Obama’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism speaks out against “Islamophobia”

If Hannah Rosenthal really wants to end “Islamophobia,” here is an easy way. She can call upon Muslims to:

1. Focus their indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts.
2. Renounce definitively not just “terrorism,” but any intention to replace the U.S. Constitution (or the constitutions of any non-Muslim state) with Sharia even by peaceful means. In line with this, clarify what is meant by their condemnations of the killing of innocent people by stating unequivocally that American and Israeli civilians are innocent people.
3. Teach Muslims the imperative of coexisting peacefully as equals with non-Muslims on an indefinite basis.
4. Begin comprehensive international programs in mosques all over the world to teach against the ideas of violent jihad and Islamic supremacism.
5. Actively work with Western law enforcement officials to identify and apprehend jihadists within Western Muslim communities.

If Muslims do those five things, voila! “Islamophobia” will no longer hold sway among Westerners!

Pamela Geller comments: “Imagine this: [Obama’s] anti-semitism envoy is busy fighting imaginary ‘islamophobia,’ as if wanting to defend yourself from Islamic terror and Islamic supremacism is a defect or ‘discrimination.’…Hannah Rosenthal, traitor to the Jewish people, utters not a word about the virulent Jew-hatred and genocidal rhetoric in the Koran in her remarks made to the OSCE — examples here. Nor does she mention the despicable blood libels against Jews taught in madrassas across the world.”

“Combating Intolerance and Discrimination Against Muslims,” by Hannah Rosenthal, Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the OSCE High-Level Conference on Tolerance and non-Discrimination, Astana, Kazakhstan, June 29:

As the United States government’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, I would like to thank the OSCE and the government of Kazakhstan for hosting this conference and bringing attention to these important issues.

We welcome the opportunity to speak here today, as the problem of intolerance and discrimination against Muslims is an issue across the OSCE region. The United States strongly supports combating all forms of discrimination and intolerance against Muslims and is taking efforts to build mutual respect between people of all faiths. The U.S. government works continuously to ensure that person of all faiths, including Muslims, can freely enjoy the fundamental freedom of religion. We raise these concerns with our Allies, partners, and others – both within the OSCE and without. The U.S. Government’s Annual Report on International Religious Freedom addresses these concerns in detail within the OSCE region and around the world.

In the OSCE region, for example, the free practice of Islam is severely constrained in different ways – from overt prejudices to non-support for structures that allow religious observance. In some participating States, Muslim communities have great difficulty operating mosques not controlled or sanctioned by the state, sometimes resulting in problematic penalties for this activity. In some states, in fact, one can’t even build a mosque. In some states, registration systems often disproportionately burden small Muslim religious communities, and some countries’ legal systems ban personal religious expression–restrictions which inevitably limit freedoms we all hold dear.

In what states can one not build a mosque? I know of no nation that prohibits the construction of mosques. If anyone knows what state she could be talking about, please drop me a note. Meanwhile, notice that she says absolutely nothing about the restrictions on non-Muslim houses of worship that are all too common all over the Islamic world.

But I am not here today to name and shame. Rather, I would like to talk about how the United States has changed its entire framework for engagement with Muslim communities, and for the need to move beyond mere tolerance to partnerships based on mutual respect.

Just over one year ago in a speech in Cairo, President Obama articulated the United States’ commitment to a new relationship with Muslims around the world based on mutual respect, mutual interest, and mutual responsibility; a shared commitment to universal values; and comprehensive engagement with governments and people alike.

The President pledged that the United States would make a sustained effort to engage people, as well as governments, and to listen. Since then, our government has worked tirelessly to fulfill this Presidential priority. The United States has held thousands of events and town halls with students, civil society groups, faith leaders and entrepreneurs in the United States and around the world. Secretary Clinton and I have also held roundtables, webchats, “townterviews,” and town hall meetings to engage people worldwide, with a particular focus on engaging the next generation of Muslims around the world. Our engagement at this people-to-people level is becoming a matter of course, and what we have heard has informed our policy….

And what does Obama have to show for all this effort to show respect? What Islamic entity has met his call for mutual respect? The respect has not been mutual from anyone, in any way — as could have been predicted by anyone with any knowledge of the doctrine of jihad and Islamic supremacism.

