God, what a horror.

We have so many of the all-too-familiar elements of an "honor" killings here:

The victim's father concerned solely about his "honor".

The victim's brother, either through coercion, or because he shared his father's appalling "moral" sense, taking part in the the finding of his sister, if not—as is so often the case with "honor" killings–directly in her murder.

The complicity of the police in the "honor" killing—here even more direct than usual. The military was also in on the murders.

Given the actions of the military in this case, one assumes the would-be groom was directly involved in the "honor" killing of his would-be bride, as well.

The murder of the man the girl really loved.

The threat to "secondary" victims—in this case, the brutal beating and murder of the first victim's mother, and her friend's fear for her own life if it is discovered she helped her escape.

The forced marriage, where the victim has no choice.

And, finally, the attempt to flee to somewhere civilized in Dar-al-Harb—France, in this case—where the vicious tenets of Islam will not reach.

According to the article "Worldwide Trends in Honor Killings," published in the Middle East Forum, Muslims do 91 percent of honor killings worldwide and 96 percent of honor killings in Europe. If you click on the link, those percentages can be found five paragraphs below the heading "Methodology."

According to Encylopedia Brittanica, Al-Azhar University is the "chief center of Islamic and Arabic learning in the world..." Robert Spencer wrote that

"...a manual of Islamic law certified by Al-Azhar as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy [over 80% of the world's Muslims are Sunni] says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2)."

There is an Achille's heal in the Muslim psyche that should be exploited to the fullest. This crippling insecurity must be debilitating or else otherwise why would Muslim males feel the need to murder their own blood? It seems to me that any other man who walks this earth who is not subject to these insecurities would be infinitely more suited to run the place and I should think that several of these men together would make a superior fighting force, as long as they knew what they were fighting for. A society that loves, respects and protects it's women has got to be better any day than any two bit Muslim one. How is it that so many people on this planet still don't know that?

For those of you who know there are "bad" Muslims, but there are also "nice" ones who would like to have shari'a law, but only for family matters...just, you know, little contracts regardling marriage and divorce and child custody and property ownership and probate...you know, just a little shari'a...."Isn't that cute, those little brown people with their little religious law. How special. Just like Jews and Catholics. How nice."

It isn't nice, and the women involved in these outside-of-justice-but-not-outside-the-law arrangements always end up on the short end of the stick.

Not because they don't always "win," but because two systems of justice means no justice at all. Venue shopping, when the man has power over the woman, means the justice most amenable to the man's favor is the one that is chosen.

Imam Rauf is staunchly in favor of shari'a law; so much so that his Cordoba Initiative committee meets regularly to create an index of ratings for nations' compatibility to shari'a. It's in his own book. In his own documents.

Shari'a is a religious and sociopolitical doctrine. Sharia regulates sin with law, and Mohammad decided what was sin long ago. There is no innovation (bida) in shari'a, only clarifications regarding Western created modernities cell phones and flush toilets and real universities and toothbrushes and what to do when there is no Caliph, because there always had been one.

These honor crimes will never, ever go away as long as shari'a exists to comfort the killers by thanking them for their service to Islam.

Do not allow Imam Rauf to spread his lies. Call out his lies wherever you find them. Arm yourselves with facts and his own words. Write to reporters and ask them to validate their assertions.

Do not let liberty be consumed by "tolerance." Why on earth would you tolerate this kind of intolerance?

My assessment of the Koran is that its writing was motivated by a profound hatred for mankind and that its purpose is to destroy man's mind. It reverses the standard by which rational people judge good and evil.

This thought constantly comes to mind when I hear or read Muslim speaches or articles.

In the link above there is a video documenting the differences between Muslim students and German students in a German School. There is a scene in which the students are openly discussing each culture's differences. A Muslim boy proudly speaks of how in his culture if a man and woman are engaged in some unapproved relationship "we just shoot them" to preserve "Honor." A German boy asks him how he defines Honor, and the Muslim is unable to answer. This Muslim boy finds it appropriate to take someones life over a concept he is unable to define.

Oh God , so shocking ! Time does seem to stand still . Even today we hear of honour killings , apostasy killings, stoning for adultery...

There is absolutely no place for love,compassion,honesty, forgiveness, tolerance. How can any sane person call this a religion ?

First honor killing - or "deliberate family execution" - in Denmark that I am aware of, was committed by a Turkish family who made the youngest son - 12 years old - do the actual deed thinking he would get off because of his age.

This book is one of the saddest I have ever read.
