Al-Qaeda preaches overthrow of House of Saud, warfare against Jews and Christians

This isn't really news, as they have been on record in this way for years, but it was just reaffirmed. "Al-Qaeda Seeks Overthrow of Saudi Arabia Monarchy, Killing of Christians," by Glen Carey and Mourad Haroutunian for Bloomberg, August 11:

Al-Qaeda urged soldiers to help topple the Saudi monarchy and kill Christians and government officials in the kingdom, said someone purporting to be a leader of the group in a recording.
Al-Qaeda ordered supporters in the Saudi army to "collect information on everything related to the Saudi royal family" in an effort to dethrone them, a speaker identified as Saeed al- Shihri said in an Arabic-language recording posted today on a website that often carries al-Qaeda statements. The identity of the speaker could not immediately be verified.

The group has accused the Saudi monarchy of helping the U.S. to wage war against Muslims through its military campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen. Al-Qaeda in June ordered sympathizers in the military to abduct Saudi princes, ministers and Christian residents.

The U.S. embassy warned its citizens in the kingdom that it has credible information that unidentified extremists may be planning to attack western nationals in al-Qassim province north of Riyadh, according to a Warden Message on its website dated Aug. 4. The timing and method of potential attacks aren't known, according to the statement.

"Some members of Saudi government's army requested us to give them orders on whether to stay in their jobs or to go to Yemen to join al-Qaeda's camps," al-Shihri said in the recording. "Unite ranks, call for Jihad within your departments, and form Islamic cells to attract whoever can help in military or political organizational work."

Once again we see that Misunderstanders of Islam frame their violent exhortations in explicitly Islamic terms. This is a recurring fact before which the standard idea that the jihad terrorists are misusing Islam absolutely breaks down.

The al-Qaeda leader also called on its followers in the armed forces to attack Israel from northwestern Saudi Arabia. "Carry your arms against Israel, which is only few kilometres away from you," al-Shihri said. "Whoever among you is a pilot should seek martyrdom in the skies of Palestine, and who works in the navy should aim his weapon at the Jews there."...
"You who work as guards for tyrants, princes, ministers or complexes where Christians live, or can reach them, seek help from Allah to kill them," al-Shihri said in the recording. "Together, let's overthrow the Al Saud family."...

Gee, how come no rival group of Moslems, say those moderate Muslims we hear so much about, has issued a press release calling for a unified effort against Al-Qaeda? That isn't because Al-Qaeda bases it's ideology on Islam is it?

As long as Sharia is followed, Rulers are to be venerated...

Like Iran, what's the difference between muslims?

There is no change but tactics... Period...

I don't support any regime change that doesn't throw away islam... In neither case does islam come undone...

That alleged "Peace Fatwa" issued in Britain recently basically attempted to convince Jihadists like Al-Qaeda that rebelling against Islamic regimes such as that of Pakistan was "un-Islamic".

Al-Qaeda, clearly, disagrees. Well, either they believe even a regime as Islamically barbaric as the "House of Saud" is simply "insufficiently Islamic", since they are not—for instance—attacking Israel.

On the other hand, it might just be a power grab, which—historically—is every bit as "Islamic" as declaring your enemies "un-Islamic".

And, of course, in the most Islamic lands, simply "voting the bastards out" is not an option—since anything as civilized as any sort of democracy is "un-Islamic" in itself.

So—the only option—as is so often the case in Islam—is the application of brute force and indiscriminate bloodshed.

Make no mistake, this is a life-and-death struggle. But as with all things in that realm of the world, the equation is filled with paradoxes, ironies and seeming contradictions. For example, support for Al Qaeda extends not just to sections of the military, but even to elements within the extended royal family itself. Earlier this decade, Al Qaeda delivered a telephone death-threat to a senior member of the royal family on his private line. This sent shock waves throughout the Kingdom as it proved the terrorists had connections at the highest level.

Meanwhile, the House of Saud is not immune to periodic episodes of facilitation and cooperation with Al Qaeda, or sometimes just turning a blind eye, depending on who is the target de jour. It is a culture that only a true Machiavellian could fully comprehend.

If the House of Saud is Machiavellian and al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and Hamas are Nietzsche a.k.a. "Hitlerian", then which would you prefer to rule?

If al Qaeda does succeed I am sure "The One" will be extremely depressed for a very long time.

The family Saud has had some close calls.
Saudi Prince Muhammad bin Nayef barely escaped with his life when the mad al Qaeda "ass-bomber" blew the crap out of himself right in front of him.

This could turn out as a positive...if al Qaeda did succeed in their plot do you suppose that would give Israel or even the U.S. the right to drop a bomb smack dab on the Ka'aba?

This might very well be Sa'id Ali Jabir Al Khathim Al Shihri, of Guantanamo fame, then given to the Saudis that he might improve his PlayStation skills. This accomplished he was off for Yemen.
Well, the Saudi "fat cats" are in for an interesting time again. It comes in waves, and strangely the Saudi Jihadis seem able to reorganize very quickly.

Cornelius, you are correct. We are watching a REAL war, a fight to the finish, and this is how real wars are fought. Since antiquity, war has been the art of convincing ones enemy that he will lose so that he will stop fighting and submit to the victor. There are many different ways to convince the enemy that he will lose and this is not always done by brute force alone.

Lets hope that our top brass catches on to this "novel" idea.

tanstaafl, as I understand it, according to the progressives we don't hear about the many protests against al-Qaeda and other alleged Islamic extremists by rival "moderate" Muslims from the "peaceful and tolerant" religion of Islam because the so-called Jewish right-wing neoconservative violent Tea Party controlled Main Stream Media won't report it.

If any of you want to see progressive apologists in action, go to OpEdNews.com. But be careful, many are sensitive about conservatives responding on a site meant for progressives. If you do post, do so with erudite, cogent, and non-acerbic responses. They're a major site for spreading the hate message that the Tea Party and conservatives are violent and uneducated. Responding with facts to their "feelings" seems to really set them off.

I just realized that this might not be a bad thing! If the al-Qaeda types actualy took over S.A. the oil industry would go completely to hell, and there go all those petro-dollars!
Foreign workers keep all the technology in S.A. going, and most of them would flee immediately upon the heels of the House of Saud... could be interesting in the long run... the Saudi on the street would not put up with suddenly living in Afghanistan!