I don’t know of any states prohibiting the building of mosques, but Saudi Arabia won’t let any churches, temples or synagogues be built. They won’t let non-Islamic religions be openly practiced. They treat women as property and non-Muslims as second class citizens. Perhaps this dhimmi might take a look at the actual practices of Islam in their home country and that those practices are in complete accordance with the “religion of peace.”

Sigh!!!! Wouldn’t it be really cool if we had a mainstream media that would actually listen/read this speech and ferret out all of the LIES? Then once they did the research and exposed the lies they would pass it on to the American people?

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I dozed off there for a minute as you could probably tell…….as I am obviously dreaming!!!!!!!!

This is complete and utter crap. She’s really an idiot, isn’t she? And as for insisting that “the united States has changed its entire framework for engagement with Muslim communities” — that may be a wishful fantasy of some semi-demented people in the Obama Administration, but it is impossible for them any longer to hold back the truth. For as the daily Jihad News from around the world penetrates into the consciousness of Americans, and as more and more of them are finding out, on their own, about what is contained in Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira, and learning more and more about the history of Islamic conquest and subjugation and universal mistreatment of non-Muslims, and finding these things out despite the best efforts of many at the top of our government t0 prevent the acquisition of such knowledge, and thus the ability to grasp the meaning, and full menace, of Islam and its adherents, their distrust of their own government, their contempt for many in that govnerment, the loss of legitimacy, as a consequence of such behavior, of that government — a most worrying development, and one not to be undone by rhetorical sleight-of-had — show that Hannah Rosenthal, and all those like her, have lost touch with the reality of what is happening down here, on the ground, among those still capable of thought, and of grasping reality without worshiping at the altars of the Idols of the Age, Diversity and Tolerance, as they are misapplied so dangerously to those who are dead-set against Diversity (the whole world, according to those who take Islam seriously, should belong to Allah and to Muslims), and Tolerance (why should non-Muslims be treated with anything but what the Shari’a prescribes, that is a legal system that treats those non-Muslims who are allowed to live, and to practice their religion — that is, the dhimmis — to have to endure a permanent status, as dhimmis, of humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity.

Does Hannah Rosenthal not know any of this?

Has she read Schacht? Or Antoine Fattal on the legal status of non-Muslims under Muslim rule? Has she read Snouck Hurgronje? Arthur Jeffrey? Henri Lammens? K. S. Lal? No? Why not?

Has she read any of the great and articulate defectors from the Army of Islam? Magdi Allam? Ayaan Hirsi Ali? Ibn Warraq? Wafa Sultan? Nonie Darwish, or many dozens of others?

    No?

    Why not?

Whereof we do not know, thereof…

    You know the rest.

But does Hannah Rosenthal? What exactly does she know, about Islam and the history of Islamic conquest? What does she understand about the observable behavior of Muslims, in Muslim-ruled lands, toward Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and possibly the last remaining Jews?

If book-learning is not her strong suit, then what about merely paying attention to what is happening, to the Buddhists, say, in the Chittagong Hills, or the Christians, say, in Iraq, or southern Sudan, or Egypt, or in Gaza? What about what is happening, and has happened ever since the founding of the state of Pakistan, to Hindus in Pakistan (formerly West Pakistan) and Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan)? Does she have any idea?

What does Hannah Rosenthal do all day?

What ignorance, what a commonplace mind, is on display in her every word and every attitude.

  4. says

Hannah Rosenthal here is repeating the usual muslim whine when they have spotted a topic where the infidels in their aura of political correctness dare not contradict. Is this drivel official US policy now?
It´s built into islam that infidel places of worship are to be stopped, brought to a halt, obstructed, impeded, forbidden, kept very low indeed. And still muslims and their apologists have the audacity and insolence to accuse the infidels of the muslim prejudice. I really should admire such lack of honesty and sensitivity but forgive me if I find it difficult to smile.

I find it absolutely horrific to see US officials subscribe to this nonsense.

  5. says

At the end of the State Dept piece is this gem:

“ews cannot fight anti-Semitism alone. Muslims cannot fight Islamophobia alone. Roma cannot fight – alone. The LGBT community cannot fight – alone. And the list goes on. Hate is hate, but we can overcome it together.

May I invite all of you to join us at our side event right after this session. Thank you, Mr. Moderator.”

