Quoth the "partner for peace": "He is missed. He was one of the leading figures of Fatah and spent his life in resistance [against the occupation] and sincere work as well as physical sacrifice for his people's just causes" (brackets added by CNN).
Mass murder, you say? What mass murder? "Suspected Munich massacre mastermind dead, reports say," from CNN, July 3:
(CNN) -- Abu Daoud, the man who claimed to be the mastermind behind the massacre that marked the 1972 Munich Olympics, has died, according to the official news agency of the Palestinian Authority.
On September 5 of that year, Palestinian terrorists killed 11 Israeli athletes who were taken hostage.
Daoud, also known as Mohammed Oudeh, died Friday night, the WAFA news agency reported Saturday. The former Palestinian politician and commander in the Fatah and Palestinian Liberation Organization movements was 73.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas sent his condolences to Daoud's family, WAFA reported.
"He wrote in his letter to his family, 'He is missed. He was one of the leading figures of Fatah and spent his life in resistance [against the occupation] and sincere work as well as physical sacrifice for his people's just causes,' " the news agency quoted Abbas as saying.
In the early hours of the attack in Munich, eight Palestinian terrorists entered the Olympic Village in the German city.
They stormed the apartments housing the Israeli athletes and took control. Hours later, the world woke up to the image of a masked man on the balcony of the Olympic Village.
From the Olympic Village, the Palestinian terrorists issued ultimatums, demanding the release of 200 Arab inmates from Israeli prisons or they would start killing the athletes in Munich, one every hour. Eventually, all the Israelis, five terrorists and one German police officer were killed in what would be remembered as "Black September."
"The hardest part was the ultimatums," Ankie Spitzer, wife of Israeli fencing coach Andre Spitzer, who was killed in the incident, told CNN in a 2005 interview. "Every time, you die a little bit because you think now it's going to happen to him."
The Games were put on hold for a few hours.
In the Arab world, "Black September" was viewed as a triumph. Weeks later, the three captured Palestinian terrorists were freed by the German government after a Lufthansa plane was hijacked in the Balkans. The men got a heroes' welcome when they arrived in Libya.
Ironically, Daoud was allowed back into the West Bank for several years by Israel, at a time in the 1990s when relations with Palestinians were improving.
In 2006 -- around the release of Steven Spielberg's "Munich" -- he gave several interviews in which he indicated he had no regrets about the Munich attacks.
"I regret nothing," he told Germany's Spiegel TV. "You can only dream that I would apologize."
Daoud also published an autobiography, giving a first-hand look at the rise of the Palestinian resistance leading up to the attack at Munich. The book is titled "Memoirs of a Palestinian Terrorist," as well as, "Palestine -- A History of the Resistance Movement, by the Sole Survivor of Black September."

You should never negotiate with murdering thugs....and this release should have never happened...
Sports-related - will there be an attack at the World Cup? If not, how about the 2012 Olympics in Londonistan?? You know, in homage to Daoud and for old time's sake....
Also - the Tour de France kicked off today in one of Europe's most Islamicized cities - Rotterdam. I did not see even ONE Muhammadan among the spectators. Ditto for the celebrations of the Dutch soccer victory over Brazil.
So much for integration.....

I did not see ONE Muslim as a contestant.....
What CNN and Robert missed out
In his autobiography, From Jerusalem to Munich, first published in France in 1999, and later in a written interview with Sports Illustrated, Abu Daoud, wrote that funds for Munich were provided by Mahmoud Abbas, Chairman of the PLO since 11 November 2004 and President of the Palestinian National Authority since 15 January 2005
Though he claims he didn’t know what the money was being spent for, longtime Fatah official Mahmoud Abbas, aka Abu Mazen, was responsible for the financing of the Munich attack
Also in his book Abu Daoud states:
"After Oslo in 1993, Abu Mazen went to the White House Rose Garden for a photo op with Arafat, President Bill Clinton and Israel's Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres.
"Do you think that ... would have been possible if the Israelis had known that Abu Mazen was the financier of our operation? I doubt it."
In the interview with Don Yaeger of Sports Illustrated magazine.
Abu Daoud said he was angered by the dozens of Palestinian terrorists allowed to return to the Palestinian territories as a result of the Oslo process while he remained persona non grata to Israel and the United States.
Abu Mazen, Daoud complained, is now considered "respectable" even though he also was involved in the Munich attack.
In the Sports Illustrated interview, he added: "Today, the Bush Administration seeks a Palestinian negotiating partner 'uncompromised by terror,' yet last year Abu Mazen met in Washington with Secretary of State Colin Powell."
Daoud also was interviewed about the Munich massacre for a film called "One Day in September," produced by John Battsek and Arthur Cohn for Sony Pictures Classics. Director Kevin Macdonald said Abu Daoud admitted Black September was merely the cover name adopted by Fatah members when they wanted to carry out terrorist attacks.
The PLO operative recalled how Arafat and Abu Mazen both wished him luck and kissed him when he set about organizing the Munich attack.
Of those believed to have planned the Munich massacre, only Abu Daoud, the man who claims that the attack was his idea, is known to die of natural causes. In January 1977, Daoud was intercepted by French police in Paris while traveling from Beirut under an assumed name. Under protest from the PLO, Iraq, and Libya, who claimed that because Daoud was traveling to a PLO comrade's funeral he should receive diplomatic immunity, the French government refused a West German extradition request on grounds that forms had not been filled in properly, and put him on a plane to Algeria before Germany could submit another request.
Abu Daoud was allowed safe passage through Israel in 1996 so he could attend a PLO meeting convened in the Gaza Strip for the purpose of rescinding an article in its charter that called for Israel’s eradication.

