Attempting to attack U.S. bases -- showing yet again the smashing success of Obama's policy of conciliation toward Iran. Read more about that in The Post-American Presidency. "Iran supports three insurgent groups in Iraq: US general," from AFP, July 22 (thanks to Mackie):
WASHINGTON -- Iran is supporting three Shiite extremist groups in Iraq that have been attempting to attack US bases, General Ray Odierno, the top US commander in Iraq, said Wednesday. For the past four years the US military has blamed Iran for supporting violent anti-US groups operating in Iraq, but has been unable to establish a clear link with the government in Tehran.
"The Iranians... continue to fund, train and provide weapons and ammunition to Shiite extremist groups," Odierno told reporters here.
The Iranians have "gone to a more sophisticated program with a smaller set of extremists" and are now focusing on three groups, which he identified as Ketaib Hezbollah, Asaib Ahl al-Haq (League of the Righteous), and the Promise Day Brigade....
Hezbollah -- party of Allah? League of the Righteous? Why is it that Misunderstanders of Islam are always so explicit about the identification of their actions with Islam? A point to ponder for the learned analysts.
Folks: I am new to this blog. I was born and raised a muslim and I am from Iran. there is nothing more that I hate Islam and any other religion to that matter. I too have a vested intrest to be here, and I saw the destruction those fanatics did to us on 9/11 and in fact I saw the second plane hitting the tower when I was to work in Mid town Manhattan. to that End, I would like to give a little back ground about Shia's and sunnis... as you may know Iranians are Shia and a huge minority. but when arabs conqured us, the Persians, we just took their religion. we kept eveythig else in tact, language, culture etc...
but as you know during the Persian Empire we dominated the Arabs and in most cases we shoved our religion down their throats about 500 years ago, during the Safavid dynasty, the persian invaded Baghdad and had forced half of the population to convert from Sunni to Shia... so there is a huge discord here between the Shia and muslims, besides the fact the sunni think the shia are infidels there is also htis hated of sunnis for shia becuase of this reason. please also note that if toy look a map of the world, a lot of there countires such as Iraq. syria.. etc.. did not exit then these are the borders drawn by the british... these countries all bunch of f....ing tribes and that is why not only they don't get along with each other and kill them selves on a daily basis, but the are also bent hell to destroy our way of life... to that end, the war in Afghanistan is well justified we should eliminate those bastards as my own son in the marines and is in Afghanistan. how ever the war in Iraq, was one of the biggest forign policies any president has made. we took out two of the biggest enemeies of the Iranoan governemt. Taliban, and Sadam Hussain. remmeber the 8 war between Iran and aghanistan? the current Iragi government who are raised in Iran during their exiles is nothing bur a puppet and a proxy of the Iranian goverment. the Iranian aiding and abbeting these group to hit our solders are nothing new and should not come to a surprise for the readers.. the only hope here is for the brave Iranian people to topple this governemt. the last thing in the world I belive in is GOD. but if you do, please say a prayer for the Iranain people to succeed...

And our cowardly United States of America keeps shrinking from a fight with Iran. Worse, driven by pathological servitude, Hillary Clinton and Obama rushed to Iran's side expressing "heartfelt sympathy" with the families of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards killed by Baluchi separatist Jundallah fighters, and calling the Baluchi Resistance "terrorists". Instead of going to war thenselves on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards who keep arming and training both the Taliban and Iraqi jihadis, and sending them to Afghanistan and Iraq to kill American GI's there.
We desperately need a new Center Party modeled after hero Geert Wilders' glorious Freedom Party and England's EDL, with American heroes Rudy Giuliani and Paul Sperry in charge.

I'm curious what the ethical principle is here. The United States illegally invaded and is now occupying a foreign country. It is in nature very similar to the German occupation of France of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. So is it wrong to violently attempt to expel an occupying military force and if so was it wrong for the US to assist Afghanistan? Would it have been wrong to assist the French or the Polish as they attempted to expel the Nazi's violently?
jon: you are mixing apples and oranges here.. first of all the war in afghanistan not only was nesscery but also well justified. they came here and killed 3000 of our people and I witnessed it as i work in the city. this ytype of sh... can not go unpunished otherwise they will f.... with us all over again.
the war in Iraq, was wrong. however your comparion of aiding the french and poles to fight nazi, and the iranians helping al qeda is not only troubling but I also think you have not disceredn it correctly. the pols and the french were resistance armies, where as al queda is a terrrist org. based in sdeytroying humanity, two different things
Iran employs the Rock-n-Rolla's, whose actions are free from the restraint of mindful Ayatollah's, because it suites their purpose at the moment. Once these lands come under their control, the Rock-n-Rolla's that survive might be convinced to do their Jihad in another arena, or controlled, stifled or crushed by religious goons if they decide to stay and demand a position of influence for their sacrifice.