I would love to be in the room when members of the LGBT Community and the Muslim Community joined hands to fight…something. Just so much idiotic hot air. Does anyone think this Rosenthal idiot actually believes this drivel or is she just cashing her fat paycheck and accumulating frequent flier miles?

  6. says

But I am not here today to name and shame. Rather, I would like to talk about how the United States has changed its entire framework for engagement with Muslim communities, and for the need to move beyond mere tolerance to partnerships based on mutual respect.

To bad the mutual respect idea only goes one way. muslims consistently show they have no respect for anyone, not even other muslims. What makes these idiotic, uninformed, brain-dead elitists think that’s ever going to change? It will never change, it will always be that way, it has been that way for 1400 years, and if nothing is done will be that way for the next 1400 years or until one of these islamic countries lights their nukes.

My advice to our enlightened elitists leaders is pull their heads out of their collective asses and see the real world for what it truly is. It seems to me that those, mostly on the left, who view islam as a normal ideology and muslims as normal everyday folks tend to be the same idiots who believe in some government run utopia where there is no poverty and everyone joins hands and sings kumbaya. In other words they live on fantasy island.

Everyday this world sinks to knew lows of chaos and stupidity. For living in the technological information age where people are/should be better informed, common sense has totally been driven from the intelligence lexicon and means doodly squat anymore. Everyday our world leaders prove my point. Its actually quit pathetic to witness.

  7. says

It’s all lies, hot air, and BS, but it’s never challenged by the MSM. It’s the monotonous hum of drivel that keeps the PC hypnosis going. The Left doesn’t even care if it makes no sense. If they can make it sound inspiring and “truthy” it makes them feel good and convinces the gullible. If you challenge the nonsense you will be labelled “controversial” — at best. The disseminators, like Ms. Rosenthal, are probably never personally challenged to support their statements. She may actually believe what she is saying. Leftists have a way of constructing an airtight world for their beliefs. It doesn’t have to correspond to reality. Their enormous sense of righteousness trumps reality. It is a mental disorder.

  8. says

There is absolutely nothing in what Rosenthal says that would not have been promoted enthusiastically by the Bush Administration — that, indeed, was not so promoted.

Secondly, I note yet again Hugh’s head-scratching bafflement which seems to arise from an explanatory vacuum, which itself rests on the somewhat simplistic assumption that mere data input about Islam and about Muslims should be sufficient to change a person’s mind from a state of pro-Islamic complacency to an appropriately literate and informed condemnation of Islam.

Obviously, mere data input is not enough, for there exist innumerable intelligent people out there in our West — many of them academics who have read Schacht, etc., along with the primary Islamic sources — who continue to defend the pro-Islamic paradigm.

What must be occurring, then — with regard to many of these types of people (and Rosenthal herself may not be the brightest bulb among them) — is that the data goes in, but does not get digested and assimilated in the proper way. Something happens to the data at some point in the assimilation process. We Jihad Watchers have a healthy way of assimilating the data about Islam. Our alimentary system works rationally: we absorb what is nutritious (Western virtues), and we expel what is toxic (Islam). The organisms of the politically correct multi-culturalists, however, perversely reverse this process, absorbing the shit and shitting on what’s right and good.

But the cure for their disease isn’t a matter of spoonfeeding them the data we assume must not be in their diet. They are getting the data; and even when some of them aren’t, we should know that their ingestion of it alone will not solve the problem. For it is not the input of the data that matters, it is what their internal system does to the data wherein lies the problem.

I really don’t know how to cure this digestion problem amongst the politically correct multi-culturalists; nor have I quite figured out what makes us different from our fellow human beings around us who continue to be Islamoimbeciles. But I do know that we will never be able to figure it out as long as we remain incognizant of it and go on assuming that if only the right data could be communicated to these people, the scales would fall from their eyes.

  9. says

“mutual respect, mutual interest, and mutual responsibility…”

    Mutual?

What does ‘mutual’ mean in islam?

Does it have the same warped, bizarro-world type definition as does other islamic concepts like ‘respect’, ‘honor’, ‘justice’, ‘innocent’, etc?

    ————————————-

    Dictionary.com:

    mu·tu·al (myÅÅ’chÅÅ-É™l)
    adj.

Directed and received by each toward the other; reciprocal

    ————————————-

    Islamic definition:

    mu·tu·al (myÅÅ’chÅÅ-É™l)
    adj.

