Your Honor:In regard to the proposal to build an Islamic center at the site of the 9/11 terrorist attack in Manhattan, I commend you for saying: "Everything the United States stands for and New York stands for is tolerance and openness, and I think it's a great message for the world. . . . " But I would urge you to question whether this project truly represents that idea -- or whether it undermines it.
Start with this: Before this project is approved, surely New Yorkers and other Americans should know who will be picking up the more than $100 million tab. Would you not be distressed were it later to be revealed that funds had been contributed by people who also finance terrorism?
You'll recall that, after the 9/11 attacks, your predecessor Rudy Giuliani turned down a $10 million check from a Saudi prince who had said that America shares blame for the atrocity. Feisal Abdul Rauf, the imam behind the Islamic center project, has said that U.S. policies "were an accessory to the crime that happened." How is that different?
By the way, the Saudi royal family embraces Wahhabism, an interpretation of Islam that cannot be said to value "tolerance and openness." Among other things, in Saudi Arabia non-Muslim houses of worship are prohibited and "infidels" -- people like you and me -- may not set foot in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina upon pain of death. Newt Gingrich has called on Abdul Rauf to state clearly that he disagrees with such policies. Is that not a reasonable request?
I have an additional suggestion: If this project -- also called the "Cordoba Initiative"-- is really to "symbolize interfaith cooperation," if it's really to be an "inter-religious center," a 13-story home for "multi-faith collaboration," should it not contain a synagogue and a church as well as a mosque?
I would recommend putting each on a different floor. On the highest floor, let's put the church -- since Christians founded this great nation of ours. One floor down, let's put a synagogue, since Jews were among the earliest immigrants to find religious freedom in America. And one floor farther down, we'd have the mosque, a place for a newer generation of immigrants to gather and worship freely.
Here's my guess: If you propose this to Abdul Rauf, emphasizing, as you have in the past, the First Amendment rule that the government "shouldn't be in the business of picking" one religion over another, he will nonetheless refuse. He will offer all sorts of explanations, but the truth, I suspect, is that he believes that Islam is not "one of the world's great religions" but rather the only true religion, that others are false and wicked. He will find it blasphemous that you want this center to give equal status to Christianity and Judaism. And he will see putting a church and synagogue on higher floors as symbolizing more than equality....
EVERYONE:
If Feisal Abdul Rauf's monument to Islamist arrogance and dhimmi submission is going to get approved, I suggest that we all band together and BOYCOTT everyone and anyone (and their business interests) associated with the planning, financing and construction of this project. Furthermore, I suggest that the boycott be conducted in the most high-profile manner possible and as soon as possible. A public message needs to be sent to all the entities associated with this project that there is going to be a financial and PR price to pay for their actions, and that message needs to be sent NOW.
A few introductory targets:
- Everyone associated with the Cordoba Project, and that includes donors
- All of the officials (and their business interests), from the Mayor of New York City to the members of the Community Board who have expressed their support for this project
- The architects, developers and construction companies involved in the destruction of he existing structure and construction of the new structure
- All of the financiers (and their business interests) contributing to the construction of this project
Certainly, there will be others who will deserve boycotting, but that's just a short list for starters.
If this is a done deal, it's time to start taking names, looking into their business interests and start dishing out some payback. These clowns don't care what you think - hit them where it hurts: in the wallet and the court of public opinion.

Clifford May doesn't understand what Bloomberg means and thinks about 'tolerance'
Bloomberg, and others think that if we show such as Islam that we will let them have THEIR freedom(s) even when they deceptively intend to diminish ours, that we're in the right, the good and that is the point.
He doesn't... Bloomberg, understand or know about the glorification of homicidal immolation and slaughter attached to the 'purpose' of infidels. That is the purpose of 'infidels'. To be offered to be converted, to be otherwise offered to be dhimmi, or if refused, to be offed.... and not offered, But demanded.
And muslims will say it is evil that prevents their success in this regard and those endeavors.
Such is the 'evil' of the west, the evil of zionists, to thwart the will of Mohammed and his god. There should be no foregetting of this. And of course, even though Rauf would never accept a church and a synogogue above the mosque, that is also, not the real point.
That Islam should build a cathedral of 13 stories in Mecca, and a synogogue of oh, say 3 stories in Mecca and their city medina, stolen from the jews when it was Yathrib, and invite others to walk freely in Mecca and medina and anywhere in Saudi Arabia, and then... they can build a mosque say in, oh.....

Mike Bloomberg is a liberal tyrant, who used his money, power and influnece to circumvent the two-term limit rule for Mayor of NYC that was so highly touted as proper justification for terminating Giuliani's tenure.
Bloomberg is a tax and spend liberal Mayor, an opportunist at every turn, who has run on the Dermocratic, Republican and Independent tickets at one time or another to suit his own personal needs. In fact, he spends most weekends in Bermuda, flying there on his personal jet, and able to purchase property there which is only afforded a very select few, given Bermuda's strict citizenship and residency laws.
He cares not about increased taxes because his personal wealth allows him not care, and I wouldn't be surprised, like most tax and spend liberals, like Rangel and Johnny "the yacht" Kerry, that he simply knows and utilizes the loopholes to avoid paying his full share of the taxes that they collectively levy on us paeons.
And finally, Bloomberg is a consummate dhimmi like many before him, declaring a righteous tolerance of Islam without any previous need or desire to actually learn a damn thing about Islam...it's texts and tenets, or its aggressive and violent history, which remains consistent and unchanged to this day. His refusal to even acknowledge the possibility of any insiduous underpinnings to this particular mosque project, speaks volumes about a general lack of character in the man.
He actually declared people who oppose this mosque, in this location, as "un-American".
He is a traitor and I for one can't wait to see him move on and pursue his pipe dream of winning the US Presidency.

I just don't "get" Hizzoner Mayor Bloomberg.
His city was attacked by muslims. Thousands of innocents were killed. Brave firefighters and police were killed. The buildings' collapse made the entire area a mass final-resting place for these victims. The building in question was damaged by this muslim attack.
Muslims CELEBRATED this attack, the worst attack on America in the history of this country. "Imam" Rauf won't disclose the source(s) of $100 Million in funds. Rauf is on-record that the USA was an "accessory" to the crime. He's on-record as supporting shariah in America. He has questionable ties to the muslim underworld. Daisy Khan has stated that there are already 200 mosques in New York City. So why there? Etc, etc, etc...
How can the mayor not know all this?? How can he ignore and deny it? Is it willful ignorance? Fear? Isn't he already too wealthy to be bought-off? Has he no pride, no shame, no feeling for his own citizens? Is it just "trendy" to be pro-islam and damn the consequences? And the same goes for the people on these commissions.
