Federal indictments unsealed Thursday in Minnesota, Alabama and California charge 14 people with terrorism offenses for allegedly aiding the radical Islamist al-Shabab organization in Somalia.In announcing the indictments, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said the charges reflect a disturbing trend in which al-Shabab, which has links to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda terrorist network, has appealed to U.S. citizens of Somali descent to join the group's battle against a weak U.S.-backed transitional government and African Union peacekeeping forces in Somalia.
Holder said there was no direct evidence that al-Shabab is threatening the United States, although a terrorist attack last month in Uganda "gives us pause." Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack, in which at least 74 civilians were killed in coordinated bombings at two locations in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, where crowds were watching the World Cup soccer final. Among the victims was an American aid worker from Delaware.
The four separate indictments unsealed Thursday accuse the 14 individuals with providing money, personnel and services to al-Shabab.
Among those charged were Omar Shafik Hammami, 26, a former resident of Daphne, Ala., and Jehad Serwan Mostafa, 28, a former resident of San Diego. Both are U.S. citizens who are believed to be at large in Somalia.
In a news conference, Holder said Hammami "has assumed an operational role" in al-Shabab and has made recruitment videos that have aroused concern at the FBI and in the Somali community in the United States.

Eric Holder defended islam and muslims when he announced these arrests when he should be investigating the mosques and imams that arranged for these misguided young men 'at difficult points in their lives' to become jihadists. In 2006, I used to occasionally transit the Somali corridor in Minneapolis while going to and from work. (It was a much more pleasant & easier drive than Minnehaha Blvd)I ALWAYS got an evil feeling from the area that I didn't used to get some 20 years earlier when I was stationed there on Recruiting duty. That area went from a nice college oriented area to being run down and an eyesore.

Now things get interesting. Assume that real proof surfaces that Obama was not born in Hawaii, but in a foreign country, say Kenya. So, all right, he was not eligible to be elected President according to the Constitution. But he was elected anyway, by a clear majority of the voters. So who removes him? I don't believe that the courts have the authority to do so. Here's why: the Constitution also says that Congressmen must be at least 25 years old, and Senators 30. Yet there have been several instances of members elected who did not meet this requirement. What happened? I believe that in each case the house involved voted to accept the election and seat the one elected. At any rate, the matter was not in the jurisdiction of the courts.
Now of course the House and the Senate are collegiate bodies, and so there is a group to make a decision. But the President is an individual, and I can't imagine him deciding to unseat himself, especially after he ran for election knowing he was ineligible.
Only Congress has the power to remove a President from office, via impeachment and conviction. No matter how big a landslide the Republicans might win in November, they cannot get a 2/3 majority in the Senate. Even if they win every Senate seat up for election, they will still be 7 or 8 seats short. And since most of the Democrats in Congress are sadly deficient in honor and honesty it's very unlikely that a sufficient number would join the Republicans in voting for conviction.