And remember—Fatah are the "moderate Palestinians"...
O well.
He's dead.
And, since I am a Christian, I am free to imagine this evil Muslim jihad gangster's shock, horror and teeth-grinding humiliation when he discovers that the Judge of Heaven and Earth is...ba-da-boom! a YAHOOOD (namely, one Yeshua of Nazareth).
What an upside-down world where people (used very loosely) celebrate murder and terror. We must be terribly naive and stupid thinking we can actually be at peace with these morons.
Praying, wishing and hoping is not going to change the truth - these barbaric monsters are brainwashed and unable to think rationally or act humanely.
Get tough and put these barbarians in their place before we completely lose our marbles and start believing our own insane rhetoric.
No amount of negotiating is going to change these Islamic nut-case's thinking.
Let's hope we wake up before it is too late.
Mahmoud Abbas has been getting away with murder, in both senses, for many years. He was Arafat's loyal henchman, for example, at the time of the murder of two American diplomats in Sudan, and in up to his neck in blood on many other occasions. But his demeanor and dress are different, and he is also a past master at making people think what they want to think, and since he took over, replacing Arafat, as warlord of the "Palestinian" Authority, though his brief authority is maintained only by the IDF keeping Hamas off-balance in the "Wes Bank" and were the Israelis to stop that, the writ of Abbas would run scarcely further than the Mukata. He's a crook, his children are crooks -- they are famously the beneficiary of his office, as are so many of the children of the "Palestinian" warlords who want only the best for their children, and find that Western aid money and Western contracts are just the ticket, to give them educations in the West, real estate and bank accounts (should the need arise) in the West, and so on.
But Abbas does not deplore, and has never deplored, the most vicious acts by "Palestinian" terrorists -- and this letter mourning the death of Abu Daoud (nom de guerre, but what was the guerre? Kidnapping Israeli athletes and then massacring them? Was that the guerre?). Apparently those whom he talks to in Washington, including some in an audience of "Jewish leaders" (whatever that means these days), do not know his entire history, including his Holocaust-minimizing thesis at good old Stalinoid MGU, do not know, or choose not to make sense of, the cult of suicide-bombers encouraged on every streetcorner officially under the "Palestinian Authority," and especially, prefer to think that thought Mahmoud Abbas himself controls "Palestinian" television with an iron fist, somehow he is utterly unable to stop, or perhaps is blissfully unaware, of those shows even for pre-school children where a "Palestinian" Mickey Mouse and his companions talk about their desire to kill the evil Jews in a way, and using a means, that would have done Hitler and Goebbels proud.
This Mahmoud "No One Here But Us Accountants" Abbas is a fiction. He wants the same goals as Hamas. But he is cleverer, and part of his cleverness is to understand just how willingly credulous so many in the West are so eager to be, because they cannot think in terms of, don't want to believe, that the Jihad against Israel has no end, for that would be, for many, too upsetting, or rather, would throw a spanner into their "two-state solution" works, would expose as missing-the-point and silly the last four decades of "peace processing" --- as missing-the-point, and as silly, as the follies of Iraq and Afghanistan, where so much money, so many men, so much materiel, and above all, a decade's worth of attention that could and should have been directed at many other things, including ruthless Chinese economic warfare all over the world, global warming that is unstoppable but might be ameliorated, and the most effective ways to manage the Jihad -- it is manageable, just -- by an artful combination of exploitation of the pre-existing fissures (sectarian, ethnic, economic) within the Camp of Islam, and a widespread grasp of the notion, by Infidels, that the failures, political, economic, social, intellectual, and moral, of Muslim peoples and polities is a result of Islam itself -- which understanding can help bolster our own defenses, and when overheard and taken in by Muslims, help to demoralize them further, as they, or some of them, cannot deny the truth of the connection between Islam and what is incorrectly described as "the crisis of Islamic civilization" which always ends up as avoiding putting the blame where it belongs -- on Islam.
For more on Mahmoud Abbas (nom de guerre, if you can call terrorism a guerre, Abu Mazen), and his role as paymaster of the Munich massacre, see Shiva's post above.
I don't know if the Israelis knew, but it's fairly certain the Americans knew. They certainly knew that Arafat was responsible for attacks on US diplomats, including the death of its ambassador in the Sudan. (US intelligence had recordings of Arafat's phone calls to the terrorists in the Saudi embassy.) Yet for the sake of "peace", they chose to ignore all that.
His release by the German government was an act of moral perversion and cowardice in the highest degree.