Directed by Infidels and received by muslims; a peaceful exchange when filthy disbelievers finally acknowledge islamic superiority and agree to voluntary subjugation.

  10. says

Why should any Infidel, reading 9.29 and 9.5, or 4.34, or a hundred other Qur’anic passages that Muslims deeply believe to be the Uncreated and Immutable Word of God, offer “respect” to Muslims or to Islam? Why? On what theory? Do we have to offer “respect” to Nazism because millions of people were Nazis? And we must offer “respect” to Islam because there are more than a billion Muslims?

Or is Hannah Rosenthal from the George-Bush school of believing that something called a “religion” is entitled to automatic respect. In his case it was his feeling of having been saved from alcoholism by becoming a born-again Chrisetian and his naive and baseless belief that if it is a “religion” it must be good. What’s her reason?

  11. says

What an amazing display of ignorance!!

It is Islam and its 1 billion, 200 million plus adherants within the umma that are the greatest promoters of antisemitism on the planet. And this women amazingly lumps in people who recognize what Islam really is all about and how its archaic teachings and sharia threaten not only the Jewish people everyday but also all non Muslims. And yet she has the unmitigated nerve to condemn the people who recognize who the real villain is when it comes to antisemitism.

Antisemitism is deeply entrenched in all the teachings of Islam and it reflects a hate fest against the Jewish people that is displayed like a rabid dog.

Once again we see a person who wants to blame everybody but what truly drives Islam that is locked in stone for all time. And of course what ever you do don’t condemn the hateful teachings of Islam or the monstrous 36 articles of the Hamas Charter.

Just another dhimmi appeaser and enabler of the aggressive determinations of Islam who will give no quarter.

  12. says

All I can think of this jewish fool standing along a parade back in the 30’s in germany waving the nazi flag. loudly proclaiming that some jews are being Naziphobic for opposing the Nazis.

    Another believe-it-or-not moment for the already-bulging WTF?-File.

She’s supposed to be the WHAT? “Special envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism?” Did somebody forget to tell HER? All that “outreach” and “engagement” wasted on her erstwhile genocidal conquerors. Not a word about Anti-Semitism, which, by the way, is supposed to be her job! Wonder who’s “monitoring” the Anti-Semitic desk while she’s out protecting muslims? With “friends” like Hannah Rosenthal, Jewish folks surely don’t need enemies! In fact, they have seen the enemy…and it is SHE…

  14. says

“… some countries’ legal systems ban personal religious expression …”

Yes, it’s just so wrong and so bigoted. The legal codes of Western countries don’t allow honor-killing, nor murdering apostates, homosexuals, or critics of Islam, nor the stoning of adulterers. And since these are all manifestations of Islam, and no other religion, it’s clear that the laws are islamophobic and racist.

  16. says

I don’t know if Hannah Rosenthal ever acquired, or has lost, the habit of reading, the habit of study. She might, for example, spend this coming July 4th Weekend reading Bat Ye’or’s “The Dhimmi” and “Islam and Dhimmitude.”

Or she might simply click onto Youtube, and see some of the public remarks on Islam by Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Wafa Sultan.

For example, she might start with this statement by Wafa Sultan about Geert Wilders:

    http://www.faithfreedom.org/videos-features/wafa-sultan-defending-geert-wilders/

    Oh, she could do this.

    And she could do that.

But she won’t do any of it.

She doesn’t want to inform herself. It would cause too much….trouble.

  17. says

The root cause of this brand of terrorism, Islamic, faith driven, cannot be formally recognized by the US government. Real fears that religious communities within our boarders, already marginalized by their own isolationism, their faith coupled with ethic ties, may be subject to attack once the truth becomes widespread.

Even if a small group of people see the threat of Jihad worthy of an aggressive, actionable response, law enforcement would have to clean up the mess. Vigilante justice scares the hell out of government, anarchy unchecked. This brand of diversity will never recieve the blessing of Obama and his sect of politicos. A systematic agenda of blinding and misleading the public, to forestall the inevitable.

History has shone that those labled infidels have no choice but to meet violence with violence. Their survival and freedom depend on it.

