A week in jail, a few fines. "This will become a political issue for the country's minorities" -- that is, the non-Muslims -- "and further reinforce their unhappiness." "Malaysia fines Muslims for Hindu temple protest," by Razak Ahmad for Reuters, July 27 (thanks to Twostellas):
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - A Malaysian court sentenced a Muslim to a week in jail on Tuesday and fined 11 others for a brandishing a cow's head during a protest against the construction of a Hindu temple.Critics said the light sentences may further strain race relations between Muslims, who make up the majority of the country's 28 million population, and minority Hindus and Christians who complain of discrimination.
"Going ahead, this will become a political issue for the country's minorities and further reinforce their unhappiness," said James Chin, a politics professor at Monash University in Kuala Lumpur.
The 12 were from a group who had marched in August last year with the head of a cow to protest a plan to build a Hindu temple in their mainly Muslim neighbourhood. Hindus, who consider the cow to be a sacred animal, were angered.
Non-Muslims, who together constitute 40 percent of the population, handed the country's ruling coalition its worst defeat in the polls in 2008 due to growing alienation.
Since taking office in April last year, Prime Minister Najib Najib Razak has tried to reach out to minorities with an inclusive "1Malaysia" policy.
But ethnic and religious tensions remain high after a number of religiously charged disputes including the "cow head protest" and an ongoing row over the use of the word Allah by Christians which saw houses of worship being attacked early this year.
That is, churches attacked, by Islamic supremacists.
"..an ongoing row over the use of the word Allah by Christians .."
If "Allah" were the word for god, then Islam’s god is nameless.

I have said it before - Malaysia is Saudi Arabia of East or at least they are trying to be. It's just a matter of time they might even adopt Arabic as their national language.
Good things Hindus don't riot over insults.
I'd see the muslims' cow's head and raise them one pig's head!
OT, but here's an item from the NYT. Sorry I don't know how to set up a link.
Iraqi Militants Stealing Blood for the InjuredBy TIMOTHY WILLIAMS and YASMINE MOUSA
Published: July 26, 2010
MOSUL, Iraq — Members of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia have been holding up blood banks and hospitals at gunpoint, stealing blood for their wounded fighters rather than risk having them arrested at medical facilities, according to Iraqi doctors, employees at health centers and the Sunni insurgents themselves.
I am boycotting all Malaysian products... I'm going for Thai products over Malay. Every time I see "Made in Saudi Arabia" I put it down without thinking twice. We need to hit them where it hurts...
I wish it were the same with oil.
Malayasia is giving light penalties for behaviour that coming from non-muslims would cause muslims to riot.
But dhimmi UK is giving 2 years in jail just for ripping off a face-veil.
Made in Saudi Arabia
You mean Saudi Arabians are actually capable of producing anything worthwhile for mankind? Other than extracting Oil from the ground that is (which in anycase is done by international conglomerates!
Hmmm... I wonder what the punishment would have been if Hindus and Christians protested the building of a mosque by displaying a pig's head?
islam is so two-faced, it would be comical if not so deadly.
Add Indonesia for that contest. They're only a few steps behind the Islamification of Malaysia. As I referenced on another post, the problems in Malaysia will never go away as long as there’s Islam and as long as the Malaysian constitution stacks the legal system in favor of Muslims and against non-Muslims. It’s a real pity. If not for Islam and it’s inherent discrimination towards non-Muslims, expressed in this case through the Malay constitution, I have no doubt that Malaysia wold be far more advanced and vibrant than where it is now.
Yup! I saw some dates and other edible food items in the supermarket that had the 'Made in Saudi Arabia" tag.
Their non-oil exports are probably miniscule compared to their oil exports, but boycotting even small Saudi exports will make that wee bit of a difference and make me feel good that my money didnt go to the people that hate me and would kill me if they had the chance.
This extremely retrograde tendency to treat belief systems as "races" is a tendency to destroy individual freedom and civilization itself.
I do the same. Our Aussie supermarkets regularly stock dates from Iran (!!!)..NO THANKS; jam (!) from Egypt ...NO THANKS; dried apricots and dried tomatoes and similar, from Turkey...NO THANKS. I have also seen on the shelves rice from Pakistan and Indonesia (I say NO and look for rice from India, Thailand and the Philippines), and satay sauces and things like that (as well as paper products) from Indonesia and Malaysia. And I don't buy them - I look for the same thing from India or from Singapore, or else our own Aussie-made stuff.
