SUKKUR, Pakistan, July 29 (CDN) -- A dozen masked men shot five Christians to death as they came out of their church building here on July 15, two months after a banned Islamic extremist group sent church leaders a threatening letter, relatives said.
Pastor Aaron John and church members Rohail Bhatti, Salman John, Abid Gill and Shamin Mall of Full Gospel Church were leaving the church building after meeting to discuss security in light of the threats they had received, said the pastor's son, Shahid John.
"As we came out of the church, a group of a dozen armed gunmen came and opened fire at us," said Shahid John, who survived a bullet in his arm. "Fear struck the area. The police arrived 45 minutes after the incident, and we waited for over 45 minutes for the ambulance to arrive."
Besides Shahid John, five others were wounded in the attack.
In May church leaders received a letter from Islamic extremist group Sip-e-Sahaba (formerly Sipah-e-Sahaba until it was banned) warning the Christians to leave the area, said Kiran Rohail, wife of the slain Rohail Bhatti.
"It said to vacate the land, Christians are not welcomed here, they are polluting our land," Kiran Rohail said.
The Sip-e-Sahaba and Sunni Tehrik extremist groups are both linked with an area madrassa (Islamic school) whose students had been threatening the church since 2008, Christian sources said.
"In 2008 a group of Muslim students started making threats for the church to vacate the land, as there are only 55 Christian families living in the area," said the pastor's widow, Naila John, who also lost her son Salman John in the attack.
The masked gunmen of July 15 had young physiques like those of students, Christian sources said, and their manner of attack indicated they were trained extremists....
Pakistan, its religious ideology, political and military leadership is the true face of pure evil incarnate on display in living color for the entire world's civilized people to witness. This backward 7th century culture of hatred, slavery, religious supremacism, deceitful and arrogant nation is ever so ready to unashamedly beg for more international grants and aid from the very civilized and generous western Christian majority nations, yet Pakistan arrogantly continues to persecute the very tiny minoriy Christian population in Pakistan with impunity and is doing absolutely nothing to protect these poor Christian souls.
It is time for the western nations to cut all aid to Pakistan and put economic sanctions on Pakistan to force them to come out of 7th century and conform to today international standards and international law. They must start respecting and consider as equal Jews, the legitimate children of Abraham, the people of the book, Christians, Hindus, Buddists, Atheists, Gays, Lesbians, Trans-genders, as they should offer the same non-violent respect toward all types of the people of the world we live in and respect their religions and reliious practices. Pakistan must give up their violent ideology in earnest towards all of the aforementioned groups to be considered a civilized modern nation.
Think about it: The outrageous and horrible atrocities that occur every day in Islamic countries are taken for granted in the West. They are reported, if at all, with the same emphasis that everyday crimes or accidents receive.
When these events do take place in Western countries, on the other hand, they assume epic proportions. Yet attacks like the 7/7 London tube bombings, for example, would be hum-drum if they took place in Baghdad. And attacks against Christians, despite the prevalence of Christians in the West, are often ignored.
Doesn't this belie the idea that people in the West are especially concerned with what happens to Muslims, or to people in Islamic lands, Palestinian or otherwise?
This site, despite the flak it gets for allegedly being right wing, is one of the few places to go to find out the details about what's happening in Islamic countries. Sure, JW is not a fan of Islam, but JW cares about what happens to people over there.

Keep this article. As and when there is a proposal to build an 'Islamic school' in *your* neighbourhood, print off this story and place it under the noses of the leadership of every church and other religious establishment within ten minutes' drive.
Say to them: since this is what happens in Dar al Islam, since this is what issues forth from an Islamic school where the students learn the Qur'an, how can you possibly be sure that similar attackers will not, one day, issue forth from the Islamic schools on *our* soil? Best to play safe. Best NOT to permit Muslims to build indoctrination/ jihad training centres aka 'Islamic schools'.

Since I usually attend a traditional Latin Mass (aka Tridentine/Extraordinary Form) in Chicago, I don't often get a chance to "mouth off" in church but when at our Michigan cottage, I can only attend a Novus Ordo (post Vat II) Mass and the priest always includes the invitation to "Add now your own prayers and petitions" after the Creed. [As Sister Elizabeth my history teacher used to say with tongue firmly in cheek: "Don't hold back, Bev, tell us what you REALLY think."]
Anyway, I never miss an opportunity to offer a prayer asking for our awareness, support and prayers for Christian converts in Muslim controlled countries. Boy you should see those necks snap around. This is a very conservative little town that is invaded every summer by the limo libs from Chi town and nearby college towns. Most bumper stickers are those annoying, cloying "COEXIST" type.
Two Sunday's ago when I asked for prayer for Pakistani Christians being gunned down by Muslims and for a realistic Catholic response to their brothers' persecution the deacon shot me a scowl that told me his radio dial was tuned permanently to NPR.

There are several million muslims in America, some of whom are polluting or yearing to pollute 'my' land, not with their mere presence but with their ideology and their agenda. Unfortunately, I can do nothing about it because our laws protect them and in doing so, endanger me. Since I'm a believer in the rule of law, I will accept this paradox for now but I believe that in the not too distant future, there will be overwhelming demands for some changes in our laws pertaining to ersatz religions.

Venkat, the only thing idiotic is your statement. These people aren't transients but people who have lived for eons there. Every corner of Porkiestan is hindu land, it is a part of India. Some converted to christianity and they lived in peace with the hindus. Then the muslim invaded and took over much of this land. Then Porkietan, was created by muslims to seperate them selves from the hindus. It's an apartheid state. It's the muslims who need to lose the religion of the invaders and go back to hinduisim and christianity.

what makes you think that Christians who have been part of Pakistan for many hundreds of years cannot love Pakistan?

pakistan is based on islamic ideology and that is the only reason it was formed from india. its a basic assumption to expect people who want to live/living in pakistan accept islam and its ways. i just feel its plain stupid to expect pak muslims to be secular and ensure justice for hindus and christians. ask any pak he will tell the same
Actually the porkie constitution gives rights and freedom of religion to all people. But as you can see the porkies true to their selfish selves have treated their constitution like toilet paper. For them it means nothing. Find me in the constitution where it says only the muslim and specifically only the sunni muslims have freedom of life liberty and unhappiness.

I would like us to ask these millions of Muslims in Democratic countries what they choose. Is it allright for a Pakistani Muslim to say "Christians pollute Pakistan" but at the same time highly "blasphemous" to say Muslim pollute America"? I am in a mood to call for laws to demand from Muslims in Democratic countries to demand from their co-religionists the same respectful treatment they receive from the Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Atheists.
OK, they may be neutral about it, but the facts shown here must be shown to the Muslims in democratic countries (and the rest of the inhabitants) and they must be asked what their primary loyalty, unity and choices are, somehow, in future.
