to information from the relevant judicial authorities in Iran [Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani] will not be executed by stoning'.

But it did not say whether Ms Ashtiani, a mother-of-two, would be spared or executed by hanging instead....

Stoning is what Muhammad used to do. Stoning is what is practised in Somalia. Stoning is barbaric...thus islamic.

When Afghanistan blew up the Bamiyan Buddhas, international pressure did not work.
Here, in Iran, it seems to be working just to make people look the other way. As soon as they are able, they will kill Sakineh in some way or the other.

So, this mohammadan female is killed by the same religion she practices.

Someone, on another thread, mentioned classifying mohammadans as "activated" and "dormant" (I think that was the term) jihadists.

So, for argument's sake let's say this mohammadan female is spared. Chances are some human rights group will take up the cause to get her sent to some western country.

How long do you think it will take for this mohammadan female to become activated and start crying for special treatment like Friday's off, women only swimming pools and gyms with blacked-out windows, screaming when a blind person with a seeing-eye dog comes within a mile of her, demanding her children be taught in arabic or Farsi at PUBLIC schools, refusing to go through any kind of security check at courthouses or airports...etc., etc.

Sorry, but ever since the day I heard an idiot islamic revert, from Canada, declare that she would let mohammad marry her 10 year old daughter I have zero sympathy for mohammadan females who are harmed by the ideology that they participate in and defend.

I feel for them the same feeling I have for idiots who lose their arms or lives after sticking their hands through the bars of a tiger or lion cage.

This is a modicum of good news -- in an otherwise ghastly story. International pressure does work, but only partly. Iran is backing down on the stoning part, but will likely go ahead with execution by other means. And for what? For the so-called crime of adultery.

At this point, world outrage will likely subside. We are spared the horror of thinking about stoning; we are spared the horror of imagining this woman's terror and pain. But since she's been found "guilty" of a "crime" the world will back-off and let "justice" be done.

The root of the sickness, Islam, will still not have been addressed.

Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News was shocked, SHOCKED, to learn that stoning still occurs in Iran. He team called for the practice to be outlawed.

I do understand your point—and certainly share your concerns about Muslims in the West. But I still feel for this woman out of basic human sympathy. Not everyone born into Islam is evil, and the greatest victims of Islam are other Muslims—women, children, those deemed "insufficiently Islamic" for whatever reason.

There is another reason to protest this sort of savagery, though—and perhaps a more practical one from your point of view.

If the West does not protest against at least the gaudiest Islamic barbarities—and there are few things more barbaric than stoning—then it will *embolden Jihad and those who wish to impose Shari'ah on the rest of us, as well*.

Decent people cannot let this pass in silence. We have to stand up and say *this is wrong*. We have to point out the evils of Islam, for to let them play out in silence can be seen as our *condoning such evil*.

This would not only be wrong, it would weaken our resistance against such horrors being instituted in our own societies—which is exactly what would happen under the imposition of full Shari'ah.

Interesting side issue. Friday a.m.. An "exiled" and "well known" UK resident Iranian female journalist was interviewed on BBC radio 4 Today programme.
The interviewer introduced her but without stating her name "for obvious reasons". Didn't say what those reasons were of course. I know, you know, everyone on here knows. Only some Radio 4 listeners will know. This is dhimmitude and PCism to the extreme.
The lady explained that yes the barbaric stoning has been avoided but the woman will likely be hanged in a barbaric fashion. Shen then explained. In Iran hanging is achieved not with a trapdoor but by hauling the victim off the ground and just suspending them. Death can be long and painful.

A ideology is a ideology if this woman would have been a virgin she would need to be rape as in islam you are not allowd to kill virgins. In the jails they are special guards for this job to rape underage girls before being killd to be rigth according to islamic law. Its not because you cover a fish with newspaper that it wont smell later. Now dont stone this woman start building churches and temples and leave the monorities to live normaly.And maybe we can talk and also rip a few pages from the koran and the adis and sunas. I mean correct gods word as they arent rigth according to human morals and then we could accept it.