100 000 unique visitors lobbed into this site on just one day, Mr Spencer told us, not too long ago. Now of course quite a few of those are members of the Ummah sussing out enemy territory. But suppose that of the thousands of non-Musims who regularly come in here, and get educated and 'woken up', thousands then get the idea of systematically, day after day, month after month, boycotting product from Muslim lands (and what kaffir in their right mind would buy any food product prepared or packed in a Muslim land, for sale to kaffir, anyway?), and the numbers of those doing as you and I and Vikrant have been doing, grows to the thousands upon thousands...it has *got* to have an effect.
Especially if, at the checkout, we explain *why* we are choosing, say, Israeli or Californian dates rather than Iranian dates, or rice from Thailand rather than rice from Pakistan, or Aussie dried apricots rather than Turkish: "because of the human rights abuses of Iran/ Pakistan/ Turkey [insert name of Muslim exporter here]...do you know that their religion tells them they can do X [insert horrible recent example here] to people who aren't Muslim?"
"A Malaysian court sentenced a Muslim to a week in jail on Tuesday and fined 11 others for a brandishing a cow's head during a protest against the construction of a Hindu temple."
A cow's head? ...allah must be VERY displeased!
Hmm, WWMD?
"A cow's head? ...allah must be VERY displeased!"
Not at all. I bet you a dollar to a donut there were some cow loathing remarks in the lost Qar'an the goat gobbled up. Allah had to have it covered, being all knowing and such, that the Hindus fell all over themselves for those little buggers. He got the monkeys covered, didn't He? Just a matter of inspired projection is what we have here folks.
Were is that fatwa? Rahsool, were did I put that fatwa?! Check your e-mail tomarrow, it's got to be somewere in this mess...
"Monash University," huh?
Are the local Malay representatives of the Ummah aware that Sir John Monash was a Jew, the son of cultured German-Jewish parents who arrived in Australia just prior to their son's birth?

Those "Zionists" are just EVERYWHERE!
In Indonesia and Malaysia, race is actually divided along religious lines, with Malays tending to be Muslim, and Christians and Hindus tending to be of Chinese or Indian descent.
I first learned about Malay Muslim discrimination against non-Malay non-Muslims in Malaysia, from ethnically-Indian and ethnically-Chinese Malaysian Christians who were studying at the Australian university I attended, and whom I met and got to know in Christian groups on campus and at church. They told me that their families sent them to Australian universities to study, because they were denied places in Malaysian universities on the basis of their being non-Malay-and-non-Muslim. It wasn't that their *marks* were poor; it was that they were being denied access to university education within Malaysia. These same people explained to me how non-Muslims (who are overwhelmingly non-Malay) were systematically discriminated against in terms of what kinds of houses they could live in, and where.
Talk about Malaysia shooting itself in the foot: their best and brightest citizens, of Malaysian Indian and Chinese extraction, whether Christians, Buddhists/ Taoists/ Confucians, or Hindus, are all hightailing it off to Australia to be educated there...and a good few of those don't go home to Malaysia. After all: who wants to live as a de facto dhimmi, despised, discriminated against, and used as a combination milch cow and punching bag?
Some - the very, very best and brightest - leave Malaysia and go to Singapore.
I have a good friend who is Singaporean Chinese Christian. She studied in Australia and now works in Singapore in the health field. Her husband was born in Malaysia (Sabah) to Malaysian Chinese Christian parents. He got his university education in Australia, which is where he met my friend; they met in a Christian group on-campus. She returned to Singapore; he to Malaysia. But he worked his tail off and moved heaven and earth and lo and behold, he managed to get himself, eventually, a good job with a Singaporean company. Upon which he moved to Singapore and married my friend (I went to the wedding - great fun! - a lovely blend of Christianity and Chinese culture). Malaysia's loss was Singapore's gain: especially as he and my friend have proceeded to have two cute kids..wouldn't be surprised if they add a third, as she's one of 3 herself.
Every educated hard-working non-Muslim in Malaysia who decides that they've just *had it* with living as de facto dhimmis, and votes with their feet - to Australia, to Singapore, to wherever - leaves Malaysia just that bit poorer, duller, less productive, and crazier. While the neighbouring non-Muslim countries, who take in the escapees, get richer, more fun, and smarter...
I love the Date Cookies from Saudic Arabic I buy then from than Arabic own store for 4.99 dollar per box. The Date grown in Califormia are growing by muslim people who grow then.
