First of all, this surgery is on dubious grounds, and in fact in my understanding of the hadiths is not legal under sharia.

I just want to make one correction, Courreges W: A family's reputation resides within the female members' vaginas.

They don't care if someone beats the crap out of their women. They don't care if their women are fired from their jobs (if they let them work at all). They don't care if their women are given an unfair score at school/uni. They only care if their women are "dis-honoured" in a sexual context.

They can't "get out" of Britain. They are here in the third generation. They know no other home. Many of them don't have an alternative citizenship.

I think it's a matter of voting with their feet, moving and then not moving included.

I know Muslims who dismiss the significance that they sought to live and continue to live in Kuffar-countries with: Oh, but THAT's for economic reasons. As if these economic reasons were something like irrelevant, unrelated to form of government, some accident of history, or ... the result of gross exploitation by citizens of Democratic nations of citizens of Islamic countries!

But my position is that the economic reasons are also something to commend the Kuffar-countries for. And that the Islamic countries deserves chastisement for not providing better economic circumstances. I think the economic situation definitely has to do with the governmental system.

The very enjoyable freedom in Democratic countries is something that enhances the affluence in them and which also makes them more attractive to go to and stay in then Islamic countries.

In my opinion vast numbers of Muslims suffer from a delusion; they seem to think that an affluent state can exist WITH Islamic laws, governing system. But such a state is only theoretical. I think the oil-rich countries should not count, they get their affluence from a accident in geography and even so they do not do too well economically.

Muslims clearly see the disadvantages of Democratic countries and the merits, in their eyes, of Islam. Or they maintain that Allah's will is unfathomable. But they should look at the whole picture and also see the many merits of Democratic societies (including high education and employment possibilities) and the many disadvantages of Islamic societies.

And they should consider that they either live in the right sort of existing society but then also should be most loyal to it and united with it, in all important respects, or that they live in the wrong society for their Islamic tastes and consequently should move to an existing Islamic society, building that up if they can.

Now they try to have it both ways; prophiting from the Democratic societies and still being loyal to the Islamic ones. We MUST point this out to them and demand clear choices from them somehow. In word and deed.

The article was about a devout Muslim woman {I would say, having read the article, that she was also to some extent influenced by 'western' ideas - dda} who was working as a marital counselor in Dubai:

It was a poster in that discussion, who provided the very useful link to the fascinating NYT article about the marriage counsellor in Dubai.

There are many comments in that thread which throw light upon the awful subject of sexuality and 'family' life inside dar al Islam. I think you will find the comments by 'apostate islam' and the comments by 'al kaafir al amrikii' to be of particular interest.
