Spencer: Detroit Muslims Mourn Terrorist Cleric

In Human Events this morning I discuss the implications of the massive outpouring of grief among Detroit Shi'ite Muslims for the jihad terrorist cleric Ayatollah Fadlallah:

Shi'ite Muslims in Detroit were in mourning last week for the Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, a world-renowned Lebanese cleric who died on July 4.

Three Shi'ite mosques conducted memorial services for six nights, with thousands of area Muslims attending.

That ought to give law enforcement and government officials pause, since Fadlallah was a bloodthirsty jihadist cleric who hated America and Israel, and approved of the 1983 Hezbollah attacks on a U.S. Marine barracks and the American Embassy in Beirut that killed over 300.

If what the mainstream media constantly tells us about Islam and Muslims is true, wouldn't thousands of Muslims in Detroit be denouncing Fadlallah, rather than mourning him? It is constantly demanded of us, on pain of charges of "Islamophobia" and bigotry, that we assume without examination that most Muslims in the U.S.--all but a few "wackos," such as are found in "any religious group"--are loyal citizens who love constitutional liberties, abhor jihad terrorism, and have no intention of bringing Islamic law here, at any time or in any way, in whole or in part, now or in the future.

So why do so many Detroit-area Muslims love Fadlallah? Shouldn't patriotic, pluralistic American Muslims oppose such a man, and not engage in such a public display of mourning, simply as a matter of principle? It certainly seems so from Fadlallah's public record.

Imam Mohammed Elahi of the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights last week called Fadlallah a "man of peace, man of justice ... a man of antiterrorism and antiviolence." There are some very compelling indications, however, that Elahi's characterization of Fadlallah was about as accurate as calling Barack Obama an advocate of the free market....

One man's terrorist is another man's Freedom Fighter.

One man's freedom fighter is another man's genocidal racist.

One man's genocidal racist is another man's Imam.

One man's Imam is another man's terrorist.

Sheesh, this freedom fighter sounds more like a storm trooper from the movie, the Islamic empire strikes back.

@ Islamic Empire

Depends on how you define 'freedom'. Submission to your religion is not freedom, it's slavery.

So, more accurately: One man's terrorist is also another man's enslaver.

You don't happen to know any enslavers in Gainsville, do you?

You've seen it before... Muslims supporting their "brothers" regardless of their actions. It seems to be Muslim > American first.

Robert, you write:"That ought to give law enforcement and government officials pause, since Fadlallah was a bloodthirsty jihadist cleric who hated America and Israel, and approved of the 1983 Hezbollah attacks on a U.S. Marine barracks and the American Embassy in Beirut that killed over 300."

Americans should know that we have allowed thousands and thousands of bloodthirsty Muslims to come in our country!!! But the flow of Muslims have not stopped even today, almost 9 years after 9/11. What more evidence Americans need to stop this madness??? Are we looking for a dirty bomb to explode on our shores?? Will Americans understand then or it will be business as usual like now.

An indication of American madness is exhibited by the New York city mayor who is for building the Cordoba mosque on Ground Zero and thinks investigation of this imam for the finances of the project is un-American. Ahh, the American stupidity personified by NYC mayor!!!

American law enforcement is very receptive to hiring former military, some of whom will have served in the US Marine Corps. The former Marine LEOs will tell the former Army, Navy & Air Force LEOs. All of them will tell the purely civilian cops. I doubt all those mourners (potential terrorists) went un-noticed.

Let's hope there were a number of media, private, and law enforcement video cameras running. There is no right to privacy that would prevent filming the "mourners", at least while they are in the public domain, arriving and departing from the the memorial services.

Well then, I suppose it is absurdity beyond measure that we allow Muslims to hide behind western ideals of religious freedom and tolerance. Why even come to America at all, if you take heroes as such men as Ayatollah Fadlallah? It is virtually impossible to take this demographic into our melting pot, because immigrants have to leave ALL foreign alliances behind ... and this man was an enemy of our State. Islam is an ideology, which is at odds with our State, a foreign ideology, a foreign alliance.

Oh and I might add, here is a good poll topic :-).