  18. says

    Here’s more on Hannah Rosenthal:

In her first major interview since becoming President Obama’s newly appointed anti-Semitism czar last month, Hannah Rosenthal yesterday blasted the Israeli government for its criticism of a lobby group accused of anti-Israel activity.

Rosenthal characterized as “most unfortunate” a decision by Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, to not attend the annual dinner in September of J Street, a lobby group that is mostly led by left-leaning Israelis and that receives funds from Arab and Muslim Americans…

Rosenthal serves on the board of J Street, which states on its website it seeks to “promote meaningful American leadership to end the Arab-Israeli and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts peacefully and diplomatically.”

J Street supports talks with Hamas, a terrorist group whose charter seeks the destruction of Israel. The group opposes sanctions against Iran and is harshly critical of Israeli offensive anti-terror military actions.
    …………

So”Hanna Rosenthal is critical of Israel for not supporting a group that *supports Iran and Hamas*. I suppose she considers this “Islamophobic”.

She also supports the meretricious Goldstone Report, which accuses Israel of “war crimes”.

Can it be that she doesn’t take the threat to Israel and the Jews seriously? It would seem so:

“It is not 1939,” she said. “We have the state of Israel. We have laws in countries that are holding people accountable.”

Only slightly off-topic”here’s what “Ask the Imam” had to say in response to a question as to whether Muslims should admire Hitler’s murder of the Jews. It’s a damn disturbing answer, and only slightly equivocal:

Q: many muslims priase (sic) Hitler for killing jews, shoud (sic) they or are they wrong.

A: Islam has ordered us Muslims to fight against the enemies of Islam and not be like the Jew and make other nations fight their wars. We as Muslims may share in Hitlers hatered (sic) for the Jews but we cannot praise him for the manner in which he went about killing the jews (if the history books are correct). But rather we as Muslims are governed by the Shariah which prohibit the killing the old and the weak etc.

Take This Test To Be Sure”

‘Are you an Islamophobe? Here is a simple test.

Lorna Saltzman’s Test

“Do you favor equal rights and treatment of women and men?

“Do you oppose stoning of women accused of adultery?

“Do you favor mandatory education of girls everywhere?

“Do you oppose slavery and child prostitution?

“Do you support complete freedom of expression and the press?

“Do you support the right of an individual to worship in her chosen religion?

“Do you oppose government- and mosque-supported anti-Semitic publications, radio, TV and textbooks?

“Do you oppose the wearing of burqas in public places, schools and courts?

“Do you oppose segregation of the sexes in public places and houses of worship?

“Do you oppose the death penalty for non-Muslims, and Muslims who convert to another religion?

    “Do you oppose “honor” killings?

“Do you oppose female genital mutilation?

“Do you oppose forced sexual relations?

“Do you oppose discrimination against homosexuals?

“Do you support the right to criticize religion?

    “Do you oppose polygamy?

“Do you oppose child marriage, forced or otherwise?

“Do you oppose the quranic mandate to kill non-Muslims and apostates?

“Do you oppose the addition of sharia courts to your country’s legal system?

“Do you disagree with the quran which asserts the superiority of Islam to all other religions?

“If you answered most or all of these affirmatively, you are a vile Islamophobe and deserve to be beheaded as the quran instructs.

“If you answered one third or more of them affirmatively, you are a borderline Islamophobe and need to receive brainwashing to become a full-fledged dhimmi.

“If you answered a quarter or fewer affirmatively, you need a few private lessons in dhimmitude to scrub yourself clean of those remnants of Islamophobia.

“If you answered affirmatively to NONE of these,

    “Congratulations!

“You are a worthy observant (radical–PC addition) Muslim and have a bright future vilifying Jews, torturing women or, inshallah, becoming a suicide bomber.”

I have heard this “moving beyond tolerance” line before: in the new guide for Australian teachers to bring Islam and Islamic content into Australian schools, enthusiastically endorsed by the Education Department. We must now “embrace diversity” which “opens the door to cultural synthesis. What emerges i8n this process is something new and exciting that reinforces the quintessential humanity at the heart of all cultures.” This drivel was written by Professor Akbarzadeh of Melbourne Uni’s “Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies”.
(For more information, read some of the below:

    “This process”…
And I see the dhimmis, such as Rosenthal above, are happy about “this process” (of shifting power by means of dynamic multiculturalism, which I wonder if was always the intention of the multiculturalists.
