Obama White House backed release of Lockerbie jihad bomber

Find out why this is completely unsurprising in The Post-American Presidency. "White House backed release of Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi," by Jason Allardyce and Tony Allen-Mills in The Australian, July 26 (thanks to all who sent this in):

THE US government secretly advised Scottish ministers it would be "far preferable" to free the Lockerbie bomber than jail him in Libya.

Correspondence obtained by The Sunday Times reveals the Obama administration considered compassionate release more palatable than locking up Abdel Baset al-Megrahi in a Libyan prison.

What about compassion for the 270 people al-Megrahi murdered in the name of Islamic jihad?

The intervention, which has angered US relatives of those who died in the attack, was made by Richard LeBaron, deputy head of the US embassy in London, a week before Megrahi was freed in August last year on grounds that he had terminal cancer.

The document, acquired by a well-placed US source, threatens to undermine US President Barack Obama's claim last week that all Americans were "surprised, disappointed and angry" to learn of Megrahi's release.

Scottish ministers viewed the level of US resistance to compassionate release as "half-hearted" and a sign it would be accepted.

The US has tried to keep the letter secret, refusing to give permission to the Scottish authorities to publish it on the grounds it would prevent future "frank and open communications" with other governments.

In the letter, sent on August 12 last year to Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond and justice officials, Mr LeBaron wrote that the US wanted Megrahi to remain imprisoned in view of the nature of the crime.

The note added: "Nevertheless, if Scottish authorities come to the conclusion that Megrahi must be released from Scottish custody, the US position is that conditional release on compassionate grounds would be a far preferable alternative to prisoner transfer, which we strongly oppose."....

Our Muslim president doesn't give a bovine fertilizer about the murdered "Infidels."

"The US has tried to keep the letter secret"

There's that "transparent" Hussein presidency for you.

Hussein has "compassion" just as "Allah" has compassion...for Muslims.

This should be headline news on every news station, newspaper, and online reporting entity out there, but it won't be.

If true, this does it.

On "60 Minutes" tonight there's a report on "U.S. Jihadists."

They used the word "Jihadists!" Hey Hussein, what about that?! Isn't that word forbidden in your pro-Islam Administration?

Hmmm...wonder how PC ignorant the "report" will be? Of course the "Jihadists" will be "Misunderstanders" of Islam...

What's the Orwellian euphemism Hussein uses for "Islamic Jihad?"

"What's the Orwellian euphemism Hussein uses for "Islamic Jihad?"

Oh - "man-caused disasters" - something like that. Yeah, right! No, Hussein, the correct description is "Islamic Jihad."

If true, Obama is a liar who got caught with his pants down.

Drudge is headlining this story, AS.

If Rush talks about it tomorrow, 20 million people will know about it. Forget about headlines, print is dead. Forget about mainstream media, they never were mainstream.

I can't wait to hear Family Guy Fibbs talk around this one.

Simply amazing. Oblowme is the gift that keeps on giving.

BTW once Rush and Fox run big time with it, Oblowme and the Dems will be forever painted with the label "soft on terrorism and those whole murder Americans by the hundreds"

Translated politically - their collective goose is cooked.

Between the economy and Owe-Bow-Mao's suicidal foreign policies, his pants have been down around his ankles for some time now.

He is a stranger to the truth at every turn.

Appalling. The American public may be sickened by the release of this mass murderer, but now they will find that it was done *with the complicity of our own presidency*.

Again is right!! He's like the energizer bunny of deception......he just keeps going and going and going and going!!!!!!!!!!

Stop picking on Rasulullahhaha Obama, don't you know he is a master of conpassion? His capacity for conpassion is equal to that of thirty men...He spreads his conpassion everywhere he go's...Because of that he is not answerable to ordinary men, but ordinary men are answerable to him...But of course, he could be impeached and run out of office...He would of course, take his conpassion with him...

When are the elections?

Just 23% now believe the federal government has the consent of the governed.

In his new book, In Search of Governance, Scott Rasmussen says, “The gap between Americans who want to govern themselves and politicians who want to rule over them may be as big today as the gap between the colonies and England during the 18th century.”

Yeah, he's spreading something alright and it's already seeping in the top of our hip boots!!

From the article:

"The intervention, which has angered US relatives of those who died in the attack".

'those who died'.

No: those who were *killed*. Those who were *murdered*.

Let's rewrite.

'The intervention, which has angered US relatives of those whom Megrahi and his fellow-jihadis murdered in the attack'.

If this is true, it really does place President Obama in a very bad place. Any action he takes against Islamist terrorists will now be questioned as being more for show than for impact. It would have been like F.D.R. treating Hitler as the head of a gang of pickpockets, rather than the serious threat that he actually was. Pin prick responses when the actions of terrorists are too large to ignore and a simple-minded nonchalance passing itself off as sophistication when smaller incidents occur appears to be the course that President Obama is taking now. Mr. Obama's strategic thinking is either worse than useless or non-existent.

This man in our White House needs to be impeached and imprisoned as traitorous to these United States. He has betrayed his oath of office. I don't believe he is ignorant of his actions, and that each of them have been to further an agenda that NO American can tolerate. He has flouted the laws of our land, our Constitution, and our rights as free people. We need to vote out all his minions, and defund all of the bills that this Congress has passed on his behalf. I hope, considering the last election and the New Black Panthers who paraded themselves outside the polls, the dead people, the felons, and the illegals who voted...that we truly will have a next election...hopefully one without the corruption. God Bless this nation and all patiots who defend her...military and civilian alike.

No impeachment of Obama yet? How about a Straw Poll

Okay, lets be honest here. The Obama administration wanted him to not be released in the first place but if he had to be then they felt that Al-Meghari should be under house arrest in Scotland rather than in a "Libyan prison". Especially given the fact that Al-Meghari was flown to Libya on a jet provided by Gaddafi, given a heroes welcome with a military band and then left in a convoy with with the President Gaddafi's son.
